Loft-like retail shop offering premium Japanese sake & drink ware, plus tastings & special events.
If you are looking for a fun date idea, or are a Sale enthusiast, come check out this place! We came here for a Sake Tasting event for our date night and we absolutely loved it. We sampled 9 different sakes and learned about our preferences. They taught us what kind of Sake to order based on our preferences. The service was fantastic as well.I highly recommend this place.
The owner is knowledgable and inviting. The front area is intimate with a small group and spartan - the focus is really on the taking in the sake and enjoying yourself. You can sample different sake, which is a great way to ease yourself into same for a beginner or broaden your palate for a sake connoisseur. For those who know what they like: buy a bottle, have a cup, and take the rest home.Food is NOT for sale at Sake Nomi, but outside food is allowed - my friends and I ordered from Senor Carbon (basically across the street), which was delicious.
Terrific sake bar and store. A must visit for sake lovers.
Best place in Seattle. Not best place if you want sake- literally the best place
This place is great! The owner is super kind and helped me understand the differences in quality. Didnt make us feel pressured and offered to let us sample something before we bought a bottle. I will absolutely be returning and highly recommend!
This is a great place to try something new every week. Good prices, great atmosphere, even better selection!
Wonderful place to sip sake, buy sake, and watch sump.
WOW this place is awesome. The owner had a fantastic variety and knowledge of sake for the area, and the flights were top tier. I tried 6 bottles and bought two of the best ones and had a great time in a nice, subdued space. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to try interesting sake.
Great place to try some different sakes with a weekly rotating menu
Dude! This place is wicked awesome! Let Johnnie walk you through what you dont know or just be experimental. You cannot go wrong. Was such a great experience and a new favorite!
My favorite place in Seattle, hands down
I stumbled upon Sake Nomi as it was next to an underground tour I signed up for...was an excellent experience! I highly recommend stopping in if youre interested in learning about sake...if not, still swing by because Johnnie is super knowledgeable & very engaging so even the novice wont feel out of place!
Jimmy has a fantastic variety of Japanese sakes
This quiet bar is definitely worth checking out if you are near Chinatown and enjoy a good chilled sake.
I love this place! The owner is amazing. The sake is wonderful and one time we were there on an afternoon, just my husband and I, and he taught us all about sake making. 🧡
One of our favorite bars in Seattle, and by far the best place for saké. They have an excellent selection of bottles, as well. Johnnie is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Their new space on Cherry Street is a great date spot: ample seating, beautiful lighting, and usually quiet.
I lived in Japan for three years, so I had the good fortune to imbibe a lot of premium sake (and a lot of cheap sake as well, TBH, haha). When my friends expressed curiosity about trying some quality sake, I knew I couldnt expect to find a good brand in the grocery store (average sake tastes astringent to me). Enter Sake Nomi. I pinged them on Facebook and they confirmed that they carried Kenbishi Kuromatsu, which I had at Watarus and have been wanting again ever since. KK is a premium sake that tastes good warm or hot, whereas most premium sake is usually chilled.I ended up buying Bride of the Fox as well -- my friends liked this one a lot (we collectively killed the bottle); it has a stronger presence than Kenbishi Kuromatsu, which is pleasantly mellow and smooth. They both go down like water; you have been warned.Johnnie assisted me in the store as I browsed. Very friendly, unpretentious. Dont worry if you dont know a lot about sake (I honestly dont myself!). Sake Nomi only stocks the good stuff and they can help you find something youll enjoy.
One of my favorite places to stop for a drink in Seattle. The Sake selection is phenomenal and they have some great Japanese beers as well. It is a fantastic place to grab a bottle on my way home, or have a drink before grabbing dinner. They only have drinks and no food which makes it a great place for a quick stop.
Good old sake bar, it is such a rarity in Northern Corridor that you can find a shop that sells and serve sake. The old master here knows a lot about sake so you can pick his brain on that topic. This tiny little shop reminds me of that family shop in Osaka that has been around since the 1900 that shop has that same characteristic as this one. Simple and quiet where you can sip sake without rancorous music or incessant talking of a traditional bar.
The best place in Seattle to get sake, both at the bar and for taking home. The owner is incredibly knowledgable and friendly, and will help you navigate their massive selection. Every time Im in the neighborhood I pop in for a drink and end up taking a bottle or two home. Kanpai!
New sake tasting is available on every Tuesday
This is my new favorite bar - anywhere. Intimate and casual. Someone new to sake or a sake-nerd would all feel welcome here. The owner Johnnie and his clientele were interesting conversation - from Japanese aesthetics to film trivia. We sampled both sake flights and each one was full of delightful flavor. We will be back!
