Chefs entertain at hibachi tables in this comfy Japanese spot also serving unique sushi & cocktails.
My all time favorite place to eat in St.George! If you like sushi and are not sure what to try, give the Mango Tango roll a try. It is amazing! Great place to go on a nice date and even great for a fun dinner with the kids. As for the price, you’ll find expensive meals as well as non expensive meals. There are meals here for the same price you would get at Panda, but Sakura definitely tastes better. Then there are other items like salmon, lobster, filet mignon that are more pricey. So there really is an option for every one. Give them a try. The staff is fun and great as what they do.
This is the best looking restaurant in town and the food is fantastic! The hibachi is great, but we came for sushi this time with fried rice on the side. Delicious! Our server was friendly, prompt, and efficient. Reservations work best, but still worth the wait!
One of the best sushi places I had in a long time. We are from Texas and never imagined that Utah would come through like they did. Absolutely outstanding food and service.
Ive been going to Sakura ever since they opened in St. George, that was at least 10 years ago. My family loves to visit for every special occasion, so weve eaten here a lot. I personally think their sushi is the best in town, their salad is a treat, and they have enough variety on the menu to make anyone happy. The hibachi is very entertaining too and awesome for parties. My only complaint is that theyre so popular now, its hard to stop by and grab my favorite food because the wait is so long!Thank you Jean for caring about your customers, and making my birthdays very special! <3
First time to this location. Arrived at 4:35 p.m. Had less than ten-minute wait. Granddaughters birthday...they treated all of us well and her exceptionally. Our server was superb. Twice filled my water glass without me realizing, which is very rare for me. Attentive without intruding. Hibachi chef was fun, skilled, and engaged.
Wow! The food matches the wonderful spacious new building. Next time Ill try the hibachi section of the restaurant. Today I had the lunch box special with scallops which included miso soup, salad, rice, veggies & sushi. My friend had a lovely shrimp stir fry. Both were served quickly by a well trained waitress. Yummmm!
5 stars because of the amazing food and amazing service me and my family received when we went. Savannah was our server and she was so helpful with choosing the type of sushi we like and making sure our drinks were topped off the entire time. 10/10 recommend.
I personally used to be a regular here for many reasons before they upgraded to a bigger building. The new building is beautiful, but truly I am so disappointed in the quality of food since they switched. I ordered Hibatchi Steak at dinner and I was appalled at how little food was served to me. It looked like the kids meals we order for the children in my family. That happened 3 separate times and I just have stopped going. It is pricey to go and eat there just to not feel satisfied when I leave. I dont think they have improved at all since making the jump to a bigger, more luxurious space. The food does NOT match the building.
The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and the setting was great. We came here with friends for dinner over Labor Day weekend and we were treated exceptionally well. Great service even during one of the busiest times. Our waitress Caroline really made the experience exceptional. She was accommodating, welcoming and warm. She had an excellent memory and took care of our requests and gluten free needs carefully and attentively. Whenever I am in the area, I will be back.
For St George Utah area, Sakura is the best you are going to get for Sushi and a Japanese steakhouse. They have many different choices for entrees, appetizers and sushi. They are very accommodating and friendly. It does get very busy on weekends so you may have to wait. The new building is beautiful and has a great atmosphere!
Excellent service and food! The wait staff is amazing and leaves you wanting for nothing while not bothering you simultaneously, a difficult task to manage. The food was prepared perfectly for the entire table without a side note being missed. The atmosphere is beyond expectations , lively and energetic! The owners are also amazing, once one of our table companions disclosed that it was our anniversary the dessert in the photograph was presented to us. I would highly recommend this fine restaurant.
Fantastic Sushi! 5 Star all the way! Great service and the fish is very fresh! Anyone not giving this place 5 stars have not traveled around the world! You really can’t beat this place! The love boat for two was outstanding and a lot of fish! I was shocked St George has a place this world class!
Service was great, food perfect and the atmosphere WOW…. Overall great experience. We will be returning.
Pros:• Fresh tasting sushi• Clean atmosphere• Kind serviceCons:• N/A
Went to the hibachi part of the restaurant and had an amazing time. We went on a Saturday night and the wait time before getting seated wasn’t as long as I expected it to be. Our server was so funny and nice. The cook was a joy to watch. He also kept cracking up our whole table while he cooked. Definitely would come again!
