Stylish spot featuring traditional Japanese eats such as sushi & ramen made with local ingredients.
Sushi is always a good choice. The ramen is great as well.
Some of the best sushi Ive had. All sushi is not created equal!
Tonkotsu Ramen with kimchi and spice bomb. Broth so-so, noodles so-so, kimchi was very good. Tea was good too.
It’s always a good time at Sato!!!! There is nothing bad on this menu!!!! If you haven’t been here you need to!
Sushi was great and the sake flights are a good way to try out different sakes. The chefs choice is a MUST.
Authentic Japanese ramen and sushi. Theres a variety of dishes, including monthly food and drink specials, vegetarian options, and vegan options. There is a private back patio garden for the summer.
I didnt know they had a back patio and we really enjoyed it
Sushi was good and the dumplings were alright. If you want a thicker/more filling protein Id go with the original "Sato Ramen" or its spicy variant since they come with more meat and an egg to boot! What I got this time was the butter noodles and crab which for its higher price I felt like there was less there compared to the cheaper "Sato ramen" option.
I had excellent pork belly ramen. This was a great eating experience.
As most restaurants are cutting back on amenities...so too is Sato. Your soy sauce is brought out in packets and the sea salt on the edamame is just table salt...overall the food is very good.
Someone recently posted to the r/Buffalo subreddit saying they were moving from California to Buffalo and were looking for ways in which the two places compare/contrast…As someone who lived in both, I gave him some honest comparisons—the Pacific Ocean vs Lake Erie, places like Yosemite & Sequoia & Joshua Tree vs places like Niagara Falls & the Adirondacks…For food, I said it’s a bit of a tossup—that there’s food in Buffalo you can’t find in comparable quality in California. Wings and pizza are a couple obvious examples. On the same token, there’s food in California that you can’t find in comparable quality in Buffalo… Latin and Asian foods being prime examples. My comment was immediately flooded with replies asking my opinion of SATO and how it compares….I was ashamed to admit I’d never been here. That has now changed and I’m happy to report SATO lives up to the hype. The spicy miso ramen is on par with some of the best gourmet ramen I tried in Los Angeles. The gyoza is a little oily, but delicious. All the sushi I tried was great.Very happy to have discovered this gem.
Super friendly and fast service, delicious and creative sushi (large omakase plateat extremely reasonable prices. Miso caramel donuts served steaming hot was a perfect crispy treat to end the meal. Very lucky to have a welcoming, bustling place like Sato in the neighborhood. Sit at the bar if you can. Have a lavender lemonade always.
a little bit expensive…Ramen was too salty.
I always want Ramen and Sato Ramen is my go-to. There are many choices on the menu and I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen. Its so good. Excellent food and friendly service!
The Ramune brought the fun, the pork dumplings were on point and I enjoyed the Tonkatsu and Karage... hope I spelled things correctly. The price was great too!
Waited about 20 minutes for appetizers then when we were done another 30 minutes for main course to come out after ordering and another 30 minutes after we were done with the main course for the dessert and check. Had 3 anxious kids with me that were getting very antsy after being there for over 2 hours. Very understaffed. Totally ruined the experience. Spent 167 bucks for a bad time.. Creme Brule tasted like mashed peas, didnt like the gyoza , which is one of my favorites anywhere else....the other food was ok or pretty good. Never going back. Not worth it.
DoorDash never alerted me that my order was ready. When I called to check I was told it had been ready for an hour. Sato graciously remade my food since it was cold due to DoorDash’s mistake. The food was delicious AND warm.
Sato is one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo, especially the Elmwood location. Their ramen is very delicious and filling. The noodles taste super fresh! The atmosphere is great and its the perfect dinner spot.
They Gave me shrimp instead of lobster. There kidd menu is dine in only. Website is user friendly. Hosts has an attitude and not very friendly. There was alot of people waiting on take out, the Hosts is ot knowledge enough to be up front.
Tried the miso ramen, shitake mushroom and miso donuts. Everything was delicious!
