Inner tubes & rafts for floating the Guadalupe River, plus a return shuttle & campground.
It’s very worth it to take a trip from Austin to Rockin R. Plenty of parking, option to ride a bus from the Rockin R store/ pay station to the start and end of the river. The river was very clean. I brought my own tube since the rentals did not have a head rest.
Do not waste your time! They used to be great but a ton of ridiculous rules that make no sense! Go down the street and support the other businesses! Also if your going to have a store please stock it!
It was pretty fun, wrong time of the year because of lack of rain. But this is always fun in some way.
It was a wonderful experience. The inner tube kayak was awesome! The only negative was I waited about 40 minutes for someone to pick me up at the end of the day but to be fair it was just me. The guy that came to get me was super friendly.
Had great time! Fun for all including kids. Great way to beat the heat... but a little pricey.
Expensive but very fun and the service was worth the price. Tips for newbies like me. Take water shoes. Bring rope and a hat. And lift your butt on the rapids or you hit them hard. You might have to get someone to push you to guide you or get a paddle.
Good operation - just not honest. River was low and flow was slow - specifically asked about conditions and was told otherwise. Will do homework next time and not use this service.
The process to purchase and then get your rentals was a little much. We had to wait in line to wait in line which was a little annoying. Not sure if there was an event causing this or if this was normal but besides that it was great. The float was good, parking was easy and the tubes were good.
You will have so much fun on the raft or tube. Staff is great. There is transportation from the parking lot to where you pay for the raft or tube. The river is relaxing. You can stop and take a swim. If you are like me and dont know anything about rafting, you will end up bumping into people, but overall you will have a lot of fun.
Its too bad zero stars is not an option, because thats what they deserve. Their website clearly states, "call ahead of time to find out age restrictions." I was going to hangout for a friends birthday on the bank and I called ahead of time and was told I could have my 2 year old daughter with me hanging out on the banks as long as shes not IN the water. I arrive and am told this same information by an employee on a golf cart in the parking lot. As im walking in, I am stopped by what I was told was the supervisor.. She turns me around saying I can not be there with my daughter, not even in a chair on the banks. What is advertised as a family friendly establishment was all but friendly to my family. I will not be returning to this area, and as a new braunfels resident who frequents the rivers I will urge anyone not to bring their business here either.
Parking lot has a few shade spots but is mostly super hot black asphalt. River access is ok.
It was around $50 to go down a short ways. Most of the river is blocked off because it’s low right now. (Summer 2022)They will keep your keys and cards for you while you go down the River. There’s a gift shop too. They tell you to go right, right, left, left because the rocks are easier that way. I recommend getting a tube with a bottom so you don’t drag *** all the way down the rapid parts. The rocks are rough when the river is low. Some people will get an extra tube for their ice chest which is a great idea. I recommend bringing a thermos with water, extra sunblock, and a hat at least because I got super sunburned in just one hour. We went around 1:00-2:00 and there was some shade, but I still managed to get burn where I didn’t have enough sunblock.Overall, we had a lot of fun. Once you get to the end there’s a bus that will take you back to your car for free. You can tip the golf cart and bus drivers. Great experience, they can’t help that we are going through a drought.
Floating is amazing. The staff is great! My only suggestion is a sign to explain what to do after arriving.
The three female staff who take over the tube are very unfriendly. When I went, they didnt even say hello, they were just chatting. And they asked me if I could swim, and I said I couldnt, so they told me to go somewhere else.
Every time we come float the river we go through Rockin R! We bring our own tubes, ice chest and cooler float and all we have to do is buy the shuttle ride back to the parking lot! The river is so beautiful and they have their shop set up in the cutest little spot! I definitely recommend it for first time floaters too because they have a map and will tell you what turns to take to avoid any crazy rapids or wipeouts!
We had a GREAT time for our first Guadalupe tubing trip! Convenient, wonderful staff, super easy! Cooler tube a must! We also brought small umbrellas with carabiner to clip to tube for shade, saved us from some sunburn!! We will definitely return! Thank you Rockin R!!
