Sakura Sushi Piano Bar - Sushi restaurant in Wichita Falls, United States
I thought the shrimp fried rice was AMAZING, and you get a decent serving for the price. However, the Philly rolls are definitely overpriced since you only get 6 rolls. For the price you should definitely get at least 8. I would definitely order again, but probably not very often.
The lady in the kitchen there has a nasty attitude. Im very careful of the energy in establishments that I intake into my body and I wont ever eat at this place every again. When a person cooks with love u can tell, idk what this lady has running thru her veins but I dont want it running thru me! Will not be going again
Food was amazing and owner was super nice and she also cooks and does everything herself! I would recommend to anybody super delicious!
Great food and A+++ service. Always enjoy visiting Sakura
Got to sit down and enjoy some great food while listing to Christian music. Which allowed me to get my belly full and spend time with my Heavenly Father. IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!!!
Very nice staff that also love the lord! Would give 6 stars if I could
Please do not waste your money coming here. Probably the worst sushi I’ve had in Wichita and by far the smallest portions. Really weird vibe in there too. Just Christian music playing in an empty “piano bar” not to mention the strange set up. Almost like you’re in someone else’s living room.
I went to pick up an order for a delivery. I was running a few minutes behind which allowed time to prepare the order to be ready for pick up. There were only two people inside eating. The guy working the register and fixing the sushi was trying to talk to me about Jesus Christ instead of making the order that shouldve been ready prior to my arrival. I simply stated that my customer was waiting for their order and I was on a schedule. The owner came from the back with the food and threw it on the table saying "HERE". She truly better be glad that it wasnt my food she slung on the table or my exit wouldnt have been so polite. The hostility was so distasteful that although it was a beautifully decorated restaurant with a gorgeous piano in the corner that screams romantic date night, I wont EVER be visiting this establishment for myself. One must be careful of the vibe in places they choose to eat, I dont want that energy in my belly!!
This place is by far the best sushi I’ve had in the states; in comparison to fresh sushi back in Hawaii where everything is freshly caught. I will definitely be coming back to here when visiting through Wichita Falls. Worth every penny!!! The atmosphere is very inviting and you can feel the welcome vibe when entering here. It is a family owned and operated facility and the service there is above and beyond excellent. Working as a server in the past myself; you know excellent service and what to expect. This place has it all. Highly recommend it and you will not regret it. It was such a blessing to find this Gem here in this town and will definitely be back in the future. Love the Christian atmosphere here!!!! The owners are full of Love and you can tell they are passionate at what they do here. They definitely have the calling for service and deserve the recognition. I will recommend it to be a comfortable and inviting place for management meetings and will definitely bring my management team here to impress them. 🙌🏼❤️ May this place be forever blessed!
So weird. Dirty. Bad service. The server was asleep on the couch when I walked in. Charged $10.99 for a small class of wine. Charged $12 for the smallest sushi roll I’ve ever seen. Their shrimp fried rice was $8.99, however I asked for no shrimp and just as a side portion. I was still charged the same price! To add, the server is also the chef and had her hair down and was wearing open toed shoes in the kitchen. She was handling money with other customers and I did not see her wash her hands. Terrible restaurant and I will probably have food poising here in about 15 mins.
Best sushi I’ve ever had! Very laid back place and they are always super nice. Like all things good/nice it’s expensive but I think it’s well worth it. Highly recommend the Sakura roll as well
Amazing food and service, love the little robot that serves your drinks, and the gacha machines too! 100% recommend
We had an amazing experience the food was amazing as well as the service. I’m happy how kind they are and they are amazing Christians helping spread the word in the community I would definitely suggest coming here best sushi in town!
Very good service this was my first time and I cant believe the greatness that comes of this place 100% recommend
I have to say this is by far the best sushi I have ever had. The portions were large and in charge and the quality was off the charts. I have eaten a lot of sushi in my life at a lot of different restaurants so I know what I’m talking about people. Sushi is also My favorite food so I am very critical of quality and quantity…. Both were above par. I will also say as I waited for my food, the gentleman behind the counter preparing it took the time to share his faith with me. I have recently been in a dark time and really needed to be encouraged in this manner. I feel like sometimes we miss opportunities like these and I sometimes get uncomfortable in situations like that, but this time I needed someone to take the time out of their day and cut through the awkwardness of” religious talk”. I’m so glad that this gentleman reminded me that a relationship with God (Jesus he saysIs the most important thing in life. I felt in my heart that the courage he spoke with testified to the truth of what he was saying. I’m so glad that I didn’t miss that opportunity and neither did he. I’ll be back !
Excellent sushi in a peaceful atmosphere!Plus the owner has a genuine zeal for the Lord!
