Safestay London Elephant & Castle in Boende
Description
I booked in advance for 4 nights, checked in at 3pm (had to wait in line for half an hour), put my stuff in the room and then went out until midnight. I came back to someone else in my bed. They ended up sending me to a new room, but they could only get it for 2 nights, so I had to switch rooms again. I had to move out of one room at 10am and couldnt move into the next room until 3pm, extremely inconvenient.Theres no kitchen at all, not even a microwave, the elevator was broken, bathroom doors are broken, toilets dont flush... Probably the worst hostel Ive stayed at
MoreI love the neighborhood, trendy, in motion with all the new buildings, but also working-class.The room was fresh (I was in a 8 bed mix dormand perfect with its own bathroom and toilets, also there are curtains around the bed and a large enough locker under the beds.
MoreI really love this place, i think for a hostels they are really doing some things right, rooms are good, washrooms are clean. And love the people here, big shoutout to Illo and Phillipe for making my stay here even better.
MoreGood location, overall good hostel BUTThe staff was unnecessarily rude and whilst check in they kept talking to each other in another language instead of working. I understand they have the right to do so and they looked tired, but the whole process took 30+ minutes because they kept interrupting each other to have conversations. Once I got my key I decided not to engage with them again. The queues to check in were always massive. The room itself was ok, BUT, whose idea was to put a sensor in the room that detects movement and switches the lights on?!?! Very broken sleep as people who needed to go to the bathroom kept triggering the lights and waking everyone up, especially people on the top bunk. One of the main lights was right above my head and kept being turned on every time the sensor detected motion. Terrible night sleep! Bad idea.
MoreI dont like my experience. I had two luggages and my booked room was on 2 nd floor.I had to bring up the lugagges by stairs when i checked in and going down by stairs also when i checked out. I reserved private room but no coffee /tea maker with a glass as it was advertised. Honestly, i was quite dissapointed foe the price of private room.
MoreEverything regarding the structure and staff was absolutely awful. This was the WORST ACCOMODATION EXPERIENCE Ive ever had and the cheap price doesnt justify that. Most of the staff is either very rude or new so they dont know how to help you or dont make any effort, also most of the time there was only one member of staff at the reception so they were always overwhelmed. One girl specifically was the worst staff Ive ever met, and she actually said in a very rude and unacceptably loud tone that I shouldnt approach her while shes talking to someone else as "it gives her anxiety"... and all I wanted was a glass of water. Lift was not working for entirely one of the 2 weeks of my stay, so one can imagine how uncomfortable it is to go up and down the stairs with heavy luggage. Laundry was never working. So DO NOT COUNT ON LAUNDRY AND LIFTS when staying here! And the top of what I was already very bad 2 weeks of stay was my last night, when I arrived to my room and there was another girl on my bed, ALL MY CLOTHES I LEFT ON TOP OF BED EARLIER THAT MORNING GONE!!! The system crashed according to staff and didnt register I was checking out the morning after. When I asked for help - and this was already late, 10:40 PM, they told me to wait as the guy responsible for booking was out for 10 minutes or so. I waited for 30 minutes until the manager actually showed up and he had no clue I was waiting. At least another guy showed up at reception complaining about someone else on his bed in the meantime. To be fair, the manager solved the problem very quickly. I know hostels are not supposed to be comfortable, but even so DO NOT STAY IN THE SAFESTAY ELEPHANT & CASTLE FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS IF YOU DONT WANT AN EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE!!!! I hope it gets better in the future because the location is really good anyways.
MoreUnfriedly and rude staff with condescending attitude. Fire alarms went off several times (some of them around 2am). Youve got to buy UK adapters, youve got to pay for towels and lockers, youve got to buy padlocks and yet theres no kitchen and theres a rule that you cant eat in the common room unless you buy food/drinks from them. And yeah, the "Mediterranean" breakfast was poor even for the UKs standards - there wasnt even scrambled eggs. Overall, pretty dissapointing experience.
MorePretty nice hostel and in a really vibrant, diverse neighborhood with plenty of food options. The train is close by so its easy to get around.Only downfall is some of the staff are pretty rude, but eh its doable.