Amazing Japanese cultural nook in the heart of Pioneer Square. Stop by for the best Sake in town and a great conversation with owner Johnnie!
Unbeatable selection of top shelf sake. Very unusual to find a place like this in any city. Johnnie knows his stuff and is happy to give as much information about sake and Japanese culture as youre interested in hearing. A Japanese diplomat stopped in one night and mentioned it feels like japan. If Im ever in Seattle - Sake Nomi is 100% on the must revisit list.
Sake Nomi is a very cool place with great ambiance and selection of Sake
The place to shop for 200+ Japanese rice wines in Seattle!
Learn about the unique characteristics of SAKE from a true expert. I adore a tasting while seated at a table surrounded by bookshelves filled with beautiful sake bottles . Bring your own rice crackers.
This is quite possibly the best shop to get quality import Sake. UNRIVALED.
If you know anything about sake or want an education: come to Sake Nomi. Browse the shelves and learn yourself some facts; have a flight of tasters guided by the master Sake connoisseur. Buy a bottle (or twoand delight your friends with a new and exotic taste. Cool space thats easily accessible in Pioneer Square.
This is my favorite place for finding a great sake. He serves a weekly new flight to help you find the tones youre after for take home sake. Ill personally recommend trying the Spicy plum wine. Its really something else. Took that one home to family in Cali and they loved having something totally different than the usual.
Loved this cozy little bottle shop! Have been meaning to check it out for quite some time, and the final straw was being pointed here for a sake I really enjoyed at Junkichi in Capital Hill. While they did not have the bottle I was after, the lovely gentleman there was able to recommend an alternative, which is currently chilling in my fridge.I came here with some coworkers not realizing how tiny the space is! Totally fine though, we gathered around a small standing table and all had sake flights, which were very very nice. Great service, and so much sake to choose from for purchase! Appears to be six on the tasting menu at any one time, and I was told the menu was rotated weekly on Tuesday. I will definitely be coming back here!TLDR: Great bottle shop, great tastings, be aware of small amount of seating.
Always get a sampler set + a bottle from here, and have never been disappointed. A true gem of Seattle.
I had a great time, Its under traveled which means its perfect for small groups of people (4 people in my case). Nothing is of poor quaintly, but some of the sakés are for a more refined pallet. The place also has a very knowledgeable staff.
Favorite sake place in the city. Rotating sake and all are great. Will become a regular
A great place for authentic Japanese Sake and Beer with a knowledgeable bartender
Friendly place and lots of really good sake.
Very cool space. Friendly and knowledgeable owner. Sample your way through some excellent selections and then take home the one you like most. Perfect way to unwind at the end of the day.
Johnny is awesome and knowledgeable. Great place to go to try sake tasting.
Great place to try and learn about different kinds of sake.
Been here several times. Johnny is a great bartender/teacher regarding the intricacies and nuances of sake - very informative. Intimate and cozy setting. Prices are very reasonable and sake is an order of magnitude better than what Ive had in sushi bars. Highly recommend.
Johnnie knows his craft. Love that the samplers are reasonably priced.
I show up here once a year and its always fantastic. Johnny is friendly and knowledgeable, making sake accessible to anyone who comes in.
Fantastic bmsakw bar and shop. Great selection and prices, and friendly, welcoming atmosphere and service. Cant wait to visit again.
We were provided a tasting of 6 different sake and learned about the ways this drink is made. The proprietor was informative and helpful. An eye-opening and tasty experience was enjoyed.
This is a terrible restaurant. The foods were nothing special, just as same as other sushi restaurant. I waited 30 minutes after order, than we stayed there another 50 minutes to wait our last meal, then the waiter told us he sent to the wrong table.
Small place off the main street. There should be a sign on the sidewalk to point it out. Normally very quiet and sake tasting available. There are a lot of sake available for purchase. Flights are available for purchase too. I come here when I am looking for something different then what I can find at any grocery store. The gentleman that runs the place is super nice. He is very knowledgable about sake so makes it easier to find good suggestions. The only downside for most people is there no food for purchase here. You need to bring your own, or eat beforehand. I think not serving food adds a bit of charm to this place.
Great selection of sake, very friendly and knowledgable staff. Great location in Pioneer Square district. Awesome place for a flight of quality sake.
Great opportunity for to enjoy a sake tasting and Johnny was an excellent host. Will be back with more friends.
Great place if youre looking for premium sake. The owner is friendly and inviting and loves educating visitors on the finer points of Japanese sake through delightful tastings. But be forewarned, this is not a restaurant, its a liquor store that only offers sake.
great place to learn about sake, try some really excellent stuff. small, very personable staff.
