Saigon Delights west - Vietnamese restaurant in Kingston, Canada
Order not compatible to request. First impression matters.
The food is always good and generous portions for the price
Always consistent and quick! Love this place!
Sadly one of my favorite restaurants in town was such a disappointment today. My friend ordered our food for pickup (which is the only option at this location even though the website says dine in as welland when I attempted to pick it up by giving my name and my friends they could not tell me which order was ours. I did not have my phone to call my friend and ask what they had ordered and the restaurant does not take a name or phone number to identify the order. The staff didnt know what to do so I ended up leaving and going elsewhere instead, though I love the food I will not be back due to the lack of very basic customer service.
Beef noodle pho soup and shrimp salad rice paper rolls were both excellent, incredibly authentic. Broth for the soup was full of flavour and the rice paper shrimp rolls had plenty of peanut hoisin sauce for dipping. Heads up that the restaurant is still takeout only though.
Best place in Cataraqui to get pho! Ordered the beef pho and shrimp spring rolls, it packed a lot of flavour and was salted to taste. Will definitely be retuning when we come by Kingston again.
Food was amazing!!!!! Still hot after driving 28 minutes home.
Nothing special about this meal, everything was just “ok.” The salad rolls were a disappointment, no flavour just three plain shrimp crammed into a roll with a ton of plain noodles. Have had some amazing salad rolls at other Thai places in the city so this was a letdown, paid $8 for some extra noodles basically.
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Kingston. Definitely recommend their pho and salad rolls :)
Bring a bowl! They have take out only because of covid. But theyre 13$ Large Pho is awesome. I ate mine in the car. Unfortunately I wont be town long enough to try their other dishes.
One of the worst meal I ever had. Will not recommend at all. Tofu was deep fried, chicken was over cooked. The so called tofu and vegetable rolls were full of rice noodles. Not worth the hype.
Woman behind the counter removed a poster from the wall and cockroaches scattered everywhere!!! They have a big infestation at this place. Didnt get food that night and doubt I will ever again.
mediocre at best. not very flavourful and theyre so called "famous" rice wraps and spring rolls have only shrimp cucumbers and a whole bunch of noodles.. would expect more from the best rice wraps in town. good service but overall, wouldnt go back
Unfortunately we had a cockroach in our take out meal this evening which was incredibly off putting especially since I’ve been a customer for 15 years. The only positive was that they immediately refunded us when we called and brought the food back. Please be cautious of this locations cleanliness.
Great food, their number six is excellent, their spring rolls are homemade! Give it a try!
Food = 4 Stars, Gardeners location = 1 Star ~ that why the 3 Star rating was given. The food (I usually order Special #6is excellent (chicken can be dry, use the orange seasoning liquid to add flavor and moisture), best spring rolls ever (IMHO). Staff are friendly and the food is ready quickly. The location looks like a dump! If I wasnt recomme ded by a trusted friend I would not have stepped foot in the place. Run down, dinning room looks trashed.Downtown location also has excellent food, quick service (downtown can be very busy), but again the inside looks run down (not a bad as the Gardeners location).Love to food and service but can only give 1 Star for location and general appearance.
Always great food, very friendly staff. Great prices for the amount.
Fine for Kingston but food is better In Toronto because more Vietnamese restaurants to choose from so I find more flavorful dishes. But I still go back to this restaurant.
Good spring rolls thats about it.The pho I ordered was too fatty and salty. The rice noodles dish had some iceberg letuce on top and no sauce of any kind. It was tasteless. Would not recommend.
I feel in love with Saigon at their downtown location. Was excited for them to open in west end but unfortunately went down hill the past few years. Last time I ordered the food was upsettingly bad.
Good food and service. They put fatty beef in the order even though I ordered chicken. I just ate it anywayI was hungry.
This little place was my Wednesday lunchtime go-to throughout the entire 4-month COVID-19 lockdown. Great food overall (there was only one dish I didnt like), and friendly and efficient staff.
Sad but true. Great spring rolls yeah!!!! The dishes we picked for take out were definitely different from in house dining. Not sure if broth missing because of containers(not sealable?or what. Bland and ordinary. When it is their turn again will have to pick something clearly a soup or a dish that we recall as really saucy to give them another go.Hmm maybe just spring rolls for awhile - anytime.
