Beach-themed chain known for Baja-style fish tacos & Mexican-inspired seafood entrees.
This is a great place to eat delicious food, clean restaurant, great customer service! Their impossible burritos is very tasty.
Terrible food, even worse service.
We have visited several Rubios in our travels, but the staff here is the best weve encountered in the chain.
Amazing place! Very clean, great customer service
Three times ordered and three times no guacamole or avocado. . But I was charged for it the previous 2 times. Staff is very nice, but I even called tonight before I placed my order and again same thing! They were not going to even tell me if I had not heard an employees say they ran out to a customer in line. I had to ask if my food had guacamole!! I would have gone to Chipotle if they had been honest and said they were almost out or had run out. How can chipotle, even on their busiest days, not run out, but Rubios can not figure out how not to run out of product hours before they close? Multiple times?????
Ordered the original fish tacos and all I got was fried batter with a tiny piece of fish. Very disappointing. Will not be returning !!
Came in during lunch time around 12ish Thursday during a rush and left uneasy with my experience. Witnessed very unprofessional elder lady in the kitchen curse in Spanish aloud and belittling another guy cook clearly heard by many for not knowing how to prepare an order. Seemed like it was loud on purpose for the amusement of others. Manager didnโt seem to care and instead she participated in degrading the guy. Honestly wouldnโt doubt they verbally abuse their staff thinking itโs funny. I hope someone in a higher position talks to their employees and takes action.
Max is a real one. We went in the other day and he gave us great customer service and made sure we had everything we need. I highly recommend he get a raise or a promotion.
Slowly got pricey, but what hasnt. Good staff, good service
THEY GOT RID OF MY SALAD!! BRING BACK THE BALSAMIC GRILLED VEGGIE SALAD!!! ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐๐๐
Rubios is my favorite fast food chain ! Great quality, tortillas taste amazing ! Thanks Guys ! Staff is pretty kind.
For almost 12 bucks I felt I could have had some more ingredients in the burrito. And not rolled up properly. Only a couple of bites had a tiny amount of beer-battered fish. It was mostly coleslaw and black beans. Also, I didnt see any guacamole either. Granted, its fast food, I understand, and Ive had better luck with the blackened mahi mahi option. This time, however, the fish was dried up and the tortilla tasted like it was in the refrigerator a little too long. They did have a sign saying they were short staffed, so maybe that explains why.
Good food, great service. Nice place to get a quick bite.
Rubioโs is one of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch without having to compromise on quality. Really good Baja/coastal style Mexican food.
I was surprised at the quality of food Rubio is now giving. We ordered chicken tacos and instead got a tortilla with five very small pieces of chicken. We had been loyal customers for over a decade and now I believe we need to try Baja Fresh. Do not waste your money at this location!!!!!
Very nice staff at this location very busy but order was correct and delicious! My favorite the mango mahi mahi tacos, grilled not blackened!
Love Tuesday fish tacos they are amazing ๐ ๐
Food is generally good, and service is generally fast (except having to wait 45 min once). Unfortunately, they seem to be closed a lot.
Wow, the shrimp tacos are so delicious! The sauces are amazing, not spicy at all (I wish they were but they are still so good)
I have great memories of Rubios, including when the contractor who has built most of your stores, Larry Eddington, and his family would take his kids and a few of us college kids to the one in La Jolla when we were students at UCSD. Ive stuck to your brand and youve seemingly always returned the favor. Until Monday 10/18 that is, when I came in with my daughter from the doctors to this Rubios, her one request for the afternoon. Id recently filled out a corporate survey and had been rewarded with a meager $2 off coupon. It was a multi-use coupon with a 2022 expiration date. Apparently, this was offensive to William (the name listed on my receiptwho said that no such coupon can exist. All Rubios coupons are single use. He then took the coupon from my hand, saying he would scan it for me. When I asked to get it back he flat out refused. He essentially stole it from me. After we got our order and sat outside, I came back in to get some water and I could tell that he was very obviously talking bad about me with a co-worker then immediately disappeared into the office. I happened to have a photo of the coupon and tried it because I had forgotten to purchase a churro. It didnt exit. He had gone to the office to invalidate my coupon. How petty, how vile, how mean. Ill definitely be telling the people I know in the company about this. Not surprised that Rubios filed for bankruptcy last year. Never again. How sad that the friendly Rubios on Lake closed and the one at Paseo has terrible hours and parking. Otherwise we wouldnt be subjected to this one in Monrovia and its mean cashier, William.
