Rock Farm Guest House - in Belmopan, Belize
Absolutely worth the stop!
Fantastic little place doing great work, wish I knew about it before. Owner said if youre around at 8am or 4pm they feed all the local birds and you can just sit there while they fly around you enjoying a drink. Its not really an attraction though, just a place that rehabs local birds but allows the public to walk around
My wife and I stayed at Rock Farm Guest House (also Belize Bird Rescuefor our honeymoon a few months ago and absolutely loved our stay. Nikki and Jerry have a beautiful property and a great team to help look after the wide variety of birds and parrots. We even got to help feed the birds a few mornings which was a lot of fun. Jerry and Nikki were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout our stay; anything from helping to book excursions to cooking delicious meals. We couldnt have asked for a better start to our honeymoon and cant recommend Rock Farm Guest House enough.
We came for a business trip. Everything surpassed our expectations. After having stayed in other spots in Belmopan over my 2+ years working there, I really needed a change.Rock Farm delivered. And delivered. And delivered. This is where you need to be... where for tourism or business... no question. The rooms are stupidly spacious, lacking absolutely no amenity, incredibly comfortable, clean as clean can get.Nowhere in Belmopan (and believe me, I have looked and tried many spots because my clients put me in whatever hotel they wantwill compare... nowhere.I never write reviews like this but I have to say, i was genuinely sad to say goodbye to Nikki and Jerry. They’re doing amazing things for Belize. They want the country to thrive. They are way more than a stop over between popular tourist spots... they will teach you about the country and how desperately it needs more responsible and sustainable tourism. While they cater to your every need, they manage to rescue, rehab and release amazing birds... no idea how they get it all done! They keep incredible grounds - you can learn about the various parrots and birds they rescue, tube on the river, pick very fresh grapefruits for breakfast or simply relax... no problem. You’re home at Rock Farm.Consider at least 3 nights at Rock Farm. Don’t plan anything. Let Nikki and Jerry suggest day trips or bring a rental a car and let them help you map out your day loops over dinner ...If you have just 1 night, arrive by mid afternoon so you can sit on the balcony and enjoy the parrots and other wonderful birds snacking away while you take in the sunset with a frosty beer or chilly rum... don’t forget to order a home cooked dinner or breakfast. It’s the best b&b I’ve ever found! I can’t wait to go back.
Very nice and eye catching Guest house
Tellement beau et tranquille. Les propriètaires sont charmants et très accueillants. Superbe maison dhôtes.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. It was a great little get away. Nikki and Jerry were fabulous host and were super helpful. Their home cooked meals (both breakfast and dinnerwere delicious and definitely worth the price. We enjoyed walking around the property and listening to all the birds. We walked down to the river and waterwheel several times! PS say yes if they offer you any grapefruit it is the best Ive ever had!
A marvelous place to experience! So much more than just a place to sleep. The grounds and river are fun to explore. Many wild birds roam freely but come close for feedings. But at night all are quiet...not so during the day! Highly recommend. We stayed only 4 nights. Wish we had stayed 7! That almost all reviews are 5 star is for good reason.
Wonderful hosts, delicious breakfasts and dinners if you choose to eat there, very nice rooms. Fun interacting with fellow guests from all over. Birds on the property wake you up around 6:30 am, no problem though. One mile rough road to the property off the main highway; need a high clearance vehicle if youre driving. Dont miss waking to the river from the main house to at least see the water wheel in action, or borrow tubes from the owners and float the river.
Beautiful place, terrific hosts, supports an important cause, float in the river!
Fantastic! Great accommodation in a lovely setting. Wonderful people doing great rescue work.
Beautiful
Me and the parrot were tight. A magical place. The homemade bread/toast was almost the highlight
Absolutely stay here! This place is really nice and ran be equally really nice people. It is everything you could want for a vacation stay. And while here definitely eat here, they make great meals. The location is great for going out on trips to see ruins, even as far as Tikal in Guatemala or even the other way to go to the zoo.Its one of those places that other places that set the bar for comparison when traveling.
The Rock Farm is by far the best place we stayed in Belize. The hosts are so incredible, not to mention the grounds. They sit on 50 acres of private forest reserve with a small creek. It is also a bird rescue project that is constantly rescuing abused and injured birds so they can rehabilitate and release them back into the wild. If available stay in the Toucan room, it is superb. We came here on our last night in Belize and regret not coming sooner. Plan on staying here longer than you imagine.
I originally booked the Hummingbird Room for two nights then extended for a third -- that says something right there! From the get go both Nikki & Jerry were fabulous: super responsive to my messages; made a pick up (& later drop offin Belmopan easy; extremely welcoming & wanting to make sure that I had everything I needed; very informative about Belize & the area; they provide great itinerary suggestions in the information notebook in the room...I could go on and on. I had delicious dinners all three nights there as well! I spent lots of time on the large balcony having coffee and enjoying the birds, but also loved wandering the gorgeous grounds and touring the Bird Rescue which is in & around the same building (which is also their home). What theyve done in building up the bird rescue program is fascinating & impressive; your stay even helps further that mission. I was worried that having the birds right there might mean that Id be up earlier in the morning than I might have preferred, and honestly I did use ear plugs which I dont normally do, but I (accidentally!slept in later than I have in any other accommodations this trip! Internet was good, coffee/tea/purified water provided, desk in the room made it easy to work when needed (although I preferred the porch, despite--or better said perhaps because of!--the distractions of Mother Nature, including of course lots of birds!)....overall a perfect place to stay. Thank you, Nikki & Jerry!
