I visited 16.11.22, i have been here several times. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The layout is nice, has a great buzz about the place and depending upon where you are sat, there are some interesting views in to the market and surround. Yesterdays visit i had the scallops to start which were lovely but very rich and i would say you will definitely need some bread to balance out the creaminess of the dish. Main was beef Wellington which was lovely although after adding a side of sprouts there was too much food for me, even with a healthy appetite i had to ask for a take away box as i loathe wasting food.I had noticed on my previous visit that the roast potatoes arent really that good! Some edges are slightly crispy but in general you find you are cutting away then find the skin is a little chewy. Its not a disaster but if mum made these then she would be disappointed. Also i ordered a whisky twice....both occasions i asked for neat and on ice, both times they came with no ice and i had to send back.Overall it might seem a little picky but this isnt cheap and clear, simple instruction not followed is a little annoying especially as for the most part the experience was great.ROAST - please sort out your roast potatoes!!

I didn’t have the best experience in my first visit to Roast. I was give a table by the window initially, then, after my drink had arrived and I was ready to order, I was asked to move as they suddenly needed to seat 8 people where I was. I ordered the burger and they asked how I’d like it cooked, I took the medium option but it arrived well done. Overall the burger was tasty, the chips were hot and crunchy and it all got eaten, but I can’t say it was anything special. The restaurant itself has a nice interior and the staff were friendly, but it wasn’t as I expected. I might return and try the roast dinner, but I won’t be rushing back with so many other options around Borough Market.

Tucked away in borough market, this is a must try for food. While it is on the more expensive side you can tell that those extra pounds went into the quality of the foodTo be honest, the service was a bit hit and miss - and where we were sat for the evening the staff were constantly bumping into the back of my chair to access the till/ storage for cutlery (and only 1 apologise for it). Please excuse the photo of the pie -I couldn’t hold myself back before taking a picture.

Really lovely restaurant for a roast dinner. We had beef wellington and roast lamb with truffle cauliflower cheese and mash on the side. Also some red wine. I think the wines are very over priced for what it is. The staff were quite rude and weren’t in a good mood and gave off a bad vibe but couldn’t fault the food one bit.

Its been a while since the last time I ate here, the food and services always very very good.Scotch Egg, Roast beef & roast pork were fantastic (although the roast pork scratching was tough to eat as it was soaked in gravy for a while, must remember to have gravy separately). However, the dessert we ordered sticky toffee pudding, the pic on the website is like a whole round one but when it came, it was a small rectangular piece.

Super tasty food, service was fine but not anything out of the ordinary. It was really busy when i went which made the atmosphere a little crowded and noisy.Definitely recommend the Big Ben cocktail for a bit of instagram content, also tasted lovely. On the pricier side when it comes to price.

I think its over hyped. Took the market value daily set meal. I had lamb shoulder and toffee pudding. I felt the pancetta wasnt crisped up enough as fat was on the meat which let down the dish.Toffee pudding was nice but felt more like a cake than real pudding. Slow service!

Food was really good. We came for my dads birthday on a sunday. He had roast beef and I had the vegan Wellington. All very tasty, the only slight criticism was the steak knives they gave us were totally blunt, not fit for purpose. Oh and they gave my dad a little birthday cake which was a nice gesture.

Excellent restaurant in borough market, a short walk from London Bridge/Station. The food mirrors the name of the restaurant, a British menu with very well prepared and seasoned British roast. Good selection of drinks as well. The decor is fantastic, spacious l, great views and full of natural light. Descent pricing too and staff were welcoming.

I love the location for this restaurant, its very much like a speak easy for food. A small inconspicuous lift will take you up to what feels like a very fancy conservatory with a stunning view of the market. The staff are super friendly and extremely attentive. If you are looking for the best tasting quintessential British food this is the place for you.The roast dinner is fantastic! The potatoes are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside, the beef has beautifully seasoned, rendered fat on the outside and stunning gravy. The desserts are also very traditional which is great! Its certainly somewhere you should experience at least once for sure. Im keen to come back and try the beef wellington. Its quite pricey for a roast but you know its going to be the best roast you ever had.

Had a lovely time celebrating a special occasion with a friend! We went on a Thursday at 1PM (was relatively quietand was instantly greeted by staff and sat down. They were incredibly courteous and even accommodated for a surprise congratulatory dessert!I initially thought the afternoon tea was going to be small and that we’d be hungry afterwards but the two of us left with a full stomach and cakes to bring home too!Affordable, nice view, great ambience, amazing staff.