This was a disappointment all around. Terrible service, terrible sushi, terrible experience. I wish I had seen the other reviews before going :(
I made a doordash pick up order to this restaurant today. Doordash said that order was ready at 9:15, i went there and order was not ready. The guy behind the counter , owner as said by himslef, picked up a topic about god and religion and put down the other religion except his. He is a bully, never ever go to this restaurant again. Who is earth start to talk controversially with a customer who is there to pick up the food for a min or so if the order was ready as suggested by the app.He puts down other religions, and also said not to give him business advice when I said him i am not interested in talking about the controversial topic and he can stop too. Horrible place. And when the food came in, the food is horrible too. I order like 6 rolls, they put all the rolls in a single box with messed up condition. And when i asked him how would I know which roll is which, he said me anyone who is in sushi place should know about sushi and all the craps when the sushi itself is not in a recognizable state.
Husband and I wanted sushi so we decided to try this place out. Place was empty when we went in and seemed to only have one person working. She was kinda rude and wasn’t very attentive. Ordered 4 rolls, 3 of them only had 4-6 pieces and one had 8. Got edamame and crab Rangoons for appetizers and two waters and a glass of wine. Still trying to figure out how it was 80 dollars worth. We weren’t even full when we left.
This place was completely awful. Me and my husband came to this town on military orders and just as were about to leave, we decided to go out and eat for once to celebrate leaving. So we come to this restaurant to get one final Screw you from Wichita Falls. The rice wasnt even jasmine, it was undercooked and had burnt sesame oil in it. The seaweed wrap wasnt soaked or anything, just dry seaweed chip. The sashimi was warm and sweating. The Wasabi was brown. The service was terrible and it was completely silent for a piano bar. We ordered edamame and saw it come from a frozen Costco bag into the microwave. Finally, we paid $15 for a water and an ice tea that were served in 50 cent target cups. We ended up paying $74 for food poisoning. I would have preferred to just make Craft Mac at home if I knew this place was this bad. I have no idea why Google has it on such a high rating. Please dont ruin your night by coming to this awful place.
The food does not come out looking or tasting anything like they advertise. Plates were dirty, kitchen was a mess. Not worth the cost or time going, no one is attentive to the tables, you receive your food a little at a time, and it’s not even correct.
I deliver for grub hub and I had a delivery for the first time for myself at this sushi bar today. I ended up leaving almost in tears of frustration. I walked in and requested the order. He proceeded to ask me my name and if I have ever talked to him before. I was very confused as I had no idea who this was behind the counter. I told him no and he blatantly asked me if he could talk to me about Jesus. I politely declined. He continues and I asked him if he would please stop. Ultimately he would not take no for an answer and let me know he was the owner. Assuming so he could show he could address anyone however he would like. Never have I ever been treated so badly by an establishment. I had to let the customer know I could not receive their order and wasn’t paid for my time either. I hope that no one ever goes here if they can help it and see this.
Seriously don’t waste your money. My wife and I passed up Indian at Namaste, which is tasty, authentic, and affordable to get served up vegetarian dishes here that we would’ve made 100 times better and significantly cheaper. As for cost, udon noodles, kimchi fried rice, and fried tofu with a beer and a glass of wine…$60 before the tip! As for quality, everything tasted okay but not nearly as good as we would have made it for ourselves. The kimchi fried rice was heavy with oils and sauces and the chef/waitress didn’t bother adding any fresh ingredients like spring onions, just a heavy mass drizzled with siracha (leave that to the customer next time!). The udon noodles were good but again lacking any fresh ingredients, which you could expect from a proper Korean, Japanese, or Thai restaurant. The fried tofu was by far worse thing we had…tastewise not terrible but over cooked—by no means crispy but hard on the outside and dry inside. Everything was served up as if slopped into the dish/bowl with splats near the rim, where surely her fingers had just been. Other reviews mentioned the “atmosphere”. I was shocked to hear that they’ve been around “for years” when the whole place had a still-setting-up feel—random stuff stacked on counter space, cracked glass in windows that any other place would’ve repaired before opening, tacky decor, and what’s up with the couch in the corner with a pillow and blanket on it? That where the piano man sleeps?! And sh@t I wouldn’t dare try their sushi with that dispassionate-looking, gloveless dude playing with his phone behind the counter. I’ve eaten at hole-in-the-wall places around the Middle East and Southeast Asia, like night markets in Thailand or Indian cafeterias in industrial areas in Saudi Arabia, and there was more care for hygienic food preparation in those places than what I witnessed at Sakura. Lastly the service—others have mentioned the attitude of the waitress/chef/owner??? We didn’t feel particularly welcomed and the disheveled and tacky look of the place wasn’t all that inviting. My recommendation…save your money and get Indian at Namaste instead. At least there you can tell that they have a love for food and want you to have a nice experience.
