21-25 Harcourt St, Saint Kevin's, Dublin 1, Ireland, Dublin
Set in a redbrick Georgian townhouse, this boisterous hotel is 3 minutes' walk from a bus stop and 6 minutes' walk from Grafton Street, a prominent thoroughfare with shopping and nightlife. The airy rooms come with TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some feature 4-poster beds, fireplaces, and/or stone columns. A 4-bedroom cottage has a kitchen. Room service is available.A restaurant/bar offers a beer garden, and 23 screens showing sports. There are 2 nightclubs; 1 caters to people over 30 and features regular live music.
In March 2020 I actually wanted to visit Dublin but because of the pandemic my flights and the stay at Russel Court hotel had been canceled. During booking it had been stated that I would get the money payed back fully. But till now (nearly one year latereven after dozens of phone calls and mails I never heard any answer from the hotel nor received my money back! I believe the hotel would have been good but it is disappointing that the hotel is ignoring the guests right of receiving a cash refund in case of cancellation.
Never ever opt for a stay especially if you plan to stay with your family!I had booked three rooms with hotel and rooms were provided on different floors even after having vacant rooms on the same floor itself.Reception would manipulate information provided to you so that youre left with no option. On writing email on this issue to reservation team, they reverted by telling that I was given two suites instead of solving the issue by providing rooms on same floor. "I would rather opt to stay in a 2- star hotel or hostel rather than staying in such a suite (have a look at the pictures attached)"Lady at reception by mistake told me about hotel policy that better rooms are reserved for people staying for longer days. Further, there is a famous club in the hotel itself Diceys garden. We could see a few working women (the only better word I would think of while writing a reviewat clubs for whom rooms might be reserved all the time (There are normal people/ couples too who visit the club, but there is a dark side too- so would not suggest a good place to stay with family.Describing the rooms or their so called suites. "They Stink!", beds are broken, in bathroom commodes are placed in such a way that sitting on it in itself becomes very uncomfortable. Lift is so small that only on person with one luggage can be accomodated at once or two people without luggage. As everyone describes its noisy all the time, much more than youd expect. Breakfast is also not great!Talking about clubs: I asked at reception if I could take my booze inside the club, reception agreed, I went through security checks by 5 different people and no body had any problem, Suddenly a middle aged blonde lady on top floor shouted at me and called up another security who shouted at us and grabbed booze from our hands and threatened to kick us out. Even after explaining everything to the guy and him understanding the issue, he threw our booze - he said sorry though for doing the same. But still it was not our fault when 5 security at the club and reception had no problem with it.Hotel and its management will never agree on their faults or even try to compensate you for the mess they have around them in terms of better service or hygenic room.Though not every receptionist and security guys are not bad, infact few of them are supportive too, youll still feel threatened residing in such a place.Just a big no for anyone travelling to Dublin, especially if youre travelling with your family, its not a place to stay.Go for apartments if other hotels are booked, but not this messy place!P.S. I have a live photo of broken bed, but since the system is not allowing me to upload either the video or a gif i am unable to show it to you guys!
I was a little nervous after reading other reviews, however, it was brilliant! We stayed in room 111 on Saturday night. Yes, the nightclub was open and yes, there were lots of security staff around taking the welfare of the clubbers very seriously, however, there was very little noise in our room. And we were on the first floor! From a hotel perspective, the staff were lovely and very friendly. Our room was very grand with pillars and a fireplace in it. Everything was extremely clean, although a little tired on the decor front. And we had an excellent full Irish breakfast with continental buffet included within the room price. The hotel is in a great position for going out as it is within easy walking distance of Grafton Street and Temple Bar. Thank you for a great stay!
This place was horrible. You couldnt pay me to stay there again. I heard about the music being loud on the back side of the hotel so when I got a front-facing room, I didnt think it would be that bad.Except all I heard was loud people screaming all night outside the club.Hairdryer was from 1920 and another country, didnt do a damn thing to dry.Room was cramped and cold. Im shocked there wasnt bed bugs (tho they would have been frozen)
I booked rooms here for a birthday celebration along with a table for the night in Diceys Garden. The rooms can be a bit unusual but were fine for my purpose. Ashley, Amy and the girls at the desk were all great. Food and drinks were cheap and security were fine, perhaps as we were guests in the hotel. Breakfast staff were a bit grumpy but had a good experience overall. I have read lots of reviews on here about noise. This is Harcourt St which is where you come to party not for a restful night.