Excellent healthy food. It does not make you feel lethargic but very refreshed and the food is always delicious
I used to love this place and it was the go to spot for my daughter and I. Unfortunately over the last few months they have had a huge change in staff for the worse. I used to feel at home and welcome now I feel like I am a bother to the staff. I just left there and had ordered some tacos and asked for them to be placed in a box as I always have, when they are wrapped they get mushy by the time I get home. The person who took the order looked completely confused by my request. After a wait I was told they didnt have boxes and would it be ok to wrap them individually? I asked for my money back and left and will not return unless the owner makes some changes. I dont know why they let all of the nice staff members go but they pretty much cleaned house. This was the most well managed Rubios I have been to and I have been to quite a few. Now its at the bottom of the list.
We use to always come here..at least a few times a month. We hadnt been in a while and boy were we disappointed.Fish tacos werent good.Chicken nachos were awful.Idk what happened.
Ordered pickup from their app twice this week & it reminded me both why I like this place as well as why I dont.ITEMS ORDERED:Po Boy Shrimp BurritoCalifornia Bowl w/ Cauliflower RiceSignature Beer Battered Fish BurritoBalsamic & Grilled Veggie SaladTASTE:So the food is actually pretty good here when its executed well which happens sometimes. But on the other hand like many other chains, its the inconsistencies & lack of attention to detail is where they fail.Signature Beer Battered Fish Burrito is my usual order here & this most recent one was not the best version of it. The fry on the fish seemed pretty old & also was over battered. I thought they forgot to put white sauce which is the majority of the good flavor but it was just at the bottom of the burrito. So the last few bites were the best ones.Po Boy Shrimp Burrito Im pretty sure is a newer &/or limited time item. It was actually pretty good & the flash fried ancho like shrimp brings a tasty savory/fresh flavor & texture to the burrito. Also the components were distributed among the burrito evenly. Id get this again & hope it was made this well again.California Bowl w/ Cauliflower Rice was quite a small portion & too watery. Ive made cauliflower rice myself several times & theres usually excess water after it cools that should be drained. Pretty sure it was the same issue here.Balsamic & Grilled Veggie Salad was also quite a small portion. The mixed greens seemed fresh but there really was very little of it & the pieces were way too big. Avocado portion left much to be desired as well. The lemon agave white balsamic dressing had a good sweet, tangy flavor.SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING:Service was ok both times I went this week. First visit wasnt the most friendly while the second was more welcoming. It seems like the staff pays no attention to what side you select to go with your burrito. Both times on the app I chose pinto beans as my side yet they gave me chips. The receipt on my order even stated it correctly. Such a fail. They are located in Paseo Colorado on the second level adjacent to Cold Stone. There is free 90 min parking with validation but for both these pickup orderes I just parked right out front on Colorado & used the parking app. Its like 40 cents for 15 min & also quicker just street parking for this pick up order. Rather than use the subterranean parking lot which also makes you walk further.I eat here on a sporadic basis & will probably still continue too. Especially when theres a BOGO entree offer on the app like there was this week.
William was really good manager heโs doing really good job. You deserve a raise
Had an unfortunate encounter with the worst"Team Leader" l have experienced in my life. Ray , after leaving a line of customers waiting for 7 minutes while he supposedly took a phone order. He laughed at me because I was trying to figure out which tacos I wanted when he snapped" dude, there right on the menu". Already a little upset over the previously mentioned wait. I asked him are you a manager? He was so proud to announce " I am Ray and I am a Team Leader "I explained to him while he was taking so long to do a phone order as TEAM LEADER, YOU need to LEAD your TEAM, direct someone else while youre on the phone to take orders ( as there were other employees at the counter, NONE taking orders.)Ray is VERY self impressed because of his title, however Ray, floating around the restaurant showing off your crown is NOT the way to lead a team.Me and son walked to Panda Express instead , and oh what a well oiled machine they had going there .NO SELF APPOINTED PRIMA DONNA to deal with
I placed an order online and when I arrived, the door was locked. It was 330 on a Saturday afternoon, so I was a little confused as to why this would be the case. When the girl opened the door, she was confused about who I was and after finding my order, the kitchen hadnt even started it. They said the kitchen was closed but they would figure something out. For the price, I would hope it would be their best effort. Needless to say the food I received was cold and not good. They rushed it out and because I prepaid online, I was stuck with it. I will never go back and discourage anyone from going here.