I didn’t stay at the restaurant long enough to eat because the service was terrible and the waitress was extremely rude. Our drink cups were dirty no one was wearing gloves and they were on their phones. Waited probably 15-20 minutes and no one still took our order. Worst sushi experience. The place was weird inside there was a rice cooker on the floor in the corner
The lady cook here treatment towards me was very rascist. When I walked in she looked at like I wasnt supposed to be there and covered up her purse like I was going to take it. This woman made me feel very uncomfortable to be in the establishment. I will never come back here.
This is one of my favorite lunch locations. They have a small but wonderful Korean menu. The kai-bi is amazing!!
Food was a little above average in taste but definitely overpriced for what it is. It’s a small operation but there was only 4 tables in the whole place and somehow the staff barely said a single word to us or even gave a smile the entire time we were there. I don’t expect great service but just common courtesy would be nice. Not going back!
This is literally my FAVORITE place to eat. NOBODY in Wichita Falls makes authentic, yummy, and correctly made sushi like these folks do. Whether you are ordering To-Go or Dining-In, the food is always beautifully presented and beautifully crafted. Ive never had a wrong order here. The atmosphere is family friendly and inviting to all who come in! 5/5 stars! Im super excited that they are opening a second location!!♡
Ive been eating here for years. My wife had never tried sushi until we ate here and now shes addicted😒 They hve the best sushi in the area! Very experienced, professional, and orders are always righr!!
Im a big germaphobe. The fact they made the sushi fast and didnt wash their hands afterwards and touched my card. The register was filthy too. If you dont wash your hands after that makes me question did you wash your hands before making my sushi.
Absolutely horrible. Went here on a recommendation with several friends and felt more than disappointed. Together we ordered 4 rolls and had two small bottles of sake and the total somehow came out to over $140!? Service was terrible, we waited 40 minutes to get our order taken, several dishes we ordered never even came out. Food was sloppy and tasted old. Could not get out of there fast enough. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. Do not eat here unless you have a desire for mediocre food and highway robbery.
So I finally came to check this place out. The food was good but nothing special. While we ate there the waitress was terrible, she seemed annoyed and mad at everything and we were only attended 2 times that night. Once to order and once again to pay the check. While we were there she seemed alittle nice to another group who seem to be regulars. We will never get that treatment since we wont come back , for okay food youd expect the service would have been at least great but that was probably the worst service I experienced unfortunately.
Ive been coming here for 15 years & absolutely love it. 💚food💚atmosphere💚kind people. kyle, & Hye Chong are amazing sushi chefs & are just absolutely friendly & welcome every single time. I love the fact they play Christian music, will share the word with you, & even pray for you.... Ive grown to adore them!
Ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice pictured $10.11 it had 3 total Shrimp and the smallest portion I have ever ordered and I travel all over the country and to top it off it also came with a small piece of paper in it. I would not recommend it to anyone unless you want to get ripped off. The California Sushi roll was good but for $31.00 through DoorDash definitely not worth it.
Hate to give a bad review but maybe it will help. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism. So years ago I came here all the time and absolutely LOVED IT! Moved away for years then back living here again I remembered Sakuras!! Got excited thinking about it and couldn’t wait to go. Took my 13 yr old daughter for a special lunch date whom is a huge sushi lover. Couldn’t brag or be more happy to take her bc I just knew she would love it as much as I. Well… unfortunately wasn’t the case. We were the only ones there the entire time which is fine not a problem. You’d think with saying that the customer service wouldn’t slip having all the time for us. Nope. Didn’t get greeted. He hardly spoke to us. So as little as possible just to get by. Didn’t feel welcome. Had no people skills in anyway. As we sat and waited for our food it was almost weird to talk to one another so we just kinda whispered giggled made weird eyes and looked around. In doing so…!!! We both noticed underneath piano were 3/4 pairs of shoes just scattered around. Boots slides… ok that’s odd. Whatever. Noticed there was a set of work out weights ok…. Then noticed a couch. Couch no big deal except it had several blankets laid down on it as if it was a pallet and someone slept there. Along with a lounging pillow and another blanket that probably served as the cover blanket for whomever sleeps there….? The more we looked in that whole area it looked like a small efficiency lived in apartment. Way to many personal belongings. That struck as weird very odd and a complete turnoff. If living there is what works for you now then so be it. Not going to judge that but at least hide those personal items keep it professional clean and a classy environment. Anything but. I’m embarrassed for them. Anyone else notice this??!! Bizarre. I felt like I let my daughter down. Wasn’t the special lunch either of us anticipated it to be. Won’t go back
Went last night with my girlfriend and had a horrible experience. For one the service pretty bad. So bad bad that 2 table walked out when we where sitting there. So my gf has a gluten allergy and there menu is not up to date on what is fried and what is not and she ended up with to fried rolls on her plate..you cant just pick around it when you have a allergy! Please understand this was our first and last time going here.
