Saigon Corner - Vietnamese restaurant in Palmerston North, New Zealand
Had the prawns on rice & sago dessert delivered tonight. Tasted so good. and the portions were very generous. Definitely ordering again!
Taste: 4/5Price: $-$$Portions: mediumThe pho was good, but super oily. The pana cotta dessert turned out to be a super sweet lychee drink with tiny cubes of panna cotta on top, a bit misrepresented.
Food is always gud...little bit pricey tho
With a baby at home there was no going out on my birthday so I ordered Saigon Corner through DeliverEasy. When it arrived the Waterfall chicken looked really dark and the fish spring rolls were really dark and overcooked. As it was my birthday meal I decided not to make a fuss in front of my wife who was gutted not to be cooking for me this year and tried to eat the food. To be brutally honest it was awful. The chicken was like leather and was tough to eat. The fish spring rolls were really tough to eat as the batter was so hard. When I complained about this after I was referred to DeliverEasy by Saigon Corner who totally passed the buck. Their response was that without photos that there was nothing they would do except give me a voucher for the delivery part of an order. I bet the chef knows what they put out because it shouldnt have left the premises. Because of this I will not eat at Saigon again or use the Delivereasy service. Really disappointed.
Had heard rave reviews so thought to try last night. I had a chicken coconut dish which was barely edible due to the chicken being so dry and stringy. My husband had the honey pork which tasted quite nice. But for $19 each we would have been better off with fish and chips!! Wont be back
Deliciously authentic pho
Ordered the coconut prawn fried rice takeout. This meal was terrible. I wanted spicy, did not get a single kick out of it and wait for it...their seasoning was stuck to one part of the rice. Will certainly not be patronising them again.
Another absolutely beautiful meal the Banh Mi was crisp and packed with absolutely delicious ingredients. The ribs were melt in your mouth and were full of wonderful flavours. Best Vietnamese coffee.. The service was prompt and extra friendly. A reallly great family experience.
Friendly staff, happy to explain different meals. Awesome flavors quick service. Well worth a try
Had rice paper rolls with peanut sauce 11$ which were goodAlso had beef noodle soup. This was 19$. Not to my liking. And fried chicken which was really good. 8$.Good menu but beef noodle didn’t work out for me . Certainly worth a visit. Will try something different next time..
Excellent banh mi, if not the best in Palmerston North. The other items on the menu that Ive had have been excellent and their plating is great. Always a super friendly team at this small local business.
Disappointed as I come here often. Ive noticed they havent updated there takeaway pricing menu in ages which is misleading and illegal. Also I ordered a vegan meal with them in level 3 lockdown to support saigon corner, very let down as the tofu has gone off, it tasted sour and old. (Was only 4 pieces of tofu Im the curry that I paid $17 for). Thats not how you treat your paying customers.
Dont get folled by cheap looking interier. This is the best Asian restaurant I have ever been in New Zealand! Every food is truly amazing! And the price... simply...unbelievable! Staff is friendly and despite there is always queue, it is fast service! I also appreciate they use paper boxes and packages for take aways! It is our best restaurant. Thanks you guys in Saigon Corner for what you are doing! We will keep coming back.
A two star. Its mothers day. We take mothers out for dinner. And theyre closed. Had good reviews from Saigon but why be closed on a special day? Oh well KFC it is. Or Tikka Talk? We cant dine during the week as I work nights.
Chicken with ginger rice meal is amazing!A great portion of dishes with reasonable prices and good customer service. Would recommend here
Amazing food! Crispy spring rolls are the best ever. Duck curry is delicious too. Will be back for sure!
I ordered a beef pho, I was disappointed when I started to eat it as the beef didnt taste like beef and the pho had absolutely no flavour. I even got my boyfriend to taste it and he spat it out straight away. I wasnt impressed, as I really enjoy getting meals from here.
Saigon Corner is the best! They have vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, regular omnivore, dine in or takeaway options on their menu. So friendly, fast service too. I had the vegan net springrolls and vegan coconut lemon grass tofu and vegetable curry. 5 out 5. Soooo delicious. My friend had the salt and pepper prawns with rice and salad. He said that mine was tastier, but his still was really nice. Thanks Saigon Corner!