Great river float service! We were able to rent everything we needed to float the river. Due to low water, it took about 4 hours to float the river and we got off at the Rocking R river exit and were shuttled back to our car. There are bathrooms, sunscreen, and non-alcoholic drinks at their store.
Our favorite place to rent tubes from. Great facility and employees. If you rent a raft you can go further down the river. Very peaceful and relaxing every time.
Meh. $89 for two-person, flat-bottomed "kayak". $400 total for the 9 of us. Harder to steer than anything Ive ever used in over 20 years of being on Americas waterways. Seemed like the darn thing wanted to be sideways more than anything else. I watched this happen to most everyone who used them. Tubes would be better but the water was very low. I feel like there are far better spots to tube in Central Texas for far less money.
The staff were amazing and so sweet and helpful. Love their private exit, so much safer and better than the other public exit. I would recommend them to anyone!
Loved our time on the river. Service was excellent. Tubes are great quality. Everyone was really friendly.
A different day.super spectacular place to share with family and friends.where you can enjoy nature in all its splendor. you can not lose this.the staff was very good, clean bathrooms, a large parking lot and fair prices.
The river was slow so moving we had to paddle. The 2 hour ride took about 3 and a half. Good company though.
So we accidentally went to this one. You do need to pay for parking and sign a waver. They hold onto your ID and car keys when you rent a tube. It was a lot of fun and you can tie the tubes together. Bottomed tubes are mainly used for coolers. They do have tubes with handles that have smaller openings for kids. They also have an air pump if you need it and near the air pump are also life vests. Theres also no wondering where the end is because there are big signs on the trees so you cant miss it. I would go back. It was a great find.
Awesome time. The river is a little low right now but it is a beautiful and fun experience. There are three "rapids" that add a little excitement and plenty of places to stop and swim if you desire. I did this trip in just over two hours.
It was a fun way to spend the afternoon. Water levels were low and there really was no current. We had to swim down down stream. Was a little out off by the can ban too. Didnt realize that until after wed packed the cooler and arrived.
Had an awesome time floating down the river with my family! My wife really enjoyed it.
Everything was going great until the near end we started seeing snakes(Water MoccasinWhich is EXTREMELY Fatal if they bite you . The people i was with including me were scared to death. But luckily the exit was just a few feet away and you bet we peddled as fast as we could away from the trees and bushes/shrubs And we were only at the start imagine what could have happened if we weren’t looking or continued going?! The people behind us even had seen a couple snakes .When we left we stopped at the showers we thought they were in the restrooms but NO they had to be outside where EVERYONE could see you . If you going to offer river services at least warm them about stuff that could potentially kill you. Would NOT recommend
It was simple and it was fun. Super easy to set up and the water was great some parts were shallow but truthfully that only added to the fun. The place wasnt packed and I genuinely had a great time and would love to come back it was quite a drive to get there and even still I am considering going back. Give it a try and enjoy you can really make it what you want its life on water.
The float was nice as was the option of the larger rafts. However, they forgot us as the last pick up spot and we waited for over an hour to get picked up and nobody would answer the phone at the office. It was almost dark when they finally picked us up and when we asked why nobody would answer the phone when we were calling after no pick up they would not even answer us.
We had a Great time floating here. There are a lot of fun rapids and they rent out inflatable kayaks. Just remember to bring about 15 dollars cash for Parking.
The float was nice, but shortly after start the rented tube got deflated because of a leak. The company refused to issue any refund on that tube citing "natural factors" and telling us we should have floated back up the river to get a replacement. Ruined the experience of our group!
It was packed but it was fun, there was shade.theyvhad a trailer for restrooms and very clean, the staff were very nice, lots of tubes blue n black ones, the water was warm on the river not deep....they had an area to sit and eat.lots of parking, very clean they open at 10am.. we left at 8pm...they have a $27 per son ride on the river in a tube n they wait and bring you back...but river is free..we loved it 👌👍❤️❤️❤️
Had a great experience here. The facilities were excellent and the process was very efficient and easy. Thanks for accommodating our group despite us bringing a massive tube.
