Rock-n-Sake Bar & Sushi in Baton Rouge

Didn’t have a reservation so the wait was a bit ling for a table. Food was really good, but I feel like the rolls were smaller than some other places I’ve been. Ordered the calamari, as an app and it was amazing. Def worth the wait.

I first visited in 2014, and I fell in love with the Voodoo Queen roll! I haven’t come across anything like it in New York. Staff has always been attentive and friendly.

Stopped in for dinner with our kids and the music was awesomely loud. The food was great too!

Been comming here for years just disappointing you cant get a table for one.Sushi bar was packed and a bunch of empty tables.

Sushi was good. Drinks were good. Definitely on the pricier side. Vibe is nice. Typically fills up fasts we did an early bird special timeframe for dinner and was able to be seated immediately.

Very pricey for what it is. Quality is okay but you’re better off getting better quality for same price somewhere else or same quality for better price at another spot. I will say, our server, Skylar, was great - she was polite, not pushy, recommended drinks and very communicative.

Loved it, I went here for my 21st birthday and it was amazing. The staff was friendly and recommended some delightful options to try out and the sushi was delicious.

Defiantly trendy but some of the young waitresses do not pay attention to the needs of the table

I enjoy the sushi alot, been a long time customer but they apparently dont answer for take out anymore. Ive literally called multiple times at least one day a week for the past 4 weeks and no luck. Maybe if they turn down the music they can actually hear the phone ring.

Im from out of town, so I cant tell you if its the best around, but I can tell you that I loved it!

I came to New Orleans for a conference and wasnt sure where to eat. I couldnt be more pleased with the service, food, and overall atmosphere!

The music was great! I have been to New Orleans several times but it was my first time there, and i enjoyed the food..

This sushi joint is very different from what I’m used to in the northeastern sector of the United States due to the entirely Lily colored staff (sushi chefs included). That being said, the sushi was delicious and the service was solid. A positive experience was had by all. I would go here again if I could ever fair the disgusting weather of New Orleans again in my lifetime.

Do not order on DoorDash even if Google takes you there to place an order. You will order and pay and show up and they will say we don’t do orders through DoorDash and you will question why the site let you and they will say lol idk you can probably get a refund though. And you can but you will have lost an hour of your life.Sushi’s pretty good from another experience there.

Sushi five Stars, service two stars at most. Weird vibes. Asked to sit outside but was told that the tables and chairs out there are just for decoration... also no happy hour or Tuesday specials like the other locations. Again, food is delicious just go to the Metairie location!

This is my favorite sushi joint in NOLA! Only wish they would turn the music volume down just a smidge.

Great food and vibe but very slow service. Seems like the hire on looks and not on any sort of hospitality experience with the wait staff.

The quality of the food is good but its a bit pricey and the portions have gotten smaller compared to photos of other past clients sharing their experience here. We only got 4 gyozas when they used to serve 5 for the same price and the menu they give you only has the expensive rolls and they dont feature the more economic ones that are available on their website. The girls who work in the place are more busy talking with friends than taking care of clients. We were also seated on an unsteady table next to a big pipe and didnt get offered a better table. Again: food was good but I wouldnt come back because the prices and attention are not worth it.

The service at this place is horrible. The young sushi chefs continued to get distracted by women which led to us having to wait a long time for our food. This place reminds me of an outgrown college frat house. We stopped by because there was no wait, but should’ve just gone with the other options around the area instead. The music was obnoxiously loud and the food was not authentic. This was truly my worst dining experience in New Orleans.

Had the beef yaki soba and it was very good. Service was fast & friendly. The other dishes and sushi I saw being served looked excellent as well.

I have a shellfish allergy. Improper food handling led to cross contamination and an allergic reaction. Ive been to quite a few sushi restaurants with no issues of cross contamination.

