Asian, African and Arctic wildlife in zoo established in 1857, with oceanarium & kids' playground.
Great experience! So much to see and Im so happy I got to see the red pandas and polar bears! I dont usually get to see them in California
The zoo is very big and has a wide variety of animals. Especially the marine life collection is worth mentioning. There are very big aquariums with beautiful fishes.
Visited with my father who has limited mobility. The Staff were very helpful. As per the website info, I was able to reserve a wheel chair prior to our visit. A €50 cash deposit was required. Not many disabled spots. But managed to get a spot near the entrance luckily.Great range of animals, all seem to be well looked after. Very nice layout and plenty of facilities throughout. Only managed to see around 1/2 the park over 4 hours.Only downsides for us; It was too busy, especially with a wheelchair when trying to navigate through the Aquarium and other buildings.Too many screaming kids (but good to know lots of kids are getting the experience 🤣).The mens and disabled toilets at the main entrance were out of order and everyone had to que for the womens.€9 for parking.Would highly reccomend this Zoo 😊
Great zoo to visit. Very big and a very fun experience. I definitely recommend visiting if you have not been here before.
Worst zoo on the world. Animals are like in dungeon. I have seen plenty of zoos which have more than enough space for animals to live but here that is not the case. You dont feel like you hot away from the city and spending chill time with animals. Because there is a metro or tram going inside (abovethe zoo. That’s ridiculous. Also you hear a lot of car noises and you can see buildings around it. Very poor vegetation, it could be way more green with tall trees to cover the view outside of zoo and then maybe it would make you feel in the nature
We had a nice time. Big Zoo. Minimum of 3-4hours to see most of it.
I just love this zoo.Been there twice.Lovely spot for wander around, see variety of animals and fun .Oceanium is really good .There are also cafes inside to relax.
Very beautiful and well done zoo. Lots of different animals to see. The zoo is very well setup which makes it easy to navigate. The new red panda exhibit is stunning!
Me and my girlfriend loved this zoo! The only problem is that if you dont speak Dutch you cant properly understand whats written on the information panels about every animal you see, it could be interactive for kids and families (if you understand whats written). Were tourists from Italy and there wasnt a translation in English everywhere! The map isnt very easy to comprehend and its not very updated. If you want to see all the beautiful animals you should be able to stay there at least 4/5 h. We walked from animal to one another without a break! So if you have kids or you want to take some break during the visit you need to stay there more time. We entered at 14 and we stayed inside since 18.I loved so much seeing the red panda in action, the giraffes, the penguins and the aquarium. I recommend to see the feeding time (you can find the hours online or ask to a guide:)I gave it only 4 stars because of the lack of guides and panel with the English translation in some areas.
It was a really good experience. Everything was interesting. We gonna visit the Rotterdam zoo again soon, because one day wasnt enough to see all the zoo.
Very nice zoo! We arrived at 10:30 and left around 5pm which is perfect to see everything with a nice lunch break! The animals are active and easy to spot (when there are not too many people in front of the window). It really was an amazing day, we started with the Asian part and went to the indoor ocean part at the end to be protected from the hot sun which was perfect!
I do feel bad for the animals. However I must say the place is well maintained and has several facilities all over the zoo. Great for the little ones.
Overall the animals seem to be in well kept cages and cleaned regularly. Very large park may take a couple of hours to walk around. If u don’t get lost.
A fantastic zoo. You dont have to walk ages to get to animals. The zoo is broken up into continents. Will a few animals from each. Whats great is the various kids adventure parks that break up the experience for you and kids. And the prices to eat are reasonable. I would say quite expensive but most zoos are. The aquarium is the best bit
Its a nice place. The aquarium was really excellent 👌 and the elephant family with their little baby 🥰 you must check the red panda, very cute
A truly phenomenonal zoo. Huge, well-kept enclosures, lovely shaded pathways to walk around and absolutely massive amount of animals to see and interact with. One of the nicest zoos Ive ever been to.
I dont particularly care for zoos. But this one is really nice and very large. The animal enclosures are clean and kept nice. The animals look healthy and well taken care of and there is a lot to do here. We walked around for several hours taking our time and still only visited maybe half of the exhibits.
Superb experience. I missed some species such as sloths or koalas. There are loads of children so be prepare to deal with them ;)
Visited the park ever since the 90s. The park nevers stops improving but always shows where it all began (the old Lion enclosure as example). Had an amazing day showing my boyfriend around! Even though the super warm weather a lot of animals were visible and even active! The prices of the foods and drinks in the zoo are very reasonable and even souvenirs are at a good price! Will advice everyone to take a stop at Blijdorp when they are in the neighborhood.Still hope the Gibbons will return someday ❤️
This Zoo is incredible. Well priced, lots to see and not too crowded. Lots of nice places to sit, eat, drink and relax and a short distance from the train station!
I’m not a big fan of zoos myself but was pleasantly surprised by this one. A weekday visit during school holidays with family and it wasn’t over full. Plenty to see and do and the zoo is well laid out and you are able to get a decent view of the animals. All the big name species are there and my favourite was the polar bear. Recommended for a day out.
It was a beautiful day, a great place to spend a vacation with my son we saw all the animals it took 5 hours you have to go early because of the heat but there are a lot of food and drink stalls
This zoo is very well maintained and many types of animals are located as per their geographical location. Pretty good space for the animals too. No option of guide/toy train which makes it tough to cover all the animals in a day. Food options are available at multiple points.
Great place to visit and only walking distance from our camp site. Oceanarium was fab 👌
Large size for a city zoo. Ample parking space. Main attraction is the aquarium at the start with sea lions, sharks and fishes. Polar bears, Flamingos, Gorillas are other notable ones.
