Strip-mall eatery with a traditional Indian menu of Northern & Southern fare & a lunch buffet.
The customers are wonderful and the food is even better. Give it a try if u are in and around the area
We called in an order for 5 orders of samosas and they have them ready for us to pick up with sauces included.
Indian food is so good food is best this place
This is a great spot for quick and delicious food
I coming here every day for the takeout food is so good staff very nice friendly????
Food is so good goat curry
nice place, i usually go here for lunch
Great buffet! Always welcoming.
Never order from this place. They wont have what you order, wont call you to let you know, will get the rest of your order wrong, and wont refund you the one missing item. Then when you call them, theyll be rude and act as though its your fault.
I Went For The Lunch Buffet On Saturday And I Saw Roaches On The Wall And By The Food
Great Indian buffet. This place is near my work and is my go-to whenever I need a quick meal. The servers here are really friendly. I went again today and Yusuf was great! Thank you!
When I crave comfort, I treat myself goat curry 🤎💙💜💖 when I am distressed by humanity, I treat myself goat curry! Today, I had a headache so I said, "its time for goat curry." Now my headache is gone. This goat curry is my #1 source of comfort when it comes to food and it never disappoint me. Treat yourself some goat curry too!!! You deserve it!
Best Indian food Ive ever had.
Good food!! Must try this when in Syracuse
Great food! The buffet menu is amazing. The staff is super friendly and nice. Must visit.
Nice Indian food, friendly staff, reasonable price
It was a great place when started. The quality declined considerably over the last year and the price increased. Most surprising thing I find is that lunch and dinner prices are different. Even though I cant remember I ever found newer items in the dinner compared to the lunch on the same day. The people are friendly, but most of the time the place is under-staffed. Takes a lot of time to get service.
Food taste good.Make me food sick though.
I was at a two weeks conference at Syracuse University and was struggling to find food that was close by and had good food. That is until I walked into this place. My friends and I went back several times to sustain us throughout our time there. The delivery was quick when we order online. The staff was so friendly and offered amazing services. I highly recommend that you check out Royal Indian Grill anytime you are around Syracuse University. Also, the manager was so gracious to make me a cup of South Asian-style tea after a long day and did not charge me for it! I am grateful for this generosity.
First, I have to say that Syracuse is very fortunate to have many very fine ethnic restaurants to choose from, and most of the ones we have tried have been pretty good, but tonight was a quantum leap up with our meal that we ordered as a takeout. We don’t usually get vegetable samosas as they are deep fried, but after reading all of the rave reviews we decided to try and very glad we did. The garlic naan and chicken korma were all the best we have had and we are moving Royal Indian Grill to the top of our list for delicious Indian food.
A good choice if youre in the mood for Indian food. We ordered chicken tikka masala, navratan korma, dal makhani, and a couple of naans for take-out. We enjoyed all of it, and there was a decent portion of rice with each entree. The service was pretty quick, and we would go again.
Let me tell you, its a small place no India music very, nothing special about the place. But the food was great. I will be back. BYOB I brought my headphones this time. Hahaha. Still great inda food..
Always love the Royal Indian Grill. Their food is fresh, very tasty and never dried out like some buffets. I highly recommend you try it and their price is very reasonable as well.
I love this place and my husband (who doesnt normally like Indian fooddoes as well! But I would highly recommend getting take out over their buffet.
I like the butter chicken here but the last two orders i felt like some pieces of chicken was uncooked or not completely cooked. Wth.
Best goat curry. The veggie samosas are the most flavorful I have eaten anywhere. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The best deal in town is to fill a box from the buffet to go. Service is always friendly. One of our favorite places to eat.
Was visiting Syracuse and went there to eat. I was shocked when I heard the buffet price was only $8 and they said it was also halal. This was the the best meal i had for that price.
This is the best Indian we’ve had in Syracuse by far! Incredible value if you do the buffet, they even offer the deal for takeout- you can go in and fill up a box from the buffet for $13, and the portions are hefty. You cannot get better value for the money (perhaps unless you go for fast food), and the food is perfect every time.Their naan is to die for, and they’ve made it fresh and especially for us each time we’ve gone in. This is not overbearing tableside service like many of the sit-down restaurants in the area, but we’ve never minded just having to raise a hand or getting someone’s attention to help us. The staff is polite and highly responsive, and the quality of the food speaks for itself. I cannot recommend Royal Indian Grill enough, especially if you’re in search of good takeout on a college student budget.
Service could use some work, but the food is fantastic. The buffet food was very flavorful and fresh, especially for a buffet. Reasonably priced.
I ate takeout from them 3 nights in a row, their vegetarian samosas are very good (2 orders were enough to fill me upthe wait time for the food was pretty short, one thing to note is the person taking your order may be in the kitchen telling the cooks some one elses order but wont be too long.such taste so flavor
The food is really good, especially the bread.I get food from here often, but you guys can improve the service. The guy at the front, usually always the same, pays little attention to who’s coming in & out. Every time, there is a hold up even though the food is ready & waiting. This place has good potential, please pay attention to how you package the food & the customers presence a little more.
Amazing Indian food. Lots of great options and food had a lot of flavor. My friend was knocked out because he got spicy and didnt know Indian spice is not to be trifled with.
The Host/Waiter was EXTREMELY rude! He spoke in a condescending manner towards me as I was picking up a to go order. This behavior will not be tolerated. Please dont patronize this business.
Good hotel , buffet was worth money ….
