Rockfish Seafood Grill in Lubbock

Weve eaten here before and had no problem. I expect it was the crowding with the Christmas rush that provided a few mishaps this time. We ordered an appetizer plate. The calamari was cooked just right. The three cheese spinach dip was excellent, and the volcano shrimp surprised me. I dreaded the thought that flames would shoot out of both of my ears with the first bite, but I found the shrimp to be reasonable spiced, not burn off eyebrows prior to entering mouth hot.

Service wasnt the best, the kitchen actually forgot a plate off my order. Really sad because this used to be one of my favorite seafood joints. Was way better when they were by the mall.

Highly disappointed, portions were small, drinks were eeeeehhhhh ya know, may as well have ordered water...Way overpriced. Nice,quiet,environment, and now I know why. Server was nice and polite.

Our server was awful. She acted like she didnt want to be there. She messed up our drink order and left it sitting on the bar for 20 minutes at least. The food was good!

Drastically different than the old location. Our Service was fine. But that was most likely to do with the fact we were only 1 of 3 total customers in the whole restaurant. The food was pretty gross and you could tell it was made with cheap ingredients. I am a big eater, I always finish my food. This was the first time I could not, this was due to how it tasted. Very dissatisfied.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food but the real compliment should go to our server Chris...not only did he greet us upon arrival with a smile and a warm welcome, but he also took the time to explain menu options and answered all of our questions as well which was very helpful...once again awesome job, we will definitely be back next time we are in the Lubbock area!!

The food was good. Staff was very pleasant. Really enjoying the new menu items. The manager was nice to show us how to eat crawfish!!!!!!

Food was delicious, but the service was outstanding. Since i am allergic to milk, the waiter went out of his way to find me dishes that contained no milk.

The service was horrible. Appetizer came out 40 min. After ordering and wrong, ordered a salad and it came out with the meal and not the appetizer, didn’t get a refill till the food came out and waitress was no where to be seen except ordering, dropping food off, and paying. Place was very dead for lunch time only 2 people in there. Waitress was literally missing in action the whole time and high out of her mind. Never going again. Fish was very fishy no rinsing off before seasoned, crawfish was tasteless and rubbery, potatoes where hard as raw carrots, and the salad was the only thing tasty

The food is always very delicious. But the employees work ethics are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. The last 3 visits the Waiters & Waitresses all have served us as if it was there 1st day on the job.

First time I have been there. I had the shrimp poor boy. It was really good and hot. The sauce was they use was really good. The service was a little slow, but they were nice. Yes I will eat there again.

Sara our waitress had to be the slowest single tasked server I have ever had. Nothing was of importance to her as everyone was on their lunch hour, I could go on and on....but if youre in no rush shes your girl! The bartender....all I can say is wow they literally didnt require any experience, and especially at the lunch hour! Ladies and gentleman I have no idea what happen to rock fish, but the quality of service and importance of getting the customer in and out didnt move with them from their slide location. The restaurant itself is like eating at furrs or golden corral. Wont be coming in again sorry Rockfish... step up because ppl are stepping out.

So, the negative reviews posted are a sham. Trust me, if they were accurate Id let you all know! Food was amazingly delicious. Well prepared and a good portion. I loved how clean the restaurant was and spacious.The vibe was relaxed and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. Now, am not saying that some patrons may not have had a bad experience. However, we all know that experience varies. Also, restaurants often improve upon their selections as time goes on.Perhaps this place once served tasteless food. Those days would seem to be far behind them. Eating is one of my favorite things to do, go eat #America. Youll enjoy it.

Rockfish is always offering a wide variety of different dishes. Seafood choices are very good, even with it being texas. The crab cake is even better than Legal seafoods, all crab and very little breading. In the area, check it out.

I always hate going back and editing my reviews, but I have to. I had a to go order and the three cheese dip they gave me is so small compared to the in store version. For $6 I should get the same amount no matter what. Also, be careful if you do anything to go from here as they will leave things out and give you the wrong items. I got unsweetened tea and I came back in for something else and the girl who got them ran into the back to tell her friends that she gave me sweet tea and didnt want to deal with it.

