Scenic nature preserve with campsites & 17-miles of trails for biking, hiking & horseback riding.
I saw at least 3 different flocks of Turkeys. 1 buck crossing the road, an Alligator resting in the shade. Palm and Magnolia warblers. Very quiet place!!
Very disappointed that the entrance off SR 46 is only a seasonal hunting entrance. Wanted to bike through but not have to go all the way to wekiva to enter. Perhaps open the fence enough for hikers and bikes at the least.
Maybe next time update the website and answering service when the park is closed before I drive two hours early in the morning. And yes I did call and check the website that day and the day prior.
Rock Springs Run is a Beautiful State Park!!! Cant wait to come back again!
Do not go here if you value your automobiles suspension. The roads are not maintained at all. We didnt even bother to check any trails with the roads being so poorly maintained.
The road into the place is so messed up just a warning #potholes
Nice trail with a lit of wildlife including ducks, eagles, coyotes, bobcat, deer, spiders and occasionally bears.
One of Floridas magical springs. The under water vent area is voluminous, deep and turquoise.
Very disappointing. We entered the reserve off of Route 46. The road was in bad shape with ruts and potholes. Things were unkempt . Signs old and rickety. Went as far as you could drive to where it was gated and could go no go no further. Were going to do a trail in that area but noticed gun shot holes in the signs and in the map display case. No one else was there anywhere. We felt unsafe so left And went to Bear Pond Park and walked.
I spent Christmas 2021 here and let me tell you!!! Throughout my whole journey I was at peace. All the exploring, bike riding, the animals and birds, the water… not to mention It seemed like my friend and I were the only ppl in the world there. It was absolutely beautiful. I’m so glad I have access to such beauty. Thank you ♥️♥️♥️
They do good work and are upfront about the turn around time. The store manger George will take care of you.
I used to love this place. I can no longer ambulate, because of pain. In the past, I used to come here all the time. Rent, or bring your own tube, to float down the spring. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen.
We went on a horse tour with Rock Springs Run Trail. The guides were excellent and made our group feel secure and it was a cool and quiet trail. Best to do in cooler weather!
We went to Calico Jacks Horseback Riding. It was really hot but the staff was personable and helpful. The horses were well behaved. One of them was the horse model for Red Dead Redemption! We went for a one hour ride. Halfway through, we stopped for pictures. The landscape was lovely, with plenty of shade on the hot day.
Great place to go if youre on vacation you want to go to the spring you want to cool down get the family out that the kids have some fun very clean the water is beautiful the trees are beautiful has one you can jump out of into the spring definitely would recommend going one of the nicer places for sure
I did the Rock Springs Loops trail. It’s very much your standard Florida trail but there were a couple extra enjoyable points on the trail. The path was fairly well maintained though the sand gets fairly loose and deep at times. All in all an average Florida trail for an average walk with my dog.
I had a great time with Conserve Florida. We went on hikes for birds and reptiles with knowledgeable people. It was a great day had by everyone. I didnt see much in terms of amenities, bathrooms and park equipment but there was plenty of nature to take in.
Rock Springs Run Trail Rides is a must do! Excellent staff who take great care of the horses, and lead a terrific trail ride.
Great for hiking and exploring. Several reviews have confused this state park with Kelly Park (which has tubing on Rock Springs; owned by Orange County). No water access in this park. No lines to get in here as at Kelly Park and Wekiwa Springs State Park.
Updating with photos from Feb. 2021. Owls have a rare pic for me so I was glad to capture this one...Updating this review in 2020. Its a big stretch of land from little road 413 to The Hammock House near the Wekiva. Traveled by bike & by car all about catching pics of deer & bear at various sunrises. AWESOME times.
Camp is rustic but has bathhouse and showers. Some picket poles need to be replaced. 12 stall barn and water for the horses. Trails are mostly open without shade cover. The trail markings and trail maps leave lots of room for improvement but great cell service so GPS tracking worked well.
Always loved this place. Beautiful wilderness minutes from Orlando. For some reason, mosquitoes are REALLY BAD this season. Bring repellent. Keep it on your person. Youll need it.
I called to get information before coming to Rock Springs Run State Reserve, and it would have been nice if the girl who I spoke with, let me know that hunting would be going on that day. If I would have known, I would have never came here. Because of the hunting, my fiancé and I could only walk on one side of the road, which is the side where horseback riding is done. I dont understand why hunting is allowed at a state reserve anyway. There should be a discounted price on days when hunting is going on, since you cant even walk the whole area. I did get some nice pictures of butterflies, and saw some deer that day. Saw lots of different animal prints in the sand as well, so that is why Im giving 3 stars. Just wasnt too impressed with the hunting, and not being told about it before driving all the way over to the reserve.
I loved our camp host they were great , very clean bathrooms and showers , park well keept and mowed , stalls were ok ! The trails are pretty but they are not marked well , we all had a great weekend . Thank you , everyone for takeing care of our parks
It might be a nice place for hiking but all the pictures here are of water and when I pulled in there’s a sign that says “NO WATER ACCESS” so if you’re trying to swim, try Wekiwa or Kelly Park.
I’ve been going here a very long time, it’s a beautiful reserve with a lot to see. I’ve seen deer every time I’ve been along with usually seeing turkey, black bears, hawks, and many more. I doubt if you’re going camping you’re scared of these things but make sure to respect the nature and don’t feed any of the animals.