Overall staying is not very good due to the noisy from downstairs. Not much noise from other rooms , but from outside of the windows cuase there is a super popular bar at the first floor. Rooms are spacious and full of antique decoration which I really like. Location is not very convienient. A bit far from city center. Cleanliness on the bed sheet could be improved a lot. I don not think they changed the bedsheet in the room I stayed. I found all sort of things on it and also others smell. If you have a room on the otherside might be better.
The hotel is on top of a very late-going club playing techno. If you don’t want a place to crash after partying downstairs don’t go. It plays loud music till 5-6am.
The hotel is very clean. Nice rooms but there is a night club and the music is very loud. Could not get any sleep. Had to get up for work. No sleep
No basic toiletries in the bathroom. Other than that our stay was perfect. Hairdryer in the room was a nice touch. Room service was excellent. Place is clean, cosy and close to all amenities. Stayed there a second time and Ill be back 100%
Recently stayed here with my cousin. After reading some reviews we where abit reluctant on what to expect. But we enjoyed our time here! The staff were freindly. Door staff where doing there job as the entrance to the hotel also leads into the joining club. Room was big, but could maybe do with abit of tlc. Hotel Was in a great location. Abit of noise from down stairs on a night time but if you read reviews before hand you shouldnt book if you dont want noise!
The bouncers on the door are extremely rude, and turns into fort knox of an evening where they like to play 21 questions to prove your staying at the hotel. Do not sit on any of the furniture because if it breaks you will get a hefty bill when you come to check out! And Monday-Sunday the music is booming till 4-5am. The breakfast is good though, hence the 2 stars
Dont stay there please. Night club in the basement can be heard through the whole building and in the rooms. Smoke and bathroom smell through the staircase all the way into our room. Cant open the window due to the noise and it got hot at night. Breakfast was okay, but not great. Wont go there again.
Lovely Victorian type hotel the only downside was the nightclub goes on till 5.30am on a Saturday night. They even supply you with ear plugs the good side is the happy our lasts all day €2.50 any drink up to ten pm then its €4
The reviews about the noise were definitely accurate. It’s extremely loud until about 5 am. It’s a great central location to Guinness and awesome local pubs. The staff was okay nothing to rave about. The room however was way to small for two adults with three bags definitely felt cramped. They also do housekeeping at 8 am so if you’re out from a night of partying it can be inconvenient to be woken up like that. Overall wasn’t terrible but I don’t think I’d stay here again.
Where do i start. The beautiful foyer is to draw you in. We were given Room 107. The furniture was old fashioned grubby and the bathroom although it had been cleaned properly is old worn and the tiles are grubby . The bath was worn away to black. Disgusting.. we were just settling down for the evening . 6 pm. When we got a rude awakening. From 6 to 4.30am we were subjected to what i can only describe as a horrific nightmare. The nightclub speakers were directly below us. I never got any sleep at all. I asked at reception if we could be moved. The receptionist was rude and very unhelpful. The very pipes in the bathroom were shaking from the music coming through the ceiling. The Ear plugs could not deafen out that noise take my word for it. We booked 2 nights but after speaking to a local cab driver we were warned about how bad this hotel really is. Not wishing to lose another nights sleep. We packed our bags and went home. We lost the £160.00 we paid for the second night. I can honestly say in all the hotels i have stayed in all over the world Russell Court Harcourt Street will always be the worst property. If the owner would spend the night in room 107 he might like to rethink how he treats his paying guests. This dive is really only for drunks who dont care what state or noise there is. I paid alot of money for this so called hotel. I cried when i got home the disappointment of a ruined weekend that should have been a break turned out to be hell... the cleaner was probably the only one who ventured to smile at us. This property does not deserve to be 1 star in my opinion. I will not be recommending it to anyone anytime soon.

The only good thing I have to say about this place is the location. I was a able to walk to shopping areas and food. The rooms sizes are incredibly small with only one power outlet. There was crusted food on one of the beds when we arrived. Rooms were stuffy throughout the day even with windows open. Wasn’t able to get hot water for half of my stay and the other half I could not get the water to go cooler. The breakfast was not the most enjoyable. Wifi was okay. Incredibly noisy all night until about 4am every day. The people working at the front desk were an able to give directions or any information about the surrounding area.
Hotel was also a club. No soundproofing. No Aircon, music until 3am. Beer deliveries at 6:30. If you want to sleep this is not the place to go.If you want to party you will be fine.
The Room is nice. Unfortunately, the rooms which r not facing the roads r very noisy as they hv daily partying going on till 0230am. And the staff at the reception is not helpful and friendly. The noise insulation is not good enough in the rooms. Noises can be heard very clearly when someone passing by the common corridor. And of course, we could hear the music clearly from our room which is at the 3rd floor. And B4 we made payment, we were told tht our room is very quiet but it wasnt. In fact, we had already mentioned that we need a quite room when we made the reservation. Its not advisable for people who dont party. We are disappointed by the attitude of the staff. If she has warned us we would hv expected the noise. When we hv asked for a change of room. The staff was a bit rude.
