The park's visitor center exhibits area plants & animals in addition to housing a planetarium.
I want to come back here and Walk it.
Great place to explore the outdoors while technically still in the city! Nature center is fantastic, and park has great trails!
I love learning about the wild life but I want the Plaetarium to be open again.
Nice adventure walks and trails
We love Rock Creek park! Whether on a quiet trail, spotting owls, deer, or raccoons, sit and reflect by one of the many small enclaves by the rushing water, drop by the zoo or nature center, or jog/walk along a more bustling part of the path. The park is one of our favorite places to take the family or get in some alone time.
Great place for a nature walk. The cicadas were loud and delightful, and with the heat they gave the place a rainforest feel. We also saw wrens and frogs!
Bad
The bison were incredible!!
Muy bonito
Nice park with many walking trails.
Love this park and this center. Great people.
I have been coming here since childhood and have always left with new information.
This is a great place to start a hike through Rock Creek Park. We did the Boulder Ridge trail and it was awesome!!
Adventure
Umm i read about is trails and some replica animals no one has said one word about the planetarium is there one even there
So the nature center and planetarium--whatever. It has a drinking fountain, a restroom, some exhibits that will help you learn about the flora and fauna of the park if youre into that kind of thing. The actual park is amazing. Miles and miles of very good trail, and plenty of places to feel like youre actually in the woods, without ever having to step outside of the city. Gorgeous picnic spaces where you can host a campfire picnic for free. If you live in DC and you like to hike or trail run, this is *not* to be missed.
Nice place to hike!
We always have fun here. Hiking outside, replicas of local inhabitants inside, and a planetarium.
Quaint nature center with decent trails. Very classic nature center style. Friendly staff
A neat stop, particularly for parents with kids under the age of 10. Its a free museum and offers a free planetary show in their planetarium. The planetary show was slightly underwhelming for adults. Theres a small natural history museum as well.
Am excellent find in the middle of the city
Pretty boring place overall. Looks like an outdated museum from the 60s. Good thing this place is free. Probably a good place to take small children though
Planetarium and lots of hands on thing for children
Very bad and not good at all
Rock Creek Park is a beautiful place--abundant trees, trails, and views. If you are visiting the DC area, or if you live here, it is a space away from the city, yet conveniently located.
Nice little park with sufficient parking and a fun little planetarium and visiting center as well. Looks like a great place to bring family and kids and getting a good walk.
The park is terrific for bicyclists, walkers & runners, hiking and more - particularly on weekends and some holidays when portions of Beach Drive and some other roads in the Washington portion are closed to motor vehicles. For access to picnic areas, portions of Beach Dr. remain open. In Maryland, some of the attractions are Lake Needwood, Lake Bernard Frank, Meadowside nature center and another scenic road named Beach Drive. Needwood golf course is alongside Lake Needwood. Seasonally, rental boats are available here. In Washington, the Rock Creek golf course is near Military Road.
Very nice picnic place
Im in the park nearly every day with my dogs, walking or running on the quieter trails until I forget whatever is bothering me and just enjoy all that Nature gives so freely. RCP is truly a wonderful, sacred space. Lets respect and protect it for years to come!
Good place!
Great for a run or biking
Urban park at its best
Two and a half times the size of NYs Central Park, this is a bit of wild in the middle of the District. In addition to actual wildlife -- there are deer running through it -- the National Zoo is nearby. Great on weekends when they shut parts of the parkway down.