MoreThe room and lobby were clean. Great location and transport nearby. The downside was that there were no vegan options for breakfast or lunch, and the luck of the draw meant that we had to stay in the same room as guests with hygiene problems. Unfortunately staff were unable to switch our rooms.
MoreI have stayed here around 5 or 6 times, in 6 person and 4 person rooms, and once in a private room. I am a regular business traveller looking for 2-3 nights in London every fortnight for work. I would strongly encourage visitors to use the free members discount on the website. In my view, the hostel is excellent value. It is clean, relatively comfortable, and compared to similiar hostels in the area it is a higher standard. The privacy of the curtains on the bunks is excellent, though you are still at the mercy of your room-mates wakeup schedules. The hostel has a mixed clientele. The main demographic is young 20 somethings, often travelling from abroad. There is also a decent chunk of people just looking for a place to lay their head after a long day or night, who keep to themselves. Ive also met a few characters: extras in movies, older academics, foreign nationals on language courses - a varied and interesting crowd. There are limitations to this sort of environment. The rooms can be a bit stuffy, and lack a fan or any temperature control. There can be noise pollution from other residents and from the busy road outside. There are no desks and rarely a chair. The underbed lockers are sometimes too few for the number of beds. I have not heard of theft and it seems low risk. Room mates are often rising around 7am so you need to be prepared for that. Never had an issue with cleanliness. Bathrooms are good, showers are hot, "shared" showers are not too busy in the morning but the ensuite option is slightly preferable.Booking ahead can be helpful, but it is not essential. The 4 bed rooms are around a third of the price of local airbnbs, whose price fluctuates significantly. Much cheaper than hotels during tourist season, which stretches from April to October. The private room is spacious with a significant ensuite, but is at ground level so gets a little more noise pollution. I would not recommend paying more than £60/night for these, as at that point they are not very competitive with local airbnb of similiar quality in a shared home.I have not really tried the food and drinks at the bar onsite, but nearby there are a few pubs, a Coop which is open to 11pm, and Elephant and Castle roundabout is less than 10 minutes away and has more food options. It is around 15m to walk to Waterloo station, closer to my office. I enjoy the walk to work in the fresh air each morning.
MoreArrived after checking in and paying the day before to find there is no bed for reserved for me so Im stuck all day trying to find somewhere to stay and hundreds out of pocket for a new room somewhere else. I got no help, only we have no room for you.*Edit: wish Id read other reviews, bad organisation, unhelpful and leaving people without a place to sleep has not only happened to me it seems.
MoreWe stayed overnight on a Sunday and paid £60. Thats for a room with bunks for three. Thats amazing value. Sure, it wasnt the comfiest, but you get what you pay for. For one night, it was perfect for what we needed.
MoreBest location and price for London. There are luggage lockers available in the room and cleaning service literally clean the room when you compare with the other hostels.I would love to express here again for the receptionist lady, dear Ikram thank you for your welcoming approach and kind help to solve my problem very quickly.
MoreIve never stayed in a hostel worse than this one. There is a recepcionist guy that should not be working in front of the house (very arrogant, impolite, and provocative person, saw him making fun of guests accents as well. He makes the experience even more terrible since the check in). During 3 nights drunk people were allowed to sleep in my room and once I requested to change rooms at 3am, this recepcionist made fun of the situation. Apart from that, please be aware that they do not reply to emails and dont pick up phone calls. Stayed there for a week and I dont recommend this place at all, especially if you are a woman travelling alone.
Morethis review is based for hostels , and comparing to other hostels i have been so fare , this one is 5 star.rooms are clean and you should prebook breakfast for 6,00 you get a good intercontinental bfst buffet . totally worth it.
MoreRooms were what you would expect from a hostel, basic but clean which was the main thing for us as we just wanted a base to get our head down. Downstairs toilets near reception were gross, far from clean and all blocked that nearly put me off but the room one was fine. Staff were polite and helpful. Location was good, plenty of bus routes, underground near by or London Eye walkable in 20mins. Could do with more lockers as both days we were there couldnt get a locker to leave our bags, luckily Id drove to London so ended up leaving them in the car. No parking but managed to reserve a space close to the hostel online before we arrived.
