祥雲龍吟 RyuGin Taipei - Authentic Japanese restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan
Was a great experience I never had in Taiwan, favourite course. Love smoke eel with skin, love caviar shrimps, love hot broth soup with fish, love natural umami. All in one and it was so delicious. Thanks chefs and great hospitality.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Excellent food quality and service level. No matter tea pairing or wine pairing, it goes without saying that it match the food flavor so well... You can tell the chefs dedication on local food material so profound that every dish served all have their uniqueness and outstanding food flavor. In sum, I shall come back again...
good dining experience
Every dish is very delicate and delicious. The atmosphere here is very good and the service is also great.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times in the past. We were entertaining guests this time so I did not snap any photos of the meal. The food as always has been A+ !!! Were were a bit late (30 minutesbecause I wrote down the wrong time in my calendar (doh !). But the restaurant was very gracious about the whole thing...(thank you). I look forward to going again soon...my wife and I love this restaurant for a quiet date night.--We went to the restaurant again for our anniversary. What a fantastic experience AGAIN ! : Its become our tradition for our anniversaries. Thanks Michael for the wonderful time. We look forward to dining there again soon.
Fantastic dinner.
Fine Japanese dining experience. You won’t regret!
10/10 true michelin 2 stars. Every peny is well spent.
Well deserves its 2-star Michelin recognition. Food are both interesting and delicious, and the service is impeccable. Be sure to try the wine pairing and its Alishan coffee pudding, you would love them.
Fantastic experience overall. 💯 One of the only fine dining restaurants I’ve been to lately I’d actually be happy to revisit. Each course was beautifully executed and most were memorable. The service is definitely the best I’ve experienced here in Taiwan. From the courteous greeting to attentive service to utmost graciousness that really went above and beyond what I expected...I have only nice things to say about this place. The interiors are understated but chic and offered a very relaxing ambience. Will definitely be revisiting.
Decent experience, each dish lived up to its hype, however, the menu I had was a little repetitive in ingredients. The experience + quality of foods, still very good overall!
Nothing you can pick on but pig on everything they delivered to your table. Excellent food, services and ambience
Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing atmosphere, everything here is simply amazing. Careful on the alcohol!
In the terms of the CP ratio, it’s not worth a visit...way too much overpricedIf it’s half the price then I’ll visit again. They do have the best service, interior design, location(without parking space),online booking system. However they never answer the phone(actually they don’t need to provide phone number here cauz I have called 50times and no one ever answer...it’s useless and waste of time!!!)Finally the food (fine dining styleis nice if it’s half of the price. However I only feel it’s so fresh without any great cooking technique inside)The tea is good too but I can make the same one with only 1/8 original price.
First off want to give props to our waiter Michael Wang, glad we had him as our server. The service he provided was impeccable. This meal definitely goes as one of the top meals I’ve ever had in my life. We elected for the short 8 course (which is fillingand the tea pairing. Every dish was simply amazing with the tea pairings. The only small negative I would have to say about the meal is the noise level at the restaurant. I’ve been to several similar restaurants in Tokyo and they would require a certain level of privacy and noise level so those who would like to enjoy their meals can do so.Would definitely want to go again as our waiter mentioned that they can customize your experience differently every time.Just FYI for those interested in price, the meal was 12,980 NTD for 2 short course meals, tea pairing, water and a glass of champagne.
A brilliant and amazing dining experience.
Seafood is very fresh and delicious.
Most amazing restaurant in Taipei. The ingredients and the service are top notch. It is truly the best gourmet experience in town. Food is delicious beyond words and wine Pairing is impeccable.
Tasting menu with saké pairing was excellent.
Food was good. I wouldnt do the wine/sale pairing again though. Its expensive and not worth the money, primarily because you dont get a full serving of wine/sake, and its expected that the serving will last you about 2 courses.A better option would be to order a full bottle of sake - they have good colabs with sake breweries in Japan.
Whenever I think about omakase, I always think about sitting in front of the chef while he prepares your food at the bar counter, being able to see them hard at work to prepare that delicious meal for you. Well, I was treated to a different kinda omakase in RyuGin, theres no bar counter, instead you get proper table sitting. I was a bit disappointed initially considering I wanted to watch how they prepared our food. However, each course that came out blew my mind. All the food are sourced locally from Taiwan, yet some of the seafood they brought to our table was better than the ones weve eaten in Japan. Were told that the menu changes according to season (rarely that different considering the climate in Taiwan doesnt vary muchand what they are able to find in the local market, thats what we get to eat. The menu differs 3 times a year.Service was great, the servers were attentive, they even made us a special dessert for our anniversary on top of our dessert course and our sommelier was well versed in his knowledge of not only wines, but sake alike. I must say, anywhere you go in Taiwan, you get treated with great hospitality. Its something I truly enjoy about Taiwan, their people. At RyuGin, I would recommend to try their own sake, we were skeptical at first, but weve never tasted sake that was so smooth, so polished yet, had a good kick to it. So good that we ordered another flask on top of our wine and sale mixed pairing.
