Saeluhus Apartments & Houses in Akureyri

Would give zero stars. Terrible service. No soaps in the bathroom. We stayed for 2 nights and the beds were not made. The wet towels on the floor remained, the trash was not picked up. They did not replace towels and there was no phone to contact anyone. Horrible experience.

Well I chose this place due to the high rating, but I was expecting much better experience , I regret not picking a hotel, but most of the good ones were already booked! To be fair , the place was spacious , had all what can be needed in kitchen and so on , but felt abit old, and the bathroom was also old! To be fair also it was good value for money!

I stayed in one of the units that had a private hot tub on the patio - 10/10 would recommend, and the beds were the most comfortable of all the places I stayed while in Iceland. Theres nothing like sitting out on the hot tub watching the sunset on the trees.

We stayed in a Studio “house” for 1 night after a long day exploring the northern parts of Iceland. Before our arrival, we received a message from the property, telling us our apartment number and the check-in instructions. We liked this arrangement very much, because it took away the stress of us having to rush through our itinerary, to arrive before a certain “end of check-in time” as practised by some other smaller hotels.All the houses seem to be on ground level (like terrace houses), and each has a free parking space right in front at the doorstep. We love the layout of the studio. It was very well structured, and the kitchen was very well equipped. Our bed was comfortable, and the studio was well cleaned and heated. We had a little balcony with nice views of the greenery. The shower was hot with good water pressure, and sufficient toiletries were provided for. Wifi was fast and free. We slept very well at night, as it was very quiet, and the black-out curtains worked great.For the price we had paid for the room, we are very satisfied with the studio. The town of Akureyri was very charming. We wish we had time to stay more nights, as the studio was very cosy and comfortable. We have no qualms in recommending this property to others visiting the area.

We stayed in a three bedroom house. 6 could fit in this house. It was great! Clean, decorated nicely, had everything you’d need to feel at home. Dishes, pans, etc all there. In the fridge was meat, fruit, veggies, milk, orange juice, cheese, etc. Also there were cinnamon buns and a bag of granola cereal. Plus, a loaf of bread. There was a washer and dryer but the dryer would stop, make a LOUD thunk sound and then start squeezing. It would do that over and over throughout the cycle. It did dry the clothes non-the-less. Definitely dry this place. Truly a great find!! Sorry no photos. We were enjoying ourselves so much we didn’t think about taking any of the place.

Brilliant apartment with outdoor hot tub. Enjoy the stay in Akureyri. Next time I will live here at least 2 nights.

I love the city of Akureyi, so beautiful nestled in the mountains facing the ocean. Apartment check-in (no contactwas extremely easy and seamless. Studio was clean and had basic amenities available (stove, sink, microwave, private bathroom). Private hot tub is easy to turn on and drain through the touch of a switch. However, water was quite hot in the summer with seemingly no way to adjust the temperature, would be perfect in winter. The view is pretty as well facing the water and trees. Located at top of hill so driving is likely preferred to visit downtown area, there are parking lots available downtown.

Super great stay! Apartment seemed newly updated and was quiet. Great location near the town. We were so relieved to be able to do laundry here near where you check in/drop off key.

A very pleasant surprise. We had low expectations for this stay because of some bad reviews but we cant understand why anyone wouldnt be comfortable here. The studio is huge and has everything that you could possibly need. It has tons of storage and a beautiful view from a balcony/small patio. The bed was really comfortable (although the pillows could be betterand the location was good, close to a supermarket and the Botanical Gardens. I would recommend it and would stay here again.

Really nice and clean room. Pretty spacious, and was thankful for the terrace. Also very convenient location as we were able to walk to town in about 15 mins, and got to enjoy the Akureryi Botanical Garden on the way back up.