MoreThe hostel was clean and safe, but i cant say the same for the neighborhood. The noise of police and ambulances during the night stressed me out. Also the streets were full of drunk and kinda dangerous people
MoreBesides the lounge, that steal your perception about the place everything in there is horrible!!Everything is made to make you pay extra . The entire staff has a very bad attitude towards customers, and especially towards those ones that dont spend money in their bar . They use to have a tank of filtered water on the top of the bar for free as many hostels have but they took it away motivating the cups are to costly!!!
MoreThe stuff at the reception was nice and the bed and showers were clean. But that’s it.The room itself was not very clean and quite worn down. The metal locker made a lot of noise and I had a great trouble using it given that I arrived in the night and didn’t want to wake the others. The people sitting at the reception…not even sure all of them are guests. Some look downright homeless and it gives a very uneasy feeling. The furniture in the area is old and dirty. The croissants sold at the reception taste 3 days old, thank God they’re only £1.
MoreIt’s centrally located and it’s very much so within easy reach of local amenities. If you fancy a quick shopping, Co-op is just literally right next to it. There are also the likes of McDonald’s and KFC as well if you fancy a grub or two.I found it easer to walk to London Bridge (10 minutes), however, it takes 3-5 minutes on the bus if you fancy taking a bus instead. The Elephant and Castle Rail and Tube Stations are also within walking distance. So, all in all, the Hostel has great links in and out of Central London! The Housekeeping Team does an amazing job! It never got unnoticed for me! Although, the rooms can have a bad odour and can be dirty at times but that’s down to the people and their personalities as opposed to blaming the Hostel for it. Because the staff are not here to babysit adults in my opinion, charity starts at home as far as I’m concerned. The only thing that was a bother for me the most was the garden right outside the rooms, it gets loud and stinky because of cigarettes and the smoke goes up in the air where the rooms are located and goes straight through the windows. In my room the windows were always open, so that was a bonus and it was nice to air out the room and get a fresh air. I kept my bed nice, tidy and clean and treated it like home as it’s kept me safe. That was the main thing for me above all! And I showed a lot of considerations coming in and going out of the room simply because there are not only international tourists but there are the likes of occupied people at work doing different shifts etc.The reception was always helpful and attentive to the best of their ability and one person in particular I’d like to mention is illo. I have had some issues in relation to my payment and he was such a kind gentleman to deal with it on the spot promptly. He was so calm and collective that resolving my problem has not taken him long to sort it out. He was a true professional and I feel illo deserves a step up on the promotion ladder and maybe be treated to a supervisory position or management? Who knows? All in all, I have never stayed in a Hostel before and it hasn’t been a bad experience at all. I guess that’s because I was always cautious of my surrendering and chose to stay safe as much as I could. Yes, it was a bit weird staying with unknown people in the same room from all walks of life but I guess you pay for what you get.Thank you Safestay
MoreI wanted to pay for a late check out on the day that I was leaving because it doesnt specify in the booking that you need to do it the night before but before I did it the receptionist came to the room and start yelling at me that I have to leave I explained the situation but still she was really rude and told me to leave in 5 min.I took my time to got ready and nobody came and when I went to give them the key I told her she was rude and that diserve an apology but she told me that it was only my opinion and she did not say nothing.Thats on one hand and in the other hand the room was okay but the bed were bunk beds and if the person moved you also moved so it was really annoying and uncomfortable.
MoreSimply dreadful hostel. As an avid traveler this is simply one of the worst. There is no kitchen or place to store your food. There was no place to store your bags before check in (this has never happened to me at any of the dozens of hostels I’ve stayed at). The staff were quite rude, and charged me 30p for some hot water. The place is simply filthy, the floors are flooded. There are 2 single stall bathrooms to every 5+ dorm rooms (this is also included showers!)Please. Don’t stay here.
MoreStaff is nice, however I didn t feel safe in this place. Full of shady characters and homeless people who go to sleep on the couches in the hall during night...the management doesnt seem to care...the toilet inside the room was clogged for most of the time during my stay and the room smelled of sweat...
