All-you-can-eat spot with sushi & Japanese dishes served on conveyor belts in a contemporary space.
I love to go to Rock n Rolls for lunch and it is always a good experience! Clean and friendly staff. There is one employee who always takes the time to check on the customers and is very kind. I believe her name is Michelle. She is always very friendly and has a smile on her face. She always talks to my son, who loves that! Its nice to have a place to go to get unlimited sushi and friendly faces! I will continue to go, quite frequently!
I was very impressed with the freshness, quality, and the way the sushi was plated with an unique styling. The conveyor belt system of food delivery was awesome.
Honestly a really pleasant experience. It was good sushi! And very little interaction with waitstaff which was great for a lowkey dinner out. It’s not top shelf quality but it’s not top shelf pricing either- you get what you pay for. The negative reviews were expecting too much
Very unique and creative sushi served from a conveyor belt. Also greeted by great staff.
We had such a great experience here with the all you can eat conveyer belt experience. I like sushi, but, I’m always nervous to purchase rolls I’ve never tasted before. This experience gave me the opportunity to try whatever I want and it was all great!
Pre-covid, this place was an alright experience. Sushi is definitely sub-par, but for $10.99, you could overlook the quality. The experience for me on 7/27/2022, will be my last, At $17.99 a person and $2.50 a drink. Of the 10 different rolls on the conveyor, only 5 were anything anyone in the restaurant wanted. Many plates sat on the conveyor the entire time we were there, just getting dizzy behind the glass. We did order spring rolls from the ipad, they were pretty quick to come around, but like everything else they were small and subpar. It was fun while it lasted Rockin Rolls.ps. Dont get the sweet tea, its so sour it will turn your mouth inside out. Stick with soda or something from the cooler if you must go.
Sushi is ok. Could have had more options, especially some sashimi options. Was also expecting better service and a better dine-in feel. The staff was acting way too busy and they only came once to pick up the dishes. We had a big pile of dishes on the table that no one was picking up.Another thing they should do is ask if people are coming into their place for the first time and tell them a little bit about the experience and where everything is. All they were concerned about was getting the money and giving us a table number. Not A Good Experience.
The place was sanitary, but that’s honestly the only positive about it. Literally the worst sushi I’ve ever put in my mouth. Gas station quality at best. Actually, I won’t disrespect gas stations like that. Even if you’ve never made sushi, you’re better off making it at home. Beyond the poor quality, off cuts of fish they use, nothing on the conveyor belt is even fresh. We also ordered from their made-to-order entrees and were extremely disappointing. The hibachi steak was so disgusting I couldn’t make it past the first two bites. If you have tastebuds, or even if you don’t, do yourself a favor and don’t come here. This place left me wishing I’d just stayed home and cooked.
Not the best sushi in the world but it was delicious nonetheless. My kids LOVE it.
Its a conveyor belt of infinite sushi, whats not to love? Go hungry and see how many little dishes you can stack up, then go home deeply regretting what you did.Set expectations, its bulk sushi that theyre making as fast as they can. Its not stellar, but Ive had far worse. They also have a touch screen where you can order hot dishes and sides. Great spot to bring friends from out of town if theyve never been to something like this.Sometimes if a bunch of large tables are seated further up the line, you may be upset watching them completely clear out all the good rolls. Eventually what you want will make it to you though.Prices arent nearly as good as they used to be, but the same can be said for literally everything.
Driving to Raleigh and stopped in for Sushi. Walked in and was told there was a 25 minute wait. Gave my number and waited with Family for 30 mins. Received a texted walked in after two other families walked in. They immediately receive tables, as I walk up to the woman I stated I received a text. She started to apologize and says I’m sorry there was a mix and proceeds to tell us to wait as the other families sits down. Tell us it will be a couple of minutes and a family should get up soon. Still nothing as we’re standing in the MIDDLE of the restaurant. Not worth the drive here. Completely disappointed in the way staff handled this. Definitely won’t be stopping by ever again
Great price for lunch. Food is good. People are nice. Would go again.
My wife and I discovered this place by accident. Been here twice in a week and just had to return with family! Pay at the front once and it is literally all-you-can-eat.Friendly staff, A+ quality, and fun environment with conveyor belt style serving for rolls plus on-demand appetizers. Come hungry, leave *stuffed*. Truly a gem.
I enjoy eating at Rockin rolls. Is ~$20 a bit steep for ~40 pieces of mediocre sushi and a drink? I dunno, maybe, maybe not. Will that stop me from coming to stuff my face when I want a long lunch? No it will not. Would be nice if there was a little more variety but Ill definitely be back again.