Reception staff rude, put phone down on us before conversation had ended when asking for directions.phoned 5 times in two hours to ask for a fan. Told porter would bring it up to us. Then went to ask receptionist and was told they had no fans! Language barrier with the staff. Club very loud and even though it was Sunday almost 4am when it closed! Room floor vibrates with noise from the club. Ear plugs provided do not help. Club staff very rude, push you out of their way all of the time! Some will serve half pints others wont. Didn’t know what Brandy was?? Ordered room service. Breakfast came and was not what we ordered! Shame because the room was large and very clean. Door staff were the most helpful of the team and obviously house keeping are exceptional, it’s spotless.
The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were gorgeous. It was an older building with some quirks but very nice. Bed was a bit stiff but Im extremely picky about that. There is a night club out back so if you arent too stuck up to have a little fun you will enjoy that. Its noisy but ear plugs come with the room. The continental breakfast was incredible. It is close to several great restaurants and local pubs. There are also plenty of sites nearby and traveling by foot everywhere was easy. I would absolutely stay again.
The staff and rooms themselves are nice for the price...and location is really easy to walk to from all the sights BUT The hotel is literally ontop of a night club. We stayed 2 nights and both nights didnt sleep as the music was vibrating our room until 5 am. I wouldnt recommend this place, nor will try to come back. I asked to change rooms to the front of the hotel, but was told no.
Read some bad reviews. Stayed there as everywhere else was overpriced. Was pleasantly surprised staff very good. Room was adequate. Breakfast nicely cooked and served. Yes it was noisy from disco but used earplugs didnt here a thing. Would stay again
Loved the hotel. Only gave it 4 as some of it may need a bit updating such as the hair dryer in the bathroom.Staff were excellent and always on hand for any inquiries.Definitely coming back here next time I am in Dublin.
Worst hotel ever 2 nights on the trot no sleep because unknown to me and my wife our Hotel has a nightclub every night while 3.30am ive asked to be moved but was told they couldnt so got to put up with ear plugs shocking please dont come. The breakfast is basic and they fetch the toast a good 10 minutes before the breakfast comes so its cold if you wanted to eat at the same time as your breakfast. The shower was shocking as there isnt 1 just a shower head attached to the disgusting bath which has chips and black marks all over it .The red material on the floor which they call a carpet has iron marks all over the floor. So Dublin is fantastic but dont stay at this hell hole unless you want to walk around like a zombie all day.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and nicely decorated and we didnt find that noise disturbed our sleep. The breakfast staff, however left a lot to be desired, as we were basically ignored and then on asking for a full irish were met with a sigh in response.
rooms are not bad the only problem is the nightclub I dont mind the music its all 20 security guards they have there that are to much. cant get to my room without them thinking Im part of the students clubbing and to get to the first floor you have to pass a long line of people trying to get into the upstairs club just to much but the breakfast was lovely.
Good budget accommodation in good location. Might not be suitable for everyone due to the nightclub within the hotel being open 7 nights a week but this was part of the attraction for our group. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Dublin in future
I recommend to avoid at all cost. Impossible to sleep on a Sunday night. The nightclub music is so loud you hear it from the room as if you were in the club. The smoke from people smoking outside triggered the fire alarm in our room. We heard all the conversations from the people outside. Earplugs arent enough at all. Save yourself some sleep and book somewhere else.Such a shame as the staff is friendly and the rooms are nice.
Worst hotel that I even stayed in. The room was extremely dirty, was no soap or shower gel in the toilet and the worst part was the noise. 6 am I could hear the staff throwing empty kegs on the floor. They did that for almost 1 hour. Was so loud that I had the sensation that they were doing this inside of the room. Im definitely not coming back.
Good location, room and bed OK. However because it is next to a night club it is very difficult to sleep. Ear plugs were provided which helped a bit but I cannot recommend it if you are looking for a peaceful sleep.
Night club aside blasting music until 1 AM and later drunk people shouting on the street, so its impossible to sleep. But after we asked the staff for a solution they upgraded us to the small apartment aside - very quiet and nice - at no cost. (This happened a few years ago.)
DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SLEEP!!!There is a club inside the hotel at the ground floor and this affects all the rooms. I was on the 3rd floor and it was like I was down in the club. This went on until 4am!! Complimentary Earplugs did not do much work either and a bit uncomfortable to sleep with. Weather was hot so could not close the window as there is no air-con. No fan either. Room was lovely though and clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast was OK, nothing special.
