Roman River Valley - Nature reserve in Ipswich, United Kingdom
One of my absolute favourite places to walk in the Colchester area. A place for all seasons, ages and reasons. Dog walks, family stroll, summer paddle and the rope swing us always good value if you get the adults in it!
Dogs No Longer Alowed. Thank God. Less mess
Lovely walk but the ponds need a lot of attention
Great place for to loose a few hours, not a massive place and can be covered pretty easily but plenty of litter free nature to look at. A few places to try and cross the river.
A bit muddy, few parking places but a great place for a nature walk
Great for dog walkers, free park in New Cut (note: can be very busy, especially during the week as there is school and village hall there), the walk following the straight road and path which lead into the woods. Its a woodland walk of medium ability, due to decent down to the river and the climb back up. Few miles walk if you go around the parameter. Can be very muddy in many places during inclement weather.
Lovely walk great for dogs
Great dog walking. Can get lost for hours.
A lovely little woods with the river running through it - plenty of little paths for the kids to run about, but its not a massive area, so take a gentle stroll ;-)
Very nice place to walk or chill in.
Amazing walk in the local wood
Lovely woodland, kids loved it and saw 2 Goshawks.
Quiet and quaint woods... great place to meditate and walk!
A lovely wooded riverside walk
Peaceful unspoilt wooded area tall trees great for walking and wildlife spotting. Green and greater spotted woodpeckers seen as well as Buzzards and Kestrels circling overhead.
The kids love playing on the rope swing over the river. Getting wet and muddy then visiting a pub. A great way to get everyone to walk 5 miles
Lovely walk, peaceful and quiet through the woods, following the stream down to the river. Mainly dog walkers about. Took offroad pushchair for little one. Some areas tough to navigate with it but manageable. Not a large area to walk round but good for an hours fresh air. Plenty of parking on nearest road "The New Cut". The main gate entrance is very narrow to stop people with bikes etc getting through so be aware with a pushchair/buggy. Lift over job if with other people. I was on my own, but fortunately I can unhook a tyre and fix back on once through the entrance.
Beautiful place to walk from Layer de Haye to Olvier Lane
Really nice wooded walk, plenty of paths to explore, good for dogs and children - plenty of streams to paddle in and fallen logs to climb on
Magical
Beautiful setting for a refreshing walk. Visited in summer: ground soft underfoot in places but perfectly fine in casual shoes. Tree cover meant it was lovely and cool. Would recommend getting your bearings on Google Maps before going in, or (better stilldownloading a footpath map from OpenStreetMap.
Love these woods
Dogs love it,.its a very peaceful walk. There is a stream they can get in to. Quite Hilly however
Fun!
Nice and quiet and loads of nature and no roads nearby
Fantastic walks through vast forests.
Love this place beautiful scenery and tranquil environment. One wishes it was larger but not much can be done about that
Beautifully unspoilt woodland.
Peaceful wood
Great Park for kids and a lovely walk along the river.
