Simple Vietnamese eatery whipping up pho, noodles & a variety of other traditional fare.
Great food and a great staff. Every time my family and I visit Lubbock, we always make it a point to grab lunch at Saigon Cafe!
Good food but they are constantly changing hours and hard to find a menu online
The food has been great, I love the pho special over here. The broth is really pleasant and then you can adjust it with hoisin and siracha sauce if you choose to do so. Pho is my comfort food, it feels really good to eat after a long day or a bad day or even a hungover day. I’ve tried a few of the other dishes as well and thought they more mostly all pretty-to-really good. The service is excellent for what it is, but given the other “service” complaints here let me explain and clarify what seems to be going on. The 2 times I’ve come, it’s been the same 1 server handling orders, bringing food out, as well as bussing tables and cleaning. Now from what I’ve seen her work ethic is fantastic and she works hard and gets food out quickly, but she’s also doing it all entirely by herself. So my 1 suggestion for improvement is: get her some help. I feel like it’s almost unfair to her to require her to do all this work all day every day, especially during the busy days/busy hours. Now don’t get me wrong if she wants to do all this then great, but if she wants an assistant I would definitely recommend getting her an extra server or busser just to take some of the workload off and streamline the efficiency of how the restaurant runs. The server they have now is great though, and after all of this work she’s still sweet to customers and finds a way to say bye have a good day to everybody. All in all, I do really enjoy this restaurant. I recommend it to people all the time and I do believe that this is tied among the best 2 pho restaurants in lubbock.
I wasted over $40 with tip order to go. Their shrimp & chicken fried rice was orange and had no flavor. The V10 shrimp taste dried out. Their viet eggrolls had no flavor and kind of cakey? I told them I was a new customer. They shouldnt be giving out old stuff if you want people to come back. Times is tough and cost of supplies are higher but its just NOT RIGHT.
Always incredible food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Overall good little spot. Nothing fancy. Good food. I think the beef stew could use some work.
I’ve been coming here for over 7 years now. It’s my go-to Asian restaurant! Best egg rolls and spring rolls in town. Coming from a big city where Vietnamese cuisine is HUGE, this place was the one I always came back to. They bring a little piece of home to Lubbock. Staff has rotated throughout the years but service always remained the same. Very nice people and such a chill spot to go hang out after a long day at work. Never disappoints!
We decided to try this place on a recommendation from a coworker. The food was ready fast. It smelled good, my order was correct, and was well packaged for the ride home. That was wear my satisfaction ended. There was hair in my husbands entree and my egg roll. It lacked seasoning and another entree tasted like frozen Chinese food. I was really hoping to find a great Vietnamese place but all I found was disappointment.
Amazing as usual. I have been going here for 20 years and it is always excellent. Although there are tons of great food options my favorite is the C-23 shredded pork in garlic sauce. I have never found another restaurant that does it like they do and so consistently. I now live in Austin but when Im in town I always make it a point to eat here. If you like Vietnamese food definitely give them a shot you will not be disappointed.
My wife and I wanted some brisket pho, according to reviews we were led to Saigon. We walked in and one lady was running food, cleaning tables, and taking orders. Not optimal by any means but given the current state of affairs we overlooked this and opted to stay. There was one family ahead of us and we still waited in line for more than 20 mins. Walked up to order, 2 phos, a shrimp fried rice, 3 canned drinks ($1 eachand 2 egg rolls. The lady rang up all we ordered and the total was $49, I was shocked. I told my wife this better be the best pho we have ever had. The food was delivered pretty quickly. Although in the meantime we had to listen to the lady bussing tables slamming dishes around and moving tables and chairs around like a mad woman, which was so noisy. The pho came out and looked fair at best and the shrimp fried rice had a total of 4 shrimp in it. The pho tasted as it appeared, fair. Most of the meat was very fatty and a oily layer on top of the pho led me to believe it was not fresh. I definitely will not be back for a couple reasons, number 1 is cost (we could have had a steak dinner for those prices, which aren’t posted anywhere on the menuand number 2 was the subpar food.
Always super great food. I cant recommend it more. I tell everyone about this place because its so good. Support your local businesses!!
They have the best pho in town. I go there so much they already know who I am, what I’m getting. I’ll gladly let them take all of my money, every single time. Great servers too, on both shifts!
Scrambled eggs were runny. Avocados have brown spots...Other than that it was good. Service was great
We ended up walking out without even a greeting. We really wanted some hot pho and our usual was closed so we decided to take a chance. We walked into what felt like a cold environment. There was no greeting no kind of acknowledgement. We were in line waiting for what felt like ten 8 minutes then when we think we re next in line a couple who had been standing off to the side swoops in and gets in. With no kind of attention being paid by staff we had our last straw and left.
This place is one of my favorite spots in town. Friendly service, consistency in the food, and always delicious. Would recommend to anyone looking for Vietnamese cuisine.
Best fresh food in Lubbock. I usually get the C11 (Bunwith Tofu.
