Royal Barge Thai Cuisine in Grants Pass
Description
Privilege
Best top ramen in town! 2nd best top ramen I ever had in my whole life! We ordered Pad Kee Mow. Menu said egg noodles. Got top ramen with vegetables, chicken and egg in it. Seriously! It was actually top ramen. Both of us could even taste the seasoning packet! Never order drunken noodles here unless you seriously love top ramen and are Willing to pay $12 for it. Only good thing was the Thai Iced tea had coconut cream instead of dairy. Every Thai food joint should make it this way!
MoreHonestly was not great. First time eating here. Came just before lunch rush and wasnt busy at all, which I usually prefer as the food should be as fresh as possible and made without rushing. The rice was definitely not fresh, very dry (not crunchyand some parts were completely hardened together, seemed like it was yesterdays rice which is strange considering the extremely low cost of rice. I got the pad cashew with beef lunch special. I took a bite from the outer edge and it was warm, not super hot. I then took a bite from the center and it was so hot it burnt my tongue immediately. Kind of seems like it was microwaved to me. Im not an expert, but it just seemed like simple things were being skipped or overlooked to save a few cents and/or a few minutes of prep/cook time. Not sure why anyone would want to serve food that way. The dressing on the house salad was 100% Kens honey mustard, without a doubt. Its my favorite store bought honey mustard and I always have a bottle in the fridge, so I didnt mind that being the dressing. The only problem is it was very watered down. Again just something to save literally cents.
MoreSo good! We were visiting from it if town, we tried the yellow coconut curry, mixed vegetable stir fry and the mango tofu. Highly recommend.
MoreI have been going to the Royal Barge many years. The food has always been excellent and delicious. My favorites are the Pad Thai, Prik King, and Curry Masamen.Service and prices are good. It is located a block from Historic Downtown, Grants Pass. An after lunch visit to downtown shops and galleries are a must and within walking distance.
MoreFirst time Ive gone somewhere to eat and had it be entirely inedible. We couldnt finish any of the 3 dishes we ordered. Polite waitress, slow service, small portions, terrible food.
MoreFood here used to be consistently amazing and I would come here a lot, I used to recommend this place to a lot of people, after some time i came back here, the place was almost completely empty, I ordered the same stuff, and it came out horrible, the noodles were not that good, broccoli was uncooked and hard, no salad with my food, which I used to get with the food, now ordered separately, mushrooms are cold, crunchy, undercooked rice, tea isn’t the same, I had to ask for things like forks, spoons, soy sauce, sugar, which we all used to get after ordering without asking. I feel sick after eating.
Morewithout question, this was the most disgusting food i’ve had in my entire life. Feeling very sick as I type this 🤮 just in case I don’t make it, I have to prompty give you zero stars for your zero integrity. You bring shame to Thailand and Thai people everywhere. shame on you!
MoreNot the best food, service was decent, over priced
Great food and service was spot on. Friendly staff. Did I mention the Red Curry!! The best!! They even make it hot, medium or mild. I absolutely love their house salad dressing.
MoreInedible food, waited 40 minuted when was told only 20. Used wrong noodles for the dishes we ordered very bland. The sauces tasted like gross tap water. Doesn’t even deserve a 1 star. Waste of time and money.
MoreBeen looking for good Thai food since moving from Texas. I am so glad my granddaughter told me about this place. Awesome food!!
MoreIve been here on more than one occasion, but hadnt visited in a few years. The food was just as excellent as I remember and the service was wonderful. They are short staffed due to Covid and yet were still friendly, courteous and did theyre best to get our food out and make sure our drinks were never empty. Wonderful place, highly recommend.
MoreBest Thai Food in Grants PassThe portions are generous. The use of Thai seasonings is expert. Tuki the owner, offers consistently delicious food. Enjoy!
MoreTempura calamari was excellent. They also have a decent bowl of street noodle soup. Will be returning to try other dishes.
MorePassed here on my way to California, came with all my family ordered a few dishes Chowmein it was tasteless and super chewy. The broccoli and beef tasted like liver and super hard to chew. The quantity of food you get for the prize is so small! I would need to order 2 plates to get full. Orange chicken was okay but once again small plates. Not worth the prize would recommend to keep looking for other places to eat
MoreSo precious! Lovely souls. Always prompt and super sweet..... 😍 Went here with my wife. In a rough patch. The chicken fried rice made it all the better! Mood lighting made me feel... warm. Decorations spot on. WILL come AGAIN! Always. 😃
MoreAWESOME place! AMAZING food. Best curry in town. I love their cream-cheese wontons too. Servers are all very friendly and you get your food fast whether it be take out or dine in. Royal Barge is also family owned and local so if you care about giving your money to a good family and not funneling it into chain restaurants this is the place for you!
