1 Henderson Ave, Rottnest Island WA 6161, Australia, Kwinana
Visitor center offering in-person guidance on local tourist attractions & activities.
Loved Rottnest Island. Visitor centre friendly staff.Shame that it is becoming loved to death. Despite all of the signs to NOT feed the quokkas people still do it. It is sad to see these lovely animals scavenging food and not living in their natural habitat.Im sure at some stage the decision will be made to limit the number of visitors when something happens to the quokkas that will impact on their population.
If you want to appreciate nature this is the place to be. So peaceful with so much fun.
Quokka and beautiful sea!!
What a gem the local volunteers are on this island. A treasure to WA for sure
Nice service, friendly staff. There are also lockers on the side of the building for your luggage if you need. Theyre about $5-$12 for 12 or 24 hours.
What a beautiful part of Australia and how lucky to share this awesome moment with a friendly Quokka! Would highly recommend visiting the island but one day, was not enough. A weekend at the very least but if I could have, I would have stayed longer. Bike riding, beautiful beaches, swimming, snorkelling, sightseeing and so much more. Next time I visit, I’ll definitely be booking accommodation and take my time to soak up the environment.
First point of contact when you get off the boat. They dont have much of what you are looking for except of course information, and they have this in abundance. Stop here before exploring the island to get the low down.
We arrived at Rottnest at 9am, our room was clean and cleared from the time we got there but they wouldn’t allow us to get our room key and we had to wait with all of our luggage until 2PM and they want us checked out by 9AM while charging us $200 for the night plus extra for bed sheets, pillow cases and towels. This is a rip off and I’m very un happy with my experience here.
I never expected such a gem of an island! The Quokkas. The Variety of accommodation. The staff and customer service. The Historical Education. The ease of getting around on eBikes, Scooters, etc. But the absolute AWESOMENESS stems from the Indian Ocean herself! So much to see via snorkel and dive...LOVED IT.
💎 Yep, this is real! Pinky Beach giving the mid-week blues a whole new meaning. 💙
We bought Refreshments here, cool drinks snacks. Friendly helpful staff provide all the Information about the beautiful island and it’s dark history as a goal for Aboriginal People’s.We did a day trip from Perth so not much time to explore the island so we did the tour and visited the museum and had a swim and then a fabulous lunch, before departing back to Perth on the Fast ferry. The ferry ride was okay not too long.A must visit location, we’d regret not staying overnight. So serene.
Hired a ebike and did a easy days ride swimming 🏊♀️ all around Rottnest Island.
Main attraction wild life outside the visitor center
Amazing island great views of the river and beautiful nature can go by bike or bus get off and get on bus great bakeryon the island and many other food choices and bars a must visit if you are in Perth
Awesome Place To Visit.... ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤♥️💝💖❣️
Rotto as it’s nicknamed is truly a special place to visit if anyone come to Perth.. it’s a great experience from the ferry ride to exploring this island with so much to see along the coast and the Wildlife in particular the QUOKKAS. They are genuinely the most precious and sweetest animal there is. So Rottnest is highly recommended for anyone wanting to visit
Rottness island. You can ride a bike, catch a hop on hop off bus or catch a bus and stay on and see the whole island. You can go shopping, have something to eat or go to church. There is other things as well.
We had a wonderful day at rottnest island. Lovely scenery, clear blue waters and the cute little quokkss. Highly recommended to all who visit Perth
It was magical. Everywhere we went was a Kodak moment. The clear turquoise water makes us want to jump in and frolic like a sea lion. Except, we werent! 😆😆😆 It was a relaxing 4 nights trip for us. Staying in a self contained cabin at Caroline Thompson. It was clean, peaceful, equipped and within walking distance to the beach and town. We will try to make this a yearly trip.
Amazing place!!! Stayed recently for 2 nights and immediately booked on leaving for another stay in march!
Never been to Rottnest and was pretty disappointed when I got there. Started at the info centre and the lady that served us seemed like she didnt wanna be there. Not very friendly at all. Then we caught the bus to do island tour and it was hot as, but the driver didnt say anything about the island and didnt even have aircon going just the fan blowing warm air on a 26 degree day. So got back to where we started at 12.15 pm and just got coffee in time before they closed. Went to bakery to get something to eat and not much there either. Everything closing at 1pm. So the big hype about WA people going to Rottnest doesnt make sense cause when you get there....nothing!! Great island but its a bit expensive to go there just for a swim. I would have thought that the local business would welcome the support from visitors. Went to spend but nothing to buy. Wont go back again. Got some quokka pics though that was cool.
Yes great very helpful we will back, update we spent 5 wonderful days,4 wonderful nights on the island it was very hard to want to leave the ladies & all the volunteers made the stay even more enjoyable huge thank you to all and to the other visitors that we meet and chatted too ,was a busy island and although a lot of things werent open due maintenance or improvement road works etc ,we were able to see and do a lot a huge thank you one & all Rotto is differently a place to be
Amazing island just of the coast from Perth. We traveled from Hillarys boat Harbour on the speedy ferry. Great day out.
Friendliest bunch of ladies behind the counter, perfect introduction to the island. Plus an awesome collection of photo prints for sale!
Great service, friendly and hospitable staff. Will come back again .
Beautiful Island well worth the effort to visit this majestic place
We finally got to visit Rottnest Island! What a beautiful place to explore with picturesque beaches and views🏖 We were lucky enough to get a #quokkaselfie with the little guys 🐻 They are so adorable and friendly!
