Collection of gourmet stalls including meat, fish, pasta, produce & breads, with sidewalk seating.
Good coffee; pastry and food.
Always the freshest fish, produce and salads. Best place to shop hands down.
Nice selection of food, if you can afford it.
Nice locally sourced market including a large European gourmet inventory, ordered a medium roast coffee. Very good
Their tres leches cake is really good although its a little pricey compared to the ones in supermarkets but its worth the extra $$.
This place carries an interesting selection of uncommon and premium products and groceries. The butcher and fishmonger have especially fresh items. The Bakery is not too shabby either. An enjoyable shopping experience.
Good selection, but Expensive prices. Great coffee & breakfast.small meat market, deli, grocery , produce, and fish market. Overpriced. good quality.
Always fun to poke around and find new foods to try. Parking is a challenge but Bart is right across the street.
Great food and pastries. Lots of help from the employees. They are fast attentive and very kind.
Fresh produce. Fish, meats. Like a whole foods. Over priced for many household. Wed be a healthier nation Over if all of us could eat our food from here. Smh; the haves and have nots.
I love their Ricciarelli cookies, their pizza, and their challah. There’s so much to try and I assume everything else they have is good. The lines are long but it’s worth it.
This is a great Market. Something for everyone. Stop the the cheese and bakery counter (Disclosure-you will fall in lovethe people are extremely knowledgeable of their products and always willing to help you elevate your dish! This market has everything you need from flower, produce, chocolates, oils, wine fish and so much more! Great place to grab a coffee. It’s location is perfect if you enjoy window shopping and the parking is surprisingly convenient having Bart next to it. I never have trouble finding a spot close by.
Love the selection of high quality products. Wish the crowd in the store were better managed. Definitely would recommend it when looking for specialty products.
Market Hall is the best! They have so many fantastic specialty goods and their fresh goods are out of this world.Market Hall is great for a quick pit stop for snacks on your way to a party or a simple bite to eat for lunch or dinner. My go-tos are the crunchy cabbage salad, the kale caesar, and the mac and cheese. But you cant go wrong with any option!
You can pretty much get it all, at the Rockstar Market Haul! Literally soup to nuts selection with high value Merch. Dont know what you need, theyve got two choices! Yum-yum in the tum-tum! Ease on down next time ur in Da Rock!
If youve got the money, theyve got the time. Love this collection of specialty stores - seafood, meat, produce, deli, wines, a coffee shop, specialty cheeses, and a wonderful bakery. Top-end, quality all around and all connected together under one roof. I visit when Ive got a little extra $ in my purse. Cant visit as often as Id like but its always worth the wait.
Only real downside is its a little pricey. Currently the individual markets are separated with each having their own entrances and lines. Lots of variety and specialties. They have there own parking in back.
I want to personally thank Juliana Uruburu, one of the retail buyers, who made my Thanksgiving week so wonderful this year. I had done a big lunch shopping at the deli, buying all my favorite salads and hot items. I had no food in my fridge and was very tired and hungry! I packed everything up and when I got home, realized I did not have my bag. Panic-stricken, I drove back to Market Hall and luckily bumped into Juliana. I was desperate to find my bag of goodies and was very frustrated when they werent where I thought I had left them. Juliana immediately swept in and took control. She went to every department in Market Hall - produce, butcher, fish - to see if my missing bag would surface. Sadly, she returned saying she had not found it. Seeing my disappointment, she then escorted me back to the deli, where she assisted me in replacing the items I had lost, at a great discount. Juliana went above and beyond, jumping in to assist when needed. And the way she spoke to every guest, every employee, showed me that this is how she always operates - checking in, encouraging, finding ways to help. I am very thankful for Julianas assistance and know that Market Hall is lucky to have someone like her!On another note, I want to commend Market Hall for handling the Thanksgiving crowd so well during the pandemic. I heard that they had purchased parking spots at BART to accommodate patrons since they would be closing off the street for people waiting to pick up items. For people waiting in line, everything was so well organized, and well structured. And again, the staff were very accommodating and cheery - visiting with customers in line, and keeping things upbeat. In addition, the excellent customer service and professionalism at the deli never wavered, despite the stress level of customers being extra high this year! Thank you Market Hall for all you do and have done this holiday. You have shone brightly.
Im always mixed on market hall. On one hand they have specialty produce you cant get anywhere else. Their cheese and charcuterie section is truly something else and you can always find niche flours and spices. The reason I dont love coming here however are the patrons. Everyone is on the older side and ever so stuffy, self important, and on occasion rude. The staff can be a mix too, sometimes Ill get someone truly friendly and other times they couldnt give a hoot.
Count the ways: bakery coffee, italian deli and prepared foods, florist, cheeses, wines, fish shop, butcher shop and green grocer. Has been a place to go for fancy dinner party foods, but also to grab an insanely delicious croissant after my dental appt (3d floor), and getting on BART. Now it is limited by Covid-19 restrictions, but you can order for pick up at the tiny parking lot.