MoreRooms were clean and serviceable. didnt expect any amenities and didnt get any which was fine. super understaffed for all of the groups rolling through. no fans or air conditioning during the hottest days in London in at least a generation. my two youngest got sick. I had a great trip but probably wont stay here again or visit London during a heat wave again.
More*DISAPPOINTING STAFF BEHAVIOUR*We have one day booking in this hostel. This hostel looks very good and seems to be more friendly environment but the truth is that they just create this hostel as friendly but it’s not actually friendly. When you book hostel, you expect to chill for a long time, click crazy photos and some memories but the staff of that hostel don’t allow you to do that.I still remember that i was going to click photo inside the lobby which was open, i had beer glass in one hand and a cigarette in other hand, ofcourse i was not going to smoke because i know the rules but still there staff member comes & told me that you can’t smoke here, still he saw that i was not smoking. At that time, we checked out and i was just charging my phone. He said “sir, you have only 10 minutes after that you have go from here”.I was shocked by that behaviour, hostels environment should be friendly but not like that.Apart from that rooms are very nice and everything else is great.
MoreA decent hostel. Out side seating area , fairly big lounge area. The room was ok and was clean . The bed was fairly comfortable.
MoreThe rooms were so warm even with open windows and a fan going all night (not the fault of anyone, but just a fact). The whole place smells like feet (which more falls on those staying there). The lobby was quite dingy with carpet that was pretty dirty. Washrooms and showers were alright I guess, but usually on the dirtier/smelly side (again this falls more on the guests who didnt seem to care that someone had just cleaned it). I did like that every bed had curtains that you could pull and have a lot of privacy and the beds in my room also all had little personal lights. The staff were friendly and helpful. I guess it gets a lower rating from me mostly because of the type of crowd that is likely to stay there and how they act and treat the place. It was also in a bit of a sketchy area.
MoreWow what can I say about this place , on first checking in we received amazing friendly service room was clean and sufficient for a stay , again later the bar staff very friendly and helpful, but once you decide to bed down for the evening with your food and a film the staff feel to let them selfs into your room with 20 tourists standing outside staring at you in your underwear(it was very hot lolthen to be questioned by this member of staff if we should even be here ?Now lets bare in mind checkin in was finshed by 10pm and this was after 1130 , so firstly was they checking people in so late ? The member of staff could not understand why my husband so so angery we then complained to front desk who had a long que of people checking in still ? Not 1 member of the staff wanted to help or even understanding of the situation untill the same guy who checked us in appeared he helped us with everything and even took the blame ,which he was not at fault the door had do not disturb on it would not of been hard to double check with her manager of the rooms was correct before she entered without knocking .........
MoreThe bedrooms with bathroom inside are significantly better! The beds are alright, with curtains and light. The cleaning of the bathrooms could be improved.
MoreI stayed at this hostel for 2 nights end of June 2022. I booked online and payed for my stay as usual....then when arrived on the first night they asked me to pay again at the reception desk, which I did with my credit card. One week later I found a doble charge on my card for the same stay at the hostel. I wrote an email right away explaining what happened and got a response saying that they would look in to it. Its been 4 weeks now and I have no answer and they dont answer my phone calls anymore nor my emails. Is this a fraud?Very un professional!!
MoreThe room itself was nice and clean, I liked the decor of the room and bed was comfy but there wasnt a plug point available at the top bunk. There was a shower and toilet which was in the dorm I was in which was handy as you dont need to leave the room to get ready. Location was OK, it was easy to get to more central parts of London but there wasnt much happening in the area around the hostel. There was someone quite argumentative in the room causing some commotion but hey, when you book a hostel thats the sort of situation that could open up, so no fault of the hostel, just down to bad luck.
MoreThe place is really bad, no aircons in the room while it is very hot , staff are not helping at all with anything, it is very noisy at night inside the rooms and outside the tooms, beds, sheets and belows are so cheap , they are not comfortable at all and can cause you a really bad neck and back pain so I dont suggest it for anyone . Lockers are not in the room and you need to pay 2£ everytime you open and close the locker to get something from your bag. I dont really know why the ranking of this place is 7.6 while it doesnt deserve even 4.0 .
