Really bad experience here. Hotel feels tired and in desperate need of modernisation.I travelled in October on business and the room was absolutely full of mosquitoes. There was no mosquito catcher in the room despite me asking multiple times. I got severely bitten even though I thought I’d killed most of them.Air conditioning didn’t work until they did a magic-reset at reception. (Only got this after the 2nd complaint on the 2nd night)First night I didn’t sleep at all.In the end I had to stand next to reception while they went looking for a mosquito catcher from another room. I asked to move rooms but they wouldn’t oblige. Rajesh on reception was honestly awful and borderline rude.WiFi was next to useless and no spare plug sockets in the room. Room was pretty dark and not suitable to work in.Breakfast was pretty good IMO. Fresh pastries & cheese, ham etc.

As soon as we arrived there was no lights or signs to help you know where to go to enter. This hotel needs management to step in with up keep. There were two light bulbs our in our room and the Airconditioning wasn’t on. They did fix this after we asked. The restaurant was slow and inattentive. We have traveled extensively in Sicily for the last two weeks and wanted a few bites to eat before having to get up early to fly out overseas tomorrow morning. They added a 10 euros to our bill for service that wasn’t provided. I would not recommend a stay at this hotel. This hotel needs to be updated and cared for.

Grounds are stunning, great pool area and the seating outside the bar is beautiful. Live music every night. WiFi was hit and miss and when on not very fast. Breakfast was lovely and the staff at breakfast are fantastic. What let it down was the shower/bath was slow draining and leaked onto the floor, reported both but.nothing done. Buses into Catina seem to run at thier own timetable and not.the one published and taxis are very expensive

Honestly, when new, it must have been beautiful hotel. Now the time is visible but still very good place, location, service. Low season makes it even better. The cooperation with the beach club is great.

We didnt book this hotel in advance but just stopped by. Hotel is oke, but decorated ‘80 style. Rooms are sober and dark colors and had a nice little patio. The bathroom and shower was terrible and not clean, although enough space. This definitely needs maintenance.Breakfast was oke, lots of local treats and pastries. Atmosphere in the breakfast area was cold and not gezellig. Staff in the breakfast room was not very helpful and hardly spoke English. Frontdesk staff spoke English but were unfriendly. Only focused on doing their job and not interested in their guests.Big swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Private parking and hotel is located at the beach. Hotel has private beach as well which we couldnt find since the directions shared by frontdesk staff was incorrect. In the end we found it ourselves by coincidence.

One of the most beautiful places, overlooking the Etna volcano. The architecture of the building and the unique details reminded me of the opulence and splendour of ancient Rome. The dinner was also incredible, with live music, beautiful garden views and a staff that went above and beyond to make sure I have the most delightful experience.

I traveled with a friend and the AC was not working in his room. The AC was not working in my room either. They will keep trying to send maintenance instead of just changing your room. Location is not great and the rooms are not great. This place has gone downhill since the last time I stayed in 2018. The wifi is horrible and randomly goes down through out the day.

Not convenient to anything but the airport. Loud pool party went on from 2 am to 3:30. Staff did not try to shut it down.Loud music throughout the complex… rap is not conducive to relaxing in your room, balcony or by the very nice pool area, volume is over bearing.Extra daily charge for breakfast, but anyone can walk in and get breakfast with no questions asked, Dinners ok, but pricy with a limited range. Live music during dinner, excellent,Difficult getting a lightbulb replaced by the bed. Days later still no response from staff.Closet door scrapes the tile floor when opening and closing making an awful noise. Reported this days ago, but no follow up from staff.Difficult getting to the beach..Dinners ok, but pricy and not a wide selection,PRO: Live music during dinner and throughout the evening is wonderful and relaxing. Singers are very good.