The restaurant itself may not be that appealing, but the food makes up for that. The number 6 is a go-to for me and many more, but I expect that everything else on the menu wouldnt disappoint. Authentic food, fast service and friendly staff.
The only good thing about this place was the spring rolls and they were just ok. The food was tasteless, everything thickened with too much corn starch and bland. The service is probably the worst we have ever had. They took our order and only came back to deliever it. No one came back to see how anything was or if we wanted more water. There were only 3 tables seated so it wasnt busy. They table next to us had to go and ask for a take out container. We didnt get a bill so we went the bar, the guy there didnt ask if our meal was ok or didnt say thank you or have a good night. The decor is horrible and it is filthy. The oil and vinegar bottles were covered in grease. I would reccomend to stay away, there are other Vietnamese places in Kingston.
Food was ok. My parents love this place so I agreed to join them there. We were the first ones in around 11:30. The tables were set, but none of them were cleaned from the night before. Almost all the tables had a sticky ring on them (Im assuming from the jars of hot chili peppers kept on the tables). We sat for about 10 minutes before going up to the counter and ordering since noone seemed to know we were there. I asked for a cloth to wipe down the table myself. The staff is nice enough, the place just doesnt seem very professional.
Good food, good service and nicely decorated. However that bathroom was gross, smelled weird and the toilet looked like it hadnt been properly cleaned in a while.
Went into this saigon delights. There were about 3 other tables that were already seated and 1 other couple that came in after me. There was one person working that i could see. Perhaps there were more in the back. The wait was going on 15 min and hadnt even recieved an offer of water yet. The server came and took the order of the couple that came in after me and i got up and left. Wasnt sure if it was intentional discrimination.
Just go order their number six dish and enjoy! Includes the best spring rolls that you will ever eat.
Nice and friendly Persian staff that gave us great service and fantastic food before the Newcastle - Huddersfield game. ThanksGood choice of eats from Full English to Kebabs on Rice. The meals are a good size for a very reasonable price. Staff are freindly and helpful making you feel quite at home. Reccommended place for a filling meal.
Truly disappointed. Owner doesnt care for customer satisfaction at all. I called this evening to let him know that an order we made was incorrect. We got chicken and shrimp instead of the tofu. He told me it only came with chicken and shrimp. We hung up, checked the menu and it clearly gave a tofu option for number 11. When I told him that he changed his story and said that my husband didnt ask for tofu. Instead of an apology and perhaps an offer to make the right meal, he kept saying that he made the right meal. I wasnt expecting a free meal!!! How would he have known that, he didnt even ask. When i told him that we order from him all the time, he didnt seem to care. Food is good but will think twice about going there. Terrible that the owner did not care!!!!
Not good at all. Food had a slime on it and I was told it was because of corn starch. It look suspect. The carpet was very dirty. Staff was not pleasant though quick. Place us very dingy looking. Bathroom is down the stairs past the kitchen and very shabby. I will not recommend the place and will not go again.
Absolutely vile. I see lots of nice photos of lovely meals, but I can tell you, the Com Xao Cai I received for lunch, didnt look anything like pictures people are posting. It didnt even have half the ingredients listed on the menu. It was literally tofu, Bok Choi and celery on rice that was half cooked. Garnished with three slices of carrot. And it was all vaguely gelatinous.I ended up throwing almost all of it away. And Im really not a picky person.
It doesntIve been here a few times and always the food. The prices are reasonable too.The atmosphere is a little strange though. It looks like it was formerly an Italian food restaurant, and they didnt bother redecorating. It doesnt really matter, afterall, and Ill keep coming back!
I ordered 2 spring rolls and 2 salad rolls. The server didnt ask me if I wanted "2" or 2 orders. So my "small" supper cost me $33.00!!
Amazing food every time. Items are fresh, very quickly prepared, and large portion sizes. We love it.
Have loved it since it first opened. The menu has been consistently delicious. My favorite choice has been and still is #3, #7, and an iced coffee. Even now, when I happen to drive by Kingston a few times a year, I make a point of ordering some take out.