MoreThe best things I can say about this hostel is about the beds, they were comfy, and the toilet and shower of the private room, period. After this everything goes to the dogsThe check-in was made by a guy who seemed he was doing a favor to guests, he was undoubtedly frustrated and unhelpful. The reception toilets were a wreck, worse than gas station ones. The are NO sockets with the beds, only inside the rooms, and not enought to everyone. At checkout same situation, receptionist was looking at everyone as if he was doing then a favor. Its a pitty i have to say, because the structure is nice.
MoreBar closes at 10.30 on a Saturday night and no food available. Also went up to my room and cage for locking stuff was broken and no charging point near bed or storage in the bed. I told them and they said nothing they can do. Good transport links and comfy beds, plus a curtain. But quite soulless really. I was glad to leave.
MoreBooked for 2 nights, stayed first night and then while we were out the next day they put all our belongings in bin bags and moved someone else into the room. When we arrived back at 1am after concert at the O2 they acknowledged the mistake but did not help us, we were left without a place to stay in the middle of the night. It took them over an hour to locate all our belongings. Avoid and stay somewhere safer.
MoreAfter checking in (and paying for an early check in!in the afternoon, we returned to the hotel after enjoying a night out- only to find that they bagged up our belongings and gave our room to some man. No apology or anything. Kicking out 3 young women in the middle of the night after they have paid and checked in is disgusting. They obviously are money-grabbers and will happily double book and kick out vulnerable in people. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. It’s extremely unsafe.
MoreThis was the worst hostel Ive ever stayed at. Not at all a hostel vibe. The staff were rude and unhelpful. I booked 3 beds in a 6 bed dorm and we were all put in different dorms, despite booking weeks earlier and there also being two spare beds in the room of one of my companions. They managed to move just one of us for the second night after we spoke to the manager. In my first room I had a bed by the window and there was no curtain over the window and so I was woken by the light very early. Then the room they moved me to was clearly a lot older, dirtier and the beds were incredibly noisy, if anyone made a slight move, the whole room would know. The taps in both rooms had boiling water in them, I almost scalded myself on the first night and I didnt even have the tap set to hot, it was directly in the middle.Overall though the worst part was definitely the service, we felt so uncomfortable if we had to go to reception to speak to anyone. We tried to find somewhere else after the way they treated us but unfortunately everywhere was fully booked unless you were a millionaire! Will never stay here again.
MoreStayed here while working in Brockwell park. Very central location and only 5min walk from train station. Place itself was very secure with plenty of staff and security at all hours. Rooms were very clean and plenty of privacy. Breakfast served in the mornings had a great selection. I recommend this place for groups on tour or needing low cost bed while travelling for work
MoreArrived room was nice enough bathroom lovely . However so noisy at night and especially in the morning, cleaners banging hoovers into the walls and talking very loudly, also room right by some sort of outside entrance for deliveries. Very noisy. Staff pleasant, however do not ask the concierge to book you a taxi!!!!! Think he has a swift backhander as we were told it would be 26.00 to where we were going. He took 30 quid off of me and gave me no change. Booked our own black cab back cost 15 pounds half the price!!! Other than that it was an ok stay for one night
More3.8 stars. The staff is very friendly here and open 24/7 which is helpful. The rooms are well taken care of and nice, as well as the bathrooms and showers. Could have done with better sized locks for luggage and a better lobby/bar area. Maybe somewhere to sit and socialize. Also I got air dropped a explicit picture so…
MoreCame just for one night and arrived at 23 oclock and straight to bed. There are some lockers downstairs that cost 2£, and if you forget smth that you need in your bag that is in the locker, after you open it you have to pay again another 2£ to lock it back. A bit silly for me. Was staying in a bedroom for 4 and there were no small lockers at all ( I had electric key lockers in another hostels, as well in a great location with much cheaper prices for night comparing to this one but it was full for the night i needed).. And i had one of the worst sleep taking in consideration that the next day i had to start a new job and was nervous and had to take pills to try to get asleep because the guy next to me was snooring sooo bad that I was mad all night... But I cant blame the hostel here. Overall the place looked really nice...