Picked up dinner for four, got home one persons meal missing. Three people love their food and one is hungry. Usually 4.5 here, today 1.8 stars.
Great service and delicious ramen in this neighborhood. The server split our Ramen in two bowls because we wanted to share. Thats very thoughtful. We ordered Sato Ramen with seaweed salad and kimchi but I would also recommend trying Tonkotsu ramen.
Great sushi. Our server was incredible. So well spoken and personable. We often go to Sato Brewpub and this is our first time at Sato. We have an excellent time. I highly recommend
My food was good, but the server didnt listen to anything I said during my order 🤦🏾♀️. 1/3 of the items I ordered were wrong. I overheard her make the same mistakes at the next table over too. Its a bit frustrating. Also there was a weird vibe from the staff when I walked in. They all just stared at me and reluctantly/awkwardly seated me, which was SUPER weird. Not sure why this happened. I dont think Ill be back next time Im in town.
Honestly this place was absolutely amazing. The sushi and ramen here is delicious with a wide variety of different sushi options to keep you coming back for something new. The service was also excellent and Id recommend anyone looking to go out for a nice dinner or with a sushi craving to stop by. Ah also the seaweed salad is the best Ive had.
I am from NJ visiting my daughter. She highly recommended Sato and I was not disappointed! This will definitely be on my list every time I visit
Food and drink were absolutely fantastic! Knocked a star off though as we got here right on opening and the environment was very dirty. Large chunks of food on the floor from the night before, mold growing beneath the hand dryer in the bathroom and a vent that had so much lint on it from lack of cleaning it was visible from across the room! I hope they get that straightened out as everything else was spectacular
Ordered take up. Food is a little bit over priced , plus they didn’t give me any Utensils, foods were very normal taste, nothing special. Sashimi should be 6 pieces they gave me 5p, miso soup ramen tastes like they used over night ramen which disgusted me, and one last thing “ bibimbap”, couldn’t finish cuz it smells like vomit🤮 ans costs $16.99, holy bibimbap, luckily I visited this neighborhood for 1 day only and no need to come back to this restaurant.
Our server was awesome. I wish I had gotten her name. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The salmon teriyaki roll tasted so fresh. The Ramen was delicious and I now have a new respect for Sake. Lemon Ginger I think 🤔
Went with a buddy for a early dinner during Porchfest and though the wait took a bit, the meal itself was delicious. I had the Sato Ramen ($14which was flavorful and satisfying. My friend ordered pork dumplings for the table and the salmon teriyaki roll which he really enjoyed and even contemplated ordering a second one. The dumplings were good too. The staff were friendly and professional and once we ordered our food came out very quickly which was nice.
Not a good place. I ordered takeout and they gave me small portions. The portions were too small and was not even cooked properly. The sushi was poorly made. Highly dont recommend. The workers were busy taken shots instead focusing on there work. I aslo wait more then 1 hour for a small order.
Went here for my birthday.Their Ramen was great, but the highlight of the night was their dessert.Their Black Seseme Ice cream.Unique flavor that leaves a stellar aftertaste.Definitely will visit again.
Lovely Asian fusion restaurant really enjoyed the sake flight. Spicy ramen miso was excellent
Sato is heavenly!!! Staff is so nice and friendly and their ramen is to die for!!! Sushi is delicious... literally every single thing Ive ordered has been scrumptious!!! Its one of my favorite places in Buffalo, I have SATO cravings if even two weeks go by without it!!!
Great food and service. Not too crowded and taking all necessary precautions.
The sushi rolls are flavorful and well presented, however, the wait time for the food was more than 1 hour and when I came to pick up at the window, it was a while before any of the 4 people behind the bar there acknowledged me. It was a bit strange as they have signs not to knock but it might be helpful! Overall, I recommend the Teriyaki roll and California roll (added crunchesas they were the best.