Best Indian restaurant, hands down. You can come here for lunch, dinner or for their buffet and you won’t be disappointed. The owner is so nice and welcoming. He’s always at the door greeting you with a smile and walks around making sure that you are enjoying yourself. The waiters are always friendly. I’ve been here a million times and I’ve never had a bad experience. Visit, you won’t be disappointed.
I would give them 6 out of 5 stars. It was some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. Got two meals, one tandoori paneer Tika and one shahi paneer. Sooooo amazing, and perfect portion sizes. Also the somonsas!?!? Muahhhh so good
I went to Royal recently with my family when they moved me into Syracuse University. Everyone loved the food and the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and the prices were affordable. Definitely going to be going again soon!
I have visited with my brothers family to this restaurant at dinner. It is nice place to get best Indian cuisine food. Those whoever with me so enjoyed the meal. Also the service staff so friendly. I wish to go there again.
😍I just love the food thats on the menu of Royal Indian Grill. Been coming to Royal Indian Grill for the 3rd or 4th time and can only think of coming here when I think about having Indian food. Customer service is just excellent. Love it. Keep up the good work.
Was at upstate hospital visiting my mother and I live out of state. One of the only things I wanted was some great Indian cuisine and this place delivered! You can either dine in and order or eat at their buffet which has some great choices too. You can also get a to go box from the buffet that comes with naan bread and is a wonderful deal. Next time I am in Syracuse I’ll be stopping here again!
The food is really good!! The taste is amazing.. they have upgraded their menu.. and the service is phenomenal..The staff is attentive and quick and they give a lot of complimentary appetizers for new comers..Pls check out this place
I really fall a little bit more in love every time I eat here. Their food is so satisfying. I usually get takeout but the place itself is nice and cozy. My fav place for Indian food.
To start, this place needs to get a handle on things! They are a total embarrassment to Dosa Grill, Minar, and the new location in Camillus. I’ve dined here many times recently and what I see is TOTALLY UNDERSTAFFED, 1 person isn’t cutting it!Food is often left out for hours and hours, and it’s obvious! Nothing is replenished, and you have to continuously ask the staff to bring new stuff out, and they act like your are telling them something foreign! If you are serving a buffet, and you want to charge top$$ for it, then you need to get your act in order!I don’t know how anyone can stand to come to this location, as it’s Being totally run into the ground! Maybe the owner should frequent this place! And he will have a eye opener!
Best place for a filling meal within student budget. Very friendly customer service. I wish I could get goat more often but apparently they just gave it on Mondays. I feel its a bit congested inside at times but I love to eat outside when nice
One of the server’s behavior is consistently disappointing. Today I went in to pick up an order and told him the name the pick up was under. He asked what I ordered and starting laughing when I told him. I apparently mispronounced the dish but it was unprofessional of him to laugh at and make fun of customers. This same server has been rude to me before. During a previous visit I ordered food and he told me they don’t serve it and never have when it was something I always get. I was considering having this restaurant cater an event, but it’s not worth the poor service.
Like other reviews say, their hours are inaccurate. I walked down there in the snow one night at 8:45 because it says they close at 10. I walk in and the host informs me that they are closed. I informed him that their hours on Google say they close at 10. At this point, he refused to look or speak to me and ran to the back of the restaurant. Absolutely ridiculous service. Food is usually okay but this particular gentleman has been rude to me many times in the past. Skip this place and order/drive to Dosa, which is also in Syracuse. Its a little pricier but a lot better.
Hours online aren’t accurate. Drove about an hour from Oswego to SU Hill to eat here, online it said they were open til ten and I got there at roughly 8:15. We had to pay full price for a buffet that was already gone (they didn’t even have rice out.they brought out an order of chicken tikka to the table to make up for it and it wasn’t even the same as the tikka on the buffet. When I tried to order off the menu because I was still hungry, they looked at me like I was an idiot and informed me that the kitchen was closed (this was over an hour before it says they close on their website, and there were still tables coming in after us.I work in a restaurant so I understand on a dead Monday night you might close early, but they gotten 5 new tables in a 20 minute time span- not slow enough to close early imo. Felt terrible for the people who came in after us bc the buffet was literally empty. Nobody offered us drinks besides water or to look at a menu, which sucks bc I would have ordered a beer and a lassi and would have taken food home with me for later. Buffet food that was available was dried out and crusted over, and the tikka had a really weird sweet taste I’ve never experienced before. Overall just felt like a waste of money and a trip- It’s a really big pet peeve to leave a restaurant still hungry. Try Sahota Palace on old Liverpool road if you want good Indian food and good service! Especially for how annoying parking in the SU area, it isn’t worth it to come here. If you want to close early just change your hours to reflect that, because if I had known they were going to be closing around us I would have just stayed home. Also, I didn’t get to try the vegetable Samosas, which is super disappointing bc that’s what I was craving and drove an hour for to begin with.
The Vegetable Samosas are SO GOOD!!! The best I’ve ever tasted! The lentil soup is very different from some I’ve had from Middle Eastern restaurants before but very good and filling. Everything I’ve tried so far from this restaurant has a flavorful comfort food vibe. I definitely recommend trying this place!
We went in for Lunch on a Saturday, food was average, custard & rice pudding were awful. There are not too many vegetarian options, not a great experience. I came 2 years for dinner, food was fresh & home style. It has declined a lot since then. Will not return ever!
Very good food although the buffet selection is a bit limited. Good value and worth a stop for a quick meal. The staff is friendly and attentive. My beverage and the tables basket of Naan are never empty. Used dishes are collected promptly. I make a point of stopping here every time Im in town.