Morehostel is clean and the beds had curtains and stuff so thats good BUT there was no kitchen, no fridge, nowhere to store luggage and also there were no plugs near the beds so it was hard to charge my phone / laptop. also in general, for a hostel with like this many people (its hugethe vibes were really weird. idk if thats the hostels fault but no one seemed friendly / social. i also saw only one woman staff member (im sure theres more but stillwhich isnt the most reassuring to a solo girl traveller.
MoreSafestay in Elephant & Castle is a great place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. The housekeeping manager Diana and her team are doing a great job to keep the place nice and clean. Thank you very much for your hard work and support ❤️
MoreAfter emailing to confirm our room would be private and all 6 of us could stay together which was confirmed. When arriving to check in we were told that we would need to be split up as there were no rooms left. After waiting with no updates we were told the only option would be to stay in a 8 bed dorm which had two others in it. The next day staff knocked on the door and requested two of us to move to a different room, when we were told all 6 of us would have our own room. Then as we were going out all day we couldnt get into our new room so had to leave our luggage in the storage room which did not seem secure. Very overpriced, unhelpful staff would not book again.
MoreWhile this is only the fourth hostel I’ve stayed in it was my least favorite. Everything seemed to be in an attempt to make us pay extra. You would have to pay money if they saw you eating your own food in the hostel instead of buying theirs, and you have to pay to keep you bags in a room if you need your bags held in which is not lockers- you put them on the floor with everyone else’s. Then, we walked into the room we thought was private to a room full of guests in their who were apart of some traveling group. Our shower was dirty, and the floor had a leak right outside of our room. The front staff was very limited, making it hard to talk to anyone without waiting in a line for a while. Additionally, we only got one card for multiple people. The other hostels I’ve been in have been decorated way better, and have had complimentary breakfasts or at least let us eat our own food. Also, other hostels I’ve been in seem to be a lot of young travelers, while this one had a large array of people. I liked the curtains here though and the big crates we could put our stuff in in the rooms.
MoreDo not stay here. Upon arrival to our room, my boyfriend and I were met with an atrocious smell and an extremely rude roommate, who claimed we were being loud (though we were moving quietly, and he was fully clothed with the lights onand then asked if I was "deliberately being a noisy c*nt." The next day, we had a friend joining and had to re-check in under a new booking. We also explained the situation with the rude man in the room and asked if we could be placed elsewhere. First, they said they would "talk" to him (though the terms and conditions state that a roommate causing discomfort to guests would be removedeven though we didnt want any confrontation, just to move rooms. Then they told us to come back in an hour as there was an extremely long line (as there usually waswith only one staff member handling check in and they werent sure which rooms were booked and which were empty. We came back an hour later and they told us to wait longer. Finally they found a room for us that the staff member "thought" had two empty beds. Though we paid for three beds, my boyfriend and I had to share one and my friend took the other empty bed. Around 1am the guests of the room returned and pointed out that we had been placed in their friends bed. Thanks to their kindness we were able to work something out, and their friend slept in another room in the hostel. Then, at 5am, a staff member barged in the room, waking everyone up and telling us we were in the wrong bed and had to come with him. We explained the situation and refused. He said he could go talk to the man and put us back in the old room, which made absolutely no sense as we had already been moved and checked out of that room. The next day, we were told by a staff member that out bags might be stolen if we left them behind the desk, implying that staff was untrustworthy with our items. Luckily, nothing was taken. Aside from these incidents, this hostel is poorly laid out, confusing to navigate (even a staff member got lost taking us to our room), and understaffed. The staff were kind and helpful, but the problems with this hostel made our stay here extremely difficult.
