Saigon On Main - Vietnamese restaurant in Penticton, Canada
Had several take out dinners in the last month (june and I have to say BEST FOOD IN PENTICTON , and very reasonable pricesand large portions, always fresh , and very flavorful, just a note about tonights dinners, flavour was wonderful as usual but chow mein was very dry, and the sweet and sour pork very fatty couldnt eat some of it , just mushy chunks of fat, new cook?
Great place for some Canadian Chinese food, lots of options and combos at affordable prices. Never greasy or soggy, but crisp and/or well sauced.
Had a terrible evening out tonight at this restaurant!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, dinner for 4 on Father’s Day was disgusting. 69$ no chicken in the chicken chow mein, no pork in the pork fried rice, all noodles no cabbage. Sweet n sour pork was thick n goopy no pineapple. Never again do not waste your money!!!
Our favorite Chinese + Vietnamese place in Penticton!Theyre always so polite and helpful, plus its the only Chinese place in town where we havent got food poisoning.
Take out order. Probably the best tasting Chinese food Ive had in Penticton in years (the bar isnt very high).
Meal was good, service was excellent.
The waitress was very pleasent and polite. Service was fast and we felt like they wanted us here :). Huge portions, enough for dinner the next day. It was very very good as well, was pleasantly surprised! We had the Saigon lemon chicken, veggie chow mein and the sizzling chicken. Great experience :)
Very tasty food and generous portions. Very quiet dining.
Ordered take out. Chinese food combo for 3 and substituted the beef chop suey for ginger beef - a $5 up charge - which I didn’t mind as we love ginger beef. Bring the take out home and it was cold. Not hot, not warm, barely like warm - cold! A bunch of noodles in the chow mein were hard and crunchy, but were cooked at some point so not raw. The pork fried rice was bland and the peas looked to have been reheated a time or two…they were so shrivelled and discoloured - definitely not a fresh dish. The sweet and sour pork was actually fridge cold in some of the bites we took and the egg rolls were over cooked/way over fried. The ginger beef that we were charged an extra $5 for was AWFUL. The worst ginger beef we have ever had!!! It was very soggy, chewy, luke warm and didn’t look appetizing at all.We have ordered from Saigon a few times before and found the food to be alright/decent. This was far from alright. This was disgusting. Will not be ordering from there again.
I tried this restaurant for the first time with a take out order. The food was ready on time and very good. I would definitely order from them again.
Thankyou.....for the excellent meal...everyone.....we.ll be back for more......😋
The noodles were over cooked in my soup, the beef was dry one of my salad roll was sliced down the middle which made it pretty much impossible to eat. As well as no cutlery chopsticks or napkins. Thats a first and last
Its a bit pricey for what you get but most other Chinese restaurants are the same. The veitnam spring rolls are really good
Excellent food friendly service. Nice menu to choose from.
What a lovely place. Beautiful decor.Food delicious! Very clean!Service very attentive and friendly.
I wass soo..utterly Haangaary when I arrived at Saigon On Main and thiss fixed it all 🙃😋
We have been ordering food from Saigon on Main for quite some time now and having it delivered. Food is delivered by a friendly, polite person and its always hot and fresh. We will continue to order from here.
Delicious fresh vegetable rolls and the Pho Ga had good flavour, the owner was very courteous and polite.
Very DisappointedPlaced a $90.00 order tonight, took it home and it was so disgusting, I use to get take out from here all the time but after tonight never againI called them to let them know how dissatisfied I was, the owner said no body else has complained so can’t be that bad. The food was so bland, no flavour the egg foo young did not taste correct at all but the owner does not seem to care about what’s coming in and not what going out
20 minute take out.Good size orders.Decent price.Clean.
service was terrible to start. Food was terrible. Spring rolls were have burnt and smelled like feet bad!! got one prawn in my chow main. not to mention no chop sticks or forks. will never order again and highly recommend not going. safe your self the frustration and go somewhere else!
My delivery order came within 30 mins. Was still really hot & delivery guy was so nice & polite. Taste & flavor was spot on !! Thank you 😁
Food was good. But ordered 2 orders of Spring rolls and all of them where over cooked and burnt. And the employees would not listen to us about the rolls.
Pick up food is okay. Terrible atmosphere with kids running around all over the place. I think they are just treading water and no Vietnamese coffee who ever heard of such a thing.
One star because we came here when it said it was open but it was actually closed. Drove with kids across town just to find ourselves looking for another place. This rating is not about their food or service.
Not sure why the bad reviews best springrolls ever also good sesame sesame chicken everything I like is done right I think its one of the best in town.....owner may need better cooks but otherwise great food.... Vietnamese spring rolls best food in town
Great service, great food and great value. Best food Ive had in a very long time. And the service was above and beyond. Will definitely return. Well done!
As far as Asian fusion food goes in Penticton, this place is decent.Their deep fried wontons are always good. Some of their other dishes arent great. I do not recommend the coconut crepes. They are very over-priced for the small portion of what mostly consists of egg and bean sprouts. The yellow chicken curry is good. The singapore mei fun needed some more salt, but was otherwise standard and not disappointing.Ive returned here (take-out onlya few times.
