Sal's Authentic NY Pizza Mount Maunganui - Pizza restaurant in Tauranga, New Zealand
Love the pizza 🍕 service was great. Feel like Im in New York when dinning in. Love the style of the restaurant.
Ordered sals NBL meal deal tonight from Mt Maunganui Sals. Half cheese half pepperoni. Waiting time was pretty good but not so sure the pizza is meant to be this burnt! Tasted like melted cheese on cabin bread crackers! For $37 it was pretty disappointing! Especially since we do not live nearby and cant just return it 🙄 even the kids didnt want to eat it aue!
Always great pizzas... 😁👍
The pizzas here are usually a 10/10 awesome place but our pizza tonight was not great. Didn’t seem to be as much ingredients as usual maybe was made in a rush or a new employee made it not sure. Hopefully they haven’t started cutting corners. We will order again for sure since it’s usually amazing.
Two teenage girls working in there had terrible customer service skills, they were rude! We ordered garlic knots as there was an entire plate of them on display and the girls told us they were sold already and refused to cook anymore even though it was only 6pm and they weren’t closing til 9. Super disappointed as it’s not hard to use your manners!
+ Best "fast food" pizza I ever had+ Very fresh tasting tomato sauce+ Nice thin dough with decent flavor- Waits can be long- Not the most cozy place to eat, can be noisy- I wonder what the carbon footprint of these pizzas is like since the ingredients come from the other side of the world
Love SALS pizza, no matter which Sals you go to, its all consistently yummy. Tried Wellington & Tauranga and the flavor is the same. I enjoy the knots dipped in Sals special dipping sauce.
Best NY style pizza in town; if you love NY style pizza, you will love this. They get it right. You will think you are in New York.
The good: Pizza was ok, garlic knots excellent. 35 minute wait which was fine as we were warned in advance. The bad: Ran out of beer on tap, tables are too small, the restaurant was hot, no blinds on window so blinded by light, the tables were nasty & grubby.I expect better for the price.Ironically this reproduces an authentic N.Y. experience. Tasty but oily pizza served in cheap and grotty surroundings, however N.Y. pizza is a relatively inexpensive fast food.
Awesome as always sals never disappoints and is a hit with the kids
Great value for money, nice NY style fresh pizza and Ben&Jerry ice cream 1👍👍👍
Awesome pizza. Best in the Mount. Shame they dont have a store at The Crossing.
The pizza was very very tasty and very New Yorkesque. They were very quick and made for a tasty pizza.
Unfortunately pretty flavourless and absolutely dripping with oil. Certainly not the worst Ive had but could use some improvement.
Nice NY style pizza, a great cheesecake, and a friendly staff! Mamma Mia
wait time was actually not too bad. pizzas here are amazing. the staff that served us was friendly
We love Sals pizzas! Their soft pizza bases makes for scrumptious pizzas. Unfortunately, as a vegan, there is only one option available to me and its rather boring. Would love it if you could incorporate more interesting toppings and flavours into your pizzas and also add vegan cheese for your vegan option.
Very expensive and pretty average pizzas. Their license had lapsed so I couldnt get a beer while I waited.
I wouldnt normally choose to eat pizza but majority ruled. The pizzas were very good. I didnt notice any dessert options. Its a clean establishment. They dont serve hot drinks.
Food was amazing as always. A perfect place for lunch or dinner. Staff were really friendly. Only downsides were that there were a few mistakes with our order.
Im used to go to Sals Mt Maunganui at form time to time but I gotta say I went 2 days ago at lunchtime and I got really surprised of how the quality has improved.Presentation and flavour!!
Worst Sal’s pizza we have ever had. We love Sal’s pizza and we have had it in several locations in New Zealand, but we had a bad experience in the Mount. Pizza dough was not up to their normal standards and the pizza was overall soggy. Some of the slices were even wet... not to mention the service was very poor. Definitely not going back there. Me and my partner did not enjoy it and even feel bad about eating that pizza and the over cooked pepperoni wheel...
Its my wifes favorite pizza place. Mozzarella sticks, yum! Pizzas are great. Buffalo wings are my favorite. Thank you!
Marketed 1/2price slice on screens in store, charged full price. When asked about it, said was mistake but refused to provide refund or second slice. Misleading! 😕😞Principally wrong!
Pizza was nice, unfortunately the customer service lacked. As my husband, myself and our 2 young children waited for our order staff behind the counter were more interested in talking about other staff members loud and clear as day. As we ate our pizza we heard f bombs and sh1ts been thrown in general conversations, again LOUD and clear as a day. Made the dining experience very unenjoyable.
A very busy outlet, first time for me, great pizza and the garlic buns we had, I would go again, I think it was value for the money, not a long wait time, fresh pizzas, tasty and hot
Best pizza ever in my life. Couldnt wait 3-4 mins btw.
This Sals is one of the best Ive ever been to - the pizza was insanely fresh and the garlic knots are to die for!The girl at the front counter was incredibly kind and really made our night with her wonderful service. :)
Pizza was lovely as always but it took so long to come out and the place was empty, the women with glasses was awesome but the guy at the back seemed like he didnt know what to do or and he wasnt exactly trying , might wanna either find someone to help the poor girl or give her a pay raise.