Exceptional service, Im usually a quick eater, so I generally live with some places giving me the check while Im eating. But I appreciated the server waited for me to ask.I didnt converse much with them. But as I overheard, they were very knowledgeable, polite and patient. It had been a while since I visited last. And after this experience Id come back sooner for sure. Also the food was good, my sashimi was fresh and my rice bowl (not pictured..hey I was hungry mmkay? Was more than I bargained for.Hope this helps.
Definitely the best ramen in WNY, and their cocktails arent bad either. Right now during the pandemic the tables are 6+ feet apart and all employees are masked. Felt safe while enjoying my meal.
Absolutely phenomenal! Pork dumplings and shrimp tempora roll. Then the donuts for deserts were omg!!! I will be back!!!
1st time here and my last, First let me start by saying when I walked in with my guest we were not greeted and had to wait till the guy was done swearing at the computer. Finally sat down the tap water was ok. The sushi was amazing the ramen not so good I hated all of it . My noodles were hard at the bottom of my bowl, my bean sprouts were old and brown. My eggs were undercooked and the green stuff tasted like sock water.
Absolutely amazing food Extremely happy , just a Fyi each SATO has a different menu
The food here was good. The price seemed high for the atmosphere of the place. Parking was fairly difficult to find despite it being a Tuesday night. When you walk in the restaurant there is one table and a bar and then you have to walk up about 7 stairs to get to the main dining area. Perhaps call ahead to see if that table is free if you are with someone who cannot go up stairs. The main dining area was small for the number of tables there. They brought 2/4 meals to us and then brought the other 2 a good 5+ minutes later. In my opinion a tables food should come out at the same time. This led to my hungry friend waiting for our food to come while his food gets cold in front of him (on his birthday).
Four of us ate here, partly because my friend and I dont often get the chance to eat Japanese food and partly because our friends had had it recommended to them for its excellent gluten-free provision. Our experience was entirely positive. Our friends both had a fine bowl of ramen each while my friend and I enjoyed starters (lovely thinly-sliced squid for mefollowed by mains (a large selection of fresh, delicious sashimi for me, a similar platter of sushi for her). Absolutely great. The staff were also very good. We had a nice young woman who was friendly and helpful (especially with my gluten-free requirements, about which she was knowledgeable).
We went here for a early dinner and had a great time. Rachel our server was great and took amazing care of us. I had two different rolls of sushi both were delicious my girlfriend had the ramen which she loved. We will definitely be back!
Taste is great. Ramen should not be put to much salt is better.
Went for the restaurant week menu. Absolutely amazing. Ramen was on point. The matcha creme brulee was so good. The sake flight was delicious, the waiter recommend a dry sake flight.
Great location in Elmwood village in downtown Buffalo. Very fresh/trendy inside. Food was great, presentation was really well done. Wait staff was nice. Prices were actually pretty fair for a downtown upscale place. Metered parking unless you find a spot down a side street.
One of my top 5 favorite places to eat in Buffalo. Great for a dinner with friends, date night or grab and go when youre sick. Lovely atmosphere in the Elmwood location. I also love the Main street location close to UB South Campus.
Sato on Elmwood and Main are both impressive. I have to admit I frequent the one on Main St more often because it’s cozy and closer to where I am but I was pleasantly surprised when I went to the Elmwood location. You’ll never be disappointed with the food but I liked the variety of drinks at this location.
Two locations in Buffalo, with more to come. This one has great atmosphere. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Buffalo. We split an order of the Kara-Age Chicken ($9.50as an appetizer - Japanese-style fried free-range chicken thighs, with namasu-pickled daikon and carrot, and QP mayo aioli. Delicious! For our main course, a dinner partner and I had the regular size Spicy Miso Ramen ($12.99 each- Stock – pork and chicken...Tare Base - spicy miso mixture..Topping - chashu pork, bean sprouts, corn, green onions, and soft boiled egg. Another dinner companion had the Sato Ramen ($12.99- Stock –pork and chicken...Tare Base – pork infused soy...Topping - chashu pork, bean sprouts, green onions, menma (bamboo shoots), pickled ginger, and soft boiled egg. We all loved our dishes.
