Sai Ngam - Tourist attraction in Bua Yai, Thailand
Unfortunately it was flooded and couldnt get closer to the trees
Flooded by the typhoon, so we couldnt enter the center.
Fabulous ancient Banyan tree in a picturesque setting. Also fantastic place to stop for somtam, gai yang and khao naio
A quick stop to see old banyan trees garden. It locates before Phi Mai historical park. Free car parking.
An amazing banyan grove. You can walk along a path with the banyan roots rising around you and forming a low canopy. Its amazing to think of this area 500 years ago when it was in its natural state. In this park, there are several small shrines. In the adjacent parking lot, there are the obligatory Thai street food, trinket vendors, and a fair selection of fresh water fish and turtles for pets. You can buy stale bread from the vendors to feed the fish. On the suspension bridge you can feed the huge stripped catfish. Or closer to the path feed smaller bards and goramy.
Interesting wood and lake, parking ok.
Wow little gem. Didnt even know this was here. Cool place for selfies and a bite to eat.
What a unique place to visit but the place needs lots of maintenance to be done.
The paths in the grove are wheelchair accessible and there is at least one entrance we saw that doesnt require going down stairs.
Nice place, lovely place to eat tranquil atmosphere
Very interesting and huge banyan tree. The food vendors are desperate for you to eat here. Theres no business.... hard times!
Something new from the natural but nothing much interest.
An interesting banyan tree park. A great place to get out of the sun and experience these amazing trees.
350 year old Fig aka Banyan trees with several shrines and a pavilion island
Worth a visit. Maybe another season the trees are greener.
Was a great place to visit a few years ago. Now showing the ravages of the covid tourist shutdown. I really hope that it recovers.
Nice place to chill and take photo of you are into nature
Beautiful place. Was worth a visit. Great place for photo shoot
350 year old banyan tree not fast from the historical park. If you have a spare hour or 2 in Phimai it’s worth a visit but wouldn’t go out of the way to come here. It’s very cool and peaceful. Lots of picnic tables and chairs to sit under the tree and relax. There are also a few vendors selling food, souvenirs and fish to release into the water.
Amazing little park covered by one (or moreBanyan tree(s). It has its magic moments. Recommended when you are visiting Phimai.
Such a gorgeous place to enjoy shade and take in the green space. Must stop here if you are in the area to visit the Phimai Historical Complex.
Beautiful but require some maintenance. Also big lizard in the lake like komodo.
Awesome, reputedly the largest Banyan tree ever! Over 1.3 sqr kilometres
Very original place for a nice walk
Spend your time to under more about nature and also have a lot of restaurant with good taste. Good view around the lake and we can learn about history about this place. Nice !!!
Horror movie vibes, awesome! Its about 1.3 km from Phimai Historical Park and easily doable by walking. There is no tuk-tuks around, but even if you dont want to rent motorbike, it is not a problem to walk here from historical park and then go to the main road where you can catch a bus to Nakhon Ratchasima
Site not to miss when you in PIMAI. Surounded by water this BUN YAN trees have growing together to form a natural shady roof. Very pictures and rear site to see. Walk around and enjoy what you walk past. Plenty of parking and there are many food places. Marktout on your map or follow GOOGLE MAPS GPS! It will get you there!Enjoy
Very relaxing spot to visit. Also good for lunch while your there.
Nice Banyan Tree, underneath benches to sit in the shade. Places to eat just across. 1 star less due rubbish in the water.
Worth a visit for nature lovers
Have to pass by here if you go visiting peemai castle in the city, but nothing really amazing, just some banians all around you 😉
Amazing place in Thailand .
A peaceful place surrounded with huge amount of very old Banyan Tree
A place there is full of banyan trees. Although not far away from town, it is not convenient to get to. Local people pray at the goodness of banyan tree for good fortune and prosperity. Nice place to walk around if you like the nature of banyan trees
Its free to get in. You can see mongrooves trees. Locals put ornaments on some of the trees.
Very shaded so nice place on a hot day
An enormous banyan tree covering a huge 35,000 sq feet, and is over 350 years old. It is all from the one source, and creates a large green canopy with a labyrinth of branches below. Pathways have been laid to walk along. There are tables and chairs to sit at and it is popular with the locals on the weekends for picnics. We found it a bit interesting, but I wouldn’t travel big distances to see it. As we were at The Phimai Historical Park it was an easy trip, and not very busy at all. There were a lot of markets nearby to buy food and drinks. Great for snacks afterwards.
Beautiful tree/trees(?growing out of a shallow pool, around which are winding paths, plenty of benches on which to sit and admire the view, Buddhist shrines adourned with colourful clothing, jewellery, and ornaments. A relaxing and beautiful place, where few tourists seem to venture.
That is wow and amazing place in pimai district everyone should have go to there beautiful park the Tree is too much older not sure maybe 2000 years old threes
Nice walk under many weird trees (supposed to be only one but Im sceptical). Apart from that and some little places for Buddhists nothing extraordinary.
Its free to go here. One of the attractions I would recommend if you visit Phi Mai area
Their are many of local food especially E-Sarn Food, mostly are cheap price and good taste but some are a bit spicy. The tourist attraction are also amazing, i never seen before.
Magical place describes it best. Trees growing in the most unusual way. You feel like in a different world. Few people makes it even better. Free. Parking also free. Worth visiting!
The largest Banya tree in Thailand
Nice place where you can walk around on an island with strange tree, eat food, and feed the fish.
Sai Ngam.Just at the edge of Phimai town, on the other side of the ancient reservoir built by the Khmer, a huge banyan tree named “Sai Ngam” occupies an entire island in a small pond. The western name for a Banyan Tree is “Golden Fig”. The Banyan is very significant in Buddhism as the Buddha supposedly found enlightenment while sitting in the shade of a Banyan Tree. This tree(sis estimated to be over 350 years old and covers approx. 1400m²It is a popular place for people to visit and relax under the shade of the tree branches (rootswhich intertwined to produce a natural shade. There are a ponds surrounding the island which are abundant in fish. Locals can be seen regularly feeding them from the Salanoi and suspension bridge. If you are feeling hungry there are numerous stalls where you can buy food and drink close to the parking area.Thai name: ศาลเจ้าแม่ไทรงาม (Banyan Tree)GPS Coordinates (WGS84): N 15.226399 E 102.504467