The staff was friendly enough and a quaint building but my breakfast was a little less than disappointing. Bacon burnt and scrambled eggs undercooked. Maybe just a bad day in the kitchen 😔
great vietnamese food,i recently went there for lunch, food is always good, great serving sizes, great value, there was only one man serving tables but he is fast and efficient. ive been many times to this restaurant and never failed to have a good meal.
We ordered pho. It was horrible. On the menu it said it would have coriander, green onions. The bowl of pho came out with neither of those things. It had a wedge of lemon and bean sprouts at the bottom. Both of these should have come on a separate plate. The soup was tasteless and had a strong smell of garlic. Granted that we came in at 730 and the restaurant was going to close at 8. But it isnt closed and the meal was prepped very sloppy on their end. Our server was also mediocre. Like it couldnt understand what was being asked.... and everyone just seemed so focused on closing for 8. I will never go back and will not recommend this place. Everything was horrible. Waste of money. Go across the street to Freshii.
Saigon delights has great, fresh food that is served super quick. As someone who is a veggie person, I’m really loving the #17 with tofu. Veggies and tofu on rice with a mildly spicy yellow curry sauce. It’s really delicious and the portion is huge! This is definitely 2 meals for me in this one portion and I can eat a lot for my size. I have tried other menu items before and they have all been great. This is my current fave though. I really recommend this place! If you’re ordering take out, you will honestly get your food in 10 to 15 minutes and it will be awesome!
Saigon Delights Vietnamese food is getting a great reception in Kingston because it now has three locations. This Gardiners Road location joins Saigon Delights at Brock & Princess and another at Division & Queen. Kingstonians must enjoy the generous and tasty items on the menu, reasonable prices, attentive service and the good locations. Will there be a Saigon Delights east?Saigon Delights west took over what was formerly an Italian food restaurant. Its a cozy restaurant and has retained a striking lighted wall insert at the far end of the restaurant and facing the entrance. Ironically, the insert contains some wine bottles but the restaurant doesnt yet have a liquor license!
Fast, affordable and delicious. What more could you ask for? All 3 locations are great, but this one gets bonus points for offering Vietnamese food in the West end of Kingston.
Decided to give this place a try with my husband. We both ordered similar dishes, vermicelli type, but I got pork and my husband chicken. Mine was mediocre but I could eat it. My husbands chicken wasnt hot at all though. We asked if they could at least warm up the chicken but they put the whole thing in the microwave, which included the salad. It became uneatable, not to mention the chicken was also tasteless to begin with. We both ate from my bowl and left his. We explained to management and they blamed us for asking it to be microwaved. They also said it was hot when served and then changed their story and said its a cold dish because its a salad. We refused to pay for it and they asked us to never go back again. We werent planning on it anyways. Horrible food and horrible service.
Not a soul in sight when we got there. The food is okay, the iced coffee not what I was expecting. Kingston isnt the greatest for Vietnamese, and this place sits right along with the rest in town for just being okay. Still need to go to Chinatown in Toronto or Ottawa for legit Pho.
Went to go grab my food to learn that they told another location to make it ? I was in a rush because I was on break.. he asked me what number I called and blamed me for making a mistake. I told him the number and realised the numbers were incorrect on Google... Nonetheless through all this confusion he told me he wouldnt make my food for me. I walked away really upset and am so hangry now! Im so confused why they wouldnt take my money and make my food if they made a mistake!
The restaurants atmosphere is dark, dysmal and uncomfortable. The place reeked of mold and everything was covered in dust. My dish was bland and tasteless. The service was also lacking, with absolutely no communication after our food was served. I wont be coming back. The downtown location is much better.
Delicious food! Generous portions. Fresh ingredients. We order the #6 every time we go. Friendly staff. We recommend this spot to all of our out of town guests!
Quick great food! The restaurant really doesnt have much in the way of decore and sometimes the service can be a little slow. But the food is always amazing weather you are eating in or taking out. Generous portions and great value for your money. The number 6 (rice noodle bowl with spring rolls and choice of meatis one of there most popular dishes. Im also partial to their pho.
I had the vermicelli bowl which was pretty good. The size was decent and it definitely filled me up. However, my friend had a beef dish that made her sick. Unfortunately, the meat was most likely not kept in a desirable/cold location and went bad. I wont be returning here again. The atmosphere is also quite uncomfortable. It was very dark and had an odd smell.