Lovely island to spend a day just take the ferry from Fremantle and go Quokka spotting
Avoid the winter as there is a lot of sea weed but I still need to go in the summer to truly experience the island.
Staff at the centre were great! They helped me find my way around, book a bike and even suggested some great spots to see. My favourite spots were the Henrietta Rocks and Little Salmon Bay. To be honest, I don’t know what I would’ve done if the didn’t help me book a bike. If you’re planning a trip to Rottnest Island make sure you stop by the visitor centre!!
We should visit the information center before star the journey at the island, they provide the information and map. Start our journey...............Meet the Quokka, my first mission to Rottnest Island is to meet the wild quokka, we are so lucky after the 1/2 hours bicycle drive, we saw this little walking around the road side..To get around the island on day trip or can stay overnight, a lot of activities, snorkeling, bicycles 🚲, ski diving....we only plan for day tour, it is a nice relaxing environment to stay a day here...
I don’t think it’s worth a visit for the price you pay, unless you love outdoors, sun and water sports.Buy your ferry tickets and ask about parking. We paid $21 for 6.5 hour parking only to find out that the sheds have full day parking for $10 per car.The ferry and admissions to Rottnest Island was roughly $65/pax for weekdays. If you are a tourist visiting, remember to take the Hello Perth maps and cut the coupon out for 15% discount. However buses was additional $20/pax without any discount, so it’s really expensive if you’re not there for specific activities and just visiting. For us, water was too cold to snorkel in end March. We were at the ferry terminal at about 9.45am and the next ferry was at 10.30am, after arriving on the island (11amand buying the bus tickets, the next bus leaves on the hour which was 12pm.Last ferry back was 4.30pm so we didn’t have much time to explore the island. But the island didn’t have much things except for the beaches and lighthouse ($9/pax entry).Really hot without shelter at the beaches, so if you have a portable tent that would be awesome.Saw many people Cycling (but if you don’t cycle often, I would recommend Cycling, take the explorer bus instead, very friendly bus captains). The island was really huge and dry, buses are timely every half an hour. They have left the island untouched. Really easy to spot Quokkas especially with trees and shades. When we drove down to Margaret River, we visited Canal Rocks which we felt was so much nicer and it was free!
Beautiful island and very cute quokka!
#Quokkaselfie. the trip towards this island was a bit though. The express vessel jad only one motor so the ferry was not that stable in the ocean. If you get sea sick quickly, choose the blues! The island itself was nice and warm! Took the hop on hop off bus tour to visit all the nice places the island has to offer. Met some very friendly tourguides who told stories about the island and the habitants. Did you know that the Rottnest island was discovered by a fellow Dutchie?? Amazing right? I had an amazing time on the island and YES the Quokkas are really cute!
Best way to explore the island is by bike (rent or bring your own): youll have more reach than simply legging it and more flexibility than taking the bus. Lots of stuff to see and go to, so definitely take at least whole day to see it through.Oh yea, apparently the locals are friendly and like to take selfies with you.
It is getting better science the last time I visit this island.
A Segway tour and then lunch with a beer at Rottnest Hotel are my top tips for Rotto!
First place you see after getting off the ferry. Theres a general store and food options nearby, and bicycle rentals on the opposite side. Quokkas can already be seen hanging around areas where food is at. Lots of seagulls and crows looking for something to eat. Great place to start exploring a wonderful island!
There is so much to see and do, and so much history to absorb on Rottnest Island - the best way to start your exploration is to pop in and speak to the friendly volunteers who are only too happy to help you on your way to exploring this fascinating place.
Loved the little Quokka’s they are so friendly & cute
The beaches here are amazing. I happened to do snorkeling at little bay beach... The temperature of the ocean is just right. Also the bus that takes you around the island is a must do.
Great place for a day trip. 5 stars..
Many people , good place ! You must visit here.
Excellent family place. Highly recommended.
Im from South Africa. Loved every second of it. The wind wasnt going to stop me.
A nice clean place. A place to have a swim is in THE BASIN, cozy and beautiful. The tour volunteers are helpful. The museum is a must to visit. Very informative.
Lovely and well organized centre. Loads of maps and directions of things to do. Helpful staff and even free phone in case you want to change your ferry ticket.
Amazing , Fantastic, Speechless Place on earth with lots of unique animals and crystal clear water surroundings the island & including salt lake on the island.. recommend to all to visit the island specially in the summer as well as in the calm winter. i love to play with the Quakka and Joe too :)
Ok. I must be honest. Quokkas were the only reason we wanted to fly to W.A in the first place. Rottnest island is NOT a cheap place to get to. Ferrys cost a lot. The food is not cheap. Take your own. The bikes are a waste of money (if you are only there for one day 30$ to borrow (at Rott Visit CentreOR in Perth 30$ to borrow & 15$ to put it on the Ferry (take your own bike from home). BUT for 20$ ticket, there is a bus on the island you can use all day. It picks you up, drops you off at any point on the whole island. On a really HOT day you will thank me.*Romantic holiday: yes. Only not on school holidays.*Family holiday: yes. Not cheap. Take your own food/drinks/bikes/tents BECAUSE you can camp.*****Now if you are there to see the Quokkas***** This is the best bit. And YES thier randomly all over the island. They are just as you see in other Selfie Pics.
White soft sand that reflects a clear blue water, clean beach and beautiful local plants. The best beaches so far..
