Nice, well preserved church
Amen. Happy to visit a UNESCO heritage site
Interesting place if you’re Catholic and/or you enjoy looking at buildings from the Spanish era in Philippines.
Beautiful historic Church… This is the Main Catholic Cathedral of Vigan City…
One of the beautiful Cathedral of the Philippines.
Old churches always put me in awe. It holds so many stories of people from that place. This church is also known as the Metropolitan cathedral of St. Paul, the apostle. Part of UNESCO heritage site located in the heart of Vigan. It haa a baroque architecture built during the Spanish era and considered as the seat of the Roman Catholic devotion for centuries. Also, here lies the remains of Bishop Versoza, 4th Catholic bishop and servant of God. Right across the church is Plaza Salcedo.
Beautiful❤️
It is great to see this Baroque-style cathedral with buttresses on the sides. For enthusiasts, it’s a must-see as it is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
Near the dancing fountain and calle crisologo. Beautiful statues in carousels.
Love how they preserve the place,It only shows how they value the history behind it.
I love it
One of the iconic, historical and oldest church here in Vigan City. A must visit.
Its a nice place to visit.Never miss this place evrytime i visit ilocos🥰
Such a pretty place to visit. The old, narrow streets and the enchanting open capiz windows will transport you back to an era where people around you were busy going about their day wearing filipiñana and barong. How positively glorious would that be to witness that in person? Times like this i am reminded of how old my soul feels.Just a piece of advice, make sure to visit this place in the afternoon. My companions and i arrived at abt 12 noon so the restaurants were packed with customers dining in and the streets deserted because of the unforgiving heat that has given me a massive headache but still was worth it! I will definitely be back to visit.
The cathedral peaceful & solemn, nice structures.
2009 Field Trip with friends. Vigan City Philippines. Reminds me of Italy in a way. Beautiful scenery.
I love the architectural design inside the cathedral especially the carving on the main doors of the cathedral as well as the arches of the ceiling.
[During pandemic] Like all churches in this period, the cathedral is only open on certain times of the day to a limited number of church goers. This is also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. And because of its location, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site declaration for the Historic Town of Vigan, Ilocos Sur. The stone structure was built in the 17th century. From what Ive read, it has been damaged by the major earthquakes of the period and consequently reinforced and rebuilt in baroque style of the 18th century. Youll notice too that the belfry is detached from the structure of the church. While the façade may not be as impressive as the other historical churches, the interior is just awesome. The main alter is stupendous with its silver panels. It has canonic choir loft that maximizes the big churchs over all acoustics. As a whole, it is airy, bright and conducive for reflection and contemplation.A tour of this historic town wouldnt be complete without stopping by the Vigan Cathedral. Anyway, all points of interests are actually adjacent one another.
A Catholic church built during Spanish Era. Near Plaza Maestro, Plaza Salcedo & Burgos, and Calle Crisologo.I like the frontage of the building and the pintings on its ceiling.
I visited this old Catholic Church twice. It is here the first time I saw a grave marker in the column of the church.
Beautiful historic church. Wouldve appreciated it more if the sun was up.
The church is beside the dancing fountain of vigan
Serene and peaceful place

Very beautiful church. Its just a pain to find a parking spot.
The old church has been preserved. Old flooring tiles are still the same. Its a solemn place for those who wish to pray
Never had the chance to go inside the church but i took some pictures in front of the church., Based on its structure, its very old but you can see how the locals maintain and preserve this heritage
Amazing church..beaituful.
The cathedral has maintained its old world charm
Specially like the statues around the church at night.
Instagramable!!! The old structure of the church was preserve. Very nice view
This Church is huge and well-maintained. I was so blessed to be in the 6pm English Mass. It was great to be here!
I loved this "earthquake baroque" church in downtown Vigan.Ask for the schedule for the dancing fountains and lights show held on the square in the front since theyre worth your time.
The "big church" as we locals call it, its a good example of Spanish colonial church architecture in the "earthquake baroque" style (squat with heavy buttresses for reinforcement). As a kid I loved the large paintings of the saints hung on the columns. They had old-masters feel to them. I was sad when the "renovation" was done as the colors made them look garish and looked like they were made by an amateur.
It is great to visit a seat of the Roman Catholic Religion in Vigan. Historically, this Cathedral is one of the oldest in our country where the First Filipino Bishop served. It is located in the very heart of the City. You can have your anticipated mass here at 6 PM and at seven eat your dinner in the nearby restaurants or food store. After an hour, you can find your place in the area where the famous show of the Dancing Fountains are. This place is located right in front of the Vigan Cathedral. Once the show is over, you can walk the rest of the Calle Crisologo to buy your souvenirs.
So unique... Visit to see it and pray seriously.
This church is a good place to add to your pilgrimage tour. Make sure to visit Plaza Salcedo after praying in Vigan Cathedral or head to Vigan Empanadahan to munch of the famous Vigan Empanada. If you want to go direcctly to Calle Crisologo, then just walk several blocks from here.
Its a very beautiful Cathedral with many statues and altars. Its a great place to worship. Flat screen TVs enable people at the back to see the priest and altar.
Another wonderful landmark in Vigan. A must visit for catholics :-)
It is very amazing church. God bless and more power Vigan👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Well-maintained despite its age.
This church is one of the very few in the country that has twin pulpits.
Ancient church, beautifully built.
Always go to the church of the town youre visiting, to thank God for the safe trip.
Vigan Cathedral and the bell tower right beside it form part of the heart of the heritage citys plaza. I love how this church is always welcoming to travelers and locals alike on any day of the week.