Im a fan of oriental cuisine so when I found out there was another Vietnamese place near my house, I rushed over to settle my noodle fix. I didnt regret it either. The whole experience was nice (unlike the other place nearby...)Like I said, I was really craving noodles when I went in so I was relieved when I saw that had several different kinds of noodle dishes on their menu, along with some other good stuff. The price range is about $3.25 - $20.50 for entrees and appetizers and $2.50 - $5 for drinks and extras, including the ones in the fridge near the front counter, so its not too expensive to eat here. The place was relatively clean and tidy and the fish tank nearby was a nice little touch of atmosphere. I wasnt sure why there was a disco ball in the dining room but thats just me. The female cashier, Tammy, was really pleasant as well. I was totally comfortable with her service. As far as food went, I went with the Hu Thieu Saigon: the clear noodle soup, with shrimp, pork, and crab. It was pretty good! The noodles were nice and tender as with the shrimp, and the crab was surprisingly delicious. They even give you a side of bean sprouts and cilantro to put in the soup. The broth was a nice, mild flavor that went well with the noodles. Theyll also let you order even more noodles to put in the leftover broth, for an extra $3.75. Its little steep but the clear noodles were kinda hard for them to come by so I let it go. My only complaint was the pork. It was kinda dry...Overall, this is a place Id totally recommend. Ill be coming back to try something new, next time around. Just be wary as, according to Tammy, the pandemic sometimes makes hours fluctuate a bit.
The food is really great. Idk how authentic it is, but it taste great. Ive sampled a couple of different dishes there now. Portion sizes are great. Really low-key, casual ambiance. The Thai tea is LITERALLY the best in town for my palate. I went on a hunt and hit up various restaurants and boba places to compare the flavor profile and something about their Thai tea just really does it for me! Totally worth a try!
The food here is great but we can’t stand the smell of their cleaner. I want to walk into a restaurant and smell aromas of food not fabulosa or the strong smell of their cleaner! Please change your cleaner. There are good products without smell! It’s a real turn off!
Shrimp,fish roll,crab meat so delicious.
Saigon Café is hands down one of the best Vietnamese restaurants that I have been to. The Pho is great and the Clay Pot Catfish is the best I have ever had. It is always a pleasant experience when eating here. I highly recommend this place.
First thing you notice is how clean the building is as well as how nice the service is. Food was delicious and fresh. Will definitely be returning!
I love their chicken pho soup, however their customer service is horrible. I ONLY order chicken pho soup from there. I ordered 5 of them via phone. Picked it up and drove home (out in the countryand it was some other kind of soup with weird looking meat floating at the top. I drove the 20 min back to get my correct order. I did get my correct order along with being reprimanded, and I quote,” we’re going to make you the correct soup but in the future , we don’t take back and exchange food”. The guy that took my order said all he heard was C14. I don’t even know what C14 is but it sounds NOTHING like Chicken Pho soup. I’ll be going elsewhere from now on
Refreshing menu options, truly something for everyone. The food is prepared fresh and comes to the table hot. I have ordered several items and all have had fresh crisp vegetables with well rounded broth to simmer your meat and veggies in while you enjoy a cozy conversation. One of my favorites is the iced Vietnamese coffee.
Went on Valentines Evening. Definitely very busy. The restaurant was swamped with walk in orders and call in orders. We were told when we ordered that the food would take 30 minutes. It took an hour. They brought each person’s order as it was done cooking, so some of us were still waiting on food while others in our party were eating. It’d be great if they could get the whole group’s food out at the same time. Food tasted good, it was hot, and the servings were big. Everyone got what they ordered. I’d recommend going when they are not so busy.
COVID 19 WARNING - Eat at your own risk! This restaurant is astonishingly unclean. After waiting an unusual amount of time for our meal, the food was finally brought out... but was GIVEN TO ANOTHER TABLE!! After realizing this, the waiter picked it up and tried giving it to us. When we expressed our concern, he said that no refund could be given and that the food could not be remade. We had to call the restaurant to get our money back. This policy is a clear violation of normal health standards. But given the current global health crisis... such behavior is irresponsible and infuriating. We will not be returning. Ever.
Great food, great service, clean restaurant, and reasonably priced. I will definitely go back again.
Best pho in Lubbock... fried fish and curry are really good too!
While it doesnt look like much, weve really enjoyed the food from Saigon - so glad to have this option in Lubbock (especially coming from Houston). We order Saigon for takeout every few weeks, and the spring rolls are consistently excellent, very fresh. The vermicelli bowls are always good and the soups as well. This is one of my most visited restaurants in Lubbock.Always take their Vietnamese spring rolls and the boba tea. Everything tastes good, but my favorite is Thit kho Tau, the stew and pork is just perfectly cooked. People working here are nice and friendly. And above all, it is inexpensive good place to eat!!
You go in and look at the menu on the wall with the pictures and descriptions of each dish. Then you order and then go sit down. The food is really good and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely a place to try.