I love the place, love raw but I dont understand why its more on Sunday. Theres nothing extra and thats the only day we are all off so it stops us from going. Were great tippers and easy customers. Talking with others, many agree. Youre hurting your profits.
As a customer you are penalized if you want to order anything to go. All sauces are free if you dine in but if you want some for what you ordered to go, they charge...EVEN though you are paying a lot more for sushi ţo go than anyone that dines in. Would not come back here in principle alone. Its NOT OK to treat customers this way.
Service and food are amazing. You can stuff yourself full of great sushi at a reasonably priced buffet. And the staff are so kind and understanding. I came with a party of 12 during the Saturday dinner rush and they got us in in 20 minutes and were super kind with bringing food and stuff. Absolutely worth it, one of the best places in Durham to get lunch or dinner.
The food was good but we had a lot of things that went wrong. First thing was we where not getting the food we were ordering off the iPad. We would order it and some time it might come but most of the time it would not show up. I believe it was the guy that was bringing out the hot food on the cart. He looked like he didnt care if you got it or not. He was very unpleasant and looked very disengaged. Like every one there was getting on his nerves. The place has a great concept, but there are flaws in how you get your food. Great price also.
Simply amazing! The front desk lady with the short blonde hair was very accommodating and polite. 22 bucks for all you can eat good quality sushi. I love the conveyer belt grab and eat service and you can order more stuff from the table ipad. I dined alone and felt very comfortable reading with no worries. Thank you!
A fun place to eat with family and friends. The quality of sushi isn’t the best, BUT you do get quantity and the fun of enjoying sushi together. The conveyor belt system makes the meal special. They are constantly cranking out the food, so it is fresh and everyone seems to be happy and full at end of meal. Our favorite rolls are the Richmond, Volcano, Naughty crab and Las Vegas.
Cute idea. Nice staff. But the food is not good. Basically $20 a person for all you can eat VERY BAD sushi AND hibachi. Would not recommend. Save your money!
This was not a good visit. We waited almost an hour before a good selection of sushi made it on the conveyor belt. The only sushi that kept passing by was the banana one, crab on rice and veggie rolls. When my daughter ordered her appetizer it took over 30 mins for them to bring it out to her. Mine never came until I mentioned it to the manager. Then by the time I got my appetizers I felt like I had to rush and eat them because the place was closing. It was a waste of money, a waste of time and I will not be going back to this location any time soon. Highly disappointed.
Its a buffet with a good selection. It was a fun place to visit and Ill for sure go back. The staff was nice, food was fresh and the bathroom was clean. The sushi goes by on a conveyor, you pick what you want. You can also select appetizers and entrees to add to your meal. There are lots of sauces to pick from, miso soup and other items. Definitely worth the money.
The food is mediocre and fairly pricey so this is definitely not the place to come for fine dining, but my kids (5 and 9absolutely love the conveyor belt concept. They love grabbing the food and passing it to everyone. I dont think they would love sushi otherwise, but now they do, and its all because of this place. Now we can take them to any sushi place, and they love to eat it. This isnt a regular place for us, but it is something the kids really look forward to.
Absolutely a must try experience! A bit different from the sushi go around in Japan, since you pay one set price, but just as yummy. Fresh assorted sushi pieces and a nice salad bar. Perfect place to learn which sushi rolls you enjoy the most.
First time visiting. Seen on Tik Tok someone review and decided to drive over and hour to try! All you can eat hibachi and sushi! 2 adults ate for under $50 with tip! You order appetizers, hibachi or teriyaki meals, and kids meals on the screen at your table and they bring it out to your table. The sushi comes around on a conveyor belt and it is all different kinds, 4 rolls to a plate. You get your sauces, soup and some appetizers and deserts on an open cart. Definitely worth the hype we seen and will be back for sure!! Give it a try! Everything we had was delicious!
I always liked this place and I still do but the price increases have become too much. I used to come here and pay 13-14 dollars with a drink. It cost me almost 22 with a drink today. It is one thing to do 6-8 dollar price increases but to also downgrade quality feel like a rip off to customers. Some sushi pictures show one thing and then the actual sushi will be stuffed with tempura flakes, larger portions of cream cheese/veggies, and thinner sliced salmon. I actually thought the cream cheese tasted spoiled and the sushi was room temp. I don’t know it is just disappointing and doesn’t make me want to come here anymore.
Perhaps one of the most interesting concepts Ive seen in a long time. Clean, friendly and so much food. For one person, you eat all you want of EVERYTHING! The food is too tier, which makes it interesting. This isnt your corner store sushi: this is fantastically made by a team that clearly cares.
Great price for all you can eat! Comes down a conveyor belt at your bar or booth seating, just snag what you want. Hot appetizers or hibachi are prepared when ordered. Sushi was made fresh and very good, only reason for 4 stars is that it is not as good as some higher end sushi restaurants. Dont let that deter you as I would definitely visit again!!!
