Lively option for Latin American fare, with a full bar & lush outdoor patio with twinkling lights.
There was seating available and the service was kind and fast! The guacamole was really good but the chips are made in the morning and left out so they are not as fresh as they could be (stale). The tortilla soup was just okay and I preferred the shrimp soup more after trying it.
A really unique experience. The rice and beans were fantastic with lots of flavor and not your usual tex-mex refried side beans. We had Popeyes Burrito and enchiladas. Everything tasted great and really different from the usual mexican food experience.
Eating here was not a good experience at all. The room was cold and smelled dirty. The food was very very bland and had things that Mexican food does not have, such as cheddar cheese and queso that had almost no taste similarity to real queso. It seemed to have a flour base. The service was fast but I’m telling you, the food was so bad that despite our huge appetites, we ate only two bites of our entrees and got the check to leave. Neither of us have done this before, but truly the food was not good. The presentation of the plate was nice, but that’s the only positive thing we can say about it.
Some friends of ours raved about this place so we thought wed give it a try.We were seated quickly and chips & salsa were brought right out. The salsa is a corn & black bean salsa thats very mild. The chips were of a medium thickness yellow corn. My wife wasnt a fan. I thought it was ok but the salsa wasnt something that would make me want to come back. The kids ordered enchiladas and quesadillas, my wife tamales, and I ordered Nanas Enchiladas which were chicken sour cream enchiladas. Everyone loved the rice. My wife really enjoyed her food and was wishing we had found this place on our last visit. I thought the food was good but there wasnt anything that would make me crave it.Service was a little slow. Many at our table were choking food down without anything to drink. We finally had to flag someone down to get a refill.Overall we enjoyed our meal and I would go back to try other menu items.
Since the weather was a little cold, when we visited, our dining experience was eating inside. Our server was attentive. The food was very flavorful. We enjoyed a shrimp quesadilla and guacamole. If we would have been in Hot Springs longer, we would have revisited this restaurant. The food was delicious.
Incredible food, and fantastic atmosphere, especially the outdoor patio. Service was also great. Just disappointed in how they nickle and dimed us. Because we had a group of 10, they charged a kitchen service fee of close to 15%, separate from the service tips. Then, they charged a credit card fee on top of that. Just beware there will be additional fees on top of the price of the meal.Update after owners reply: if there is never a kitchen service fee, then your waiter lied to our faces. He made sure he came to the table to explain that was not his tip, but rather a special charge to encourage the kitchen staff. Very disappointing, considering we were extremely pleased with his service, and left a significant tip.
The patio seating was great as many other reviewers suggested. The food was mediocre. We ordered guacamole and it lacked lime juice (too heavy on the onions). Chicken TAMALES lacked flavor. The best dish was the CAMARONES BOHEMIOS; the shrimp was cooked perfectly.
One of the best meals I have had in such a long time. Had the veggie tamales, guacamole, and shrimp fajitas. Ate my food soooo fast and didn’t take a picture. Heavenly!
Service was excellent, and back patio is a nice break from the busy downtown. Generous food portions and extra flair on the presentation. No draft beer, but the cocktails were cool and refreshing.
We had lunch at Rolando’s this past Saturday. It’s deceiving when you look in the front door and see no customers…BUT do go in and ask to sit outside which is where everyone is! The outside seating is behind the building up about 15 steps and is right next to the rock mountain. Super cool. The food was good but not hot as the waiter wasn’t very speedy. 5 stars for atmosphere. 4 stars for the food and 3 stars for the service. I will definitely go back again as it is a very fun atmosphere and hopefully the food and service will be better.
Rolandos was fabulous. The drinks were delicious. I had the cucumber vodka mojito, and it was delicious and very refreshing. Had the Plato Cubano and the boyfriend ordered the Cuban sandwich. They were quite authentically prepared and well-presented to boot. The decor was cute, service was good, and everything was just as it should be. Top notch!