I have been visiting and taking friends and family to experience Rock springs all my life and I am over 60 years old... much better than the plastic over price waterparks!!!! Natural beauty and cool clear refreshment!!
Thank you everybody for enjoying my views please take these pictures the grand assault Im posting them to let you know whats around Rock Springs run Park right now the horseback riding is still a treat for non Floridians so dont think of it is a total waste but the beauty from the roads going to view is gone and Im not sure if itll ever come back honesty is my best policy when it comes to this particular subject so please dont fault me four beings once again Florida Stone signing off
Lovely state park. Can t rent kayak, gotta bring your own.
We went hiking my foot: very little shade, mostly scrub palms and pines, not many oaks, trail is wide with lots of sand, many trail splits were unmarked. Very peaceful, not another person in the park on a Sunday mid morning. Pond trail was 4 miles, also have a challenge trail which is 9 miles.
Great place for a short daytrip, catch a canue and enjoy the georgous wildlife
Went horse back riding. The guides were great, but the trail isnt that great, it was just woods. I was hoping for water front. It was very hot while riding. Also the ride started over an hour late.
Another great trail ride! Lol i just wish they had a monthly membership. This is looking like a twice a month Adventure. Tour guides are absolutely amazing! The horses couldnt be more sweet. We all around love this place!
It was wonderful. Definitely enjoyed camping and trail riding my horse. Stalls were in good shape. And the area was peaceful. Trails were marked pretty well. Got to see a bear on one trail. And about ten deer. Definitely worth the trip.
This is a gem of places to visit. It’s a place to spend an afternoon. The river float takes 20-30 minutes. There are places to barbecue, just bring your briquettes and food. Lawn chairs for extra seating near the river. The scenery is very good.
Nice quiet paddling...other than the wildlife. I paddle it once a week, for the past 20 months. You can make the right turn and paddle up to Wekiwa Springs. Clear water all the way into the caves. Way too busy on nice weather weekends. Go during the week- its a nice place to paddle and swimming.
Awesome scenery! We rented kayaks at Kings Landing and made our way down the 8.5 mile Rock Springs run to Wekiva Island. It took us around 3.5 hours and was not too physically strenuous because you are going down river. It did take some kayaking finesse in spots because it got skinny but nothing too tricky. Saw 4-5 gators (one 12 footer! And many, many birds and turtles. There are also a couple rope swings on the way which are fun but the water is too shallow to use them in several locations. Once we got to Wekiva Island we had a couple beers and swam. Cool spot to hang out for sure. We then caught the four oclock shuttle back to Kings Landing.
I started out with a rented cayak from kings landing... It is a really nice river, but you need to plan enough time if you dont want to hurry... The river run is about 8.5 miles long or so... Youll see lots of wildlife, go through the week days so you wont have to many people...
Loved kayaking through these beautiful waters. Take plenty of sunscreen and water and even if your dog if you have one. Great fun day out for all the family
While some parts were beautiful, most of the actual scenery is being cut down dug up, I remeber walking and seeing trees. Now you walk through sand then you get a little grass. There is a little black plastic thing that runs the length of the Walk kind of takes away from the naturalness and the beauty I just hate to see all this destruction to something that used to be so beautiful
Beautiful park that Ive been going to since I was a kid. Never disappoints with its year round 72°water. Always great for kayaking, canoeing, boating, swimming, fishing, and just simply observing nature. You cant go wrong by spending the day here! Great place to visit for a fun day or even just a couple of hours. You wont regret it, I promise!
We did the BoneFrog ocr and it was great. Apart from tripping over and getting cut by rusty barbed wire, we had a great time. The land was beautiful and fun to race on.
I loved our camp host they were great , very clean bathrooms and showers , park well keept and mowed , stalls were ok ! The trails are pretty but they are not marked well , we all had a great weekend . Thank you , everyone for takeing care of our parks
Had a wonderful time. Brought our own canoe and only pay $10 to drop it in. There are still a lot of trees down from the hurricane. But their team has done an amazing job clearing everything. Just be wise when youre out there.
Area looks like they havent cleaned up since the hurricane. Stay on the service road since most trails are closed. No bathrooms and not much wildlife. Main access road is also in pretty bad shape. With so many other cool trails around, dont bother wasting time here.
Amazing place to explore! The water is gorgeous! 😊👍
Rock spring run is one of my favorites in the area. Ive seen a bear on probably half of my hikes out here.
First off, there are several entrances into the reserve. This specific site does not have access to the rock spring or wekiva river. We took the pond trail (3 mile loopand had a great trip. Im glad there are trails where we can take our dog. Other dog owners also had their dogs on a leash, so fantastic experience. One note of caution, the trail markers have faded and are hard to see. Some of the signage had even broken making it difficult to determine which route was the trail.
I recently moved down from the Midwest and miss the Forest Preserves we have. Ive been searching for natural spring feed water area to take my dog hiking and to picnic or BBQ. Thus was the first of many I hope to find. This was a great day at the park.Everyone that had dogs on the trails were responsible pet parents and I was so glad to see that.We will be back to this park often.Cristina
Beautiful area to go for a hike and just take in the sights., stopped by the game check station and they take some nice deer out of this place during the hunting seasons.