The remodel after Ruby Tequilas is a great success. Very pleasant atmosphere with daily happy hour from 3-7pm. I had the lunch special Shrimp Po Boy and a cup of gumbo. Good value for $10, and split the $10 calamari appetizer with fried okra and shishito peppers. Enjoy this new location across from the Texas Tech football stadium, right next to Starbucks on University Ave.

Came here with my family. Food was excellent, definitely exceeded our expectations. Staff was super friendly and actually gave her recommendations which we tried and were very happy with. Highly recommend and will be back!

Havent been here since they moved, it was AMAZING! My Ahi tuna and my wifes salmon was excellent, the sides were amazing! This might be our new go to restaurant.

Very bad service and lying to me. As the other review said, long wait. I saw the server stopped by other tables for multiple times. But she stopped at my table only once. I ran out of drink long before she stopped by. After I was done, I had to wait for more than 20 minutes before I had to garb another server to get the check. I talked to the server and manager and they argued that she was the only server. This was a lie. I saw other servers serving other tables at the same time.

Disappointed in the new location. Food was not as good as the older location and the prices were higher. The menu has changed and the setting was not nearly as nice. IOur server didnt really seem to care if we were there or not. Probably wont be back

My group went right before a big college football game. We got very good service even though they were very busy, mainly the bar. As the name suggests, lots of seafood dishes including fish tacos. Very good food plus live entertainment when we were there.

Long wait. The restaurant was only at about 10% capacity. My lobster sandwich had three chunks of hard shell in it that gave my teeth fits. My side Cole slaw dish was forgotten until I mentioned it. My wife had asparagus and they were skinnier than a pencil, some pale yellow and half of them were woody rendering them unchewable.I wanted the review to be better because the Rockfish in Houston was amazing. We have been to this one several times and there has always been some disappointment.Sorry Rockfish....you need some improvements.

Seemed okay at first. -- Got dinner late, so it was ~10:30pm at arrival. [They close at midnight.- Yeah!]......• Ordered a house wine and a Shiner Bock draft beer.• Ordered the chips and queso. :. Ate one side of the chips down and found a dead fly. [NOTa fruit fly- "house" fly.] :: They did comp the appetizer and served up more cold chips.• Ordered dinners – Ahi Tuna Poke and Sante Fe Tacos [Tilapia fish]. Requested specs on both of these dishes. :° The tacos were specifically requested to be grilled with all sauce on the side. :: They came as well stuffed burritos with the meat fried, sauce not on the side (only sour cream). –– These were enjoyed and tasty.!° The Ahi Poke was Not what I expected for a "Chef Inspired" dinner plate. Thought this would be a tuna steak with sides. [Admitted that I did not realize this was actually a salad; despite the fact that I know and like the song "Poke Salad Annie"] –– Requested no rice and to substitute the "Loaded Smashed Potatoes" with only the potatoes and cheese instead, add spinach in the spring mix of greens, and sauces on the side. Had been told the tuna was cooked. :: The salad came with mostly iceberg/cabbage and romaine looking leaves, maybe two baby spinach leaves and no spring mix as the menu specified. They left the rice in the salad, and the potatoes were not smashed but fried with almost no cheese. The tuna was Not a steak but little, raw looking pieces on the top of the salad. All the veggies were in sections around the top of this salad bowl. Sauces did not come out with the dinner bowl and fried potatoes. Requested them to heat up the whole bowl for a hot dinner. The result was pretty good in taste, and they did bring the sauces.Not near as much meat as I had expected......The appetizer was comped on the ticket (for the fly issue), but first charged for the higher priced wine and extra side item for potatoes.These were corrected......The bartender-server was very friendly and helpful.!!!............I agree with another review in that the old location out performed the new one. °°° = It is new, and likely so is the staffing.___________________________________________________* I would definitely give this another try, but this first experience was mostly unimpressive as far as the establishment and food attendance.* Personal service was excellent.