Stayed for 11 nights. The area is very strange not much there at all just a few cafe type restaurants which were nice but totally dominated by seafood and fish, in which we are not keen. The Hotel could be lovely, badly in need of updating and some TLC. Our room was nice with balcony overlooking the pool and an amazing view of Mount Etna. The bathroom was ok but whenever we used the handbasin the smell of drains in the room was awful. They need to get that sorted. The breakfast room was lovely and staff were also.Didn’t try the restaurant as only fish on the menu. Although we didn’t ask if they could do something else, perhaps we should have.Reception staff always helpful and pool and bar staff also. The pool was lovely but again needs some TLC.We did have a good time but would dearly love to see Romano PL Hotel taken back to its original splendour. It would be amazing 🤩

This is definitely not a 5* hotel, if you want to experience the Shining, this is the place.Signs and corridors that lead to nowhere - the fitness centre and solarium literally don’t exist. We walked around the whole hotel one evening and found none of these places. Where they’re supposed to be, you’ll find a corridor with no doors and spare furniture. There were only a handful of guests in this rather large hotel which felt very quiet at night. Out of the 4 or 5 restaurants on site, only one was open and unbelievably expensive. The hotel is located near the Catania beach front but has no direct or private access. The whole area is rather derelict, outside of the town centre which we don’t recommend walking to. Take a taxi as it’s a dodgy 40 min walk on a dual carriageway with little to no pavement.

It’s been so long since I travelled and this is definitely not a 5star. Reception are nice people and they helped to answer your needs. Rooms 😖 …furniture are old and there is a round table with 2 chairs, no power socket below so how to do my emails when my laptop power is not long enough to stretch across the room to the makeup table that has the socket. End up working on the bedside and had to plug out the lamp power at the side. 1 star down. Staying At level 1, I regretted opening the balcony door as the mosquitoes got in and I could not sleep for a while. Shower is always splashing out of the tub and floor ended up wet. Dangerous may fall if I’m old. 2 stars down. Wifi was down 2 times in my 5 days stay. 3 stars down. Breakfast is disappointing too all look the same! but the Etna view is good. But next door NH also can see Etna and many others! The taxi service is good given it’s the big Mercs van… but I’m here to sleep in a nice hotel which was lagging. I’ll give 2 star overall.

I’m sure the Romano was luxurious in its day but the facilities are now very tired, we had to complain several times about our room and although we were moved to a different room there was similar problems with the new room. The staff were all pleasant and helpful but they seem bothered about our complaints.

Quite a nice hotel in the outskirts of Catania that is well maintained and has a good atmosphere. The pool is decent and the clientele are nice. The location is quite out of the city centre and its a €20 cab fare away. We got stung on a few service charges for drinks on checkout but overall a good hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was nice, but I forgot a few things when I checked out. I worked on a ship, so when I noticed a few items were left behind, I called the hotel, and they assured me I could retrieve what I left on a later date. Once I arrived 5 days later, they only had my least expensive items. My new $300.00 Bluetooth speaker was one of the items left behind. They told me that they were sorry it was not in the room. If you decide to visit this place, DONT ACCIDENTALLY LEAVE ANYTHING. THEY WILL KEEP IT.

This hotel has opportunity to be good. It really does, but they lack in so many little things that it was just not a good stay at all. Overall, the room was clean, but there was visible mold in the shower, it leaked all over the floor due to broken seals, the closet doors did not function right, the remote control for the TV did not work, the thermostat cannot be set and even upon setting it with the front desk, my room was still damp and cold every night I was there. The bed was hard as a rock and uncomfortable. The complimentary breakfast was good, surprisingly the pillows on the bed were very comfy, and the staff were nice and accomodating. They need to spruce up their rooms and address needed repairs and improvements, as well as making the thermostat easier to use. I probably would not stay here again.

We (2 adultsstayed at the Romano Palace Luxury Hotel. The garden and outside areas including the pool of the hotel is nice and it looks like the photos online. BUT the hotel rooms are old, especially the bathrooms. There were stains in the bath tubs and the faucets were very calcified. We had breakfast included but for us it wasn’t worth it at all. The selection at the buffet was almost limited to sweet pastries and cake. Fresh fruits and proper bread were completely missing. There was only one kind of cheese and ham - very poor selected buffet. The waiters were very slowly and unpolite. They never asked us if we would like to have coffee or something else. We had to actively ask them. For us that’s no service at all considering it being a 5 star rated hotel. The Wi-Fi was working slow and had a bad connection. If you want to visit the city center of Catania we wouldn’t recommend walking home by foot late night. Because of the location of the hotel on the beach you have to walk through some darker lighted streets - that isn’t fun.Taxis can be very expensive in sicily. Be careful and always try to choose one with a taximeter. Otherwise you may end up paying way too much.In short: our stay was very disappointing and not worth its money. We weren’t feeling comfortable and even changed the hotel during our stay.