I don’t post reviews except for the outliers so take that as you will. I’m never going to go back here. Main points: there was a long wait for food, the waiters were understaffed, and in the end I got short-changed on my bill.I ordered 5 items and got one (edamamein about five minutes with three others coming probably 40-50 minutes later (smoked salmon nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, and the garlic salmon roll). The last item, salmon roe nigiri, was out of stock by the time my order was prepared (I don’t know if it would’ve been in stock had my order been prepared earlier).I know times are hard with staffing in the pandemic so I have some sympathy. Paired with what sounds like some recent expansion on the locations for this chain, the service and staff are stretched thin. Wait was probably 20-30 minutes for a seat. It was packed and I wanted a seat at the sushi counter, that’s fine and understandable. Like I said above, my food took a long while. I don’t blame the sushi chefs, they were contending with a large crowd. The two chefs I was sat in front of were actually quite friendly and we talked a good bit about their experiences there, what they would recommend, and even the craft of sushi making. For their attention and recommendations, I couldn’t give this place a one star (thanks Huey and Brad!).The nail in the coffin on my rating was that I was short-changed. My subtotal came out to about $40 and tax to about $4. There’s a credit card fee at a small percentage so I opted for cash. The amount I didn’t get back that I should’ve was less than a dollar so I didn’t wait around to get it back because it was not worth the time. But that red flag among the many before it cemented my review. Don’t mess with what you are returning to customers. And, yes, to preempt any ideas that I might be stingy, I still tipped and I tipped well to those behind the sushi counter.All this said, I have not mentioned the food. The edamame was generous and prepared decently. The garlic salmon roll was actually quite tasty. The yellowtail and the smoked salmon were fresh and decent, too. It is a true shame about the other aspects of the experience dragging my sentiment down.Overall, I would not recommend going here and I will not patronize this restaurant chain again.

Music is a little loud, but if you can get past that, the sushi is pretty good.Gyoza is a must - perfectly light fry on the outside and excellent stuffing, pretty good sized as well.Old fashion is tolerable but with a maraschino cherry and crushed ice.

Not very authentic, but good vibe. I asked for hot tea and they didn’t have it!!!It’s definitely very americanized sushi bar that serves sushis with bunch of mayo etc.over rated and over priced.

The food was very good and we would eat here again. One thing to consider is that the music is very loud. It seemed like the restaurant was trying to keep pace with how loud the people were. I would assume that the wait staff (young ladies with short skirts or very tight leggings and revealing topshelps with the bar crowd and young men that frequent the establishment.

Rock N Sake has always been one of my favorites! The food is always on point and they have such a great variety of beer to choose from.Nyla was our server and she was just the sweetest and such a delight. I had never had her before as a server, but I will be sure to ask for her every time I go back! Dinner was awesome!

Struggling with staffing these days like most places that are open. Was delighted they had Uni and it was great! Staff they do have right now is nice and accommodating (and all prettybut no matter how understaffed or rushed, ya shouldnt serve undercooked chicken- wasnt just "a lil pink"- see pic. Manager did come by and gave us a complimentary mochi dessert and the rest of the chicken not near the bone was fully cooked and delicious.

This place is awesome! The vibe is great and the food is amazing. Service is on point. One of our favorite go to sushi places. Everything is good so you will always be satisfied.

The waitress was very attentive! The chef was also very attentive and nice! Food was really good and cost less than 30$ for filling the tummy (the rice treat was less sweet for my taste but still ok)! I will definitely go there again when I come back to mew Orleans!

My family from NOLA took me here (in Metairieover Thanksgiving. I cannot wait to go back the next time I’m in town. The food was delicious and unique for a Sushi Bar. Since I’m from Houston I would like to suggest you open one here! We have an empty restaurant venue in my Clear Lake City/ NASA neighborhood. I know you would be a hit! Great Sushi rolls! The LSU roll without the cream cheese was a highlight, but they were all good. They also have Japanese Craft beers as well, a little pricey but worth every penny

Had dinner here last night and it was amazing! Service was excellent , atmosphere was awesome and the sushi was exceptional! Definitely will be going back!

I always hate not giving five stars. I would say that many people would consider this a five star place. For me, the music was a bit too loud, we stood waiting to be acknowledged by a hostess for a long time, they still try and push QR code menus which are a pet peeve. The food was good but the service was a bit hit or miss. They couldnt do separate checks which is a must for business travelers. The rolls seemed really small but for once, my group actually finished everything. So I consider that a win. It has a cool looking bar. So seemed like a place for people who dont enjoy the people they are with but just want to listen to decent tunes just loud enough the its hard to have a conversation over.

Best sushi around and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Good service. Great music. Loved it.

This has some of the BEST sushi that is close to the FQ!!! Service was great!! Music was great!! If you dont like loud music (wasnt that baddont dine in. Just get the Amazing food to go!!