Some of the most tender and flavorful steak and scallops I’ve ever had!🥩 Huge variety of the freshest and most delicious sushi.🍣🥢 The mango sticky rice dessert is so good you won’t want to share.🥭🍚 The building has some of the most beautiful decor and an exciting atmosphere with the flames coming up off the hibachi grills.🔥 You sit at the grill with other groups of people as strangers and before long you’re all friends laughing together, sharing food and having a great time together. It’s a little expensive, but worth it for the experience or to celebrate a special occasion and the food is really really good! I would highly recommend trying this place.😍🥠
Food is bland with really no flavor and noodles seem like its almost like spaghetti noodles. Sushi isnt the best but is the best thing they have there. Service is just ok I know there busy but still want the basics like refills on my water and to come check on us more then when they bring my food. Used to go all the time at the old location and loved it. But been to the new location twice and it just sucked.
I came in on July 30th with some friends and we had chef Henry for our hibachi experience. He is AMAZING! He came out blasting “Hot In Here” on a big speaker with fire on top of his chef’s hat! He made our group, the couple next to us, and the family on the other side of the table crack up for the entire time he served us. I definitely recommend asking for him if he’s working! The food was fantastic, as always. Sakura is one of the best spots in Saint George.
Went here a few years ago and it was delicious, I was excited to go back! Im no longer excited. The only ok thing was the seaweed salad. The tempura has bland, the sushi was not good. It all tasted old and had no life. The quality has definitely gone down since they moved. Im happy to try again in a few more years hoping the standards have improved.
Trust the other one star reviews, this place has gone down hill really fast. After our dinner, we ordered the mango sticky rice. It’s always has been a good portion for two. Not tonight, barely any rice under the little bit of mango. Asked for the manager and she said that it gets weighed out and the way it looked was right. Are you kidding me? The sushi just isn’t the same either. Don’t waste your money here and hopefully there’s a better sushi spot in town.
I caught the shrimp in my mouth🍤😏Very yummy all around, lunch prices werent bad at all! A fun time catchin shrimp
The food was excellent as was the service and the atmosphere. The new building is absolutely gorgeous! Food and drinks were prompt but not rushed. The aquarium was amazing as well.
Very tasty food, liked the various sushi rolls and the filet mignon was great. Service was also very good, they gave us the cool vip room and that was nice. Very clean and classy restaurant 👌 get there earlier (around 5 if you canor else you will wait very long and parking will be very sparse.
Amazing service. The type of attention to the customers needs, that make all other dinning experiences look bad. Bailey took amazing care of my wife and myself. The food is the best! The new location is amazing! Hands down the best dinning experience in Southern Utah!
Very tasty. We sat at the bar, since we visited on a Saturday night and it was very crowded. We were still able to order off a full menu. The associates were kind and helpful.
Holy moly this place is so worth the wait. We went there the night before and it was a two hour wait on a Tuesday night. Sight. The next night it was till the same wait, but they had an opening at the sushi bar. Yes, please - that will work! So glad we did. Everything was excellent. Great service. Crab Ragoons are light and flaky, love them. I ordered a couple rolls - Zion Roll and Mexican Roll, both excellent! Large cuts of sushi, all fresh and tasty. I ordered the Unagi Dan, very large pieces of eel…. So good.
Okay, honest review: 5 stars to the waitress for being incredibly nice and helpful. Made sure I had my gluten-free options covered.Food - 2 stars and less. Lobster over-salted, salmon dry, steak ordered medium, came well-done. Mochi ice cream was amazing, it’s a definite must! But food not worth the price and we spent + $100.Experience - definitely not for everyone. If you come as a group, you have a table together with a chef cooking in front of you. If you get an older generation chef - you will have fun! Young chef was too shy and couldn’t play the crowd. Also, if you come as a couple you may get a table straight away but you will be seated with random crowd. If the crowd is tense you won’t experience anything pleasant, like it happened with us unfortunately. And aircon was too strong. Overall would not recommend, but all my compliments go to the front of house for making sure everyone feels good!
Finally got over to their new location and it did not disappoint! Absolutely a top restaurant in St George and by far the best sushi. Service was fantastic, food was fresh and delicious. The new location is simply beautiful. Would 10/10 recommend.
