Enduring counter serve/drive-thru selling tacos, burritos, fresh tortillas & other Mexican eats.
The owner refused to make my burrito into a GLUTEN FREE bowl. So no customer service or care for customers who can’t eat certain ingredients
The red pork tamales I bought were not good. They were masa thick with little meat filling or red chile sauce. The masa did not have enough lard, so they were dry and the meat was dry also. Roberto used to ensure the quality of the food sold. I wont buy any anymore.
Used to be good. Cant really say it is any longer.
Service seems a lot slower, but I know theyre hiring. Great food. Been going there for years.
Best Mexican food you can get, anyone who says otherwise is a liar pants on fire.
Went thru the drive thru on Wed. I ordered 2 green chicken enchilada plates. Looked at my receipt today (two days later$194.25. Went to have it corrected...late for work, locked out of my account, 2-$29 overdrafts, "oh, sorry." Not as sorry as I AM! Never, ever, ever ever ever again!
Great Mexican food. The best sopapillas in Las Cruces (IMHO). Great enchiladas, red or green chile. Many people get their masa for homemade tamales from Robertos. Still a great place, the lines for breakfast burritos are constant but the service is fast and food is good. Get Some!Update, still great food and fast service! 08/2022
We came back to LC after 20 year and this is still our go to for catering our family events. Great food and selection. Cant go wrong
Customer service could be better, large orders take a while. Which is expected. Feels like its short staffed. The guy that work there, kinda short but super helpful.
Kind of a long wait for small order.. burritos were soggy and bland..
I always order the same items They are a very busy diner and have always provided pretty great service and even better prices
I ordered a ground beef and potato burrito with green chili. And this is what I got. A potato burrito.
Reasonably priced. Good green chili potatoe cheese burritos.
The main dining area was closed due to COVID19 but we are in summer of 2022, 2 years later.
Great tortillas! the food is good, wish the salsa was spicier, but the tamales were terrific! only dower was lack of staff, it took quite awhile to place and get our order.
Went to grab some lunch , understood there wasnt what i asked for , which is totally fine . But the owner of the Restaurant her name is Yvette , was just so rude , she gave out bad customer service , i was calm and we waited in the drive thru for about 25 mins almost 30 mins just for an order of Rolled Tacos , which we were the one of the 2 cars there . but Yvette jaut was so rude , her tone of voice , when asking her about the menu , a couple questions i had since it was my FIRST TIME there , . A new Experience which ended up being a sad , bad first time there !! I would not recommend anyone to go there if asked ,i rate this restaurant, owner , just the whole experience a very low 2 out of 10 , the food wasnt even that great either ! its very Disappointing! Especially the Owner Yvette a 0 out of 10 , very Ugly mannered Old Lady ! ✌️🤬😡😡😡😤👎🤦🤦
Seriously one of the yummiest places I have ever eaten!!! And so many options!! Will definitely be back to try more!
Excellent Mexican food in New Mexico I am from Santa Fe, when I visit Las Cruces I have to visit my favorite restaurants this is one of them. Menudo, Enchiladas, Gorditas beans, rice. And Salsa chips, great place to eat and great prices..😋
Drive Through gave me, a 177 pound man, a flauta plate which consists of 2 flautas, old lettuce, beans scattered on the side of the plate, rice thrown on the to right. Embarassing. Never eating here again.
I did not like it because they treat you like you’re nobody and all they do is give you what you order. Also they don’t really care if you eat there or not.
The only good item at this mid Mexican restaurant is their red chili meat. All I asked through the drive through which took forever was a side of the Red Chili Meat. Whether it been a pint or not doesn’t matter I would of paid any amount of $$$ to order this chili meat a la carte. The lady taking my order scoffed at my order like I WAS the crazy one for even asking such an outlandish request. Terrible business practice for an already not so great Mexican restaurant. I highly recommend Los Compas down the street or even the lady’s selling plates on Facebook would be a better idea than coming here. It blows my mind that they wouldn’t sell me a side of chili to me I would of honestly paid any price but now I’m glad I didn’t. Also I ordered this way because I’m practicing a low carb Keto diet (which a lot of people are doing by the wayand it would of been a PERFECT healthy option for people who don’t wanna be forced to eat flour tortillas! Totally bogus for not being able to accommodate a simple request.