We were very dissapointed when paying the bill on checkout. The price was higher then it was supposed to be. They pribably thought that we will not remember what we have ordered in restaurant. We wanted to see the bill. However, the bill I signed that night in restaurant was changed (after I signed that priceby stuff and the price was increased by 30€ This was totally dissapointing and see this as stealing money from us. They are playing luxury. However, that time of high service quality is past.

Romano palace hotel is the worst. The staff is very unfriendly and dont help you at all( and that is even a understatementthey also do not speak english at all, despite for the guy who works at the pool, he was really nice. The pool is really dirty and you cant see the bottom. We supposed to stay in a double room with terrace. The first night we discovered the airco was not working. Also the fridge was not working and we got a blanket without sheets. But we didnt wanted tot complain that much so we just went to the pool to enjoy the holiday. The pool was nice and we had fun there. Then we decided to order a bottle of prosecco and when they brought it to our table we were laying in the pool. When we came back to our table the bottle was laying on the ground and was half empty. When we mentioned it to the staff they gave us a attitude and told us it was our responsibility. After that moment we were kind of done with this place. The next day:The bed was really hard and we woke up with pain in our neck and back.We went to breakfast and this was not any better. We paid 10’euros each, a day extra for breakfast but the only thing you can get is old bread with cheese or an old dry croissant. When we asked for an omelet or something they said ‘the kitchen was closed’. We tried a peach but it was rotten and had wurms in it. (See picture. We showed the kitchen staff and they only said: ‘ok’. And took it away.In the description of the hotel service they say they offer roomservice but when we called, they say they dont do it and we have to go to the restaurant. Also they charge you 10 euros extra. We went to the reception and told the staff our experience was different than expected in a 5 star hotel and asked for a room upgrade. We got another room but it was exactly the same but than with a balcony. The way we changed room was also really strange... they told us to pack our bags so somebody from the staff could pick it up and bring it to the new room.So we did and we brought it to the lobby and we asked for the keys for the new room. They said they didnt had it yet so there we are, standing in the lobby with al our stuff and no room. They let us wait without communicating how long it would take and why we had to wait. Thats something you really dont want if you want to enjoy your vacation. In this new room the airco still did not work all the time. Also, this toilet wont flush. The bed was really hard and everyday we woke up with pain in neck and back. Also, we asked sheets for the blanket but literally no-one of the staff understand. So we made up our bed everyday by ourself.Another thing, in the description of the the hotel they say that there is a private beach for the hotel guests. Well, there is no private beach. When we asked about this at the reception, they told us we could get a ticket for a public beach in front of the hotel. The beach was nice but not private at all. There were a lot of tourists.Than the last surprise, with checking out they charge you 40 more euros for tourist tax or something. When we asked about it, the hotel staff also did not know what exactly it is for, you just have to pay it. Also they charged us 60 euros for an one-time laundry service. When we asked for a receipt for the laundry they didnt have one. I can tell you it was not worth 60 euros at all. They washed about 4 pair of socks and 3 boxershorts and 2 t-shirts.We complained about it and the only thing people say is sorry and thats what you can expect in a 5 star hotel.BUT THIS ISNT A 5 STAR HOTEL AT ALL!!!When we were laying in the pool we heard alot of people complain about this hotel and the way they work. So i think there will be more bad reviews! All with all, this hotel is definetly not worth your stay and I suggest you go somewhere else if you want a nice holiday.

nice enough hotel, looking a bit dated in the rooms. The food was excellent as was the staff and the little hidden areas around the gardens were great for relaxing, the pool was small so a bit busy at times but not too bad. A 3.5 star hotel sold as a 5 star hotel. Needs urgent renovation. Shuttle did not pick me up from the airport. Pool area basic. Prices are 5 star 😁 and drinks are average . I love this hotel. Please don’t expect a real 5-stars, because the price range reveal their real positioning: a quite good 4-stars. Welcoming and professional staff, nice pool. The fitness Center is quite limited but there is a wonderful ground just behind the building where to go and run.

