Samarkand Restaurant - Uzbeki restaurant in Prague, Czechia
Good food, good exotic performances
Friendly staff; even though the restaurant was full, it was possible to place an order. BUT: The ordered vegetable meal (see picturefor 145Kr. was only 1 tomato, 2 slices of aubergine and 2 slices of paprika + 10Kr. for the „2go-packing“, which wasn‘t mentioned before!A „MEAL“ for 155Kr.?! Way to less, way to expensive! I‘m dissappointed and couldn‘t recommend eating here!
food good but could e betterPeople there very friendlyLocation faraway from city centre
Great restaurant! Recommend it!
Quite far from the centre but with parking quite easy. This Uzbek restaurant is a traditional gathering place for the Uzbek community in Prague, which accounts several hundred people. Food is acceptable, service is kind even if slow but with the usual language barrier, unless u speak Czech or as minimum Russian. Pleasant live music entertainment (beware: Uzbek or Russian). Prices absolutely reasonable.
Very nice ambiance. Little expensive but good taste !
The best uzbek restaurant outside of Uzbekistan! The food tastes exactly like in Uzbekistan while the music and interior gives you feeling like you’re in Tashkent, not in Prague. I’ve been to multiple uzbek restaurants in Europe, but none was as good as “Samarkand”. If you’re in Prague, definitely a must visit place!!!A must try dish is plov, but plan in advance to come hungry, because the portions are really big!! You can probably feed two people with 1 dish.
We have been here yesterday. I go there not that often but whenever i miss the cuisine i always go there and its been the third time when the food didnt satisfy me neither by look nor by taste. The portions are getting smaller while the prices are getting higher. I came with my husband who is foreigner and loves my national food but he was so offended by the size of the portion it was literally the kid’s size portion, he took two spoons and half of the plate was already gone! I dont think the plate worth 250-300 kr as well as my plate was small. And of course we left the restaurant hungry by paging around 900 kr. Unbelievable. Unfortunately by the fact i was even shocked i didnt take the picture. Waiter apologized but its not leaving the fact that i was embarrassed and also the Uzbek cuisine by this restaurant. I think it was the last time i came here i ll look for Kazakh or Armenian restaurant from now on.
Insanely good food. The pilaf is flavored impeccably, the meat is good. It seems very good, if not authentic to me.
Delicious food and pleasant staff.
Food is good and choice is great. The place is pleasant, but a bit too crampy. People are pleasant, but service is not very fast; price are on verge of being too much.
Ridiculous prices, small portions, 200Kc for a small too salty soup (Surpawith one piece of potato and one piece of meat, I will never order there again!!!!
This restaurant has a very unique atmosphere and ambiance. If you are looking for authentic Uzbek food, this is the place to go. I had the Rice Pilaf and Manti, it was absolutely delicious. I also tried the traditional Uzbek salad and it was very refreshing! The Uzbek decorations and colors are truly a sight to see. If you have never tried Uzbek food, I highly recommend Samarkand. The restaurant also has live Uzbek music over the weekends from what I understand. If you are interested in Uzbek or Central Asian cuisine you should definitely check out this place.
Good food and nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Good place to have halal food. Price is not cheap, the mix BBQ cost 1700 kc.
The most tasty Shashlik in Prague, the meat and the Samsa are unique and the Soup is delicious, the prices are reasonable. One of the best Restaurant in the city, meat was fresh very big portione excellent 👍. Fantastic service, very friendly and hospitable 🤗Shashlik was very good 😋 Definitely the best Ive ever eaten with Tashkent Tea :😄Thanks a lot for an Amazing and Tasty Foods.
I was in this place ( i cant call such a place a restaurantyesterday approximately at 2pm and at the doors was a young lady with smile and started to think something changed from my last visit but when she called another lady to get a payment she came to cashdesk with bottle of something maybe beer or no. Started to speak with me and showed to me price for meal in calculatior in her hand after i told her i will pay by card and she asked me a very crazy question in my life " do you have a cash" . After i wait there 32 minutes for my meal but she told me it would take 10-15 minutes. Come on guys every month i came there with my friends, family to have a good time and enjoy a meal but if you not some home check your staff nothing will change there are. One star for lady who had a smile when i come in.