Service left a LOT to be desired. Food was ok. If you eat in, they still charge the drink price for a refill. Side prices are outrageous as well. There are plenty of other good Mexican food restaurants around Las cruces. I highly recommend avoiding this one.
Horrible customer service . Got my order wrong . Had to drive all the way back . The girl had such a ugly attitude. She should not be working with customers. Got Yvette’s number . The manager . No answer..seems like there’s no way to talking to someone who provide any kind of sensible customer service .
We buy burritos often. Usually potatoes, bacon with chesse and they are yummy. They charge for salsa cups. Staff before 10 a.m. are very nice and courteous. When the line is beyond the marquis, its better to get off and order inside.
Update: they have a new speaker system and it makes ordering a lot easier! Love their food. Yvette is always very nice and makes sure I always have my order correct. Tara is also a pleasure to deal with in the mornings. Best place for burritos , sopaipillas , and all other Mexican foods.
Hey! My Beautiful Blessed, Las Cruces, People, I just left, Robertos, and purchased some Tamales, thinking I was going home and enjoy them! WELL, What is going on with Robertos🤔, these Tamales are AWFUL, JUST PLAIN AWFUL👎, WINDOWS, AND AREA IS NASTY AS WELL, SO WHY, SHOULD THEIR FOOD BE ANY BETTER! THEY USE TO BE A AWESOME PLACE TO EAT, NOW THEY ARE CHARGING US THE CUSTOMERS, HIGH PRICES💲, TO ONLY THROW, THEIR FOOD IN THE TRASH, UPON GETTING HOME! WELL I FOR ONE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE! ILL TRY AND MAKE MY OWN TAMALES, THEY WILL DEFINITELY TASTE BETTER THAN THESE! NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE EATING MORE HOME COOKED MEALS, AND AT LEAST YOU KNOW WHATS IN YOURE FOOD, AND ITS BEEN COOKED IN A SANITIZED AREA, AND PLACE!HAVE A BLESSED DAY! 🙏💯
This Mexican food was a pleasant surprise. It is the true Mexican food I remember eating at friends homes growing up. It isnt all americanized. Simple, tasty and flavorful. Their crispy taco shells are the best. The green chili again reminds me of a flavor from childhood and the meat is the star in the taco not all of the seasoning. I cant wait for my mom to visit so I can take her here. The service is good too and friendly. The dining room clean and spacious. Well be back soon for tacos and enchiladas.
Roberto’s drive thru has always taken a long time. If you aren’t prepared to wait 30-45 minutes then don’t go you’ll just let your frustrated attitude ruin your experience. The food is always delicious! I get the red chile potato burritos and they are addictive. Amazing flavor and wonderful. The staff is always nice. They make delicious tamales and flautas as well!
Robertos is by far my most favorite Mexican food restaurant in Las Cruces, NM. But I must be honest and admit a bias, one of my relatives is married to a member of the owners family but that has nothing to do with the taste of the food. This is my favorite dish, red enchiladas topped with 2 perfectly prepared fried eggs, beans (frijoles lol), spanish rice, with a garnish of shredded lettuce and tomato. Dont turn your nose up at eating the garnish because the red chile sauce mixed with the lettuce and tomato makes for a heavenly delight. There is much more to the story of this landmark eating establishment and I will post several photos of the legendary and world renowned owner (now deceased, sadlyand founding proprietor.Mr. Robert Estrada founded the restaurant in 1980 although he had a thriving tortilla manufacturing company. One day he had an epiphany and decided to go for a world record by making the worlds largest three layer red enchilada. Not only did he accomplish this feat, garner a world record, but the Whole Enchilada Fiesta sprung up around it, which was sadly cancelled as he became too Ill to continue. I would also like to add he was a Vietnam war veteran.Ive seen many negative reviews of this restaurant but, fantastical as it may sound, there is an outside element that is constructively closing down all the local establishments to favor their "alien" invasion. If one will do some research, one will find the most popular eating establishments in our fair city of the same persuasion are not local and arise from further south. What better way to conquer than from within. This area of the southwest is known as the chile capital of the world and well deserved. The local controversy around here is - "what is your favorite chile sauce, red or green?"