Comparing the food with the Vietnam restaurants in metro Vancouver, the food are little different and beef in the beef noodle taste strange.
No stars! Gross food . Ignorant staff. still made me pay when after tasting each item on my plate and all was horrible. Only discounted me $2.00.
good foodfast service.good atmosphere.ordered dinner for three..fed five with 3 ; 12 plus year old kids.
Menu is too much chinese. It needs way more vietnamese dishes. Food quality ok but we were looking forward to Viet meal. To see mostly chinese on menu very dishartening
A waist of $40Food is no were near the quality to bother. The customer service on a complaint after delivery order was to hang up on us 😔
My wife and I have ordered from Saigon a few times now, it’s always fresh and prepared the way we like it.
Service was less than dazzling and the food was nothing special. It was all just ok... Which says why there was only 2 other tables at dinner time on a Thursday evening.
Ordered take out the other night. Absolutely awful. The most bland chow mein I’ve ever had. The worst part was the ginger beef... it was breaded and disgusting I threw it in the garbage. The Wonton soup didn’t impress me, only had 2 wontons in the entire container (which was the full sizeI will never return. Sad part is when you complain to places like this they won’t offer any sort of compensation.
This is one one of the spots I would never eat twice, I looked up Pho and this spot showed up, honestly I wish it didnt, and I tried to talk to the owner and did not care.
Had a pretty sad bowl of pho. Soup was bland and the noodles were wrong. The rest of the menu is more Chinese than Vietnamese. Dont know why Saigon is in the name. The staff was friendly.
Decent portion if you need to grab n go for the road. Spring rolls and fried rice with a portion of Thai chicken, and bbq pork were just ok. Expected a rare beef pho but service was very slow. Waiting.....
Used to be a great place to eat. Not now. Spent 60 bucks on takeout, pick up myself. Way overcooked....fryer oil had not been changed for awhile...cook for a living so i know that oil/deep fat fryers not cleaned or oil swapped out for fresh in a while. Sooo disappointed. Used to be my go to for takeout.
The service was painfully slow even though there was only 3 tables. Then when we received our food it was a disappointment.Plus, we were served old lukewarm coffee. Never will i return or recommend this place...
Meat had clearly been previously frozen.. staff was more worried about closing the restaurant than the customers that were in it.
Ive eaten at plenty of Saigon locations. This place was awful. What a complete disappointment. Not even close to their reputation elsewhere.
One of the worst places to eat I town in my experience. The two waitresses fought and yelled in front of everyone trying to eat . Never been back since
Had to argue with the manager for 10 minutes after paying over $50, just to get any kind of utensils to eat with.AVOID THIS DUMP# sweet and sour sauce = watered down#curry sauce = watered down#poor quality beef used in all dishes#really horrible chow mein#POOR QUALITY FOOD FOR HIGH PRICES !!!
We made an order for pick up, and they gave it to someone else. Didnt say sorry or offer anything in compensation for their mistake, or even offer to make our food again for us.
The best Chinese food in Penticton!Took 16 people out for a birthday party and the service was excellent as well as the food. Will be back!
Ordered lemon grass with vermicelli instead of rice. Got a deconstructed "lemon grass" meal which was, rice(I specifically asked them to use the noodles), carrots, broccoli, and cold chicken on the side with fish sauce. So bland. Also ordered the chicken curry. Got a soupy bland mess of curry chicken to pour on my meal. Horrible over all. Restaurant smelled like chemicals when I picked up the food. Lost my appetite after three bites.
Im pretty passionate about Pho. Its my second favorite food (after Nasi Gorengand a Friday night staple.Weve ordered take-out from the Saigon for 10+ years and it was great until they hired a 2nd cook a few years ago. Then it became a crapshoot as to whether the meal would be excellent or less than mediocre. We continued to order on a take your chances basis and lucked out maybe 50% of the time.Last Friday, the Pho Bo, which normally comes in 2 containers - one with noodles and bean sprouts, the other with broth and meat - arrived in one container with a little broth, a little meat, some broken noodles and no bean sprouts. As I didnt want to wait another 30 minutes to get the other half of my meal, I phoned to report the problem on Monday. The owner wasnt there, so I left my number and was told shed call me back on Tuesday - which she did not. On Wednesday, I phoned again and reached the owner who immediately recognized our address. No apology, no offer of resolution, just an excuse for the cook and she transferred me to a staff member who took my name, address and telephone number AGAIN.Ten minutes later their delivery guy shows up with soup.Huh?Ed was already preparing our dinner, so I refused the soup. The owner obviously needs to learn something about customer service. How about asking what might be a satisfactory resolution? Not to mention that showing up with dinner for one was really uncool.Anyway, we wont darken their doorstep again. So now it looks like the best place to get Pho in Penticton is actually in Summerland.UGH!!!