Three star hotel. It looks pretty from the outside but after staying there for 5 nights I can only say it wasnt 5 star.Positive:+Pool is nice and clean, they played chill music+There goes a shuttle from the hotel to the city centre once a day at 10am and comes back at 4pm+Comfortable bed+breakfast place has a balcony to sit on and you can order a nice cappuccino specifically with the staff, they had a prosecco bottle in a cooler available.Negative:-No towels provided for the pool-WiFi is infected by a virus for every device we tried, even after telling the reception, they would kindly ignore the problem-Shower small and frail-breakfast, if you arent a pastries fan you dont have lots of choices. Quality wasnt very good.-no ironing, laundry board or water boiler in whole hotel availableLocation:The beach is right on the other side of the street so thats very convenient. To go into town by foot you will have a hard time walking not on a street thats full of cars. There isnt really a direct way. I would recommend the shuttle, a rental car or a cab.

This place is amazing for Catania standards. Very secure grounds, nice service. Great pastries for Italian breakfast. Its a 5 star hotel for Sicily not compared to USA 5 star. In USA it would be 4 star. Its a few miles out from the city action which is nice when you want to get away. The beach is empty and most shops closed during winter season. You will have no issues if you have a rental car getting where you need to go in town. Just park off the main drags, dont leave anything in your car other than that its safe to walk around.

The staff was friendly and the ambient in this hotel was nice. However, the AC just did not work right, despite numerous time requesting to lower the temperature (controlled by the front desk). The bathroom is small and difficult to shower in it. The room is naimple but not very clean and lots places needing to repair or replace. The dinner was ok. The breakfast was nice but I don’t dare to eat any pastries because there were too many flying insects over and on the pastries. The coffee was horrible; though Italian would serve good coffee? From the first day staying at this hotel, I was counting down days to return home. Not recommend for anyone to stay here. Read the reviews carefully next time if I ever visiting this place again.

We’ve had an interesting 5star experience here. Half board. We arrived late morning and I was really looking forward to indulging in my favourite pizza and a beer at the pizzeria, 1 of 3 restaurants advertised on site. No draught beer... Small Becks or large bottle €18! Unfortunately, the kitchen doesn’t open until 1pm. Luckily we found a great place almost opposite the hotel by the beach. Large beer €4. They got our €100 for wonderful lunch. We found our a/c wouldn’t stay on and it turned out it’s controlled by reception. Our 5 star evening meal was in the only restaurant open. Cold starters. Steak & mushrooms for main; carbs, salad and drinks are not included in half board! We didn’t stay for dessert. Our room is lovely. Terrace with a view, spacious and clean but we seem to be above the kitchen because the most significant noise is plates being stacked after 11pm.Really liked the pool too.Poor value for money unfortunately.

I stayed in this hotel for a weekend trip a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say it was my worst hotel experience ever. When we first arrived there late on the Thursday evening they told us they had upgraded us to a better room with pool view, we thanked them and was happy with this until we saw the room.It was tiny, no view of the pool except for a 5cm glitch behind a tree. Then me and my friend thought it was nothing else to do than to make the best of it, so we decided to have a drink on our tiny balcony with a view of nothing. It was only plastic glasses there and no water ( not ok being a 5 star hotel). Not long after we sat down outside huge rat climbed down the wall of our balcony, we did not expect this( again, not ok for any hotel, but especially not for a 5 star). We called the reception, they didn’t want to give us a new room that night, told us to check in the morning if they had other rooms, but the worst was they told us that it was not possible that we had seen rats because they didn’t have them, and made it sound like we made it up. Then a while after we saw rats again, called the reception again, and then they again responded with this not being possible..Next morning they gave us another room, this was bigger and better, but again when we told them about the rats they said it was not possible. We went for breakfast, the breakfast was on a level with a 3 star hotel. No omelet stand, no salmon etc.But it was ok until my friend found a long hair in her food. They didn’t say anything else than oh, when we let them know. The furniture was very old and dusty also, not very clean. When it comes to location it’s quite far from everything, 20eur to city centre next to a motor way.I will never recommend this place to anyone, it’s a terrible hotel, It’s a 2-3 star at best, I don’t know how they managed to obtaine 5 stars.

The hotel is in a great location, really close to the beach and only a short trip into Catania town. The setting is idyllic and leafy, rooms are well fitted and spacious, even the twins.