Always a good time here. The service is good. Employees are friendly. I cant even tell you the selection, you just have to go. Never been disappointed with food, always hot and delicious. No soup BTW. We live almost 1.5 hrs away so when we come to Durham we make it a point to stop ( sometimes its the main reason). We also have a game of leaning tower of plates 🤣
I dont usually leave reviews but this warrents one. Sushi is all you can eat but sub-par for any amount of money, let alone the $20 paid (post tip/tax). As an example the "cheesecake" was a cheap vanilla sponge with coconut on top, no sign of cheese anywhere. The atmosphere was distinctly reminiscent of Freddies Fun Park, with yelling children and Spotify ads over the sound system. To cap is off, the bathroom faucet was broken, pretty badly. I would not recommend this place for anything more than ~$10. If you want unlimited sushi just go to Mr. Tokyo, where its $21 for all you can eat and is actually good sushi with good service.
Don’t come here looking for premium quality sushi... this is the place to go when you want to stuff your face with a lot of different options. The sushi is great for an all you can eat price, and the iPad ordering makes it easy to stay socially distanced. Order as many times as you want until you’re full! This is a great place to study or get a little work done and just keep the snacks rolling. I look forward to the conveyor belt starting up again, but for now the service is quick, efficient, and friendly!
IT has been awhile since I updated this review but needs so.This sushi establishment is amazing. Reminiscent of the revolving sushi shops in Japan this sushi restaurant brings that theme to the U.S.- All the dish options are fresh and regularly removed and updated.- All you can eat for a fair price compared to some buffet style restaurants- Ease of access in ordering your own fresh sushi or Asian meal items. If you love sushi would highly recommend and definitely will be back to eat.
Love this place tried it for the first time today for lunch. Its awesome! The vibe is really chill. It is all you can eat for a really good price. Its set up where you sit down and theres conveyer belts going around the whole restaurant and you open your little window and grab what you want to eat. They have a variety of rolls and nigiri. The sushi tastes fresh and they also have a few vegetarian options. They also have a condiments area to get your soy sauce, sriracha, wasabi, etc. Theres also edamame, crab salad, scallions, and other toppings by the condiments. Theres also an ipad where you can order appetizers and hit food entres which are also all you can eat!! On the ipad they also have a kids menu. Someone then brings it out to your table fresh! Will definitely come back !
so fun. It is setup like fast food. Get your own drink and sauces. Miso soup is from a machine with add ins on a bar. The sushi was good with a nice selection we got there just before it got busy and the conveyor was well stocked the whole time. The hard part was eating slow.
Wow! Thats a lot of food for $11! I ate a little bit of everything. I think my friend and I came in at a grand total of 32 plates. 😂 Im so ashamed. But the tools were great. Even the little dessert cakes were yummy. And the music makes the atmosphere! Ill definitely visit this place again!
Low quality sushi but, good for your $$. Only $10 to do buffet with fountain drink. Has TONS of options including miso soup, edamame, fruit, desserts, and many sauces. Good to relax for a few hours with friends and try new types of Sushi. Has very pretty decoratives and lovely workers. Try when you want something new!
I think that for the price its a great deal. Ive never been to a restaurant like this before, but it was self-explanatory. You pay first ($13.85 with 15% tipand they give you a number that corresponds with a table. You pick your items as they pass you on the conveyor belt. Some of the options were spring rolls, beef gyoza, spicy tuna roll, and California roll. You could also get miso soup and seaweed salad. The desserts included cake and fruit. Drinks were sold separately. I think it was a fun experience, but the sushi quality was not fantastic, but it was more like grocery store sushi from Harris Teeter. I think for the price and ambience, it was great.
If you LOVE SUSHI THIS IS THE PLACE!!!!! I LOVE this place!! Food is fresh every time & the place is very clean & the servers are kind & sweet. They have a side area where the fountain drinks are have seedweed & snow peas & cheesecake & coffee cake (my personal favoriteToday I met Miss Pam (mangershes lovely as everyone else. Yes they have fried & raw sushi. The spring rolls are good & love the dumpling yummy! Its soooo good that Im willing to drive in traffic for & drive 1 way for over 40 mins. Hope you enjoy it too!
Favorite new spot! Sushi great. Atmosphere fun. Price very good. We love this sushi spot, I mean all you can eat $10.99 per person. The kids love how the sushi comes around on the conveyor and you just open your table side window and pick a plate. For us the variety is sufficient, some raw and some cooked sushi clearly marked on the card next to each type of sushi. We were offered chicken nuggets and fries for the kids but they were more interested in the sushi and that was complimentary no charge. Its a very relaxed place to you just get to your table no worry about a server just kick back and try some different types of sushi. Overall a unique experience and did I say all you can eat without the buffet line.
