Polished Danish nook offering open-face rye sandwiches and other comfort foods plus akvavit snaps.
The people were so nice here! We tried out some pastries and sandwiches, I personally really liked the sandwich I had and hope to come back here sometime :)
Amazing experience of home style cooking and close knit team work at the front end. Very international team is smiley warm and happy to think about how to make you feel welcone and cared for. Very happy. My salmon was exceptional, currd for 24 hours before cooking, it was superb.Did not get to deserts as I was swayed in direction of Danish shnappes and it was a worthwhile distraction.Five stars through out! Be back soon.
Perfect breakfast/brunch (I love that it came with a generous green saladand the people are so lovely. Delicious hot chocolate made in house. Im becoming a regular here!
SNAPS and RYE omg it is amazing definitely worth coming here and please order all of these dishes
Just visited this place with some friends. We all loved the food and the atmosphere is quite cozy with smiley service. If you’re going there with pram/pushchair let them know in advance.
Snaps + Rye is a cosy cafe in Notting Hill, great for breakfast. Started off with some well-brewed, smooth cappuccinos and a flaky, delicious cinnamon roll pastry. The Smoked Salmon Scramble was great choice with plenty of salmon and well-cooked eggs. The rye bread was delectable, dense and moist, going well with the butter. The buttermilk oat porridge was smooth with the berry compote giving it a nice kick. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Excellent tasty Danish food. Good value for money and courteous staff. The best hot chocolate ever
Amazing Danish restaurant with great authentic menu, fresh ingredients and fine aesthetics. Special selection of decor design objects. Flawless service. Greatly recommended for brunch.
Loved it! Was my first time in Notthing Hill and we found out this place luckily. Food is healthy and delicious, and the place is so pretty! Must go! Try the aquavit!
Been there the 2nd time. And it was awesome. Found an offer, called The Danish Way. Dont know, why I missed that last time, because its great. You get one Danish beer, a Smorrebrod of your choice and a snaps, also the one you want. Had the herring and the egg+prawn, both really tasty. The snaps, I had the dill version was kinda freaky, but pretty cool. Enjoyed my visit there. Last but not least because of the professional and funny staff. Love it. Recommend you and come back personally.
Dropped in here today while wandering round near Portobello Road and were so glad we did. The portions are that just right size - not too big, not too small. Everything we had was delicious: from the smoked salmon kedgeree to the full Danish breakfast to the side of pickled herring. My only regret is I couldnt eat more.
Good food, great service, cute decor
nice service. We arrived at two pm and the kitchen was in a break. However, the cheesecake was really good.
Well, for me that awesome. Never had Danish food before and for me that was a wonderful surprise, it tasted really good, will need to have more in the future. The restaurant has as a nice and cosy atmosphere, so it may be worth booking a table before you go, just in case for those special occasions. The staff were friendly and polite which helped us have a good experience there.I would definitely go back again to eat.
Fantastic brunch! Perfect service! Yummy food! We could not asked more today! We came here after a suggestion from a friend of us and we have to say that the place is cute and the food is great, service was second to none!Absolutely recommended! Try their smoked in house salmon, their rye bread and the herring for a different type of food from your usual brunch. It is not a cheap place but quality and service is high!
Great place for Danish food in London. Good service!
Came here today and had Nordic Kedgeree, absolutely delicious. They use good quality ingredients and great flavours. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced too. Vegan options available and good selection of dishes on the menu. It would be better if they have a baby changing facilities. Coffees was a little disappointing, but the food is good.
Simple yet tasty breakfast and Brunch menu. Amazing staff and I really loved the "bloody Viking" cocktail.
Here is the most delicious coffee I’ve ever had in london. Staff was very friendly, the place was tidy and has a comfortable atmosphere. I had a full breakfast and flat white, it was nice.
Tasty danish breakfast apart from apaling porridge.
Good Good : Take just a note: the breakfast and the brunch menu finish around 12:00. Anyway the lunch menu is great as well.Reservation is recommended during the weekend : we got a table even calling em the same day we decided to go.We spent a pleasant time here. Thank you.