Due to Covid we had to change our dates twice. Thanks to Palina this was no problem at all! She answered always really quick and was super friendly and helpful! Our stay itself was perfect. We had a huge house for ourself which was clean and spacious. We had our own washing machine, but even if you have booked a smaller apartment you have access to a shared washing machine and dryer. The kitchen had everything we needed. The most beautiful thing was the amazing view over the fjord which we had from our living room, kitchen and the terrace where we loved to have our breakfasts and dinners. We had a beautiful time here as a couple, but I can also recommend Saeluhus if you have children as there are up to seven beds in one apartment. You can park right in front of the houses, supermarkets are only a few minutes away and you can walk into the center in less than 15 minutes. The location is also really quiet at night.

Good place but you need to be 25+ or get a guardian to take responsibility for you to check in. Everything else is top tier a supermarket is close by and the staff are nice.

Had a great stay here, staff were helpful and even gave us an upgrade. Wanted a place with a hot tub and this didnt disappoint. Was warm and homely. Check out the swimming pool nearby.

Modern, clean, well designed apartments with a balcony equipped with hot bathtub! We loved the place and stayed there for 4 nights.The facility manager was extremely kind and helpful. I made a mistake in booking and lost the dates. She just rebooked the place for free in the high season for us. It would never happen elsewhere! I couldn’t thank her enough!

I dont even know where to begin! The facilities were wonderful and the room was clean and the view was beautiful! We stayed there for two nights and forgot a necklace at the room upon leaving. The customer service was beyond amazing and they are sending it back to the United States. We cant begin to thank them enough for this and we would recommend this place to anyone. The studio was perfect ! The staff was super helpful and very friendly , room was clean , spacious and had such a great view. The staff even sent me my gold necklace back to the U.S that I forgot in the room !! How honest and nice ! My fiancé and I couldn’t be more happy with the stay !!Thank you so much for everything 😁

Easy to retrieve keys if arriving after hours. Rooms were large and clean. Free wifi. Very friendly check out staff. Already recommended to family.

Totally recommend this place. Nice, big and clean apartments and houses, also well equipped. Good view on river or mountains, depending of location. Hot tube is the best place to observe auroras. Staff is very helpful, Just ask about anything.

This apartment was very nice and modern. Our room had a jacuzzi and the bathroom actually had hair conditioner!!! I really liked this place.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and 4 years later. The apartments and houses are fantastic! They are clean and modern, and the view of the bay is stunning, especially from a hot tub. It was really fun having our own kitchen and whipping up Icelandic inspired meals with ingredients from the Bonus down the street. The botanical gardens are very close and its an enjoyable walk. The management is quick to respond to questions via email, and the women at the front desk were helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Sæluhus!

Stayed here recently and it was one of the best holiday houses weve ever stayed in, super spacious, super clean, beds super comfortable, super helpful staff, honestly dont have a bad word to say about the place

Very clean and warm apartment with a nice hot tub and friendly reception. Saw the Aurora from the balcony on 2 of our 4 nights there. Only 15 minute walk into town, quite steep on the return trip but there is also a free city bus.

Friendly staff, good basic condo setup, and only like 10 minutes walk from the center. The views were nice!

The apartment was very nice. Clean, bright and the bed was good. The location was perfect for us, close to everything we needed but out of traffic and weekend partying in town. We thought there was a hot tub when we booked but only some apartments have them, that was disappointing but we should have read the description better.

Very nice apartment away from the noise of the business district but within walking distance. We relaxed in our private hot tub while enjoying a view of the fjord. Paulina the manager made our stay exceptional. She went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed for a great stay.

A bit out of the way and apartments are standalone without a communal lounge. Very comfortable and warm.

The Saeluhus apartments were AMAZING. This one probably one of the nicest places we stayed at in Iceland. The apartments were brand new, extremely modern, and had very clean design. We loved the full kitchen and awesome TV. They also had on-site laundry machines which was very convenient. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and efficient with check-in and check-out.Location wise, the apartments are a quick drive from the town center and very close (by carto the famous Brynja ice cream shop recommended to us by a local. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Excellent accommodations. Location is very good. Manager and staff are super nice and helpful. 2-bed units are great (2 twins), and 4-bed units have hot tub (2 twins and full size Murphy bed). This town is really nice, by the way.