We really enjoyed the different type salsa at Rolandos! It had corn and beans which is not something were used to. Our food and drinks came out very fast. The food is plated in a fancy way. We thought both meals were very tasty. We had the shrimp quesadillas and susus enchiladas. We are happy we tried it out but the pricing was just a tad too high for us for what we got.
A-MA-ZING!!!! We sat on the pet friendly patio with our dog. Our server brought him a bowl of ice water with our wine. The food presentation was as good as the food!! Lauren was our waitress and could not have been sweeter! My wife had the Tamales and had a all the flavors. I had the Fajitas with beef, chicken and shrimp. The beef and chicken were more tender than any other fajita I have had. We will definitely be back next time we come through this town!
My husband ordered chicken enchiladas, it was flavorless.I ordered beef fajitas it was horrible, the meat tasted like it was spoiled. I guess they thought if they seasoned it enough no-one would know> I will not go back or suggest them, I told our hotel and they said they would not suggest them either.
The food was very good. The black bean and corn salsa was excellent. Understand the limitations of a historic building but our party was on the second floor. For a person with mobility limitations, access was difficult.
Interesting Latin restaurant in Hot Springs on Bathhouse Row. I was sat immediately and brought chips and some delightful, addictive kind of salsa. I should have ordered a drink but opted for water instead. Next time! I ordered these lime shrimp that I forgot the name of but they were really tasty! I do wish the shrimp would have been a little more cooked. Good service and within walking distance to my hotel. Would definitely come back!
What an amazing place! Food was excellent!! I had the Don Quijote burrito and my wife had Susu’s enchiladas. Both were amazing and extremely flavorful.Definitely check out the patio. It is built in to the natural stone connected to the building. Very cool. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Latin food and the ambiance is exceptional.Definitely check it out…
The food was good, not something I have tried before. The mix of flavors and spices were totally new for me. Im used to Tex-Mex, which this is not, which was totally a treat. The staff was a bit odd when we walked in, just staring at us, finally got one to say that we could sit anywhere, so I guess Im petty and giving 4 stars.
Picked Rolandos because we wanted something different. Food and service was good. I love the colorful plates
This place here! Omg it was so good. The corn and black bean salsa was delicious. I got the Cuban which was so good and mom got the enchiladas recommended by our nice waitress. Finished off with the tres leches (my fav cake ever!I think it could have been a bit more leche and I wish it came with strawberries, but it was still good.
Great food in a unique atmosphere. We had the tamales as an appetizer and then the enchiladas and shrimp quesadillas. The food was excellent. Also, every employee was very welcome coming and our server did a great job.
Rolandos was the best surprise of our trip to Hot Springs. The Tilapia Tacos we’re delicious and the rice and beans also outstanding! Usually rice and beans are an afterthought but here they could easily be the main event. Definitely would eat here again! Great job chef!!!
2022...Disappointed. this is no longer a high-end Ecuadorian menu like it was in 2021. We gave great reviews all 22 of us in 2021... the food was amazing the presentation was spectacular. Who did they hire as their chef in 2022? Should I have just gone to Taco Bell?Ecuadorian might as well call it a Mexican restaurant. The food was terrible. Burritos enchiladas tacos chimichangas quesadillas fajitas all the basic Mexican food. Such a disappointment
Do not listen to the bad reviews. This is not Mexican. This is not Cuban. This is a locally owned ECUADORIAN restaurant. The atmosphere, service and food are great! The flavors are unique, nothing like youve ever had before. Try it! Ask to sit in the Speak-easy after 4pm....or the roof-top terrace anytime of day. If you like margaritas, theirs are the best in town. Their cocktails are made authentically the way youd expect with quality liquors.Their Camarones al Mojo is fantastic! There isnt a dish Ive tried that I didnt like.
Absolutely the best! The plating of the meal was fantastic and the taste was over the top. Very good meal I had the Cubano, my wife had the Tilapia. Her meal was one of the best she has ever had. We had great service from our server Tom! And the Margaritas….I’m in heaven.
Husband and I came here for dinner and everything was amazing! The moment we walked in our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was good and the drinks were strong, but our overall favorite part of everything was dessert. We had the Rolandos bananas and let me tell you it is a must have. We didnt dine outside because of the heat but if we are ever back in town we will definitely go back to Rolandos.