Absolutely fantastic place for brunch or a light lunch. Unique flavour combinations and superb presentation. The salmon pate with the rye crackers was magnificent.
Nice welcome, lovely ginger biscuits and atmosphere ...warm and clean ... Nice light cake ...
The place was recommended to us by a friend , the food was good but the portions were tiny.It was Sunday around 1 pm and the restaurant had run out of avocado, orange juice as well as other items on the menu. its unfortunate since the place is actually nice!
Serving Scandinavian food with a twist. Nicely positioned on Portobello road in Nottingen Hill. Street seats available for sunny days. Very good service.
The Danish Breakfast is a must. All other chosen dishes for breakfast were also very nice. We got there at 10am and did not have to wait for a table.
Excellent place. Was there for breakfast. Got a full danish ryebread breakfast with bacon, pudding, egg and spinach. Also open top danish style sandwich.Perfect place to start a saturday Portobello market visit. And you definitely need to return back for a cheesecake stop. Also they have really strong coffee if you prefer.Very friendly staff. Worth money, we paid around 15-20 per person
Nice staff and heavenly food! Must try!
Delicious, creative food! It is on the expensive side - expect to pay around £60 per person for your dinner and drinks - but I actually think its worth it. We really enjoyed our meal, and cant wait to treat ourselves again.
Came here for lunch on my own. I found the staff a little unwelcoming when I first arrived. I walked in and said hello and they all looked at me and didnt say anything, which I didnt like especially as I was on my own (this almost lost them another star)However the main waitress I had was nice and friendly and she recommended the liquorice latte (I liked it but its an acquired taste for sure!To eat I got the mushroom pâté with soft eggs and rye bread. The food was incredible - really strong flavours but not too reliant on salt, and an explosion of different textures. However, be warned: the portions are small! For £18 I usually expect a little bit more food on my plate or coffee in my mug but its the kind of place where you pay for the taste and presentation and not the size.I saw a few negative reviews about the speed of service. I personally did not find this to be an issue. I was seated, served and billed within about 30 mins. If I had chosen to stay longer and take my time I could have but I had to get back to work.Recommend this place if you are looking to impress someone, but perhaps not if they are very hungry!
Brunch was good & atmosphere was cosy. The wait staff were helpful, however at the end of our meal, after we paid, staff rudely asked us to finish our conversation to leave & started cleaning our table. I get that the place is busy, however the attitude by the staff wasnt necessary. It felt like after we paid, we were then treated like a nuisance for staying & finishing up our drinks and dessert. If I had known we were going to be treated like that, I wouldnt have stayed for coffee & dessert! Probably wont go back.
Delicious brunch. We went for brunch on a Saturday. It was completely full (essential to book ahead, even for two peoplebut didnt feel crowded because theyve left enough space between tables. The food is wonderful, with familiar breakfast/brunch foods given a Danish twist. The decor is very relaxing. Scandinavian design and plenty of decorative plants for greenery. The service was very friendly and prompt. We felt like we were being treated as regulars even on our first visit. The entrance is step-free and wide enough for a pushchair or wheelchair.
Friendly staff, cosy minimalist aesthetic, delicious Danish food - had the kedgeree and pickled herring sandwich - both were spot on. Would give the birch water a miss next time, and the overly foamy flat white was only okay, so youre better off getting coffee elsewhere if youre picky. Definitely book ahead at weekends, saw lots of people turned away.
Nice place to have a breakfast. A little bit small and noise. The staff was very nice and the food was also good. I recommend to make a reservation at least for Sunday.
Cannot overstate the calm, comforting Scandinavian aesthetic. Had a lovely lunch of herring salad, with radish, greens, egg, and potato. Best part was the crispy rye - a delicacy in its own right. Wish there had been room for dessert! Nice gifts are also available from their small retail section, including my favourite SCANDINAVISK candles.
Amazing staff, cozy hygge vibe, and of course delicious food! 😋
Small, cosy, typical (clicheDanish. Great for breakfast or lunch, sweetspot around 2pm when breakfast, brunch and lunch is all orderable. Fast service, great, enthusiastic staff.