MoreTeriyaki chicken was dry. Though the others in our party of 5 enjoyed their meals. And it was hot inside.
MoreGood food, helpful staff, and affordable pricing. Ordered a chicken fried rice to go and had it steaming in hand within a few minutes. Slightly different than some Thai food I’ve had in the past but still delicious.
MoreExcellent food at fair prices. The servi e was promp and courteous, and the food was fast, hot and delicious! Will be eating here again soon!
MoreIncredibly tasty and awesome little family owned spot. Very authentic Thai flavors. Great service and atmosphere. I would tell you what I ordered, but I cant remember the names.
MoreWe were hopeful when we placed our order, but it took 15 minutes longer than stated, the panang was weak flavored and thin and the drunken noodles were dry and blandly I will stick with Pongsris
MoreBest tom yum soup in town. Friendly people, clean, and delicious. I also like there pa nang curry , and the glass noodles soup.
MoreNice atmosphere. I ordered fish in clay pot with glass noodles, vegetables and ginger. Pot was aluminum. There were 5 pieces of carrot and a few slivers of cabbage. It was very dry and tasteless. I inquired about why and was told thats the way they make it. I bought a side of curry sauce to make it palatable. The curry sauce was great. The dish and sauce were $19.00.
MoreAmazing food and service here, the people are also very nice. They give a great portion of food for a great price. I recommend their curry.
MoreThis is the first time I’ve had the Royal Barge. After reading several positive reviews, I ordered drunken noodles with beef among other food items: Coconut soup and salad rolls to go.I was really looking forward to the noodles because they’re one of my favorite Thai dishes. I was expecting the usual noodle dish that usually has a sauce and really good fresh vegetables, meat, etc.Once I got home about to eat, I noticed that the noodles were bland. The vegetables weren’t fresh at all and it had no flavor. Beef was dry and chewy. I ended up having to sauté everything myself in some soy sauce for some flavor. The soup had huge chunks of lemon grass and some root that was also inedible. The only good thing we’re the rolls, but even those I had a hard time with as they were falling apart with every bite. I’m sad because I wanted to try a new restaurant in town as the one I usually go to was closed. I hope It was just a one time mistake.
MoreThe food is very delicious and the staff is super friendly Ive never come here and had a bad experience, ever! Oefinitely a cool place to check out if you want something new, and authentic.
MoreThis is absolutely my favorite Thai food in Grants Pass. The Curry is fabulous! They have several types of Currys and so much more on the menu that is amazing. You should definitely stop by and try some of this great Thai food. Oh and I almost forgot their salad exceptional, the dressing is absolutely delicious!!!!
MoreThe fresh made wonton soup with shrimp was hot and delicious the cold Friday we all met for lunch. Large portions, seating big enough for a group of 10. There is parking on the street also 2 public parking lots at the corner.
MoreHANDS DOWN THE BEST......I repeat....THE BEST THAI FOOD RESTARAUNT. My partner and I travel the country and Thai food is our favorite. Royal Barge has been our favorite. No other place compares for us. The yellow curry with Tofu is to LOVE for!
MoreIt was the absolute BEST Thai food anyone in my party has ever eaten in the US, including one of us who spent a month dining in Thailand. Very, very delicious and authentic.
MoreGreat soup with fair portions (if not morewith fine chopped meat.Capable employees who will make sure your time there is worth the very fair amount of money you are charged.Great tea and drink choices.I would recommend this place if you want some good authentic thi food that will be very worth your time and money.
MoreStopping by for lunch. There was only one lady in the restaurant serving 10+ tables. As you can tell, there was almost no service. Waited for 45 minutes and had nothing on the table. The lady was like “I know you are waiting but I’m busy”. If you are operating the restaurant, you should be prepared with many customers in the restaurant. You were busy was not an excuse for me waiting almost an hour for food. Plus you should hire at least another server in this case. Sacrificing customers time because you were short on staff was not the way of running your business. Extremely unpleasant dining experience.
MoreAwesome food! Great service. Comfy cozy place
I love the clay pot with chicken, and theres plenty to share! The honey mustard dressing on the salad is delicious. And of course I always get a yummy Thai tea to drink 😋
MoreAlways a fave spot. Try vodka thai tea
Horrible, horrible, horrible!!! We have been before and have never had this bad of an experience!! The waitress had her son running around and bothering customers. We waited for a half hour to get our water and then she thought she already took our order and we had to tell her she didn’t. She took our order and 45 minutes later we had to tell her that we want it to go. Who I can only assume was the owner came out and asked if we were sure because our food was ready. We told her we were out of time and wanted our food to go. It took them another 20 minutes to bG it up and then they forgot two of our dishes and they had to cook the last dish and still forgot our pot stickers so we left. Everyone else in the restaurant had been served and was finished eating including the couple who walked in right after us. We will take our business elsewhere from now on.