I enjoyed the food we ate. I wasnt overly impressed like I thought I would be based on others opinions. It was good food but I will try other options next visit to Hot Springs.
If the weather permits, do yourself a favor and sit outside in the back. The scenery and feeling of being up in the mountains is the best part about this place. The food is fine, although you should know going in that it won’t be the standard Tex Mex you might expect. The flavors are more tropical than spicy. The plating is lovely - as you can see from the pictures. One star deduction for two reasons: we didn’t love the margaritas (they seemed like a generic mix, and pretty watered down), and while the plating LOOKS pretty, I believe the flavor of the dishes would have been improved had they added the sauces to the food itself rather than artfully swirled on the very edge of the plate.
They have an amazing vegetarian tamale option! So good! Queso was delicious too.
10/10 first place we ate in Arkansas, we were recommended by some locals working in the Downtown Hot Springs area and they said go to Rolando’s and make sure to eat outside on the patio! We totally agree! Had an amazing experience. Argentinian food was delicious! Ambience, service, and food were all divine. Go there on your next visit! We will surely be coming back :)
Be prepared for lots of stairs, and uneven ones at that, when you eat outside. They do have a lovely patio set into the cliffside! It was beautiful to eat there, and they even had live music! I do recommend either going before the sun starts to set or wearing bug spray. The food was great with hearty portion sizes. The building has some cool history, like all of the area. They said they do speak easy events regularly upstairs. The restrooms were a little odd. Ill go back next time Im in town!
Rolandos had tasty veggies options and the COOLEST outdoor patio out back with a natural rock wall. Great atmosphere!
In Hot Springs, Arkansas. Someone recommended visiting Rolandos (Ecuadorian food - similar to Mexican). The food and service was outstanding. Thank you, Norma.
Great Ecuadorian fusion food. Shrimp was good, and they give a personal corn salsa to each guest that we all loved. The chips were also very fresh.
Great atmosphere, waiters were very attentive, and food was great and tasted super fresh! What more could you ask for?
Rolando’s... where the food is *just* as beautiful as the ambiance. An early dinner on the patio begins with corn and bean salsa & house-made chips. The menu has 20+ entree options & the servers are knowledgeable about food allergies. There’s even a keto option on the menu. Which is pictured in this review.Pollo Bohemio is fantastic and an old favorite of mine! And yes, yes, the view is incredible too!!!! You’re nestled between the buildings and the cliff side - with a partial view of folks cruising the strip along bathhouse row.
Loved the restaurant and the food. I ordered the Tilapia Tacos and was very pleased with the flavor, quality, and appearance. I had the choice of hard or soft taco shells - I chose soft and they were really good. They were served with a rice/bean mixture that was very good also. My wife chose the Tamales and was very pleased with the taste. The atmosphere is nice and intimate. The service was ok, but it was extremely busy and it took quite some time to have drinks refilled, salsa refilled, etc. However, our server was extremely pleasant and personable even though she was very busy. I will definitely dine here again in the future.
3/12/22-Went back, still great!Fabulous food and atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night and sat on the balcony seating. Sucked that the live music had already stopped when we got there at 9 pm, and would suggest having some music playing at all times, but that was the only thing that was unfortunate. The staff was friendly, and service was quick. Really cool design of the place. Will be going back on our next trip.
I visited here for the first time three years ago. I was shocked at how good it was then and still shaking the second time I tried it. The staff is super friendly. The queso is to die for! But really everything there is delicious.
In a world of same-old-same-old, Rolandos in Hot Springs is a delicious break from the average. We were stunned at both the ambiance and service, and also the food itself! Wonderful and tasty!!! A head above the rest!