Both myself and partner ordered chicken curry. One came out cooked fresh the other i was informed was re-heated from the morning, yet they did not offer to make a fresh one. Update* I was since offered a remedy , which although I did not take , I do appreciate so my review has changed.
Clean and fresh, is how I would describe this restaurant.Industrial seating with a few tables. Not a place to stay and soak up the ambiance. However the staff were friendly and quick to deliver.A tantalising menu which is reasonably priced with varied dishes and delicious generous portions.Pork and prawn summer rolls were generous but lacking in flavour.Coconut duck curry was a mouth full of joy with the taste of lemongrass lingering long after. For a health buzz try the fresh juices.Very refreshing menu and dining.
Absolutely love Saigon corner. Usually go once a week. Great service and the meals are very tasty. Would highly recommend the duck curry and crispy spring rolls 🙏❤
Never really tried vietnamese food in the past but friends suggested this place. went to the counter and asked for recommendation which they then suggested I try the waterfall chicken. it was so good! huge portion too (probably abit too huge for me; itd be a nice portion for 2)! and friendly, prompt service. i loved my warm soy milk. my friends and i left with a huge happy belly.
Love the squid salad, so nice and generous, good prices and everything is always so fresh. Nice decor, good and fast service. Visited again recently after lockdown, the service was wonderful and complied to the covid-19 rules. I had the hot Vietnamese coffee to drink which was amazing! We got the chicken skewers appetizer, coconut crumbed prawns and popcorn chicken. And again I got the delicious squid salad. I bought the special duck curry home for my partners dinner and he also loved it! Will definitely be returning
This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in New Zealand!!!!!!!!!!!I live in Auckland so when I visit my friend in Palmy, I always have a meal at least once per visit and take away as well 🥰Chicken noodle soup and Pork&prawn noodle soup, both of them are AMAZING 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍
Great food, super fresh, fast service. Highly recommend the chilli lemongrass chicken!
Just ordered through deliver easy, and received my order of Pho with beef balls and it was delicious. My first time eating Pho, and Ive always wanted to try and I can tell you I wasnt disappointed. I got a pottle of hot sauce which I wouldnt have, made the dish that more flavourable. I recommend you to try it.
Been here a couple of times now, it’s great. Fresh clean food and lovely flavour. The chicken noodle soup is not bad, it’s quite large but the flavour isn’t very strong so it didn’t blow my mind, however the chicken curry is very nice and so tender! Generous portion, enough to have leftovers tomorrow for my lunch. The vegetarian summer rolls are nice, but plain on their own so make sure you get the dipping sauce as this really makes them yum! Their Vietnamese iced coffee is wonderful. Will be going here on the regular for healthy takeaways. Thank you ❤️
Lovely beef spring rolls. I order 2 beef Banhmi which were good. However is probably missing a bit of the filling and the chilli sauce was all on one side in both. No idea whats happened in the last year but quality control needs improvement. Other than that still tasty.
This is the BEST takeaway cuisine Ive ever had regarding the freshness and taste of the food. Not oily, a great portion size and so fresh and healthy it feels like a home cooked meal! I would highly recommend, 👍🏻P.S: I had the pork belly noodle salad!
We have eaten here and ordered delivery a number of times and have never been disappointed. Their prices are very reasonable, particularly for Palmy. The rice dishes are very generous - too much for one sitting for me. Their salads and noodle salads are flavoursome and delicious, and their bahn mi is excellent - crisp crust, great salads, yummy protein. Their crispy spring rolls are also very satisfying. The place is deservedly popular, so it can get very packed around lunchtime. Usually between $30-40 for a generous meal for two.
We have eaten here around half a dozen times and every time have been happy. When my son and I go, we order a main with an extra dish of rice and a set of spring rolls ... the total comes to around $30 and we have a really great meal. The food is really tasty and the service is fast. It seems that they have a lot of regular customers and it is popular with students. A big thumbs up for me.
We haven’t had a good Vietnamese food like this for a long time! Not only the prices are very reasonable but also all the food we ordered were very tasty. I didn’t have the fish spring rolls as my 3-year-old ate them all.Quick service for takeout, and for dine in. great food. Tasty and relatively authentic compared with Actual Vietnamese food (less fresh veges and tougher meatin country. So new zealand veges and great meat
The food was really good! Good vegan and gluten free option. The curry was delicious. Definitely make a reservation if it is Friday or Saturday night as seating is limited.