Amazing market place with all food and grocery you may need. All you can eat! Great collection of coffee, tea, high quality meats, cheese, croissants, bread 🍞. There are readily cooked yummy lunch and supper choices. I got sandwiches and cool cuts and salad for lunch. And took home bottles of Italian and Californian wine. You can buy all groceries and cook at your own place. Certainly very convenient for those who want to show off your cooking skills.
Not gonna lie, Im one of the cheese mongers at this place. If you are looking for amazing cheese recommendations, come see us!! There are nearly 300 cheeses and any time from all around the world. I/we can help you awe your friends and family with superb cheese and charcuterie platters with all the accouterments. Along with the cheese, I guess there are top notch meats in our deli or at the butcher shop, fish, produce, bakery items, and an amazing selection of imported groceries you wont find anywhere else!! Whatever, come to the cheese counter, we make dreams come true 🧀 🍕 🍖 🥓 🥩 🍷 🎂 🐟 🐠!!
Market Hall is more than just a locale for the best food, coffee, pastries and meeting place, its a public asset as a cultural epicenter. Location notwithstanding, its worth a daily trip even if youre 30 miles away. Easily the best place to spend a couple hours on a weekend seeing the sights and enjoying one of the premier locales the West Coast has to offer.
Great selection of boutique grocery items that is hard to find in any other place in the the area. They also carry many flavors of Jeni’s Ice Cream (even non-dairy ones!), which is something I haven’t been able to find in this area.
Amazing selection of pasta, upscale gourmet items. Theres a bakery, wine shop, seafood and meat market as well as fresh produce. One star off for high prices at the rents in Rockridge drive this. High Wire coffee and tea is a hidden treasure, too
Fantastic selection of things for last minute groceries, especially from their cheese counter. I havent tried much at their bakery, but I recommend the cheese buns. Its set up a bit like a farmers market, so you have to buy different types of groceries separately, which can get annoying. The produce selection is great, but their packaged groceries are more limited in scope. Generally speaking, this place provides high-end products that can get pretty pricey, so Id recommend it as a secondary shopping place unless youre swimming pool of money is getting a bit too full and you need to do something about it.
Parking: The lot behind the produce store off Shafter Ave has signs about paid parking and validation. If youre there on the weekend or dont see an attendant handing out slips, then its free. Theres also the BART lot across the street, which is free after 3PM (I thinkand on weekends.Markets: The Market is split up into different shops, so you have to go to the cashier in each before you go on to the next. This is helpful, because it forces you to see what youve spent along the way. Youll appreciate that because the place is fairly pricey, especially the butcher. However, the quality of the meats there absolutely makes the prices worth paying. You know where the animals came from and that they werent raised on corn in tiny cages. The selections at each market are outstanding if youre concerned with high quality foods. Will continue to do half my grocery shopping there.
Great market with the full array of merchants. Pasta shop, cheese shop, deli, wine shop, butcher, seafood, groceries, bakery, coffee shop, and just about everything else. Great quality products all around and one of the most pleasant shopping experiences one can have in the Bay Area. Skip the Whole Foods and shop at Rockridge Market Hall!
The most fabulous market in Oakland for interesting and hard-to-find food items. Also includes the wonderful Pasta Shop (Meyer Lemon ravs!and a spectacular ready-to-eat deli counter. They also offer a great, reasonably priced catering service that I highly recommend.
A good place with a range of food options including a great butcher shop, deli counter, prepared foods, upscale imports, cheese, bakery, wine merchant, fishmonger, and grocer. I particularly recommend the butcher shop! They have an unbelievable selection of ethically raised meat and a knowledgeable, helpful staff. The market is a little bougie overall, often crowded, and the clientele can be a bit rude, but the staff is awesome and there are lots of tasty treats to discover.
I dont like crowds, but The Market Hall is worth it. I wont go there if Im in a hurry, but love taking my time looking at everything, chatting with the shop staff, and tasting some cheese (and inevitably buying whatever Ive just tasted!). Staff is friendly and knowledgeable – dont hesitate to ask them anything!
High end local market + fishery + produce + coffee + bakery. This place has a fairly large selection of quality merchandise, the fresh bread is great and the coffee is okay. Good for finishing touches but Id only go here for a few small items unless your bankroll is infinite.
This place has delicious salads, amazing charcuterie, a knowledgeable cheese counter and a great, handmade pasta selection. Make sure to take a number right away, because it is usually crowded. There is also a great bakery and Highwire coffee towards the back entrance (College Ave.)
I really love this marketplace with all of its many shops. The variety of fresh products fruit, cheese, prepared foods. Regrettably so many of their customers are rude and insensitive on my most recent experience an inpatient customer nearly shoved me out of the was to open a refrigerator door catching my heal. While another customer began speaking over the cheese counter person who was in the middle of telling me about a cheese.Love the shops but not other customers.