I really neat experience everyone should try! A variety of good sushi brought to your booth on a communal conveyor belt. The sushi is certainly not the best, but I would not call it bad. However, the seaweed salad I had today was bad. Aside from the funny seaweed, all the foods I had today were between good and great. The fresh fried beef gyoza dumplings are simply awesome! Be sure to have patience for these dumplings! The atmosphere inside is kinda vaporwave aesthetic - its cool. I had low expectations from the food quality reviews of others, but I left happy and glad I came.Recommend as a couples place or a small group of friends - or there is single dining seats.Favorite sushi rolls:Volcano rollPhilly rollSpicy tuna rollEel rollUnexpectedly bland sushi rolls:California rollNaghty crab rollSpecial shout: beef gyoza dumpling.
The sushi here is awesome and its only $10.99 for all you can eat! It comes out on a conveyor belt and you just grab what you want! I will definitely be visiting this place again!
Sushi was good but not the best i’ve had. However, you cannot beat the value of this sushi buffet. Probably one of the cheapest i have seen. I really like the concept of conveyor belt. We did not have to wait for sushi since there was plentiful available on the belt all the time.
If youre looking for a good place to get all you can eat sushi, then this of the place for you! The price is definitely reasonable! They have a decent variety, but nothing super crazy. Pretty much just your standard sushi rolls. There are also non-sushi items, like crab rangoon, spring rolls, miso soup and a few sweet items! They have two different conveyer belts and if it starts to get busy and they only have one side open, the wait can be a little long.
Great place for a great sushi experience at a great price. You can tell a good restaurant by the line. You can tell an authentic ethnic restaurant is good when lots of people of that ethnic group patronize it. Thats the case here.Booths are a bit tight for 4 but workable. Sashimi was good but Id like more options such as octopus.Rolls are mostly standard combos. A couple stand out as amazing.Richmond roll, and Volcano roll comes out Hot! Both are delicious.Spicy tuna is kindo of mashed, not a slice of sashimi. The other bottleneck is self-serving the drinks, condiments, sides like seaweed salad. Pretty much one person at a time.
I have been here just the one time and it was pretty nice. Sushi was decent quality and flowed constantly. Very little waiting for dishes to be replenished. Like every all you can eat the amount of rice on the sushi is excessive in order to fill you up. The quality of the rice was also questionable, but for the price of one supermarket roll you can eat at this place so the value is definitely there. They have fruit as a desert option which is nice to have. Not just sugary cheap desert options. Overall a great find for me. I will return. Oh, volcano roll was pretty good, and so was the angry crab.
Price is the main draw here. The set up is cool, the sushi is good. You will be full quick. The set up around the beverage station could be better and the edamame is served cold & unsalted.
The presentation is very cool, with conveyor belts sending sushi past your table where you can grab what you want, but I was surprised that some of the rolls were really not appealing. They definitely have some that are good, or at least interesting, but there is not a huge variety and only less than half I would say were tasty. It’s a cool experience for the price, but nothing mind blowing.
I’ll give it 5 stars. I went to this place because I was listening to the radio and they said it was an All-you-can-eat sushi place and I had never gone to one. I got to the restaurant with my mom and my sister. My mom doesn’t like Sushi, they didn’t make us pay for her even though she was sitting with us, they didn’t chase us or stalk us while eating as other AYCE places, the fact that they trusted us I loved. Sushi is incredibly good, you get a good and varied selection of sushi rolls (my faves). Also you can create your own salad with wakame, kanikama, etc. You have eel sauce, spicy mayo, sweet mustard...The place in general is pretty clean, the staff is nice and the ambiance good!!I’ve recommended everyone because I loved it and I’m looking forward to going back!!!
Cleanliness 5/5. Tables were clean. Utensils are plastic forks/wooden chopsticks never used before. Plastic cups too. No worry of leftover food particles.Price 5/5. How can anyone complain about $10.99 All You Can Eat sushi (drink not includedfreshly prepared right in front of you?Service 4/5. I found it odd tipping before I received my meal or any service whatsoever. In fact, no one even stops by to clear your plates away until you leave. You serve your own drinks I guess as well - because no server ever offered to refill our waters. I suppose the tip is shared over all by the preparers and busboys/girls.Quality 4/5. While boasting 50 different types of available sushi on their website and Yelp description, we only counted 16 on the conveyor belt during our entire meal. Maybe during the busiest times is when they bring out everything they have to offer? However we went at 6pm on a Friday so Im not sure. For the price and the taste you cant complain too much. We will definitely be back!