Excellent, first time to a two start Michelin restaurant, you can definitely feel the difference between a one star and a two star. The service, food and atmosphere were all impeccable. We had set dinner with sake pairing that allowed tasting of six(?different types of famous Juyondai. The set menu used mostly ingredients sourced locally here in Taiwan and are changed every 2.5 to 3 months.
Love here and s services are excellent. Chef is the kind person. Their team are great on every ingredients!
Love this restaurant! Highlight dish is local fish with pickled cabbage. Can’t wait for my next experience here.
A very premium Michelin 2 stars meal. The cooking techniques particularly lie in the touches putting into making simple food outstanding. One of the highlight was definitely the rice.Every single dish was a pc of art and combing together it’s a harmonious symphony. It could be pricey from certain perspectives but it’s totally worthy to have such chance to enjoy the delicacies and the services along the time.
If you think youve had a great meal you are probably wrong. The food here was only surpassed by the service. A selection of chalices (no liefor my sake. The sommelier is so knowledgeable about wines/sakes Ive never heard of and provided amazing recommendations throughout the meal. Really cannot recommend this place enough. As far as caliber of restaurants, and general dining experience it ranks right next to Gaggan (BKKand Pujol (MEX). One of the best in the world and very deserving of the Michelin stars
The best
One of the best dining experiences I had in Taipei… worth to pay a premium for
One of mu best fining experience in Taipei. Definitely a notch better than its sister restaurant in Hong Kong.
Fabulous food!! Very high quality ingredient, service and cooking skill!
Good food, service. Excellent experience.
Quite possibly the best meal I have ever had in Taipei. Not only was the food amazing, especially the squab and eel, but the service was impeccable. Halfway through my meal I was already contemplating my next visit. The tea pairing is also unique and highly recommended.
This place wins Michelin stars for one reason: it is simply flawless. It is not conventional Japanese as you would’ve expected but actually fusionised cuisine with local fresh ingredients. The sommeliers had was very professional and every bottle recommended was spot on. I was so impressed with every single dish I had. Dishes are presented like art and taste totally delicious. I have to say this is the most impressive dinner I have had in Taipei city. Wonderful dining experience at its best for sure!
Decent but feels theres inconsistency in their dishes, some just lack the finesse. For NTD6k per pax, and of such high reputation, I was expecting more
I believe they change their menu from time to time, but they will always have a long list of Japanese sake! There was a zen atmosphere to the restaurant and the waiters were nice enough to explain the menu to me in English.
Delicious food, perfect service. Great wine and sake selection.
Great quality food by using local ingredient.
Very nice place, not expensive compare to its standard
Unforgettable taste, love almost every dish especially the pink tea, so tasty
I dined at Ryugin Taipei on 12/19/2017. My entire party was shocked at how lackluster the food was for the price they charged. We were so terribly disappointed because we really looked forward to dining here. What can I say? I guess their PR team did a great job. If you want to splurge on Japanese food, I suggest going to one of Taipei’s many outstanding sushi/Kaiseki restaurants. There, you will more likely leave satisfied. We ordered the full menu (11 dishesthat amounted to about $7,000NT per person excluding drinks. After all, this restaurant was hyped up to be a branch of the 3 Michelin star restaurant in Tokyo. We were ready to spend the money, but the value that we received was laughable. The dinner course only included Taiwanese produce as the chef wants to show the beauty of local ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, I love Taiwanese food, but if you’re charging such a steep amount, you better be serving impressive ingredients. Multiple dishes featured clams, which you can get a bagful of at the local fish market for about $80-100NT. Then there was a dish that featured little silver fish. My mom grew up really poor in the countryside of central Taiwan, and she used to survive on porridge with little silver fish because that’s all her family could afford. Again, another very cheap ingredient. 2 more dishes of ordinary cooked fish, and one dish that two of us could not swallow - beef (we substituted tongue for filetwith a very funky tasting herb called Magau. The beef was SOUR (the waiter explained that it was because the beef was dry-agedand the herb was quite nauseating. One of my girl friends was able to finish the dish, but agreed that the flavor wasn’t for everyone. Next, the squab. It was served with one of the pieces still attached to the bird’s claw... I could not bear to pick it up by the shin bones and eat it like a lollipop. This ruined my appetite. It was my oversight for not letting the restaurant know that I don’t like squab, but I really wasn’t expecting squab at a fine-dining Japanese restaurant. Then again, I felt that none of the dishes served at Ryugin Taipei were at all Japanese. Maybe besides the steamed abalone with sea urchin sauce, and the single sashimi dish. All in all, I applaud the chef’s love of Taiwanese produce and flavors. Unfortunately, his creativity does not translate well.
Amazing food
I will visit againLovely night 🍶
Amazing presentation. Best Japanese restaurant in town! Cant describe in words only taste buds can understand!
Awesome foods and wines pairing, a delight dinner full of joy and flavor surprise!
If theres a truth to the saying "You get what you pay for", this is it! No, it isnt cheap but really good food never is. Definitely a must go for food connoisseurs!
Very good quality restaurant. Excellent !!!!!
A wonderful Japanese restaurant at the heart of Taipei
Fall 2016 september tasting menu with sake pairing