Busy busy tube rental place! Nice folks! The place is at a beautiful location on the Guadalupe River, as you can tell by the picture below.
They rent rafts and tubes for the river and will also pick up at the take out point if you dont already have someone there. Will use again
We rented their kayaks which were very nice inflatable kayaks. We went early to get ahead of the crowds. The river was beautiful.
We had so much fun, a slow float down a extraordinarily beautiful river, canopied with lush trees and greenery. Highly recommend the experience. Our group had 6 y/o to 60 year old people - everyone had fun. The fee was $25 for tube and ride back OR $20 for just the ride. Tubes were ok, staff was very nice - ride back was quick and easy, they were patiently waiting for us at the end!
We had a great time!! The river ride was beautiful and so much fun!
It was so so many people there. The water was nice and cool that you didnt even realize that it was hot outside. This was my first time going there and even tubing.I would like to go back and do it again.
Very relaxing trip down the river. Float your toes and have a beer.
Rocking River is like a natural water park for adults with many options to have a good time. They have place to eat and other amenities.
Tube went flat a few minutes into the float. I was in no mans land and sunk....10$ for parking was also a turnoff. Made us get off the river after 2 hours even tho we paid for 5.
Love love love this float!!! I also love that they dont allow disposables so that you cant trash the river. So definitely make sure you bring your own reusable bottles 💜
Last day of warm weather and it was the perfect day to be on the river! We cant wait to go tubing again next year when their back open.
Rockin R Gruene has to be one of the most organized river outfits. July 4th weekend....and at 11am...it was of course jam packed....but it was not a problem.Great flow, and super organized!!!!Highly recommend....the only thing I would have changed would have been getting a bottom on my float.Would absolutely return!!!
Rockin R is awesome! Super easy to rent tubes and rafts. Was a lot of people the day we went but didnt have to wait long at all. They take your group to the drop off point and then pick you up later and bring you back to your car. Super easy and pricing is very reasonable. Will definitely be back next time were in town.
This is our 3rd time going here. We come to New Braunsfels with our own kayaks, but we rent the raft kayaks with Rock N R everytime. They float better on the rapids and are way easier to get in and out...plus the employees do all the work to make it easy and convenient!!!Their van brings you up the river and you float down for approximately 3 hours. There see sveral mild sets of rapids that are fun and safe for all ages. We enjoy the relaxing river, with our music and drinks (not in a can or disposables!!!The scenery is so serene and breathtaking. Wildlife, including birds, deer and other animals, roam the area, making the photo ops great. So natural and calm. The workers at RocknR are always friendly and helpful. We never have to wait long at all. The store inside RocknR is awesome, too! Beer on tap, drinks in coolers, really nice summer clothes, and a few other cool things. We will continue making it a part of our trip to float the Guadalupe!
I loved the place it was awesome. Besides having a small mix up with campers stealing our paid spot and taking years to move it was pretty good. The 8hr ride is a must but give yourself plenty of time before it gets dark to enjoy and see all of it. Definitely do not bring a smart watch I lost mines from the rough ride.😂😂Theres a lot of nice spots to stop off on like fallen Logs and low water areas(water was lower than usual this time).Theres actually not any waterproof cases at this location only "water resistant". So if it goes under for more than a few seconds and the rapid water takes your phone itll likely get a little water in it.Solution:Opt for a IXP 8 waterproof case or bag. They sale these at the BUC-EES Store down the street ! Trust me its a lifesaver and it floats. Much better than the high priced ones from Walmart or Rockin R River Rides.ConsYou might have to encourage quiet hours after 12 some people might want to still party or get drunk (relatable😂🍺🍻😍. But the rules are rules. I calmly asked my drunk camp neighbors to shut off their music about twice and they obliged. They need a officer riding on a boat or kayak to patrol for weed I smelled it twice from two areas made my eyes melt last week but I still enjoyed the whole experience! Man this was awesome and I hope this review definitely helps.
The staff was super nice. We love going down the river. I have not done this since college year. We spent about 4 hours down the river. Some part of the river was very slow. Over all, we love it. Checkout Groupon before you go, they usually have it on sale per person.
