Former presidential house with exhibits on Rwandan history & debris from a noted plane crash.
Its formerly a presidential library and was later renamed Rwanda Art Museum. Two Rwandan Presidents lived there and majority of the artefacts are still preserved.Theres an entrance fee I cant remember, shoes and camera are not allowed in the museum. Its very clean so you have nothing to worry about.Collections from different Rwandan artists are on display there, as at my visit the theme of the Collections were art that symbolises Peace.
The history about the former president was interesting. I do recommend it as a place to visit
Interesting place with a very unique architectural style - but mostly something for art loversMany pictures and creations of rwandan artists, often abstract, but no written interpretation and the guide couldnt always helpBut not a lot of information about the history of the house, wasting some potential in my opinionTo visit the site of the airplane crash you have to pay extra (10k - which seems way to high)At least the gardens are included in the price for the museum, giving a little more insights
Good Art Museum for Tourist...
This museum is fairly new, but theres still a lot to see and learn. Were not allowed to take photos inside so youll have to go and enjoy it yourself.
A must visit in KigaliGreat collection 🥰😎
Rwanda historic arts museum.Best place for artists and non artists
Nice to see former Presidents house, especially the secret passage and remnants of plane crash
It is a nice place to visit. Territory is quite big as it is an old house of the ex president. The airplane peaces are right near his house where the crash took place.Incide the museum there are two floors with several paintings in each room.Grade around is really nice.

Very calm and quiet. I went there to play tennis but I ended up looking around. Its a beautiful place
Well kept place and a history vile
Best art work and Museum history tour.
I last visited this Museum when I was still in High School and I had a great time learning about the history of our country. I would definitely go back
Good service
The property used to be the residence of two former presidents hence formerly known as the presidential palace which gave insight to the way the presidents lived. There are two areas that can be visited the main building itself which houses artworks from mainly after the genocide. Some addressing the genocide, others about other subjects like traditional life in rwanda. The second part is the display of the remains of the plane of the rwandan president Juvénal Habyarimana that was shot down in April 1994.You are not allowed to take pictures inside of the building but outside and in the gardens. Visiting both sections as an international visitor cost 10000 rwf as of April 2021However thanks Judith.M.M my guide I am now fully informed about the rwandan museum discounts that offers you a 30% off if you are going to visit all museums and you pay at once.
The name changed it was the former presidential museum, now has very good crafts
Photos taking inside not allowed so I wasnt good even wreckage aeroplane no photos allowed so its boring on one side
The place has historical things
The place opened my eyes to art in Rwanda. This visit and the guidance and explanations of the tour guide made the place come alive, I felt sad, happy, scared and joy all just by immersing my self in the stories told by the arts. Please ask about the art depicting the story of Mugarura, Enjoy :-. FYI, check the pic with announcements, one in particular, you have to remove your shoes before going inside the house.
Price is affordable and parking available. Kids can access the facility free of charge for drawing. Their drawings are sprayed in a hall reserved for that.
It was beautiful.Rwanda history is spectacular and it shows in the art and culture of the people.I would love to visit again.
The museum has a collection of Rwandan Contemporary Art with theme "Art for Peace" which is a reflection of the artists contribution to the reconciliation of Rwandans.
Disappointing to find that they have removed all the furnitures of the former president and stopped explaining the history of the former presidents life in the house, other than the plane remains. The art exhibited is great, but as presidential palace museum it was even greater.
Interesting place...but not for 10k Francs per head. Memorial Museum is way more interesting in terms of history telling ....
If your taste is arts, the place will be recommended. Nonetheless a visit with the intent to explore the presidential palace, be advised it is no longer. Price is affordable and parking available. Kids can access the facility free of charge for drawing. Their drawings are sprayed in a hall reserved for that.
They good games for children, few for grown ups and on fair price, nice weeding venue
A former Presidential palace converted to a Museum. Have a feel of a palace while learning the history of Rwanda with arts contributed from all across Africa.
If you what to know more about history and how different artists express their own views just visit you Will have fun
It tells a story of a nation who ensured their history is preserved to help chart the course of a new and peaceful tomorrow. Its a place worth visiting.
Commonly called the presidential palace museum, its the former residence of two presidents of Rwanda. Full of information, you get a guided tour with explanation of Habyarimana (president of Rwanda 1973-1994familys lifestyle, their belongings, their pets which included a 9m snake, the visit of the pope in 1990, official meetings that were being held at the residence,....
A good museum for Rwandan art
Its a real historical place and also a gallery full of lovely art pieces that you would wanna look at
Excellent place for complementing personal historical and cultural knowledge of Rwanda; and a good learning place for immediate post independence Africas leadership styles.
The place is so rich in information on the genocide. It gives artistic expression that is unique n emphasis the need for love, unity, forgiveness n reconciliation. Loved the fact that no photography is allowed in the presidential palace n to get in one has to remove their shoes, the place is sparkling clean, the staff are wow n give the place its real meaning. U havent been there? Please make plans to pay them a visit, u wont regret u did.
If you want to go there by motortaxi tell the driver to go to the President palace otherwise he is not going to find it. The tourguids are very friendly and explain the objects very good.
For the love of memory and country history - then a place to visit. Need to book in advance to ensure he guide is available.
Its establishment early this year set a mark into more unveiling the power there is in Rwandan Visual Artistry. A wide space, for creation for local Artists. Quite a unique venue worth a visit
Wonderful experience. The place has been renamed to Rwanda Art Museum
The tour guide was knowledgeable and interactive, extensively explained the artwork and residence.need for signage in the rooms
The place has been turned into an Arts museum. The tour guides know their stuff and will explain the meaning and theme of each piece of Art.The Crown birds sanctuary is a must see.Sadly the remains of the crashed Presidential plane reminds one of Rwandas dark day. The beginning of the genocide.
Lovely place with a lot of learning for those new to the country. The staff within are familiar with all information pertaining the place. Learnt all of things that I never knew
If you want to know how Rwanda Genocide against Tutsi started. This is a good place to visit and know the History behind this place
We received an informative tour with a nice guide. The house is pretty nice. They are currently converting it to an art gallery.
Great place ,got to learn a lot about Rwandas history from this one place. The guide was patient and answered all our questions.
Good place to visit, if you are interested to know the history of Rwanda ,else the place is not that good. There is some interesting things is that the part of plane is kept there after the incident. Some nice birds can also be seen there. There is also entry fee of 6000 RWF for outside EAC members.
If youve ever wondered how an African presidents life feels like, then take a tour through this palace. Awesome experience through the eyes of awesome tour guides which is complimentary after you pay for a ticket.
You need to visit this place to learn more in details of the rwandan historyAccessible and good customer service
Its a very nice place where you can go in Kigali and know the history of 2nd Republic and Rwandan history in general.