This place used to be quite good. The owners son would make great sushi. But then he would turn the radio to a religious themed rock gospel channel, and start gabbing about his theological journey, which I really did not care to hear about or listen to. When I come to a Japanese restaurant, dont fill my ears with your personal ideological belief system, and how you are "saved". Glad I used chopsticks, because the silverware was dodgy looking; either water stained or not washed well. The rice tasted old, and was chewy. Tried their Bulgolgi, it was like chewing boot leather! The deficits far outweigh the benefits. Never going back again.
Poor hygiene, unresponsive staff, no one to attend the table, never returning back! Ordered steamed dumplings, forgot the entire order and served us the half cooked ones, kimchi fried rice was dipped in sugar syrup and sushi was no good either. GUYS ITS AN OVER HYPED RESTAURANT.
So maybe you have to be a regular to get good service…. We sat down and waiting at least 10 mins to be served ,while waiting another family walked in and got all their food way before we did. We ordered soup as an appetizer and still haven’t gotten that while the ppl that came in way after us has their table full of food. We definitely won’t be back.
While visiting Wichita Falls, my daughter and I came across this gem! What a treasure! The atmosphere made us feel at home, the service was quick, and the sushi was AMAZING! My daughter has a shellfish allergy, and it was no problem here. This will be my sushi home whenever I visit. I’m sold!
I’m a BIG sushi eater, and I’m from the DFW area. Since I’ve been in Wichita Falls I haven’t been able to find my spot... let me tell you! I’m so glad I found this little place. My Husband and I about died, and went to heaven when we ate the “Sexy Roll”, “The Sumo Roll” & the “Crazy Mushroom Roll”.Literally nothing bad to say. We did spend $50 for 3 rolls, but it was well worth the price! Can’t wait to eat here again.
The sushi here is amazing!! Very fresh and well crafted. The cooks/employees are polite and friendly. Keep in mind that the space is a little small, and that there are only a few people working there, and that there will be some wait time. I would say that Sakura would do well to have an actual waitress tending to tables and taking orders, but otherwise, the experience was acceptable. We will be back!
Absolutely delicious!!!! We had six rolls and were so excited to eat them we forgot pictures. The American dream is a fried California roll and it absolutely works. The Crazy Mushroom roll made me wish I lived nearby because it was mind blowing. The honeymoon roll was to die for. We also ordered shrimp fried rice to go.
The sakura roll was the best sushi Ive had in a long time, the kimchi pancake was great, and my friend said her tofu stir-fry was the best thing shed eaten in days. The food was also plated beautifully. They clearly take a lot of care with what they serve.I love all the art on the walls. Murals cover about half the place, and a lot of hanging art as well. Its a cozy place, and I bet itd have an awesome atmosphere if the piano was in use.
Tasty food - terrible experience. Slow service. Mixed up orders, they put two people’s orders on one plate and did not offer a second plate. Did not offer soy sauce. The smallest chirashi bowl offered at any sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. They don’t tell you the price, then tell you to pick whatever you want for the fish (every bowl I’ve ever had has been chef’s choice). Price for two rolls, “chirashi bowl,” and shrimp fried rice? $75. Souvenir from the place? My husband broke off a piece of his tooth in the not-quite-cooked rice. Mom and son were busy not-so-quietly bickering through the duration of our meal - no doubt part of the reason we were pretty much forgotten about. To top it off, the kitchen (which we didn’t see until we paid), was a mess. Will never go back.
I ordered the sushi. This was at the tail end of Covid-19 pandemic so I was the only one sitting in but there was a lot of people coming in to pick up orders. The sushi is a little small and the rice was a little off and the cost was a little pricey but not bad. If come here again. The atmosphere and potential of a good socializing spot is definitely inside. Please check them out for yourself. Also please help out my account by liking my reviews and pics. Thanks everyone!
Avg at best. The venue is very small and the tightness is compounded by the restaurants popularity. We had to wait for a table, which lasted only 5 - 10 min, but could have been longer because the service is extremely slow. It seems there are only three people that were working. Two took orders, got drinks, cooked the food, was cahiers, and bussed the tables ... Thats a lot. While the third made the sushi. On to that: the sushi was average at best. It wasnt bad, but the rolls left some to the imagination. I only had two rolls of the 30 or so to choose from, so Ill certainly return to try my luck at another, but do not have high expectations.
The food was very good, but i went when it was off hours so I cant speak of the atmosphere.
Its a small restaurant. Has a great pianist. We ordered 4 different sushi rolls and an appetizer of yakimondoo. The yaki never showed up. Sadly, not impressed to recommend to those who arent locals. Service was slow, space is small, not so romantic as Google recommended.
Small, dim, nice atmosphere. Food was good, little on the high side. Worth a second trip.