This was interesting. The restaurant itself is very cute. The servers were a little overworked which led to some delay in ordering and getting the food. The food itself was a twist on the regular Mexican fare we usually eat. The sauces they added made it tastier. We started with a plate of mini tamales - chicken, pork and chili cheese. The chicken was dry and I liked the chili cheese the best. The pork was ok. The salsa they had with the nachos was a little like a beans salsa as it had all sorts of beans along with the usual ingredients of onions, tomatoes, cilantro etc. Had a tangy kick and we liked it.For the main course, I got the quesadilla with chicken and my friend got the burrito and a chicken soup. I loved the quesadilla. It was way more filling that expected, looked attractive to eat with all the sauces, the rice accompanying it was fried and delicious (like Indian pulaoand the goat cheese inside elevated the dish. My friend liked her burrito also because of the medley of flavors. The chicken soup was bland and the kind that you want at the end of a cold day to warm yourself up. I liked it but she did not as much. The portions were big so we actually got 2.5 meals out of it. Good experience!
I cant say enough great things about this restaurant. The Ecuadorian food was amazing! If you like Mexican food, you will LOVE Ecuadorian food! The staff was extremely friendly. Our waiter, Tom, actually gave us the tour of the upper floors when we were done! Looking forward to going back during warmer weather when they have live music on the rooftop.
I would not go back. The food is Cuban, not Mexican. I knew this going in. They are very different spices and flavors. . For example, true Mexican enchiladas are not made with flour tortillas but corn. The salsa is very different as well. It wasnt bad but it wasnt my preference. The service was excellent and the restaurant had a lot of nice artwork.
Enjoyed the Mexican food. Plates presentations are really good and have authentic Mexican flavor. Portion size is small for the size and compared to other Mexican restaurants. Vibe of the restaurant is little rustic and old town feel.
Not a must visit place in Hot Springs. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it didn’t seem like an orderly place. The host (very kindrushed in behind us to seat us as she had been smoking a cigarette outside when we walked in. There was a young woman (a server?with her head down on the little bar, and it was hard to tell who actually worked there. A uniform might be the way to go someday. We were sat at a nice table, very colorful, and the ambiance was nice. But one of our menus had food smashed in it. We were quickly given a new menu. I ordered the tortilla soup, and I recommend not ordering that. It was the most flavorless soup I’ve ever had. It essentially tasted like they have dipped a chicken breast in water and then served it. Our server was super understanding and removed it from the bill; I only took three bites out of it. My boyfriend ordered the pollo dish, which was better, but still lacking in flavor. For a place serving Ecuadorian food, we found that most things lacked flavor and seasoning. Everything was plated nicely.
Funky restaurant that has the charm of a bygone era. We ate in the dining room but realized after that the patio is the way to go.Food was good, not great. A bit pricey for the quality. This cost them a 5 Star rating.Staff was friendly and helpful.
First off, my Bloody Maria was exquisite. I also enjoyed my burrito. Our water was very patient and gave some insight in helping order. We were not disappointed with put choices. Next time we will have to check out the musical entertainment upstairs!
Came here on Fourth of July. Restaurant is interesting don’t know if Tex Mex or American. I don’t usually return items but when I ordered the tortilla soup I had to return it back. The soup was bland, unappetizing, and nasty. I would have given this place a solid 3/5 stars but this dish proved me wrong. Solid 7/10 Would recommend to try only once and no more.
Food looks fancy but isnt all that at all. Quantity is good though. Price is incredibly high! Definitely not worth that price. I think people just come for the patio seating. The ambiance is nice in the patio. But the food is a disappointment. The drinks are good though. The service isnt the best. They do have live music on the weekend.
Such a cute eclectic Ecuadorian restaurant. Multilevel place, but I liked the upstairs speakeasy area. If the weather is nice, go eat outside on their patio. If you do, you are surrounded by trees and the mountain side and feel you have been transported. They offer a nice variety in their menu. Prices are a bit high, but the uniqueness and the quality of the food meet you half way. They offer a complimentary bean corn salsa that was pretty good, but the chips were kind of stale and in need of salt. I enjoyed the guactostada and my friends raved about their adkins dinner. Their dishes are large so either split or enjoy leftovers later. Their garlic rice is delicious. Their coffee was actually really good, which surprised me. The staff there was really friendly. I would come back.