LOVED IT!!!!My friends and I were only visiting New Orleans and were recommended Rock-n-Saké for sushi and fun and it didnt disappoint. We went on a Sunday and heard it was even more fun on Saturday.The rolls were amazing!! We ordered off the Specials menu for rolls and not the Regular menu. You dont need to order doubles b/c portions are generous. Delicious, fresh fish and veggies mixed with a bit of crunch and these rolls were amazing. I love cucumber wrapped rolls and theirs were superb and much tastier than others I have tried. I believe we had a Dragon Roll and another without fish due to a shellfish allergy. We only ordered 3 and it was plenty, which is not normal for me.Also had the Tempura ice cream and a chocolate dessert which was lovely.Top all this off with a large beer and liquor list, fabulous music (my tasteand great staff and Rock-n-Saké is a hit and a must return for me. Shout out to our server, Kevin A. He was fun, professional and has a great smile. 😉If you like sushi and fun, GO THERE!

Sounds crazy. Mall sushi. But that was some of the best sushi I have ever had. I do not consider myself a sushi connoisseur but that was great sushi. Big, tasty, fresh, delicious! Waitress very friendly and helpful with ordering. Very cool view of water way. Loved it!!

Love rock n sake! It is my go to sushi takeout place! The fish is always fresh and delicious. Sometimes the rolls can be a little rice heavy or a little sloppy though. Overall great, though! And they have multiple locations across the area.

This place has amazing food but the service is a little slow. If you sit at the bar, youll get faster service. I would definitely recommend the sushi deviled eggs. Its the single best bite you will ever take in your life. On tuesdays, they also have a $5 LSU roll or a roll of the month, if you order another roll. Theyre only open from 5 to 9 on Tuesdays though.

I had to be convinced to eat here. Im not a sushi person so I got the pork belly ramein soup, it was flavorful and substantial with noodles veggies and an egg. My dinner companions were more adventurous and ordered several items and encouraged me to taste everything. The beef noodles were delicious as were the peppers and sprouts. Everything I tried was well seasoned. Eventually they got me to try the sushi! I dont know the names but one had the raw tuna sliver ontop. I liked it😲 to my surprise and I also tried the one with the fried shrimp inside, I liked that too. Thanks to P & T for opening my eyes to new food😘

Surprised by the quality of sushi here, definitely a hidden gem with food quality. Our server Olivia was excellent and attentive with everything. I took off a star because they do have the club music (in a posh club like settingturned up very high so it is hard to communicate in this restaurant. Fish is fresh and high quality.

Great vibe, food was pretty good, the best thing was the shrimp and specifically the sauce thereof. Dinner was good but the service left a bit desired. The real issue happened midway through the meal when a roach fell from the ceiling onto our table. I trapped it under a glass and 20 dollars of our 125 dollar check got knocked off.Love protein but not the six legged variety. Wont be back.

Unique sushi platters. Great atmosphere. Had the upside-down and a new item called the Wolverine that is not on their menu. Loved it. Ask for it and you wont be disappointed. Our hostess, Sophia was knowledgeable and very helpful. Gave great recommendations. Will come back again for sure

My partner and I are visiting from Boston and have really been enjoying gorging ourselves irresponsibly on BBQ and fried alligator, but in looking for something a little lighter this evening, we were delighted to find this place! We got the ramen and few sushi rolls to split. We didnt end up get any of the fancier rolls, which I regret a little since we watched them being made and they looked awesome! The ones we did eat definitely met expectations and the ramen was delicious. I will say, it wouldnt be my first choice to have the kale be a very central part of the dish and it could have used a little bit of heat in my opinion, but it definitely still hit the spot. Service was excellent and watching the sushi chefs was definitely a neat part of the atmosphere.

I love Rock-n-Sake. Its always a great idea. My first time eating raw tuna and it was soooooo good. Try the nachos you want be disappointed.

Kind of a funky/modern twist on sushi. I liked the "warehouse roll" and was not expecting how good the tuna nachos were (really just Poké), definitely worth a try!

This is one of my favorite sushi places in New Orleans! I love how the rolls are cut into small bites. My favorite rolls are the margarita and voodoo queen roll. They’re pricey but totally worth it! My favorite appetizers are the tuna nachos and tuna cakes. They are fabulous! The sushi is super fresh here and the staff is very friendly. We always sit at the bar with Rodney unless we’re in a big group. Love the food here!! Definitely a must if you like sushi and you’re in New Orleans!

Great food, fun atmosphere. Be warned, its very new age and a little loud, but our party could still talk easily and we really enjoyed our time. Trust me, get the yakisoba.
