Casual dining room for a selection of Indian meals as well as lunchtime buffet specials.
Top class Indian restaurant in Basel. You will not only get the most delicious food but also love, care and excellent hospitality! The BEST!
One of the best place based on hospitality, atmosphere and the food is delicious… Me and my family were surprised in being able to taste such a tasty Indian food in Swiz, coming from London for holidays…unforgettable dinner, service and best place in Basil, highly suggest you to try it out.
Good food...touch expensive but if you want to have Indian food, then i advice you to try this place....
Good place, but plenty of scope for improvement. Friendly and welcoming owners!
“Craving for Yummy Indian Food ? This is the perfect place.”Absolutely delicious indian Food vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian. Surprisingly yummy, few dishes tastes even better than in India itself. Perfect flavour and wonderful taste along with awesome ambience and splendid hospitatlity. Couldnt ask for more. 100% recommendable.
I have been to a lot of indian restaurants in my life and I would definitely rank this one in my top 3. The service is very good and the food delicious. I love spicy food but as an European guy I dont like when its too spicy. I told Lucky (the waiterhow spicy I wanted my meal and the food arrived perfectly spicy.I strongly recommend this place
Unfortunately, I couldnt agree with most of the 5 or 4 ratings.IMHO, the quality of the food is not good enough. Taste cannot be related with Indian food taste. And unfriendly treatment, highly money motive customer dealing not focused on customer satisfaction.
I loved the owners, they were so kind and very hospitable. The food also was delicious and flavourful (butter chicken, biryani veg, and butter naan)
Delicious and very nice staff. We showed up 15 minutes before they opened, but they allowed us to sit down as we waited. The whole party agreed the meal was delicious!
Ordered vegetarian food and it was delicious. Nice place and easily accessible. Very friendly staff
Amazing food and really friendly people!!
Good food , nice service, the infrastructure could enhance
Good restaurant.Great tasteSuperb hospitalityHigh price!!
I am a frequent client to Indian Restaurant Royal Palace. Today, I had Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Naan and Daal Makni. Like always, the food was very delicious, authentic and the delivery fast. What I really appreciate is the friendliness of the owners.
Ordered Butter Chicken and Kashmiri Pulao it was disaster. Too sweet like Jaggery. 0 zero rating
Very nice owner and staff. Got a little surprise when we picked up our pre ordered meals which were fantastic! Highly recommend.
Very good 👍 food and service,i tried some other Indian restaurants in basel before and also heard about royal palace and last week i tried there with my friends and the food was very very good and fresh also the service staff is very nice and The grill meat is the best ever i eat before we ordered veg(royal shahi paneernon-veg( lamm rogan josh ,thandoori chicken ,chicken tikka masala and naan breads- butter naan and garlic was very yummy)
I really did not have a good experience. We had to wait 1 hour for our food and there were only two other tables. We did see a lot of home deliveries coming in and out. The staff disappears after your order is taken and does not ask for anything. There was one guy working with a mask on but with the nose out. Then the whole “safety” is a bit useless?Since our server did not talk to us i had to walk over to them and say that my food was to spicy (ordered not spicy). The new one i got tasted just like they added a whole load of cream. The whole spinach taste was gone. Then when we complained about the whole experience the owner came (also because they put 2 naan on the bill, we just ordered one). He started a whole discussion about that we should have seen that there were two portions (is he serious?). Then i said well the food was also not good and we waited an hour. He explained that its normal to wait long for butter chicken (ordered by my boyfriendand that he was full the day before and even though people wait long they enjoy it (not my problem or my life). Whole story about guest is king (he made me feel super uncomfortable). I asked 5 times to just leave it (he kept talking about himself). In total, very expensive, long waiting, not good experience. Please in these corona times treat your guest like you say “as kings”. Going to a restaurant should be a nice and happy and special experience!
I have to change my mind about this restaurant! Ive been a faithful guest since many years. I went for lunch 2 weeks ago and to my surprise the manager informed me, when I wanted to pay, that he no longer accepts post finance debit cards or visa post finance cards. He gave me a lecture on how much percent he has to pay on them. That was very unpleasant not to say the least. Since the covid19 situation I dont like to carry too much cash with me and pay mostly with my bank cards. In addition the portions were small not enough to fill my tummy. I will no longer go there to eat and will rather eat across the road at the other Indian restaurant where the food is excellent! Im sorry to write such a bad review but Im very disappointed!