Got a bunch of green chile and shredded beef burritos. the quality control on the peeled green chile is non existant. so much skin still left and having to pick it out of my mouth as i eat. Please properly peel your green chiles!
Worst experience I’ve ever had in the food industry. Took us 30 minutes to get to the window only for a woman with short curly hair to give us the WORST customer service. I’ve never been treated so rudely. Will NOT be coming back.
I drove thru and ordered at the menu.It was Christmas Eve morning. I ordered 3 dozen red tamales. They were moderately priced. They were really big in size and were delicious!
The Good: what is worth making the stop whenever I’m near Las Cruces? Green or red, meat or potato. I’ve never been able to nail down whether the meat was beef or pork -likely beef, but the simplicity of the hot green chile (not a gooey sauceand meat wrapped in a tortilla is near perfect. The potato with red rounds out the meal. The red with meat is a bit zingy, but I’ll take that over bland and sweet red enchilada sauces found elsewhere. For me, that simplicity of 3 ingredients is worth the trip as long as it remains the same. The Bad: don’t bother with the rice or the beans. Is it breakfast? Ok, the egg burrito is perfectly fine. But enchilada, etc with the little bit of chopped iceberg and a pale tomato? Not worth the time or the Ugly. The Ugly: 20 years ago Robertos was kicking, an institution. Times have changed and while the line is still long at the drive through, it’s definitely in decline. Nothing has changed (or been fixedin all the time since I was at NMSU in 1998. The wait times approach absurd for the kind of food it is. The burritos will leak in the paper bag so make sure to have a plastic bag handy if your carrying them for more than a minute or you’ll find a red or stinky stain. The quantity of comments about rude, mischarges, or wrong items is not to be ignored. This happens too much and is probably made worse by the pandemic shortages of workers. The short of it: do go, make sure you have time to wait, get the green chile meat burrito which, in its simplicity, is a near perfect food -nothing like the sloppy, overstuffed burritos you’ll find elsewhere.
If you like to wait and expect to be treated like a nuisance, this is the place for you. The drive-thru is guarded by a joyless, painfully unpleasant woman who shows little gratitude for a loyal customer base built by her father. Sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree, and theres nothing worse than the putrid smell of a rotten apple. Once you escape the grip of the troll guarding her bridge, you might have a mediocre meal.
Best burritos in town, but their drive thru can be really slow. Took me almost 30 min last time. They were losing business, cars were leaving the drive thru not wanting to wait.
The wait time to get food is very long. So, today I called in my order 1 hr. prior before going to restaurant to pick it up due to it being an $86.00 order. I had to still wait in the long line inside. When I got to the front of the line just so they can to say they had not even started my order when it was the simplest items burritos. It will be a 30 min. wait. Let just say I had co-workers waiting for there lunch break. The girl was very rude with no care in the world & she is always there every time I order inside. Not sure her name but a heavy set girl with long black hair. Who needs to care more for customers as if she was a customer how she would want to be treated. Instead of saying it is what it is were busy. They should not take Call in orders if they can not fulfill orders.
We spent 3100 and the green meat burritos were very salty. The crispy tacos had no flavor at all and the chips tasted rancid and salsa was very watery and no flavor. I hope the prices are not going to keep going up with the quality that Robert dedicated to his food and flavor. Im very disappointed in the quality of the food. I hope I dont stop going to the restaurant because of this.