Very tasty food in a nice restaurant. The staff was very kind and helpful. Can recommend to visit the restaurant
Unique and good quality. Price could be better. Please revise the choice of music and especially the content shown on the TV
On Thursday I was there with my friend I think they have the best food outside of center Prag . the guy who served us the food he was very nice guy and very polite the food was very delicious the decoration of restaurant is very beautiful u feel that you are in the year of nineties 😊😊 I will give five star bcoz of that guy who served us the food
I will never visit this place again. I went here with my boyfriend. There were two waiters. These girls didnt come to me for like 15-20 minutes. Then, I asked for a beer and it took them TEN MINUTES just to bring me the menu and the beer. Restaurant wasnt full. I saw them sitting in their phones and just do nothing. Then, I ordered Samsa with a Lamb meat. This is the only thing that was good here (1 star for this). Atmposphere itself is so-so. Music was too loud. I guess it was the owner of the restaurant who shout at everyone, it gave me bad expression and feeling about everything. Food itself took long, but was tasty. Prices are cheap, but the service...
Great food. Great service. A change of music would be nice, thoughBut overall - one of the best places in the area.
We finally decided to try this Uzbek restaurant and unfortunately we were quite disappointed. The restaurant is located inside a place that perhaps used to be a Czech pub, so it feels a bit odd to see the usual Uzbek decoration within the pub stuff.Furthermore, place was a bit dusty and we even had to deal with a spider that was around our table.Waiter indicated that he can speak Russian but he mainly addressed to us in either Czech or English (and we dont speak Czech). We tried ordering three different drinks and they were not available. Unsurprisingly it would have been easier to just get a beer.We wanted to try the place because of the shashlik but that as well was unavailable.Eventually, We ordered lagman and Kazan kebab. Lagman tasted closer to pasta with a bit too much tomato sauce than real lagman. It was not terrible but nothing too exciting.Kazan kebab was decent but contained not so much amount of meat. Finally, we asked if we could pay using an employee-benefit card (Sodexoand waiter confirmed they accept it. To our surprise, when we tried paying, it didnt work, and waiter claimed it was problem with our card (absolutely not true, because we had the chance to try it later and it worked fine). All in all, a mediocre, overpriced experience. The good parts are that 1there seems to be a temporary discount in the prices; 2food is "alright" and, 3most importantly, this is not the only Uzbek restaurant in Prague.
As a chinese I like this food. Its very similar to the Xinjiang meal. The beef nuddle, lamb rice, and cake with lamm are my favourite.I would recommend this restaurant. And next time when I come to Prag I will enjoy the food again. BUT lamb rice only for the lunch!!!
As someone originally from this region of the world, this restaurant was a wonderful surprise. Well decorated based on the culture, nice open terrace and great food. We will be coming back to Samarkand, definitely the BEST Uzbek restaurant in Praha.
Tasty food and nice atmosphere. Waiter was very friendly and nic. Recommended us traditional food.
The setting of the restaurant is just gorgeous, however after the dinner, we are told if we use this area we have to pay 450czk, we are ok to pay but it would be good to know it in advance.Food is good, a bit pricy, and it takes quite long to serve the table.
Nice place, slow service, food hit & miss. Pilaf was good. Lamb chops were a joke with no meat on them and no side except onions for 265cz. Wait time about 2 hrs for my wifes food. not recommended!
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and I am really happy I tried it.Really good. Everything was really delicious. The best dish out of all, although all very delicious, was the tongue with the red sauce. The variety of tastes in every dish, tells you they use lots of spices, which is very good, and also they know how to use them. The wine was really good too. The staff was helpful and quite attentive. The interior looks very authentic.
Very small portion, sheep ribs were just bones, almost no meat on them. So its expensive if we consider price vs portion, 285 kc for almost no meat, sorry, its a disaster. I stayed hungry after visiting this restaurant.