People queuing to get into the nightclub at 4pm wasnt the best start we initially couldnt find the hotel because queue was down the streets! Very old decor in landings and bedrooms, lift wasnt working. Dont stay unless you can sleep any amount of noise
Not even worth a star. It was a night club rather than a hotel. Loud music and plenty of vibration until early morning. Asked to get a more new room but was told there weren’t any available. Rude staff. Bad breakfast. Stay away if you can
Horrible experience, avoid this hotel if you suffer from night noise. Theres a night club just under the rooms!!! They provide you with earplugs, but still, I dont think its a good idea not to give peaceful moments to people who wants to sleep after walking all around the city! Poor wifi quality. I got back home more tired than I was before!!
A lovely Georgian era hotel, very well maintained. In city centre. Walking distance to market and many pubs and other attractions. Rooms are good and huge. Club and disc also inside the hotel. Lunch served very tasty at very reasonable prices.
The room was like a sauna, I like saunas, but not to sleep in. The bed was nice, the shower was small. It was super noise at night as expected as its above a night club. The price refects this. Breakfast is included, but not worth eating.
Good location, adequate room, however the cold tap started running hot during the night. Be warned that there are 3 attached nightclubs, that play loud music until 3-4am including week nights.
Great room & €50.00 bed & breakfast was great for Dublin. €2.00 a beer was cool. Complementary ear plugs worked & tea/coffee opton in room great. Shower over bath was pleasant change from usual tiny showers & staff friendly and helpful
Loud and poor customer service. The nightclub kept us up all night, every night that we stayed. As an easygoing travelers, I figured it wouldnt bother us and I was wrong - even the complimentary couldnt help. Separately, management was very unkind. As travelers who depended on wi-fi to do things like route or confirm flights, the wi-fi was unreliable in our room and even in the main areas. When I asked for assistance I received unkind attitude and a "deal with it" response.
Good hotel perfect location. It has a nightclub and bars so is very lively and loud but with this understanding it can be a great place to stay. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were helpful and provided good information.
The room is lovely and the bed fairly comfortable. The noise from the nightclub downstairs, and the party that spills onto the streets every night, is outrageous. It goes until 4-4:30 every morning, despite the club saying they close at 2:30. My room is also filled with cigarette smoke from all the people smoking outside. Im on the 3rd floor! The smoke alarms have gone off multiple times because of the cigarette smoke, and the front desk doesnt care. This is the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We canceled our last 3 days and paid premium last minute rates elsewhere just to get away from it.
Location should win out but its extremely noisy, particularly at the front where the rickshaw cyclists constantly argued and smoked. Nightclub goers are noisy. The accommodation was grubby, not accessible even though it was confirmed to be prior to booking. Lock on door was faulty. Despite some of the staff being very friendly this was overall one of the worst hotel experiences Ive had anywhere on the planet - and have stayed in many!
This hotel was a solid 3-star until the sun went down. It sits directly on top of a nightclub that is bumping all night, every night of the week. Do NOT stay here. Ear plugs arent even enough to block the noise on the street. There were no disclaimers for this nonsense on booking sites nor from the staff when we checked in to the hotel.
Hotel was well situated and suited my purpose for a quick stay over. Room was clean, maybe in need of some updating. Dont stay here if you want an early night though as there are nightclubs all round the hotel and noise can be a big issue.
Good place to party cheap drinks.. however always take a bottle of beer as glass pints seems very diluted in their club. Not that good place to stay for couple of nights as you cant sleep till 4 am as they have once of popular night club Diceys and the music is too loud and after party crow and drunk people will keep talking in loud voice.
Very reasonably priced hotel. As per other reviews Id say the rooms can be quite noisy but we werent bothered by this. Have stayed in both the standard and deluxe rooms. Would definitely recommend for location and price, but be warned the nightclub will be loud until late
AVOID!!! Too bad theres no 0-star review, because that was the worst hotel Ive ever been to. The room looked nice but unfortunately we had to leave at 11pm to find another hotel because the nightclub was incredibly loud. Despite the earplugs, I could hear all the music from the beer garden. The hotel refunded 1 night out of 3 (while we didnt stay a single nightafter 30mn of negotiation.
Had a bad experience here. Hot in the rooms on warm days in Dublin. Ridiculously noisy and you must have the window open for any fresh air. Few amenities and outdated appliances/electrical. Unfriendly staff. Pretty good location. It seemed ok when we first arrived, but we didnt know of the vast array of nicer hotels in the area/country. We could have had a much better stay elsewhere Im sure.