MoreThe great thing about the hostel is the location. It’s in a pleasant neighborhood and within a walking distance to the main attractions. Plus the busses leaving from right in front of it will take you to the most desired destinations. There is a small supermarket next to it and a super nice diner across the street. The hostel itself is not so perfect. It is clearly understaffed and chaotic. We had to wait for our luggage we left in the luggage room for almost 30 minutes before someone came to us.The staff is in a hectic craze to keep up with the work and they’re not the nicest due to that.We were leaving at 5 a.m and I specifically asked about checkout at such a time and was instructed to just leave the key at the check in/out desk. But the guy forget to mention that at that time the checkout area located at the bar is closed. So at 5 a.m, just a few minutes before our bus was leaving, we were a bit panicked and searching for the night reception that was not indicated anywhere and an open way out just to be able to leave the building. The family room was fine, a separate secluded section, but it was really warm. The duvets were super thick and the room got really stuffed at night. The ventilation did not work and the bathroom was dump all the time with some ceiling mould. All in all, if the staff and organization gets improved this might be a really great place to stay.
MoreWhen I walked through the hallway you could hear everything what happend in the other rooms. The beds were very bad, they felt like plastic, the pillows felt like rocks and when you moved they made a lot of noises. It took a very long time to have breakfast. Lots of rooms didnt have any bathrooms. The wifi was horrible. We ordered and paid for lunch to take away but when we wanted to receive them they werent prepared. It was way to expensive for what we got.
MoreI had the WORST experience of my entire life at this hostel. The organization is a chaos, mainly by the management that puts ONLY 1 EMPLOYEE to take care of the reception, bar and bags.I arrived at the hostel on April 29, 2022 at 11am to check in and leave my backpack. I was informed that check in was from 3 pm, but that I could leave my backpack in a room where other guests also left it. Everything was fine. The employee told me that at check-in time I would have to wait for the person at the reception to get my backpack, as the room was secured with a key.I arrived at the hostel at 8pm to check in and pick up my belongings, as I needed to shower and get ready to enjoy my first Friday in London. It was here that everything started to turn into chaos. The employee very curtly informed me that I could only remove my backpack at 11:30pm and that this should have been advised by the previous employee, who DID NOT. I tried to talk, also because it was not the fault of this night employee, explaining that I needed to take a shower and that it was a mistake of the previous employee and that mistake could not punish me, without letting me have access to my items and DOCUMENTS (a federal crime). There was no demonstration of an attempt at resolution by the employee who was clearly exhausted from her duties as there were too many responsibilities for just one professional. The lack of respect, irony/sarcasm and rudeness made me book a new hotel to get out of that environment as quickly as possible. With that said, I asked again to have access to my belongings and passport to go check in at another hotel and I was prevented from doing so, she explained that from 11:30pm there would be two employees and I could pick them up.SUMMARY: I PAID A NEW HOTEL, BUS TO THE NEW HOTEL TO WAIT FOR 11:30 AM TO TAKE ANOTHER BUS TO THE HOSTEL TO GET MY BELONGINGS AND DOCUMENTS TO TAKE AN UBER BACK TO THE HOTEL AND BE ABLE TO CHECK IN.
MoreIf you are about to book at this hostel, I hope this comment will help you.My stay began with the fact that check in is at 3:00 p.m., as I had arrived early, I requested that they provide me with a locker. They told me they didnt have room but they could store it in a "hold" which would cost me £2 per bag. I had no choice but to pay it. (clarification: they do not take you to a "warehouse", they simply leave them at the reception in front of everyone). After checking in at 3pm, I got to my room. I had the bed upstairs, as the room was practically empty, I requested the change. After literally 10 minutes of searching, the receptionist told me that the room was full (coincidentally when I woke up the next day there were more than 4 unused beds). As the food of the place is super expensive, I decided to go to the. supermarket next door for dinner, I asked the receptionists if they could lend me the microwave, or if they had an oven in the kitchen, they told me that they couldnt do that.In addition to those problems, the place is super dirty (I attach a photo), the plugs do not work and the Wi-Fi does not reach the room.If there is something that I recommend, IT IS NOT TO GO TO THIS HOSTEL, not only that they are not helpful at the reception, but also that the neighborhood does not look safe at all.It should be noted that I had 2 nights booked, and after the experience of the first night, I decided to change hostels.I hope to help with this comment.