Drive through menu needs work.. The line is always very long. You need to go with extra time because they do take for ever. You will be sitting at drive threw for atleast 30min. The food is always good so thats a plus. Food was way over priced. I paid 25 bucks for 4 burritos 🤦
About 2mo. Ago I Ordered green chicken enchiladas. Wasnt what I expected. I got the casserole type, not the "rolled" type, which real enchiladas are normally rolled. They should of at least notified or labeled the menu "casserole type" or something if thats how THEY do them cause enchiladas ARE ROLLED. The tortilla (seemed like the ones restaurants use for flautas, thickwas little too thick & hard to cut. I was very disappointed with the enchiladas. Not what Im used to at El Paso or any where Ive ordered enchiladas outside EP,TX. I did like the Chile Colorado burrito though. Very big & packed. Good taste too 👍 & horchata drink was ok. Seemed like the powdered type but it Was ok. (Dont mind if its powdered just not when u can taste its powdered.)
I use to love this place as a kid. It was a place we visited frequently. We were there last weekend and staff was so rude in the front, the girl didnt seem to care or want to be there. Our food took forever. The prices have gone up so much. I feel like we can get better food at other places locally for less. I was truly disappointed especially with staff. What happened to all the woman that use to work there? They were amazing. Super disappointed.
The food was fresh and tasty. I went through the drive through, which is in need of some speaker work along with the menu. The printing as well as some of the prices are bit worn out and a bit hard to read. The staff was kind and ready to take my order when it was my turn. Our food was tasty and the whole pinto beans were amazingly flavorful and seasoned just right.
Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Big dining room thats open for dine in. Generous portions and great variety. Great smell and delicious foods such as the menudo, red enchiladas and meat stuffed sopa! When passing through again, will definitely stop here again!
The service was terrible. The lady working the window was rude. Also there was only two cars in front of us and we waited over 20 minutes for the food and the food was bland. They should be embarrassed to call their green enchiladas, enchiladas. The sauce was basically cream of mushroom/ chicken with hardly any green Chile. No flavor. I will be staying away from this place..
Drove through for a burrito at lunch. The line was long, but moved relatively quickly.Food was excellent, as always. Both Red and Green chile burritos 🌯, great chile flavor.1 star removed because the window said my total was $16, and I knew it would be about $8. I questioned and asked to read the order back. It wasnt even near 2 burritos. Lol. They corrected it, but I did have to be persistent. Surely it was a fluke...Still recommend highly.
The food was very disappointing, no flavor, we order green chili chicken enchiladas, couldnt even find the chicken, tons of cheese, way to much white sauce with a little green chili, it was horrible. The beans are hard, the rice has no flavor. Also order a tamale plate, it was dry, very little red sauce, again beans and rice had no flavor. Whats wrong with the New Mexican food in Las Cruces. This place is awful!!!
Their service was so incredibly disappointing. I was told about this restaurant because of its authenticity, but the only thing we got was attitude and a long wait. The restaurant was not even busy and the food took almost 30 minutes. The ladies seemed to prioritize the drive-thru more than their in house patrons. The food may be authentic but it’s not the only one in town. I say try your luck somewhere else, you’ll probably get a smile, faster service, and better quality. The ladies working have no manners and no regard for their paying customers. They just look very unhappy to be working there. I speak Spanish and I can tell they were talking behind their backs about various customers. Note to owners: tell your “ladies” to act more welcoming and not as judgmental.
Really good food. But, they are really slow to get there orders out. The owners daughters arent really helpful and most of them are rude.
Food was good even though she messed up. The server who is also the owner is a bit rude and over charged us. But she could care less since its always packed.
Amazing food but the customer service is lacking. A 30min wait for 3 burritos is pushing it. Great food all around, plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating. Bulk to go orders of prepared food and stuff to prepare at home. Look for their tortillas in stores too!
This used to be my favorite place in Las Cruces. For, like, 25 years. Now....its nearing the end of its life cycle... Dirty, dry food, and absolutely no investment in the business.