Absolutely amazing food. Delicious Indian food which is even better compared to many restaurants in India. Simply loved it. Their hospitality is also very nice.
Unfortunately, I couldnt agree with most of the 5 or 4 ratings.IMHO, the quality of the food is not good enough. Taste cannot be related with Indian food taste. And unfriendly treatment, highly money motive customer dealing not focused on customer satisfaction.
My sister is vegetarian and also enjoyed her meals here, plenty of several vegetarian choices also. Had some beverages while we waited, wonderful ambiance here. Lovely, calm atmosphere, ideal for lunch Or dinner. Eaten here plenty of time, servers generally outstanding and no issues about the meals. Our waitress was excellent and made our lunch even more fun with his big smile and lovely attitude.
It was a great stop over and the food. Genuine Punjabi decent with great Indian recipe. Customised to local palate excellent way without loosing Indian spices magic. Will recommend everyone to Basel, must try this cozy corner near the sprawling park. Cheers to all!
Awsome tasty food. moreover the owner of this place is very caring and loving. He takes care of each guest try to talk with them understand what they want and then deliver the exact taste what they ask for
Went with a lot of expectations after reading the reviews however came back disappointed. Average food, average taste but still same Swiss prices. Tandoori Palace restaurant is sooooooo much better and authentic. Go there.
Really good quality Indian food. If you are in Basel and are looking for a good quality Indian food, this place will not disappoint you . It is right up there when it comes to best Indian Food in Basel and the price is standard Basel Price i.e. not cheap but you wont find any cheaper Indian Restaurant either serving quality food. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants Indian food in Basel.
I like the lunch buffet, three paneer was my favourite, but the quality and ambiance has room for improvement.
Being from the UK where we have a huge selection of Indian restaurants, I have struggled to find anywhere in Basel that I consider to be good Indian food. So on entering Royal Palace my expectations were not high. However, after being given a great welcome and viewing the extensive menu we ordered a Lamb Vindaloo and a chilli chicken. We were asked how hot we would like it which is always an encouraging sign. The food came and were both really pleased with it. The lamb was tender and well marinaded with the potatos soft. The chicken was again tender with a very tasty sauce. Both dishes came with rice and naan bread. Thoroughly recommended!
I am a Scientist, therefore, I was here again as my colleagues arranged lunch and dinner here. This time before Xmas eve.I am a foodie and a food blogger too. The best Vegetarian dishes are Baingan ka Bhartha; malai Kofta Kesari; Royal Shahi Paneer. They are specialzed for non-veg dishes of Chicken Tikka Masala; Murg Badami Korma; Malai Chicken Kebab; Tandoori Chicken Tikka. I savored all these. The bread (garlic Naan and Peshawari Naanare the best. Guys, please do not forget to order their Mango Lassi. They have an exclusive taste, that I could not find at other places serving Indian food. This is the best restaurant serving Indian food in Basel.I am amazed to see the Xmas decoration at the restaurant, specially the Xmas trees.I can only say that it is a place for all travelers to Basel who would like to have authentic Indian food.
Delightful evening there! The food was just amazing and the staff very friendly. A recommended address for Indian food in Basel.
My wife and I just had their lunch buffet today. It was really tasty and delicious with various possibilities to choose from - one better than the other. It is a simple and very clean restaurant, the waiters were attentive and very friendly. A nice touch that the manager/owner(? came by all of the tables to ask how things were and if we were satisfied. Convenient location. Toilets were clean and well kept. Lots of seating space, even outside if the weather is OK. Judging on the number of people coming and going it must have a good reputation. We look forward to returning in the future.
Fantastic curry. Must try. Service and food is very very good here. Iv tried lots of Indian restaurants and this is the real deal. Food is cooked fresh and is very tasty thats coming from an Indian with high standards. The chicken tikka masala is excellent.