Waited 15 minutes and not a single waiter came to take our orders or even ask if we wanted drinks. When they were at their old location, this was never a problem. Probably won’t be coming here again.

Some menu items are not as good as the old Rockfish location on Slide Rd. Ordered fried shrimp and it was way overcooked, almost burned. Friend ordered Proseco wine and they were out of it. Husband ordered ribeye steak and got a filet. They brought him a ribeye and it was good. For dessert we ordered bread pudding which was not nearly as good as it used to be and you guessed it, they were out of the sauce! Waitperson, Ashley, was very nice and tried to fix everything.

Calamari appetizer was nice. Enjoyed the wild Alaska salmon. Food was fine, but the new decor is so....grey! Too many cold surfaces and bland decor. Needs a warmer atmosphere without going back to Montana rustic.

We were so disappointed to find out they discontinue their jalapeno chowder. They also supposedly ran out of oysters on the half shell. We had to see ourselves because no one seated us and when we did get waited on the service was terrible. The waiter didnt get any order correct. He didnt even bring me my order after he had asked me about the sauces I wanted with it... terrible, terrible service. I think this was our last trip there after many years of being a biweekly faithful customer.....It has now been two weeks later and I never had any response back from the management when they asked me to contact them immediately after the initial posting. I will not return to the Lubbock nor any of their locations in the future due to lack of interest in their customers. I would now dropped their rating from one star to "NONE" but the posting of this update wont let me!!!!!

The old Rockfish was better. We drove all the way from Midland 125 miles just to eat at our favorite seafood restaurant. Were disappointed to learn that they had moved locations and the menu had changed. We left after being seated never to return.SincerelyEx Customers

You can get some good fish right next to the university. Have been there for a group dinner. Not much crowded, and had some live music on that day. Crab cakes and Alaskan salmon were super good.

Food was really good. Was expecting the place to be clean after moving from Slide location. Looks like bad cleaning habits moved with them also. Bartop was dirty, both mens and womens bathrooms dirty and not from one day it appears to be an ongoing problem.

I miss the old Rockfish off slide and the loop. New place was bad. We sat there for 1 hour waiting on food (with two babies). They tried to pass one plate of tilapia off as catfish, the other plate of fish was very gooey, and another fish plate wasnt even warm. My food came 10 minutes after everyone elses. Apparently our waitress had to shuck my oysters herself. I was also missing my side of asparagus, and when it finally came out it was 4 pieces of thin asparagus in a glass bowl and was very cold. Managers excuse was that the new system relies on communication and not printed computer tickets? Paid and tipped, will not return.

This place has terrible service, we have a group of 9 people plus a 2 yrs old. My husband got his food when everybody’s already finished eating, I got the wrong food, the grilled cod was so tough. I ordered creamed corn for my baby, I waited for almost 1.5hours. No one knows what they are doing! Chaotic! We paid and tipped, but will never return.

Im not sure how people are rating this place if its still underneath Construction. Grand opening is June 25th 2018

This is our special place my wife and I go to for celebratory times because the food is so good we end up spending quite a lot on ordering a feast. Very unique selection of seafood dishes expertly cooked and pieced together. This place does not disappoint!

I use to really like the place, but it seems to of dwindled a bit. They have specials but mostly drink specials now, and for a place that serves fish Id expect a bit of something the chef would recommend. Apparently a waiter at the bar was in training, but to do so on a Saturday isnt a good idea. Plus it took forever for them to get back around to serve a beverage even though I was at the bar. Maybe there just under staffed right now, but Rockfish needs to step up there game. Though the food was still good, the appetizer was mostly fried bread than calamari I ordered.

We were not happy at all. not only was the food high priced but served cold. It was not clean. The widow seal. And blinds where covered in dust thick. And salt and pepper shakers had food and grime on them.

It has been 35 minutes since I have ordered a bowl of crab bisque. Still waiting... The server has disappeared. Update. The bisque arrived lukewarm and starchy. Honestly, this is not bisque. This is a bowl of starch. My husbands redfish was tasteless and cold. We used to like this place. I am not sure well ever come back.