Nice to be back to visit n found good varieties of choices n spacious from tis eatery. My order was bit disappointed as it didnt mention little chicken pieces been deep fried (instead of stir frywith my veg so it was hard n dry n my mate dish was good with her big bowl of veg noodle soup. Overall will visit again.
What a great menu. I decided to go for the banh mei and Vietnamese spding rolls. Amazing authentic food. Better than any I had in Ho Chi Minh. Great service and value. You always know you ha d found a winner when the restaurant is full. I could happily work my way through this menu. The food here us to die for..I had spicy coconut rice with prawns..my friend had squid salad...I asked for spicy & it was..good service friendly staff. Most excellent place for lunch.
Great restaurant, with really good vietamese food, really hot and spicy, just the way we love it. The ingredients were fresh, and the place is clean, and their service was awesome. Thank you!
Worth staying hungry just to visit this place. The food is excellent with fresh ingredients and delicious flavours. Ive never been to Vietnam so I cant vouch for authenticity, but reading at this place makes me want to go to that place.Try the golden tofu bahn mi. Im not kidding. The other thing is they get to know you. I dont know how they do it but they know their customers by name. Makes you feel all wanted and important. So I can phone up and place an order for a takeaway (recommendedand theyll ask me if I want my usual red chili on it.Heck yes. Dont hold back. I want to be imagining Vietnam through watering eyes, thank you very much.
cute Vietnamese restaurant! great atmosphere, good food and friendly service. Price of menu is a little higher, but well worth it! The pho broth was seasoned very well, and so was the calamari salad. Great portion size, which makes it ideal for sharing. would absolutely recommend!
They have the best noodle soup, my fav is this pork and prawn noodle soup.
Quick service, plenty food for what you pay for and was tasty, want to go back sometime soon to try more
Delicious fresh food in a friendly casual atmosphere. I’m no connoisseur of Vietnamese food but it seems very good with a wide range. Service is cheerful and quick. We go here pretty frequently when we want something that’s tasty but easy. The crispy pork spring rolls are to die for!Pity they don’t have any alcohol, but they have a decent range of drinks, and excellent Vietnamese coffee hot or cold.
I always love this place and I have known that they have great food. But today, I am very appointed that my fave pork roast bah mi turned out to be all fat:( tastes blunt than how I how I used to have it in here :( Less salad ...i dont mind the increase in price but the quality should not decrease at least!
Amazing Vietnamese food. Will definately spread the word and come back again. Had the pork belly noodle salad and sampled a pork spring roll. The salad was fresh and had so much different favours and levels of punch. Have heard lots of good things from colleagues who have worked in palmy - now I know why.
Really delicious fresh Vietnamese food ! The spicy beef pho and fried squid salad ! Big portions and reasonable price. The viet ice coffee was average however. Gets busy during lunch and dinner
Amazing food, reasonably priced, with good sized portions. Theres plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free folks. The food tastes fantastic, the staff are friendly, and the restaurant is nice and bright and very clean. Neither the food nor the atmosphere are fancy, but the whole experience is simple and hearty and very fulfilling. Highly recommended.
Love the tofu banh mi and veggie noodle soup!! Always fresh and delicious food.
The pho was quite tasteless to be honest. The only saving grace were the half decent beef balls (which you needed to pay extra for). The meat was cooked well (was still a bit pink). The springs rolls were OK. Unfortunately, I find it difficult to recommend this place to anyone looking to enough a good Vietnamese meal.
Excellent food & great vibe! Extremely busy which is always a good sign, but even so the staff were very efficient and it didnt take long for the food to arrive, which was great value for money and very tasty.
The presentation was great and the prices were fairly reasonable although probably on the expensive end for Palmerston North. I dont know if youd call it authentic Vietnamese though. Did not appreciate the raw cabbage on my bun bo hue. Despite this a fresh place to eat with some healthyish dishes
Delicious Vietnamese food. The only annoying thing were The flies in the restaurant