Love everything on their menu. Staff is always so friendly. You order upfront and get everything you need for yourself. Not a big deal but know they wont come really service you.
I give 4 stars because the Pho was amazing. My waitress responded with "that would be time consuming heh" so Ill just bring you blah blah blah", when asked if i could have a 2nd side of vegetable sides and sauce for my Pho.. Ill come back sometime, hopefully nicer waitresses will be on duty. 🤷
Im new to Lubbock and so Ive been looking forward to trying different places around town. The staff were very nice. The place itself seemed clean and comfy. My food was good but I was in line 30 minutes just to place my order (no, It was not busy- there were a couple people ahead of me in line but not enough to warrant 30 minutes to wait to order IMO), then another 30 minutes to get my food and go... So my lesson learned is to be prepared for a wait. ... Maybe next time, Ill call in my order for pick up.
My food was floating in some kind of sauce. Like literally floating. Nothing like the picture they had advertized. I brought it up to thes manager. She told me everyone likes it that way. Im sorry. If I wanted extra sauce I would ask for it. She told me she cooked it. It was disgusting. She said that if she took it back she would have to pay for it. At first she said she would give me a refund, then she changed her mind and told me she would give me a discount next time I go in. Excuse me but I am not from Lubbuck I traveled 3 hours and I was hungry. I will not EVER go back to this cafe nor will I recommend it to anyoneSo disappointed. I left hungry and I think the manager should have accommodated me.She talked her way out of giving me a refund. So disgusted in this Saigon Cafe.
Saigon is absolutely great! The food is amazing and well portioned:)
Food was ok but I will not be dining in again. We ordered our food, sat down and waited 30 minutes for our food to arrive. They brought out each entree 10 minutes apart. By the time I got my food my friends were finished with theirs. No refills offered and not really worth the price.
Best pho in town, no cap. I feel like the pho here can be inconsistent though. Some days, it’s amazing, and others, it’s just pretty good for west Texas Vietnamese food. Either way, I like it best here and I’ve tried it all!
We were visiting Lubbock and found this place online. We walked in and realized after several minutes that it was a self-service (order at counter then find a place to sit). Overall, the food was good but I felt that the beef and broccoli could have been more flavorful.
Dont let the strip center location dissuade you - Saigon Cafe has great food and good prices. The ordering method is easy and is bound to cut down on possible confusion (large pictures of all entrees are on the wall to choose from).
Great Vietnamese cuisine! Local restaurant, family-owned. They have been in Lubbuck for as long as i remember... 20yrs at least. Food is always excellent. One of the best restaurants in Lubbock!
This was my go to for Vietnamese in college. Came back for the weekend and it hasnt changed a bit. I typically order C-10 but hear the Pho is good as well.
It is one of my regular go to places. Every time I make sure to order the fresh spring rolls and boba Thai tea. My other favourite entres are the pork stew with egg, the sea food pho and the stir fried bamboo shoot with pork. It is a nice place for your Asian and Vietnamese Pho palette. I highly recommend it!!
It was very good. I ordered the C10 and paid extra for a side of onions, cilantro and lime slices. Prepare to take home some of your food because they serve you a bunch.
One of the best kept secret restaurants in Lubbock. So many people do not know about this wonderful little restaurant. C-14 is my favorite dish. They are also very willing to exchange the meat selections for me because I only like chicken. Best bowl of pho ever!!
This is one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in Lubbock. Its a no-frills eatery. Food is delicious, and while the staff might not be the most friendly, Im not here for conversation - just a good meal, and what a good meal it is. Braised pork with eggs is to die for.
Used to come here alot. Place looks better but the food has deteriorated. spring rolls are wrapped w remnants of one shrimp each roll-. No protein at all. I never leave even bad food. I left 2/3 of my entree. Sorry, but no value at all.
Consistently tasty Vietnamese food. They are friendly and always happy to see you! I have become quite the regular and Saigon has always been more than accommodating to me perfecting my favorite dish, C-15 spicy! Theyve recently remodeled as well. Some crowd favorites are the C-14 and C-23, but theres plenty of great options for everyone to find something they enjoy.
The food is amazing. I eat here often and never have been disappointed. To the bad reviews about the decor, a lot of the decor is authentic, and when did someone judge a restaurant off of the decor anyway? Super clean, they are super fast, and always answer the phone (which is very rare). I would (and dorecommend this place to everyone!
The decor in this place sucks. It looks like a laundromat and a school cafeteria had a child together inside and the service is rather cold. Good luck getting a smile out of the people working the register. It has a very "come here to the register, order your food, then go sit down and shut up" feel about it. However, if Im rating this place based on the food alone it is superb. Some of the best Vietnamese Ive had, even better than some of my favorite places in Austin. Everything Ive ordered has been delicious and the portions are enough to leave me satisfied and Im a pretty big eater. The Vietnamese coffee is also awesome and quite potent.