Amazing food, service level and staff. The only restaurant in Basel meets Indian and UK food standards..Much recommend
Well as experiences go, Ill pass on this place, whats so hard about salad, and warm beer is perhaps a European thing. Salad tasted like it was recycled from a lunch or dinner from a time earlier. Ill be across the street at bayleaf,
The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The staff (from Goa and Punjabis ok, they keep staring at you while you eat your food. The food quality in all honesty is below par. I can understand that this restaurant is located in Basel and probably the competition is lower, but that doesnt mean that any quality of food will do. I had a vegetarian meal at this place. The dal was tasteless, the naan were dry, the subzi was just a mix of vegetables with no touch of class. I went there for only once and will never go there again. I have been to other Indian restaurants in Europe, and in comparison this one pales. Maybe in Basel people havent had taste of real Indian food and thats why people flock here. If you are craving for Indian food and dont know where to go, then you can go here. Otherwise this is a pathetic place in all honesty. I repeat myself: the owner is very friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately his good, affable nature does not make up for the poor quality of food.
Indian homely food even when you are in Switzerland ! Great staff and very humble owners ! And finally great food !
The best place to have Indian food in Basel. Along with the amazingly tasty dishes, the service by the host is just too gud. Never thought the first random visit to restaurant would make me a permanent customer here. I wait every evening to just be here as it makes me feel at home and have yummy Indian food which is as tasty as we get in India..kudos to the cook/hosts and the service staff. :)
my favorite Indian restaurant in Basel (actually in all of Switzerland). Its family friendly and the vegetarian menu and buffets are very good. My favorite at the moment is: vegetable kofta!Butter chicken is another favorite. All meat is of swiss origin, which is also good.
Great food! We ordered take away as it was raining and wanted a cosy night in. The food was tasty and the spice well balanced, the chicken saag and lamb curry was amazing! Glad we ordered too much and have left overs for tomorrow!
Pretty good food. Staff mostly only speaks english, which was a bit weird being in Switzerland. We had to wait quite long until our food was ready, but this might be normal for Indian food?!
Where do I start? This restaurant is the definition of impeccable. From the service to the food to the look of the restaurant this place is absolute perfection. I visited this place when it first opened 10 years ago and again this year and it still has its amazing charm and class. I can tell you with a 100% guarantee that this is the restaurant to visit in Europe.
Royal palace BaselGreat service and fantastic food! The variety of flavors was amazing. Definitely a place Id visit again. Made my trip to Switzerland so much better! Ive been to a lot of restaurants in Europe and this is by far the best one.
Excellent food and the owners are super attentive. This is my go to place when it comes to Indian food cravings. Try the lamb Vindaloo out the Roghan Jhosh. Both are delicious!!
I had such a nice experience here that it brings a smile to my face when i think of my trip to SWISS; it felt like we had the best food in the Basel. Loved their Hospitality and they were very helpful in finding me a charger to charge my phone as i had no UK to SWISS power adapter..we were offered complimentary stuff / drinks and all thanks to the management..Strongly recommend this place!!
Wonderful restaurant with awesome authentic indian food and fabulous ambience. Appreciable service and hospitality. Would surely come again. 100% recommendable.
shocked that this restaurant had a high rating - presumably prior raters were not familiar with authentic Indian food. The samosas were obviously re-fried, the papri-chat sauce did not even taste like tamarind, being so diluted with cheap ketchup. The service was very slow. All at high Swiss prices! avoid this like the plague.
This restaurant has an amazing food that has excellent texture and the taste with fresh food served. The staff members as well are friendly, the iteams displayed are wonderful and its difficult to find this kind of tasty and excellent food in Europe. We are impressed from the food served and the service provided by this resturant.
Great authentic Indian food. The prices are typical of Switzerland and the portion adequate. Service is good and the host is friendly. Location is also central.
If you want authentic Indian taste in Basel, then this is the place to go to (for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians). Good ambiance and great food.
I went there while visiting Basel. Considering the quality of the ingredients and the settings (really nothing special), the prices seemed quite insane compared to where I am from (Coming from Paris/France, where you can get better Indian food for a third of the price I paid here). I am aware that Switzerland is expensive, but still...