As we walked in, we were greeted by a digital aquarium built into the floor. And as we stepped near a fish, it would evade our steps. Way cool and fun for kids.We were seated in the open dining area, as we had selected. We were greeted again by our server, who promptly got our requested drinks and took our selection of meals. My wife enjoyed filet mignon and salmon, while I enjoyed a New York steak and salmon. The soups and house salads were very good. The main course for each of us arrived in a timely manner and was cooked to our preferences. After enjoying our meal, we still had some to take home.Yes, they have the Hibachi grill section for those who want a bit of entertainment with their meal. We enjoyed the Hibachi grill and private chef during a previous night out.I would highly recommend Sakura restaurant.
Sushi was amazing and everyone was pleased with their dinner. I took the time to leave a review because the service was excellent, and this was with a large party which is even more impressive.
Went here for a late lunch with my grandma and WOW! If I could rate higher I would. I was completely blown away at how nice and clean the restaurant was and how professional and kind the servers were. The food was amazing and you get a good amount for the price. I had the most lovely time. We will be back for sure!
POPULAR PLACE! We waited over 2 hours for a table on a Friday evening, and they do NOT accept reservations. That said, its a typical hibachi joint similar to what Ive experienced elsewhere across the country - but still good entertainment and great food. Came here with my extended family and worth the wait (actually, when we heard a 2-hour wait, we actually went to a nearby fun center and played a round of mini-golf, then came back!)
What a beautiful building!! The parking is odd, and since I havent been before, it was confusing. You enter at the backside, closest to St George Blvd, so you have to walk around the building or up the stairs from the underground parking. There is both outside and underground parking. The iron work on the doors is just amazing and the inside is decorated beautifully. The hostess staff wear kimonos to add to the ambiance. They have a lot of sushi choices and a full menu that you can order from your table. They also have a hibachi option. I plan to go back and do that, but reservations are needed. The waiter said 1 to 2 days is typically all you need. They also offer sake and a drink menu.It gets busy so plan on waiting if you are not able to make it ahead of the dinner rush. Its worth the wait.
Beautiful new location inside and out. The food choices are varied and delicious. Sakura is an interactive fun location for gatherings around the grill to enjoy great food. We appreciate the staff knowing how to engage with us while also making us feel comfortable.Waiting times can be long. We had a large group reservation and still had to wait a good 45 minutes to be seated. While the restaurant is visible from St George Boulevard, it can be deceiving where to find the parking lot by driving off the Boulevard then down another side street.
Beautiful location! The architecture of the new building is amazing. The bathrooms are magnificent. Not to mention the food was awesome! I had shrimp hibachi for lunch, a roll of sushi with fried rice & I loved it all! The prices cannot be beat either. Definitely recommend!
Everything you can expect from a quality Japanese steakhouse. Friendly courteous service and top notch food. Definitely a fun dining experience!
Had not been in awhile but still a big fan of the food. Main courses were very good and fun to watch them be cooked. Sushi was good, not the best I have had but good. Very busy but they get through a lot of people pretty fast. Parking can be tricky, especially for bigger trucks.
Excellent customer service. Excellent food. Fresh food. Fresh beverages. Clean establishment. Our chef was very funny.
Great food and great service. The sushi is excellent, and the hibachi was fun. Very tasty. It felt like personal attention despite so many people there.Update: The new Sakura is beautiful! Also very busy. The sushi was lovely and tasty. The chef was hilarious and the kids loved his entertaining way of preparing our food.
Sakura never disappoints. Good food and good value. Just a couple of criticisms. The lights were so bright inside and parking is still a total pain in the butt. Those aside recommended.
Sakura is in the their new building. It is very large and modern. The ambiance is amazing, as is the food and service. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Southern Utah.
I really enjoyed eating here with my family! We got in right at 4:30 when they opened and we were able to sit down right away. As we looked over the menu the place filled up quickly. We like to try new hibachi grills and have been to quite a few. I would say that the price was slightly cheaper than others. Food was great all around! We ordered filet mignon, shrimp, and chicken between the three of us and the filet was definitely the best!Service was great during our meal! Our server was on top of our drinks and very polite. The cook had a great attitude and did well with the traditional tricks while cooking. I would certainly visit again next time we are in town.
