Sabai Thai Eatery - Thai restaurant in Winnipeg, Canada
We love this place. I have been going there since it first opened..Service is great. Food is great. This a good family owned restaurant.
The best Thai in the city.I just love it there
Great food not to expensive
Service was excellent! Food was really very well prepared and tasty. Lots to pick from the menu and everything we picked was a winner. Definately well be back.
Best Thai in Winnipeg! Love the food and staff
Went there with 7 people. We share a bunch of dishes. We loved lychee duck curry, pad thai, papaya salad etc.
We have been to many Thai restaurants in the city, and have to say this is the best one! The only place where the chicken pad thai is made perfect, where its not flooded with so much sauce...just the best!! Anyway, great quality ingredients go into the food they make. My husband and I are always so happy after every meal. The Masamman Yellow Curry is so good. OMG the best!!
This was awesome. We got the papaya salad which was perfect. The tofu pad Thai had the right flavors and the koi soi wasn’t out favorite but made us realize we are going often. The service was good and they are open for lunch
A small local restaurant, the food is delicious. I found the meat portion to be very skimpy in the curry and drunken noodle dishes, maybe 1-2 ounces per dish, cut into tiny pieces. A word of warning, you must buy rice to go with your entrees, its not included like at other restaurants.
Absolutely fantastic food!! Cannot recommend enough, came here for the first time yesterday and had the spring rolls, golden triangle stir fry, and green curry soup. Possibly the best food I have had in my life, the green curry soup especially is to die for! I will definitely be coming back, if you are considering this place just go for it, you wont have any regrets!
The green curry soup was fantastic and I loved the crab rangoons.
Amazing taste but smaller portions. The new norm I expect.
Weve been here 4 times this month. The food is amazing! Small family owned restaurant with some amazing food that has been consistently amazing. Prices well. Portions are generous. And the food dishes taste different from one another. Amazing.
Went there for the first time recently and enjoyed their tom yum soup, green curry, and pad thai. Make sure you reserve a table ahead of time if you are planning to eat on a Friday or weekend evening. We got there at 5pm and every table was already reserved.
So happy it is open for lunch again. We had the summer rolls....so good. I had red curry and my boyfriend had the mushroom curry...excellent!!! We missed going here. Love it!!!
The best Thai food in Winnipeg and this is why I keep going back. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because their ordering system is annoying. You can only call them when they open at 5 to order. If the line is busy, they say call back in 3-5 mins. I’ve wanted to order so many times but am not able to get through, even after calling multiple times. This results in me ordering elsewhere unfortunately. They need an online system in place.
Delicious food at very good prices. Ive never had a meal here that falls to impress. Almost every dish has both meat and tofu options, which gives lots of options for both carnivores and vegetarians.
One of our favourite local restaurants! We always recommend to friends. Amazing food & service every time we visit :)
Worst Thai ever. We eat Thai a lot. Our usual haunts are Bangkok, and Sukho Thai, which we love. However, we thought we’d branch out and try a new place last night. Big mistake. The green curry looked looked like it had bright green food dye in it. The chicken in it was actually stained green. The stir fry we chose was flavourless and spiceless, as was the red curry. The massaman curry had hardly an sauce, and the beef chunks in this curry were close to being inedible. Tough and chewy. The spring rolls were nearly translucent with oil. The only reason we give this one star, is because Google doesn’t let me give it zero stars. One minor complaint, and this is minor, this restaurant has a very limited menu. You won’t find all the favourites here. Anyway, we will never order from here again. Gross.
amazing food! crab rangoons were a bit different than at other places, very delicious. three mushroom panang is good too (if you like mushrooms, there are a lot!)
Their chiang mai noodle is so good that I kept going back and never ordered other meals. Its a combination of crunch from noodles, flavourful sauce and fresh veggies. If you like spice, be sure to get some of those powdered chili? from them. Highly recommended the place.
Sabai is always amazing! Green coconut curry with chicken, matsaman curry with tofu, golden triangle with beef and Chiang Mai vermicelli noodle with chicken. A perfect combination!
Customer service and portion size have gone down, but price has not. Decent Thai veggie food, however it seems that they have a settled clientele of wealthy retirees that come in after church and synagogue. The staff doesnt care to engender customer service.
Ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, mango salad, 3 mushroom tofu panang curry and drunken noodles with shrimp for takeout. The service was friendly and the food was ready shortly after they said it would be. Each dish was tasty, although the mango salad was slightly salty and the peanut sauce for the spring rolls could have used more peanut flavour. The portions seemed like a good value for the price and overall, I was very happy with my experience.
Every dish has a distinct and succulent flavour, doesnt matter if its takeout or dine in. The best Thai in the city and there are other good ones!
I must have caught them on a bad day.... the reviews look good, but my experience was not. The sticky rice, which I usually love, was hard and cold. the pad thai lacked taste and shrimp....but the part i liked least, was that every bit of food was wrapped in cheap plastic inside the containers, including the rice. the plastic was not only wasteful - it gave the food a bad taste. We had to throw most of it out unfortunately. Maybe better luck next time.
Tasteful environment, friendly accommodating staff, delicious inventory of authentic Thai food. Did I mention all at an affordable price. NICE!!
Tried four different dishes, and it was like eating Thai food for the first time. Each dish has a unique and new taste, with no over powering generic flavour. Good value, good service.
Exceptional value for money. Forget Winnipeg, this just might be among the best Thai places in Canada thanks to fresh ingredients and subtle flavour pairings that leave you wanting more. 5 stars for sure.