Great pizza as always from Sals. Good crust. Clean flavours. Always authentic ingredients. Quick, friendly service and general good vibes here. Would recommend.
As always Sals always delivers the best pizza. Our pizza was so delicious, usually I cant finish one but ended up eating the whole thing. Awesome n quick service too
Service from female staff average and for the hype, thought the pizza was also average. (little sad because a friend in Auckland had said was goodpossibly just this store doing something wrong.
Museum is still under inspection and renovation. Surrounding garden is beautifully maintained
Pizzas are lovely, however I spent nearly $100 on a family order in store, only to get home to find part of my order was missing, despite being charged for it. Phoned and emailed, and no response whatsoever. Very disappointed, check your orders carefully or avoid.
WORST pizza and restaurant dining ever.Ordered the nonna half pizza and a drink. Tables and premises were visably dirty. The pizza topping feel off straight away and the paper plate and plastic knife and folk for in house dining were not suitable as the knife wouldnt cut the pizza and just bent same for the plastic folk. When we left the staff were just talking between themselves and no acknowledgement to the customer. For $20 for a half pizza there are better options in the mount.
Was very dissapointed. I noticed not one table had been cleaned and we were the only ones in the shop. There was thick dust as you walked in on the door. Pizza was served on paper plates and you couldnt cut the pizza with the plastic knives and forkes!! The pizza was very plain and was $16 for four your slices. No acknowledgement from the staff whatsoever and we waited ages for it to come out. Wont be going back there ever again especially when theres so much better food around.
Best Pizzas ever! I highly recommend Sals, its my tradition to call in whenever Im over at the Mount, even though the wait is sometimes long. They make Pizzas better than any I tried from the vendors in New York City. I highly recommend the Buffalo, if u dont mind spiciness. Alternatively the pepperoni is always good! 11/10
Best pizza in town. I’ve been to NY a few times and eaten a lot of their pizza. This stuff is authentic and delicious. We’ve been here at least 6 times already. On the pricy side but you get what you pay for
Really enjoyed the pizza! Nice toppings and a really decent size. Mozzarella sticks are fantastic, can order everything online for pickup or delivery.
Good pizzas, friendly staff. If anything, the only thing a little bad is the time it takes to get the pizza. From ordering to eating about 20mins.Though, in decent company and with some of those delicious twists, time flies by. 😊
Decent "NYC" thin crust style pizza. Not much better than Sbarros though.Doesnt hold a candle to some other pies I have had in both NYC and New Haven.
Pizza was yum! However, we paid $45 for 1pizza, 1/2 and 1/2. Before it came out my partner asked for parmesan and we were told they had none. One half came out attached to our friends pizza, it had hardly any cheese on it, so I took it to the staff to tell them that we had paid for extra. They went through a whole rigmarole of explaining why they decided to just put it on one half and still charged us $45 🤔 but they could give us parmesan to put on our pizza. Parmesan that a few mins ago didnt exist. Pizza would have had a great review if it wasnt for the annoying experience we had.
Great pizza as always, however had takeaway and they forgot to give us the marinara. The shared toilet needs some bleach cleaning for sanitation and odor. One of the workers had pretty good wifi as he was on his mobile the whole time we were there. We will be back for the yummy pizza.
Decent little pizza joint in downtown Mount Maunganui. They were happy took to order as the slice I wanted wasnt there. Pizza was great and the vibe inside the place was good too.Parking can be difficult if its busy in town, otherwise not an issue.
This was some of the worst pizza Ive had. The base was burnt on the outside and soft in the middle. Definitely not crispy as a New York pizza should be.I give them only 1 star for their efforts. It was nothing like the Sals pizza Ive had in Auckland.
Great that Sals has come to the Bay, enjoy their pizza, such a nice place to sit and have lunch or dinner, or get some take aways. Limited seating and have been occasions when have been unable to get a seat. Staff have always been nice and friendly, will come back again.
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE AT ALL YOU COULD GET SICK,...!! went in tonight to order a slice of pepperoni the girl who was cleaning with a blue cloth which clearly had black grease and dirt on it and a spray bottle ,without washing her hands after the man who had taken my order straight after touching dough to the the mouse and keyboard and touching money asked her to make mine and another order then went back to making his pizza with no gloves or washing his hands in between. The girl then put her clothes and spray down and proceeded to make the orders, opening and closing a fridge twice to grab slices of pepepperoni out with her hands she had not washed to put on my slice of pizza I actually felt sick I then asked to speak to him and said Id like my money back please Im not willing to eat the order I just made and watched be prepared and stated why he tried to then offer me free products aswell as my refund .. NO THANKS MATE
Decent american style pizza. One large pizza is plenty enough for 3 adults and 3 children.
Great place for good pizza! A whole pie fed 4 adults. We also had the original buffalo wings which were yummy and not too hot! Mozzarella sticks were good too! Well be back for sure!
The pizza here is great, as is the service. This is the most New York like pizza Ive had outside of New York! Note: Be sure to try the garlic knots! They are wonderfully chewy and garlicky, the best weve ever had (even better than other Sals locations in Auckland)!