This is favorite restaurant in town. The atmosphere is a little weird, but the food is great and the servers are excellent. Id recommend the crab stuffed flounder. I get it almost every time visit.

Food is very good and server was really good and friendly. The music was sooo freaking loud. Ive heard that if the music is too loud, it means youre too old. Im 70, I guess thats the problem. Im too old to eat there.

I ordered the pick 3 fish platter. The slaw was good. I did not enjoy the fried fish at allMy wife had a salad with shrimp and crab, which she enjoyed. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We waited almost a hr after we ordered to receive our food. The food had a after taste like it had been refrigeratored previously. Overall I paid my bill and decided, I wouldnt be visiting the restaurant again.

Waited over an hour to get a crappy server with no knowledge if what they have in stock. Our glasses ran empty several times and had no utensils to eat with. Only have of our appetizers came out within 45 min of ordering them. We walked in at 715 and at 945 had 1 appetizer. This place is a joke.

Steak and crab cakes were good, the server was prompt. He had his hand full with a table of 16. Wait was quit long at 2 hours but we had a large party on a saturday

A neat little spot, market value fish in a simple menu, or a full menu of chef creations. We had the catfish, shrimp & crawfish which was very good. Shrimp were not very tender, not quite cooked right, which is odd at a seafood restaurant but thats my only complaint. Service was fast and friendly, drinks were kept topped up.

My family and I couldnt decide where to eat because we were new to the area and we were unfamiliar with the locations restaurant scene. We finally decided to stop in to Rockfish as a compromise. Once we entered the restraunt we noticed how laid back and comfortable the décor was and then we were greeted by a lovely hostess who was more than willing to answer all of our questions. Shortly after being seated our waiter arrived with our menus and gave us his recommendations. It didnt take me long to decided what I wanted. The menu was a decent size I didnt feel overwhelmed at all. But I decided to go with the crab stuffed flounder and I dont regret that decision at all. It was a decent price and the portion size was very generous. You could taste how fresh everything was and the care that the chef put into the dishes. Our waiter was ontop of our needs and was extremely friendly. I highly recommend this restraunt to anyone visiting the Lubbock TX area. Enjoy!!

The tower and crab bisque where amazing, tilapia Oscar and rockfish platter where ok. Our server Landon, was very pushy. We werent even have way done with our food or drink and he was trying to push the bill on us. Didnt ask if we wanted dessert, how our food was, if we needed refills. Nothing, placed the tab between us standing up, I moved it over so we could finish our meal and talk and he came over and swooped it up. Pushy gets you $5 on a $79.79 tab... normally tip twice the tax which would have been $14 to $20. thank you Landon for trying to rush us out. Ps. We had an hr and 1/2 till close. To top it off he came and swiped up the card, my husband wanted another drink. I was only half done with mine.

Just ate the fish tacos...Ive had better Filet-O-Fish at McDonalds. I waited 30 minutes for my food on a slow night-there were only five other diners in the bar area while I was there, the tacos were tightly wrapped hiding the burnt fish. Not to mention, the tacos were lukewarm & slightly greasy. The veggies inside the taco, well, they were mostly shredded cabbage with a tiny bit of tomatoes & cheese. The "sauce" didnt touch the raw cabbage. Further there was so little sauce in the taco that only realized it was there when I opened a taco shell to see why my fish tasted so burnt.The ONLY reasons this place gets 3 stars instead of one-1the server was attentive, well-mannered, and communicative 2Ive eaten here before & had much better food.

Im addicted to the fish tacos. These are hands down some of the best fish tacos Ive had. The restaurant gets busy so you might have to wait, but they do a good job of getting people through. The shrimp martini is also to die for.

Been here several times over the past two years. .saving the review until now. Great service and overall good food. Asparagus is undercooked. .sauteed spinach is almost undercooked but very good. Good salmon.. good scallops. .good atmosphere. .for Lubbock. .a very good choice for seafood. .which for west Texas is really good. Definitely recommend it. .a little longer for the asparagus please.