Love their 2 taco plate! We usually just get take-out.
Ray is the worst manager ever! He is rude and doesnt care about the customer. The way he treated me was unprofessional. My family and I will not return to this place.
Loving rubios during lockdown, fresh tasting fish, order from home, drive up, walk in, walk out. The bowls are super as are the salads.
Just bought dinner for me my kids and grandkids , i am so glad my grandkids love their food i tell them delicious and nutritious and thats the truth plus they have wonderful service and follow covid guidelines perfectly.
I work at a hospital & ordered lunch for my coworkers & when our food arrived via grubhub, it was missing a taco plate and my fish taco plate had flour tortillas instead of corn since Iโm gluten intolerant. I called the restaurant & I was told they were gonna refund my missing taco plate. Also our food was lukewarm upon delivery. Very disappointed. There should be somebody else double checking orders especially during peak times to make sure customers are getting their orders right.
Last night, Tuesday May 5, 2020 I waited 45 minutes for my shrimp trio meal. It was cold, no napkins no salsa. For 8 plus dollars I got ripped off!I want a refund or another meal and will talk to the manager on Friday. Unacceptable food and service.
First time at rubios and i order a California burrito was very empty very little Steak and no guacamole more tortilla then anything, and the side of guacamole was good but was just thrown on the chips kinda messy . disappointed .
Nasty Chicken tortilla soup. Should have called overdone rice soup. Hardly any chicken there was no avocado slices, there was no tortilla strips and chicken last minute cut little squares and put into the lukewarm soup.I donโt recommend this soup at all.
Love Rubios! It is quick, convenient, and tasty. A clean and great place to get seafood and omega 3s!
The cashier was very nice and friendly. The tacos was amazing. Thanks ๐
I ordered the losded nachos with chicken, only because the Cabo Plate is still off the menu. I would have preferred that, but I refuse to spend the extra money to order each item separately. Nachos were plentiful, although it was a little on the bland side. Rubios, if you are listening, BRING BACK THE CABO PLATE!!!
Two mahi mango tacos were good but small and pricey for $10 and with nothing else. Barely put a dent in my appetite.
Staff was always friendly Everytime we came in. Had something different every day and the food was always amazing. I love the salsa bar and the casual dining experience.
I was disappointed with the California bowl. There was way too much rice and not enough beans or meat. The staff was friendly, though.
First time to eat here and I must say that we were impressed with their food. Staffs are helpful and one thing I like about it its not loud even if theres people . Fairly neat place too.
Love the burritos and also the salads and its good they also have beer one doesnt hurt to go with the food. Also a friendly place
Love their crispy fish tacos. Beats Baja Fresh in comparison. Better tasting corn tortillas.
Langastino Lobster. I may spell it wrong, but love when its in season. They also have great lemonade, its separate than whats in the drinks machine. The seafood burritos are all good. The cilantro rice tastes better than the usual Spanish rice. I also prefer the black beans.
Rubios hits the spot every time. Fish Tacos are sooo delicious!! && Fresh chips and loaded salsa bar. Tasty flavored tea && cold beer. I love rubios!! I have been a regular at tgis location back to when Venus && Christine worked here!! ๐๐
Rubios clearly stands out among all the mexican fast food chains. Food tastes fresh and delicious always. Service is very good. Salsa bar has a great selection from mild to very hot for all spice lovers.
My favorite local Mexican food . I love coming here after a long hard day of work . I order the steak asada California bowl with no beans with salsa Verde sauce. And a fish taco . the best fish batter ever its got a unique comfort taste !! For drink during the day I mix lemonade and strawberry and for dinner Ill get the house chardonnay.
Food always taste good, service is great and the salsa bar is kept fresh. The place is clean and well maintained. The only negative for me is the background music. I feel the right music adds to the experience making it more enjoyable; but you may like it. You wont go wrong if you just go for the food.
lacking flavor!the carnitas needs some help.the cashier is full of energy, bordering rude.erring on the side of just being polite will get you far!OVERALL: not bad if you in a rush!!!