Terrible experience, we spent like 75 minutes waiting. They brought Ayran, in menu it says e-g 500 m litres and they actually bring like 200ml. Moreoever, when our pilawo came it looked like a kid menu...it was not meant for any adult...taste was not so good and portion was too small. I will not recommend it to anyone...Its just another expensive food trap.
Uzbek restaurant, home cooked food. Very good meat and local pastrys. There are vegetarian options. The Georgian wine was nice.
An Uzbek-style restaurant with unique flavor, big dish and good service. Especially recommend Tashkent tea, noodle soup, mutton rice and roast lamb.Best of all, there are ethnic tambourine performances during the meal.
Everything was delicious. Good service. Live music
Absolutely TERRIBLE service !The food has nothing to do with a traditional Uzbek kitchen. It is a joke.Dont even waist your time. You will have a wrong impression about real delicious Uzbek dishes. I wouldnt even award the " restaurant" with one star. This is a fast food quality with a slowest service . The worth restaurant I ever seen.
Very colourful atmosphere in Uzbek traditional colours, every corner has a traditional decoration, beautifully made. Food was okeysh... prices slightly higher than it should be as for me.
We came in with 45 people. They took our orders really quick even though the language barrier. The place is really authentic, it is like you are in Uzbekistan. The Staff is really kind and we have had our our come really quick as well. The only thing you should look out for is Ayran, it’s not what you expect it to be(Turkish Ayranit’s bitter and has a weird taste. We had fun and if we ever come to Prag again this will be the place we will eat!
To whom it may concern,Unlike my fellow peers that werent too keen on the cuisine and decor of this establishment, I believed that the food was exquisite and the scene stayed true to the Uzbeki aesthetic. I highly recommend the Manty as well as the cheesburgers prime cut meat, though unfortunately i found a single half frozen fry in my french fries. Otherwise highly recommend this restaurant.
Kind staff. Delicious food. Charming place.
Service was chaotic and confused.... the pilaf was too oily and bland. The ayran and other drinks werent good either.... however we loved the samsa and the ambience... very traditional Uzbek atmosphere!
Many reviews point at issues with the service, and I can confirm them - the service is chaotic and requires better management. The good part is their food. We tried some "old school" dishes and they were tasty.
Hi everyone! We lived in a&o hostel close this nice restaurant. It is a traditional Uzbek restaurant with delicious food and cheap Czech beer! Best meal was Lagman, Kazan Kabob and soups, Manty portion was small for one man. Anyway we loved this place! Good luck! P.s. for administration please do not increase beer price and try to play Uzbek music and not American pop
The place was very nice and food was awesome that made me go there again. If like meat get the BBQ plat with grild veggies. The portion is not big for American standards but well enough. The staff were nice too.
Very tasty and delicious traditional Uzbek food, nice investment and awesome service! Really enjoyed my dinner with my family. Strong recommend to everyone!
Was there today with Family. Great cuisine, very friendly and professional service. Tasty plove, excellent Uzbek tea, soup and a dessert. All fresh, delicious in a friendly atmosphere. Walking distance from the historical city center and at the boarders with Kampa park.
The most delicious ever food with great chefs. Atmosphere is quite great with Eastern music. Thanks a lot.
Nice restaurant. The food is good, and worth to try in case this cusine is new to you. The rooms are nicely decorated in Uzbek style. I liked specially the tea room, where you should sit on the floor :)
The food was average, baklava was dry, no honey. They also run out of the vine.
The food was good, not great. We lived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan for 2 years and traveled all over the country. Its nice to be able to have Uzbek food while we are in Prague. We had Lagman, manti, chuchvara, samsa, plov and achuk-chuk. Lagman is my favorite and it was missing something, a little flavor...it was also missing the soy sauce and chili sauce its normally served with. Service was ok, they took our order but never came back for anything else. We had to get up to ask for more water but they did bring it to us. My kids enjoyed the manti and samsa.
All in all, good place for introduction to Uzbek Cousine. However, I would pay more attention to servicemen and tune certain dishes up. Recommend to everyone, who wants to try something new and tasty.
Great food, staff are friendly. Great green tea too!