One of my most favourite zoos. Very good spaces for the animals to roam. Some areas need a little updating and some of the pool had too much algae it wasnt easy to view the animals.Great day out for the whole family.
It was a nice experience. Best part was oceanary with all the fishes, whales and other sea animals. Overall the zoo was a exciting place to be with friends and family. Best surprise was to see polar bears and penguins.
Very good experience. Perfect for a day trip. Also very engaging for the kids. There are lots of animals and most of them are easy to spot except a few such as lion or tiger. You have to make extra efforts or wait for long time for them to make appearance. However no complaints. Food is also nice.
Really enjoyed our day at the zoo. We went with our 2 year old son. It was all well taken care of for a family visit. Clear paths, plenty of small food shops. Unfortunately no halal options, but then again, there was enough vegetarian options. Will most likely visit again.
Nice place to spend half a day or more ..good cafés , carts and ice cream stands around for a pleasant summer experience..don’t expect huge No of animals as in Asian zoos ..but good enough to make your day 😃
We had a really nice time here. It took four hours to see whole place. I am very impressed.
Spend a lot of time here. Theres lot of animals and restaurants, good for family, adult, children. Amazonia was best!
First time to visit the zoo it was great experience advice for families having small kids which will need living nearby to have the annual pass because it give you a lot of discounts on the food and beverage on the parking and discounts in different places not only the zoo
Most beautiful Zoo we’ve been to !Absolutely amazing places for the animals and for the humans an exclusive day near them. You need to see it! Parking space is huge and can be used for a whole day even with a campervan. (No sleep)
Beautiful zoo, animals have nice coops. Okapis are wonderful.
Quite good zoo, they divided zoo in multiple zones like africa, america, asia and Europe. According to this only they have put animals. It have lions, tiger, panthers, elephants, snakes, butterflies, have good food, fish aquarium too. In food try chipster, and ice cream. For kids better to take strollers and it has quite good walk for them. You will get discount of 1 euro if you book ticket in advance.
Its an excellent place to visit the animals and plants. The kids will certainly enjoy here. There is a place for them to play and many cafés/restaurants, and toilets, too. The staff are very nice and helpful. The zoo is big and there is plenty of opportunities to take many pictures. The only downside is the fact that there is very few translations into English. Most of the stuff is written in Dutch so it was impossible to understand it and it was a shame not being able to find out fun facts about what I was looking at. Also watch out where you go and walk carefully. I was running like crazy and fell and hurt my knees...
What a gem of a place! I absolutely loved how well the place was organized and maintained. I didn’t have any expectations when I booked the experience, but I enjoyed it so much that I left thinking I need to come back and spend a whole day there. They have many interactive points for education, where storytelling starts based on sensors and gives an overview of the animals in that specific area. The only downside is that those are mainly in Dutch. Food courts are convenient to reach in nicely planned areas so you have to option to relax if you feel like you need it, without interfering too much in the areas specially designed for showing a particular region and the animals. The food is also diverse, from different cuisines, which was surprisingly pleasant. They really designed a journey to discover the world/ nature and try to recreate a proper experience. Definitely recommending! I went on a public holiday so quite a lot of kids running everywhere, but I still had a blast :)
Best Zoo! Spent a Sunday here and loved it. So much to see. Food options really good. Lots of walking but all flat and so worth it.
Very nice place to visit with kids, lots of animals to see. The Amazon and Savannah biomes gives the feeling of actual habitat with controlled atmosphere. Takes about 4 hours to cover the whole area.
It’s a pretty amazing zoo, but it doesn’t make sense that the polar bear is staying outside, and they were sharing the same temperature with camel… It is sad to see the bear kept wondering on the same route, like the bear was stressed and uncomfortable.
Kids will enjoy a lot. Entry price for adults -23 euro and for kids - 19 euro. Can spend full day roaming around the zoo seeing different animals, birds. Better to have a stroller for small kids but rental ones are also available at the zoo for 3 euro.
The best place to go with kids! Easy to walk around and beautiful animals!
A mist visit place with kids.. Had a fun filled day. But if you are planning to buy toys from store please don’t wait till the closing time as they close pretty early.
Its a wonderful place to spend your whole day. The best part of the zoo is the oceanium. Although it gets a little confusing at times to navigate through the place when you miss something and you wanna go back but after a while you get the hang of it. Definitely keep 5-6 hours of you wanna enjoy the place at a relaxed pace.
Worth every euro!Animals look healthy and happy. The whole place is so well manicured that you forget you are in the middle of the city and just enjoy every corner. It is very easily accessible by bus.Loads of places to eat, huge parking, strollers for children.Dont forget free map at the entrance! The place is huge.
I always love this place. Friendly staff, many animals to see, places for kids to play and relax. The best aquarium I have visited so far.
An amazing zoo. There are a lot of sections like the Asian, African, Amazonian, and an aquarium. The zoo is full of animals from different conteninets, and the zoo is really big that it needs at least 4 to 5 hours to cover all the sections and enjoy the place. Highly recommended.
Very cool zoo with a large selection of animals and very visually appealing enclosures. Animals all seem to be very happy and healthy. Will definitely be visiting here again when Im back in the area
My granddaughter and I went a few years ago. It happened to be when winter extended well into springtime. Unfortunately all the animals were not out, but those we did see were great. The zoo staff kept visitors entertained, so it was a trip well spent. The zoo is within walking distance to the Hilton Rotterdam. Very scenic. Very memorable.
