5000 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118, United States, Burien
Music venue, restaurant & bar hosting jazz & other sounds & serving a Southern-influenced menu.
The music was great,, they changed the decor tol beautiful. The waitress was great she provided a dessert menu and asked about refills. The only thing is I miss the southern menu they had before. The greens had to much vinegar but the humus plate was great.
Im giving it 5 stars because the music today was great but I paid $17 for a salad which was mostly lettuce and a cold piece of dry chicken breast which was pre-cook and brought out of the fridge. I was surprised that they didnt grill the chicken to order. People talk about how hard it is for jazz venues to survive in Seattle, but its not because no one likes jazz (jazz vinyls cost a dollar and a leg because of how popular jazz isits because jazz venues charge too much for mediocre food and beverage, ON TOP OF the ticket/cover price for the music. I went to the last night of Tulas, before they closed down years ago and remembered why I stopped going there. Not because the music wasnt good but because the food and drink were boring and overpriced. Please dont make the same mistakes they made. You can do better. I believe in you, and will be back :)
Fantastic live jazz show, great food, and good vibes from the crowd
The place is a truly Precious venue that welcomes a wonderful array of musicians. We love you Royal Room!
I visited for the music and had already eaten dinner, so I only ordered dessert. The coconut flan was quite tasty and not too sweet. The wait staff were very attentive, which was especially impressive given how busy the place was. It appears that the management has done a good job hiring enough people to share the workload. The music venue was set up nicely with plenty of small tables and booths that had a good view of the stage. The sound was balanced well, too.
Really disappointed with my experience. I waited for a server for 30 minutes and finally just went and ordered at the bar. The wine was terrible, the sound system was poor quality and poorly mixed.
Great live venue. Sat basically front row and never felt like the sound was overwhelming. The burgers were great, too
Great venue for intimate shows, friendly table service and good menu options. My first show since the start of the pandemic, very happy that it was here.
cool spot. get there a bit early for music. sitting at the bar involves a lot of kitchen sounds.
Great place for live music with great food and drinks. Bring your friends!
Great place doing great things to support local music. Atmosphere is nice and food was yummy. Service was prompt and friendly. Entertainment outstanding.
The RR, a live jazz venue, held our granddaughters piano recital. Very nice.
Not what I expected. I thought it was going to be a live band. When I was there it was more of a showcase. The performances were really good. There was a mic problem when this lady was singing. Beside that everything was nice. And it was something different for me. I enjoy experiencing different things.
Attend a special memorial service there. It has a great atmosphere. Wonderful food and service. Prices were very reasonable. I had the Cajon catfish which wonderful. Music was lively and fun. Highly recommend a visit.
A wonderful afternoon of music sponsored by the Seattle Jazz Foundation. Pianist George Cables of New York was fabulous, along with Thomas Marriott and the other Seattle musicians 🎶.
Cozy, great drinks and food venue. Every seat is a great view of the artist and band!!
Great venue. My server Bobby was the best!Nice meal, great drinks and killer music.Seriously a place to check out for live music as their variety has something for everyone
Nice little entertainment venue in Columbia City next door to the Royal Esquire club. Good size stage and dance floor with easy access to the bar.
Really glad this place survived covid! Its a teriffic outlet for the arts. Finger food durring performances less good but if thats the sacrafice for keeping the arts alive Ill take it.
The bar staff is always terrible. Unfriendly, slow, always avoiding eye contact,. Food service is also always slow, and the food is meh... Sound guy always has an excuse of why he on Facebook instead of doing sound, he has had a long day, etc. The only saving grace is the music. But see, that is not their part of the business, they bring the people and the Royal Room scare them away! Parking sometimes can be daunting.
Had a nice ambience too the place, the food was just okay. The service could have been better, but for a full night I wont complain too much! I really enjoyed the band. They did a great set. I really enjoyed being tucked away in the corner as well to munch, drink hot tea, and vibe to music. Would definitely return.
Really wonderful experience. My first time visiting a place in Seattle with live Jazz music and I was NOWHERE near disappointed!Lovely atmosphere before, during, and after the show. Despite that all the tables were filled, it was not loud at all from all the surriynding talking. Music was easily heard! Will happily visit again when I am back in the area.
I cried happy tears of joy when I found out Royal Room was reopening after covid. Great atmosphere and staff. Cozy and welcoming, best place to grab a drink and live music in the area and my go to date night place. Love this place!!!
Classy venue for seeing a performance while having a nice dinner! Table service is wonderful, food is tastey, and atmosphere is comfortable. A true gem in Columbia City, 100% recommended.
Great music venue! Beautiful interior Friendly staff. Simple, affordable meal options
Thank God the Royal Room is back. This place puts the music first, providing a springboard for up and coming local artists, as well as a top-notch venue for established, touring acts.
Good venue for music. I was surprised that its not as diverse as it used to be. Its located in Columbia City. Food and drinks are ok, nothing special and over priced. Ordered vodka soda, it was mostly soda. You can catch lots of great music groups here. I had a great time. Food is not good!
I just love this little place. The stage is more or less right on top of you; its so wonderful to be able to see and hear so well. The food is good and the service excellent. Make reservations so you can sit close!
It has all ways been my wish to visit a jazz bar in the USA ... well this lucky boy finally did it . The bar is really nice and atmospheric... decent size for live music. Good bar and really nice food. We managed to time things for a late afternoon /early evening jamming session.... open to all . The main players where children / youths ... and boy where they good. The room trio where in attendance to help things along and they sound impressive. I so wish we where hear for longer so we could visit again . So if you are local do not ignore this Jem. If you are visiting the Seattle suburb of Columbia city ... then check out whats on !