Loving Snaps and Rye! Its like visiting a genuine Danish cafe/restaurant. The place has been designed beautifully down to the details of the crockery and cutlery. The food is authentic and tastes fresh. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because the portions could have been bigger but maybe thats because Im greedy or because it was such an easy and pleasant experience. Having said that it was perfectly fine for lunch and a welcome addition to this foodie road.
I had a lovely time at Snaps and Rye. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is outstanding! We even got to try the special Christmas Snaps! Amongst fantastic food and service, the atmosphere is really down to earth and makes you feel at home. They have an assortment of books, licorice, spices, etc.. that you can purchase as well. One of my favorite places!
Lovely food, nice ambience and great service . The squash , kale pickles and seed starter plate it is amazing !!! Flavours and mixture to perfection !!!
Great food and service. Good for sharing a few dishes and trying different things.
High quality Danish cuisine - fresh ingredients, well balanced. Friendly service!
Visited before during the day time so tried out for a dinner with a friend this time. Its a pity that they do not offer a la carte for dinner service, but the set menu was quite interesting and tasty. A slight down side was the beef steak main course - it was very chewy. Staff are friendly & helpful.
Authentic, tasty and healthy. Great service and friendly hostess. Delicious mushroom paté, goats cheese with seeds and beetroot with rye bread. Liquorice hot chocolate and latte also a must try. There is though improvements to be made on comfort of chairs and tables and decoration.
Good food but very poor service - had the full rarebit and a baked custard/peach/almond dessert. Rarebit great but small, huge hogs pudding was good as was the viking ketchup. Spinach washed away the flavours but tomato was great. Lightly pickled mushrooms worked well. Bacon very fatty which isnt for me but what meat there was had a great flavourDessert was an all too forgettable bread and butter style pudding... not sure where the baked custard comes into it really. Fairly bland.Liquorice latte was goodAbout 8 people in the cafe and 2 staff on the floor. Was seated near the till. Yet it took ages after getting menu to be asked for my order then ages to get somebodys attention to get the bill. Then even after bill was brought nobody cane to take my payment after 5 minutes so I had to go up to the till myself. Very annoying when dining solo
The food here is excellent and was a great representation of the food my husband and I loved while in Denmark. We enjoyed the fixed menu option, it was a phenomenal value! The time we spent in Snaps & Rye was some of the best on our trip to London!
If youre looking for a delicious and a bit untraditional lunch in Notting Hill, you will definitely enjoy this place! They serve traditional Danish food but with their own personal touch. The vibe is very Scandinavian and we even had a (very friendlyDanish waiter. Try the Sun over Golborne!
This is a fantastic new Danish restaurant in the Notting Hill area thats proving a huge hit with locals and I can now see why! The menu isnt your average fare and theres a lovely, modern Scandi style decor that transports you straight to Copenhagen. The atmosphere is calm and casual (which makes a change from other noisy and chaotic NH eateriesand the welcome is friendly and genuine from the moment you set foot inside. The wine was excellent and so was the service. You only need to lift an eyebrow to get attention but the staff are never intrusive.Theres a set menu for dinner and its all absolutely delicious, using fresh, interesting ingredients in typically Danish ways. We started with a soft hens egg, served with parsley crumble and scorched greens then followed it with smoked duck with a delicious burnt apple salad. I had the seared tuna for main which was delicious, my fiance went for the guinea fowl and said it was outstanding. The cheese was delightfully smelly and strong (just how we like itand the Danish apple cake worth every naughty calorie. A shot of home-made snaps was the perfect way to finish the meal.I left with a loaf of their homemade rye bread tucked under one arm and determined to come back for breakfast as soon as possible - rumour has it thats meant to be even better than dinner!
Amazingly great value 5 course dinner. Cant go wrong fresh and rotating menu makes it easy to choose. Check it out. Great selection of Danish beers as well.
I hate to admit it but the liquorice latte is a guilty pleasure. This Danish cafe is a great place for breakfast or a light lunch, but it truly shines on the evenings its open for a set menu dinner. Choose meat or fish - though they also accommodate vegetarian & vegan diets if given a bit of notice.
