Saint Mary's Cathedral Basilica, Halifax - Catholic cathedral in Halifax, Canada
Stunning catholic cathedral. Shame it was not open on my visit.
Awesome place to visit and pray..
I happened to see this beautiful bride and groom today and I could not help it! I had to post their pics. Congratulations! Very beautiful
Nice basilica!
Lovely OLD church! Beautiful carved details and stained glass from a past era.
A pretty basilica to visit even if only interested in architecture π
Attended Mass here yesterday. Seemed like an engaged congregation from the singing and responses. Church itself is undergoing some resoration. Plenty of space for all. The priests were all men, the readers were all women and the servers were all boys. Incense was used during the celebration. The sermon was devoted to the Lords Prayer. Hymn books are available in every pew. Rath DΓ© oraibh uilig.
Stunning structural design... π
Beautiful cathedral. If you have visited many cathedrals this one may not stand out. It was beautiful but less to see and learn about than other cathedrals Ive visited (say, Cusco or Seville).
It had a beat, I could dance to it, I give it two thumbs up, way up!
I grew up in St.Marys .I was there yesterday for a celebration of life for a dear friend.
Stunning. Almost crashed a funeral to get inside but opted not to. Wish the cemetery across the street had been open to walk through!
It was an awesome.e experience.
Im never sure how to respond to a prompt to review a parish, but here goes: Excellent Catholic-ing, 5/5 would Catholic here again.
This is a beautiful example of architectural design and excellence. A pleasure to admire. There are alot of details the more you look. I did not go inside but from the outside it is exciting to have had seen this beautiful building. Night lights add a certain ambiance.
Great architecture
Gorgeous building with a lot of architectural detailing. Even if you dont go inside, admire from the outside during the day and night.
Magnificent gothic cathedral in downtown Halifax. The stained glass are breathtaking and it is such a good thing the frescos were restored on the cathedrals apse. It is a beautiful witness of the Catholic faith.
Beautiful church with an awesome cemetery across the street. The parking lot that the city built beside the church was built on top of a cemetery and the dead werent relocated so dont forget to say hello to the dead when you park your car on top of them
Really nice church, getting some upgrades to their AV setup. New priests give great homilies.
Really a pleasant and divine place for worship. I can really feel the presence of God....
Pretty difficult to say anything bad about this very historic church and congregation right in the middle of downtown Halifax. The only cathedral in the area, it has WONDERFUL architecture inside and out, with delightful old-fashioned stained glass windows, a wickedly good organ, splendid music program, excellent acoustics - the complete package!! Also, many FIRST RATE community services are based in this congregation: it is SOLIDLY committed to Christian service of those who need assistance in the area.
My sister and her husband Roland & Marie Therese Levesque got married in your church and are always there. Your Church is beautiful. Thank you for taking care of them.
The church is beautiful, high vaulted ceiling with beautiful stain glass windows telling the life of Christ, paired with famous images from the old testament or Hebrew Bible. The recent restoration of the murals at the front is also a highlight, especially seeing the improvements week to week.
Historical,Miraculous and a Very Beautiful Church in Downtown Halifax.. Were always been here every sunday For Morning Mass.
Beautiful old Cathedral. Worth getting off the bus to check it out.
Absolutely love attending the Basilica. Very welcoming to my family and I
I volunteer there at the Outreach program for 6 years now and I love helping others.
Very peaceful church where you can concentrate for praying..
Although Im not a catholic (by far!), a nun invited my auntie and I into the church for open prayer. It was incredibly beautiful within and we found the atmosphere solemn and calming. The renovations are absolutely stunning!
We did a quick stop while in Halifax just to see the beautiful church from the inside. It was stunning. They do tour of the church throughout the day but when we went there was a service being held. The church is beautiful from the outside and just as stunning inside.
Excellent. A holy place that instills reflection. I love the feel of the building.
Beautiful building - took a few pics but did not get a chance to see it inside.
Beautiful key stone piece of architecture in downtown Halifax. Makes the grand parade such a nice place to sit and take a break from all the hills.
Great architecture and design....very clam and quiet place...
they can always do more think its time of these ppl to serve hot meals instead of sandwiches all the time ppl have a hard time finding food to eat something ...only allow ppl one sandwich its a rough place ppl go cause have nowhere else to go for those who have less to start with
I came to.them when i felt out faith. They talk to me helped me somewhat
Nice church. I recommend Sunday evening services for better ambiance and zeal. Saturday night service has good music too.
A grand old cathedral basilica. Not overly decorated, but then that draws ones attention to the Altar and our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.... and the exquisite stained glass windows.
Have worshiped here a few times and found this a true spirit filled sanctuary that is a blessing for the faithful and searching.
Great place to worship! One may only hope they keep it up... Want peace and quiet? Come here.
Love this church and its history. A must see if your in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. Located in the downtown area close to hotels, shopping and restaurants. Theatre up the street along with unique shops and Public Gardens.
Lovely old cathedral, now if they can only get the clergy in line.
Catholic Church previously in the middle of scandals that involved children and priests.
Somewhat intimidating, awe-inspiring nonetheless
A lovely lace of worship in the heart of downtown Halifax. The stained glass windows and architecture are beautiful.
Nothing special, European ones much better
Not religious, but I do appreciate the historic esthetic that this old building inspires. I especially like the contrast between the Gothic look of the cathedral with the modern Maritime center in the background. Many great photo opportunities here.
One of the largest marys cathedral in City of Halifax.. Great location .. very good atmosphire ..Church was built in the ancient times like 1980 or sth... has got a beautiful europian piece archetectual elegance.... amazing intricate carvings and glass painting can be visible inside the church ... have holi mass everyday .. confession upon request .... cool place to be.....ββββββπ
I am going there for a long time. They didnt claim to provide financial support, so didnt ask for it and not judging them as evil. Nobody pushed me out for offering nothing except my prayers. Im not the one to judge but the one to seek peace.