Attended a ska concert at the Royal Room, had dinner and drinks with a super fun time on the side! I had yam chips and beef stew to eat and both were the perfect fuel to dance the night away. Wait staff did an outstanding job navigating the crowd! The bar filled up fast, but everyone in attendance was friendly and polite which is a make-or-break in my opinion. All around good vibes and a great time. :)
Awesome music venue with excellent food and drinks! I had the chicken enchiladas, which was very flavorful, spicy and a large portion. I saw the In Motion Quartet this time. I am also attending the SOVA/Blue Velvet Groove show coming up. I definitely will return after that as well!
Fun evening, delish burger, Women in Jazz was great. Nice venue.
I went with friends for an awards ceremony last night and we had a great time. Nice drinks, great appetizers, nice staff. We had the yam chips, garlic wings, and hummus; all delicious. It has a nice roomy stage for live music and I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who likes nightlife and live music. It is a half-mile from the Columbia City light rail station so if you dont want to drive its an easy trip.
Great venue for music, food, drinks and gathering with friends! Centrally located in the Columbia City are of South Seattle.Parking can be a challenge, but when my friend and I met for the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin 1 we had no problems getting a free parking spot. The blackened fish tacos were quite tasty and the entertainment was well worth the 15 dollar pre-sale entry fee. I will go back for the tribute shows!
What a fun, intimate spot to listen to good music with friends! Hip spot in a diverse Seattle neighborhood. Drinks were good. If you are a fan of Manhattens, get the King. Hibiscus margarita and Double Ginger Mule were good too. We tried the Royal Burger and Mushroom Swiss burger. Both tender and tasty. Wait staff very attentive.
My favorite mixed age bar and cafe. Sadly no espresso machine. Jazz Night School has recitals and its eclectic and well worth the small cover. We all pitched in to have the piano restored....sweet!
Amazing experience and really I can say it’s all thanks to Nausicaa. Had the privilege of attending an amazing jazz show at royal room. Despite of some of the attendants being aggressive Nausicaa was able to hand the situation w tact. She definitely was a life saver for my experience here. Despite that situation the music was amazing and the food extraordinary. Highly recommend getting the wings w house sauce. Love jazz music and this was a great venue to experience a create jazz show
This is a super cool place in a Seattle neighborhood commercial area. The atmosphere is fantastic. The drinks are great and the food is delicious. Service is first rate. Came here for a jazz gig. The music was also terrific. When there is a show, make sure to purchase tickets in advance and make dinner reservations for the best seats.
Love this place. Intimate, great-sounding room, many fine perfomers and the blackened fish tacos are outstanding.
Great local Columbia City staple. They have shows practically every night of the week. Very interesting and eclectic acts and reasonable ticket prices. Food and drink and their prices are only ok. But you come here to listen to great music.
What a unique little spot! Its set up nicely so that diners can sit and dancers can dance. The Sound system is more than adequate for the space and they seem to book an eclectic mix of styles and art.The food was well prepared and served by this smoking hot server in an Operation Ivy shirt. Her smile got her tipped extra. ;-)Overall a very nice evening with good friends, good food, and good music. Ill go back willingly if the opportunity presents itself.
The Royal Room is owned and operated by musicians, and they havent managed to make a mess of it. Will miracles ever cease? Located in a beautiful brick building on the corner in Columbia City, it offers listeners a fine place to listen. I play there often, and the sound is always good. Their food is excellent, but my favorite is the Artists Special. A $5.00 special with collard greens, beans and rice. Throw in some seared catfish, and you have a good meal at an excellent price. Their bathrooms are clean, their backstage is cramped, but still functional. The payment method for the bands are unusual: they place an empty envelope on each setting and ask the patrons to contribute what they feel they can. It usually works very well for the musicians.
What a fantastic venue! I went to see my buddys brass band play here and I was so impressed. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating, regularly checking in to see how we were doing. I also loved that each table had envelopes for donations that went directly to the band.
Good drinks but super expensive. The charcuterie plate was really disappointing - three tiny pieces of cheese, gross tasting meat and the grapes were dented, soft and rotting. Seems like a cool atmosphere for a live show though.
Come here for the music, not the food or service. Food wasnt bad, just impossible to get and expensive for the quality. Burger was $18 bucks with cheese, bacon and mushrooms, $23 with a virgin drink. Best bet, get a seat at the bar and forget the table seating or eat before the show. Good as a music venue, bawls as a bar and restaurant. Poorly managed.
Had a lovely dinner here while watching a film scored and played by the mighty Wayne Horvitz Ensemble. Its a cool venue, with a lot of personality and great service. The food was exactly what was promised and the cocktails were great. Come support this awesome local venue!
Ive performed here a few times and love this venue. It is intimate, has a small bar and good food you can eat in a nice little dining area. The place isnt quiet but it should not be as they have live acts play here all the time. Great place for a lively date!
A great venue for live music, food and drinks. Ive enjoyed many great shows here over the years. Its a more subdued and low-key place to enjoy live music than some of the other more raucous venues in town.
Really good food. A number of standard Mexican dishes but done in their own style that I really like. This place always has fantastic music and dancing. Not a club, but more of a public house where people of all ages dance and eat together. Programming is diverse world, folk, rock, old time, and my favorite: an all women fully costumed Brazilian Carnival 9 piece band. Fun times here!
I love this place. Its the perfect neighborhood jazz club, but with city-wide appeal. It draws a diverse, laid-back crowd that truly reflects the surrounding neighborhood. Great live music showcasing both the best of local music and fun stuff from afar, good food, and something going on every night of the week.