Guess the owner must turn down the heat when they close. Arrived at 1130 am and left at 115 pm. My feet were cold the entire time as the other two seated at the table were cold too.Old building with a funky smell, needs to be addressed.Luncheon was delicious 4*excellent service
Sabai offers up great Thai food in the Corydon area of Winnipeg. Their spring rolls and Massaman Curry are just two great options among many. Friendly service makes this place a must!
A small restaurant with decent seating, friendly, attentive staff and delicious food. They offer a nice selection of Thai dishes, including one that uses pickerel cheeks (not a Thai fish but definitely a fish that lends itself well to the cuisine). This is the place to go if you enjoy sharing dishes and want to experience a variety of well prepared food.
They are hands down the best Thai restaurant in Winnipeg. Love their pineapple curry and red curry with prawn. Their springs rolls and black been garlic noodles are really delicious too. You choose your spice level and they always accommodate to my requests! Very friendly staff, they go above and beyond. Once when I ordered takeout, I only had $40 cash and forgot my cards at home, even though the meal was $45. The owners/staff said it was okay and I could just pay $40, even though they do not even know me as a regular. I did tell them I order frequently and will pay them back next time I order from them but phenomenal food and service! :)
Cozy spot with consistently good food and great service. Highly recommend the cashew and roasted chili jam stir fry with chicken, matsaman beef curry and shrim pad thai. Dont forget the crab rangoon!
I enjoyed the taste of the Tom Yum soup. I ordered the small bowl for $7. However, they could put more veggies or beef (my chosen meatin the soup. Also, the fresh spring roll was good. The highlight was the Fried Banana dessert served with ice cream and sprinkled with almonds!
Always so good, my favorite Thai in the city. We ordered for take out: spring rolls, red curry and pad Thai. Spring rolls were crunchy and delicious and the peanut dip is SO good.We asked for the red curry to be a "5" spiciness and it was delicious, but maybe a little higher on the spice scale. My wife is not a fan of spicy so it detracted from it a little bit, but we both still loved it.Pad Thai I requested a "7" and that was a bit of a mistake. I love spicy food and even for me it was a bit much. When we have eaten in, the spice comes as a powder on the side and you sprinkle it on yourself. However I guess they mix it in for a take out order. It was just a bit too much and a 5 would have been better. But overall very happy with our meal and very glad to see they have reopened. Sabai is a favorite for sure.
Amazing lychee duck curry!Papaya salad was awesome!Tasty green curry udon!
Food was excellent, especially the green curry. The place was clean and had a good ambiance. Most of the tables were booked up so highly recommend making a reservation if youre coming on a Friday night.
This is our first choice for Thai food. Modest decor with delicious food. Staff are friendly and offers fast service. Take-outs are ready when they say they would be. Reasonable prices.
Its a moderate place.not too fancy. Food taste alright at the right price.
Having been here multiple times I can say I’ve never had a bad experience. Certainly one of the best Thai food restaurants in the city! Make sure to call before hand for reservations because this place is always packed.
Sabai Thai Eatery is amazingly delicious and awesome place to eat in town. The food is amazing customer service 10/10 to me. She remembered us and our favouritesCrab RangoonSweet Chili SlawCoconut SoupKhao San Pad ThaiGreen Spicy Coconut CurryCheck it out.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Winnipeg. Everything has a tofu option, so its great for vegetarian (not sure about fish sauce, though). Portions are well-sized, especially the soups; a small is good for 3-4 to share as an appetizer -- dont miss the coconut soup or the eggplant curry!
I had the vegetable tom yum soup here. No noodles were in the soup except for a bunch of vegetables and broccoli? I know it was a vegetarian soup but I dont see broccoli as a popular choice of vegetables in an Asian restaurant lol. My sister had the pad thai. It tasted really good but price wise for the amount you get? Too expensive. This place has good food but the portions are small and over priced. I couldve just made my own Thai food at home.
My best Thai meal yet!! The tofu here is excellent. We had the sweet chili slaw, red cabbage and carrot in a peanut sesame dressing topped with crispy tofu, and everyone loved it. We then had the yellow pineapple curry and mushroom Panang curry which I would also highly recommend. We finished the meal off with the sticky rice and mango dessert. Every dish was loved by everyone!
Its not a big place but the flavours are so good that I wasnt even able to take a picture of the food, we finished it as soon as it came which is way faster than I thought. So there, food is excellent, service is fast and top notch and I will definitely come back again.
The best reason to return to Winnipeg!! The food is so fresh that we have missed this neighbourhood family owned restaurant. Food is unbelievably fresh and very well priced. We have not found this quality anywhere else in Canada and we have looked. Order the mango salad and some beef lap.... you wont be disappointed!
Ive always had an excellent time at this place and have left too full to walk! I must recommend their coconut curry soup and the pad thai. My only tiny negative is that steamed rice doesnt come with your meal. $2.00 a bowl for rice is a bit much but not so much that you can really complain about it.
Satay chicken appetizer was the only thing I could really eat. They were good flavoured but dry. Too many menu items had seafood and Im allergic so I wont go back. Prices are higher than a few others. Service was lacking even though we were there past the supper rush and most tables were empty.
Great food. Last curry I had was a little thick, and the service seemed to be confused. I have had better experiences in the past, but this is my favourite Thai restaurant. The wings are amazing and the Bangkok Betty is delicious.