MoreTerrible! Was there last night. Owner was cooking and didnt enjoy my food or her holler than now attitude when I complained.( About over all taste of BBQ chicken that had slightly burnt flavor no sweet coconut flavor at all!)Worst place to eat for price , and poor food.Waitstaff has always been wonderful and attentive! Good luck staying in business!
MoreOverpriced for the quantity. I use to eat there all the time. Went back after not going for years very disappointed in the amount of food I was given especially for the price. The taste of the food was good. I don’t know if they changed their proportions because the person I went with got a very good proportion of food where as I got not even half the size of what she did. The lemon water literally tasted like the rind of the lemon not lemon water at all. I will say they do have lovely customer service and it’s a nice environment to eat in
MoreWas terrible their card machine was down they screwed up my order and were rude. They barley spoke a word of English and then started getting irritated at me for not being able to understand their language of Thai. Barely understood when they spoke in English because of the thick accent. Didn’t get my food didn’t get decent service I’d give it a massive zero or even negative if that’s possible.
MoreI loved this place. If you enjoy Thai food this place is a must. It is non-discript on the outside and is located in the middle of a long row of restaurants, shops and bars. I had never even noticed it before and found it so Let by accident but I am so glad I did. This is my go to place for Thai food. Vegetarian and vegan offerings are available which seem to be hard to find in the city. Try it youll like it.
MoreI have never in my almost 40 years posted a review of a restaurant. I have never posted a bad review or walked out with out paying. After a 45 minute wait for a lunch special we were served food that was smothered in greasy sauce and cold, the tofu was not cooked and the flavors are out of a can. Would not be surprises to see this place on kitchen nightmares. People do not have 45 minutes to wait for a lunch that is not cooked. Lunch specials are supposed to be a dialed in menu item.
MoreMy first Thai food experience was here. Absolutely love their green curry. The waitress would always remember me and bring my drink the way I like it.
MoreI am vising Grants Pass. I have for 3 weeks tried to get ALL the other Asian Cuisine to deliver. No go! Also most were rude about it.Finally I found this place! The food was to die for!!!!The green curry and vegetables was the best thing I ever tasted! They werent delivering for the night but made an exception for me. Thank you so much!Delivery was polite also.Timely delivery.Awesome!
MoreBest food in town! There hasnt been a dish I didnt love, but the red curry is by far my favorite. Great gluten-free options and very reasonably priced.
MoreI have been going to this great restaurant for many, many years. Best Cashew Chicken in town. Also, their Prik King (spelling?), which is peanut curry with green beans and your choice of meats or no meat. Many vegetarian choices. I LOVE this place.
MoreRice was soggy taste like water and chicken was so dried out I was there for about an hour and should have known since no one came to that place there was a reason. I tossed my food as it clearly tasted very old!!! I would not recommend this place they need to step it up it tastes like a soggy microwave meal!
MoreMy wife and I eat here semi-regularly. The food and service are excellent. We are originally from the San Francisco area, now living in Grants Pass, and the food at Royal Barge is on par with many Thai restaurants down in the bay area. If you are looking for good Thai cuisine, look no further!
MoreI have always enjoyed my meals at this restaurant and my usual is the cashew chicken but I felt like trying something new today so I tried the special mango rib eye steak. It was amazing! The steak was drenched in a slightly spicy, savory. sweet mango sauce and topped with fresh mangos, carrots, green bell peppers, onions, fresh cilantro and green onions. They cooked the steak perfectly medium rare. They always serve the perfect portions and all meals come with a very tasty complimentary salad.
MoreWe chose Royal Barge for our anniversary dinner & we were awed. The decor is now a beautifully serene space with a combination of red & black. The wall adjacent to the comfy black booths is an elegant red with artistic representations of cherry blossom branches and small black & white photo images elegant in ebony black frames. The mural of the Royal Thai Barge accents the entire wall opposite, impressive.Table seating is available for large family groups or intimate diners. A black lacquer bar fronts the kitchen area which is neatly tucked behind black curtains. It is the staging area for beautifully crafted meals with palate pleasing surprises.Ignore the negative comments online, try the shrimp with red curry, or the new shrimp with peanut sauce and a variety of vegetables, both are outstanding. Sake or the Thai Spice Green Tea are excellent choices for adult tastes. Dont miss the Coconut, Green Tea, or Coconut Pineapple Ice Cream for a delicious ending to your meal.Truly a serene space, with a front of the house fountain & a exceptionally talented guitarist with soothing strum and pitch. A family business that desires to please. Authentic Thai Food. Dont miss this experience!