This quaint market seems to always be bustling with all kinds of people looking to see, smell, and taste the delightful offerings on display. Though it can get pretty tight at times, the staff is friendly and attentive. This market is great for a quick bite of prepared food, high quality staples for the modern Californian menu, and exotic items that are unique to the location. Its worth a visit to just take it all in.
A must-do for food fans. Conveniently located across the street from the Rockridge BART station. Many wonderful things to buy. In addition, the cheese selection is outstanding. I bought the most delicious piece of fresh swordfish the other day at the seafood shop. Marin Sun Farms runs the butcher shop. Enjoy!
Market Hall is a great place to go with its Boutique shops specifically for meat, fish cheese, bakery, Deli, and then the general stuff in the middle. Throughout the entire place the staff are very helpful and friendly and well go an extra mile to serve you. The pizza by the slice is wonderful. I highly recommended the coffee shop and they serve excellent coffee. The coffee shop roast the beans on site the staff are very knowledgeable about which types to select for your liking.
This pace had amazing food of all types. Its all amazing. Its also perfect for prepared meals. Get off BART walk over grab dinner to go. Its really well made as well. Delicious!
Market hall has so much variety- great produce selection, fresh meat and fish, Highwire coffee and market hall bakery has some good sweet treats. Best one so far I have tried is Bitter sweet chocolate cake.
A small and compact store but so much is packed in there. There is a lot of great options for you to get some great food like cheeses and chocolates. The deli is well stocked for fresh food to eat now.The staff is friendly and while I was looking at the chocolate bars offered me a taste of one before I bought it.
I love this place. Its very fancy, but not as intimidating as it seems. The produce and fresh baked goods are well priced, as is some of the ( very high quality localmeat and fish. The wine shop is also full of secretly wonderful $10-$20 bottles
Bumping shoulders with very intent grocery shoppers makes this place wonderful for out of state or out of country visitors, as well as those running home on the way after work. You can watch everyone wanting to Be First. Good food though highly seasoned especially difficult is the amount of salt in cooked hot table foods. The toilets are a trip down a back ally. All worthy adventures. My favorite is the olive oil orange pound cake.
great fresh EVERYTHING, like a toyshop for gormets, you will find many items you have never seen or tasted, no matter who you are. great cheese selection too. friendly and knowledgeable staff, many small independent shops under one roof. can be expensive. Italian european leaning selection.
First, everyone should know that "Market Hall" is a collection of small businesses, including a coffee shop, bakery, general grocery, produce market, wine shop, meat market, and more. You can get everything , but it is $$$$ pricey. IMO the two best features are the produce shop and Marin Sun Farms meats (both located in the "back" away from College ave). Marin Sun Farms has the best fresh meat Ive ever had, and its ethically sourced. The produce place is relatively affordable and has great fresh produce, along with a few other things.
This reminds me a lot of Faletti’s Market in SF - just down the street from where I used to live. Basically, a smaller, more expensive super market that focuses on organic, farm-fresh food and charges prices that are about 20-40% more than a typical supermarket (and about 10-20% higher than Whole Foods). They definitely have some good stuff and a well run operation - in particular, I think that the system they have for holding pre-cooked and deli food behind the counter and giving you a number to show the cashier works really well. The place was busy too, so it seems that their business is doing just fine.
Nice variety of small shops with scrumptious, fresh foods. Delicious breads, lovely deli, wonderful butcher with grass-fed meats and a case full of locally rendered animal fats for cooking.. amazing.
Excellent shopping experience. Haiku fish is one of the best in the bay area. Market hall produce has seasonal and excellent produce. Paul Marcus wine can help you find just the right bottle. Marin sun farms has great meats and poultry. I especially love the pasta shop, for cheese, charcuterie, and all of the staples I need. Add the bakery and coffee, and its one stop shopping without the supermarket experience.
This is a collection of speciality food retailers. Coffee, Cheese, Wine, Seafood, Artisanal Butcher, Produce Shop, and a few others. The Seafood and Butcher share a comfortable space, the produce shop has its own crowded space. The rest share one great space, but its very crowded. All the stuff here is considered "upscale" and hence significantly more expensive than similar products purchased elsewhere.A few years back, the correct description would be "Yuppie grocery Nirvana".I think the place survives despite the high prices due to its proximity to the Rockridge BART station - right across the street! So for many people, the ability to merge shopping and commuting offsets the high prices. The only reason I go is the Meat shop. When I want a large selection of high quality meats coming from farms that respect animals - and Im putting on any kind of special meal - this is where I buy my meat.
Quality over quantity is key here is the selection of high end foods is very impressive. Produce is always impeccable, delicious espresso drinks and I would highly recommend ordering from the premade menus during the holiday season. Hard to go wrong here, unless youre on a tight budget.
Grocery and winery with very good selection of fine food and wines. You can find some imported cheese a bit hard to find elsewhere and home made pasta at the pasta shop. The winery has also a great selection of imported wines, while if youre looking for local wines Id prefer other places. Of course a bit pricy, but worth some times.