The wait was long but worth it. The wait was even longer for a Hibachi table, but when our time came to be seated they informed us that a spot at a Hibachi table had opened up and so we were able to have the full experience. The food was great, the service was top notch and, being their first time, the experience was one our daughters will never forget. Thanks Sakura!
This place looks beautiful from the parking to the front entrance. There is lots of options for parking. There are a total of 12 Hibachi dining areas. Decor is gorgeous walking in. At the door is a beautiful cherry blossom tree where you are able to take a selfie. Look down as you walk in…there will be an animated fish game that kids could chase the creatures from under the sea. Look up and the light fixtures are shaped like jellyfish. Beautiful décor. We made reservations and seating was on time. The front of house staff were wonderful, courteous and welcoming. The ladies were wearing beautiful robes. When you get to your seating at your table….there is a different atmosphere established by the back of the house. There were 4 bussers cleaning the next dining area, throwing left over scraps from the last guest to each other. Our experience at our table were interrupted a couple of times because we were distracted by the horsing around that the bussers were doing. They were very loud and unprofessional with their profanity. Our server was ok. She seemed disorganized with her notes. She was confused on who to serve soup/salad…she is auctioning out our soup and salad, along with our drinks hoping someone would just claim it.Another server decided that instead of going to get condiments for her table, she chose to take from our table instead of taking from an empty table. Our Hibachi chef entered obnoxiously loud and was condescending at times. We asked how to pronounce his name, as a sign of respect….he states, “don’t worry”, just call me Joe.We are here for the experience and part of the experience is learning new cultures and their name is part of that.He started off with an accent but as our conversation continues, and he informs me that he has been here for 11 yrs….all of sudden his accent disappeared. The rest of our conversation was without a accent. His cooking on the grill was entertaining but his jokes were dry and needed some shoyu sauce to give it some flavor. When he decided to do the the shrimp toss, he threw it, not toss…HE THREW IT! They landed on our shirts, on the floor, on the table….but not where intended, which was the guest mouth. He purposely ruined our clothes by throwing food at us. The food we paid for was being thrown at us….make that make sense? This place is OVERRATED and is not worth the experience.
The food here is great, the staff and owners are amazing people. Unfortunately the wait on a Saturday night was well over 2 hours. Plan ahead, no reservations taken. Worth the wait through.
If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. My husband and I just left after a PHENOMENAL meal and the most incredible service. We are on our Honeymoon, and the when the waitress discovered this, she treated us to a complimentary sushi roll and dessert. She engaged in friendly conversation, was extremely sweet and kind, and made sure that we were well taken care of. The food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. I seriously can not say enough good things about this place. It was simply amazing. ✨
AYCE (All you can eatis from 4:30-6:30! The chefs were great at the sushi bar and the staff were helpful and friendly. Really nice clean atmosphere as well. I would have say my only complaint was too many rolls with tempura which I dont like. Otherwise best place in town for excellent sushi
We ate here for my Bday last night. The sushi is outstanding! The hibachi was probably a solid 3 1/2 stars in our opinion was a little bland. The service on the other hand was a 10 out of 5 stars. Everyone from the front door too our busser was so so friendly. Our hibachi chef was so funny. He had us laughing beginning to end. Thank you for making my bday dinner so special.
It was a fun dinner experience for the family. Our kids really enjoyed the entertainment and watching our chef cook the meals in front of us with fire volcano, making music beats with spatulas, and flipping shrimps in the air into our mouths. The noodles were a bit saltier than our liking but the waitress noticed it. She offered to recook it. We asked for steamed rice to help with the saltiness instead and she was very kind and caring with excellent customer service throughout. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fun time and a great meal.
We love Sakura. Our interactions with the staff have always been fantastic. My husband lovesbthe thick slices of sashimi here. Im not a sushi girl, but I do like their California Roll. We recently visited with a party of 8 at the Hibachi grill. It was amazing. They cooked my food first to avoid my shrimp allergy. They also provided a separate, kitchen made portion for a friend that needed gluten free sauces. They have special desserts for bday celebrations. They also have kid size portions. Great atmosphere and the hibachi chefs give a good show.
