Saint Hilda's Anglican Church - Anglican church in Katoomba, Australia
Brilliant concert by the Phoenix Choir, Conductor Amy MooreClassy soloists and Kanimbla String QuartetSchuberts Mass a fitting finale with smooth harmony changes and wonderful attention to dramatic details..Thankyou
Welp I dont know about the church per-say but can confirm there is plenty of helping with those homeless & in need. To the right side of the church is a place that offered me a clean shower, towel & shave.Plus I chatted with some of the folks there & apparently there is more support programs/services held often in the area.Something thats pretty good for folks in need like myself.I dont know if it has nothing to do with the church might be a separate held thing(?but am very grateful for the kindness shown to me. (:
Ableist, classist, and manipulative. I told Rev. Murrey that Im on the Autism Spectrum, to explain why I may sometimes appear "spacy" or "not all there" to the untrained eye. I also mentioned that I was struggling financially, hence my preference to attend church when food is served. I never mentioned my racial background or my personal issues beyond that, and I never mentioned anything about alcohol or drug use. For context, I dont drink alcohol, except very sparingly at special events. It started when Murrays wife cooked a Hindu soup dish on the 10 of December, assuming that I was Hindu without even asking about my racial background, based only on my dark hair, olive skin, and my mentioning of my personal beliefs in witchcraft and karma, and how they manifest in the Bible (I actually white/aboriginal/Polynesian, as far as I know).I was willing to brush it off until Murrey invited me to the church on Tuesday, the 14th of December at 12pm, implying that it would be another sermon, but not going into detail about what would be happening that day. When I arrived, I found out I was tricked into attending an Alcoholics Anonymous session, to which I asked the lady in charge if there had been a mistake, explain that I never mentioned. She seemed just as confused as me when I explained that I never mentioned alcohol to Murrey. I politely said goodbye and left. The assumptions made about me, based on radically ambiguous appearance, my financial situation and the outward traits of my neurological condition, left me feeling humiliated, confused, distressed and horribly misjudged. Please do not attend St Hildas Anglican Church if you or your family members are poor, neurodivergent, or POC in anyway. Its not worth the heartache.