Huge portions; don’t bother having starters or you won’t be able to finish your main - I ended up packing up half of mine!Beef Wellington was nice but not the best I’ve ever had; greens were undercooked and would’ve been nice if it came with carrots like the Vegan Wellington. Ended up ordering a side of carrots, but it was way too big of a side, I didn’t want that many, I just wanted 2/3 - so again had to pack all these carrots up. Really enjoyed the mushrooms and creamed spinach sides.Chocolate temptation dessert was nice.Gorgeous interior, overlooking borough market.I’d eat here again for a special occasion, but definitely not somewhere I’d go casually for a roast, as it costs about £100 per person for 3 courses + a cocktail.

I wanted to go to Roast for some time, but after many years I finally made it. I came with a group of colleagues and one thing I can say is that we all enjoyed the food both from taste and visual perspective. The portions of main courses (especially roasted pork and Wellingtonare huge :). I had scallops as a starter and sea bass as a main course and both were delicious. And pavlova desert! That was such a lovely end of the dinner. But I cant give a 5 star review. The reason is that I didnt feel any real attention from waiters. They did their job well, but all only brought food and took away empty plates without any emotions and attempt to make an impression or simple conversation. I didnt feel any connection or passion for their work... the heart was missing. I am happy to experience Roast because of all the amazing meals, but I am probably not coming back again.

Unexpected (and not planned). Original plan was to have a bite at the Borough market, but the heat made it nearly impossible. Plan B: let’s go for one last classic meal before leaving London.Solution: Roast (right upstairs the market). Definitely non disappointed: classics, roast beef and beef Wellington, were perfectly on point.

We chose Roast for an important family event, having eaten there very happily in the past. The atmosphere was as wonderful as ever but the service and food fell short. It felt like all experienced waiting staff had left and been replaced by pleasant but chaotic newcomers. Aspects of our order were wrong; the food was less than piping hot when it arrived; and the bill was incorrect in favour of the restaurant by over £40 (until we spotted and asked for it to be corrected). Fine dining prices but not currently fine dining. I really hope Roast can properly recover.

The food was okay, service was below average, and the cost was exceedingly over-priced (around 116 pounds for lunch): a burger, one cider, 2 Cokes, and a beef wellington. The view was spectacular though, overlooking Borough market. This was one of those live and learn experiences.

I had a tasty vegan Wellington at Roast, it was well cooked and served with a very nice gravy. The cocktails are great and some of the signature cocktails are served with a show! The smoked Negroni comes is a smoked filled glass closh and the Big Ben comes in dry ice (see picture). The waiting staff are attentive, well dressed in traditional white shirts and waistcoats.Overall a great experience in a spacious restaurant and I would not hesitate to return.

My partner decided to pre-book a table at Roast, as he heard it was a good choice for a Sunday roast. When we arrived, we went upstairs and was shown to the bar as our table was still being set up.The waitress showed us to our table, lovely view by the window. The 1st thing I noticed was how close the tables were to each other, which was abit off-putting. I had even noticed a few other people complaining of this and were moved. The waiter came to our table to take our order. We both ordered the pork. My partner said he wanted a side salad and I said I wanted a bowl of the spring greens. The waiter jumped in right away and said to me "so you dont want pork, you just want the spring greens". I repeated, I would like the pork as my main, with a side bowl of spring greens. Its as if he didnt listen to what I was saying. He took our menu and accidentally dropped my partners knife on the floor. He apologised and took the knife away. Very clumsy. We had ordered bread with vinegar, sea salt butter and olive oil as a starter and this was absolutely lovely. Also, the way it was presented was also very good. The food came and it was simply out of this World. So the pork is slow cooked so it pretty much melts in your mouth, with crackling on the outter part served with smooth mash potato, gravy and apple sauce.I cant fault the meal as it was the best pork I have ever tasted. After our meal, my partner asked for the bill and was shocked to see £2 had been added for a Ukrainian charity. I think this is bad, as most people would just pay it without looking on their bill.We had already paid money to a Ukrainian charity at another bar in Borough Street Market (Elliot), so we didnt feel the need to pay even more money to a Ukrainian charity. They kindly removed the £2 and my partner went ahead with the payment. As he put through the payment, the waitress then turned to both of us and asked "I know its a personal question, but what are our ethnicity?"We were taken aback as we have NEVER been asked such question at a restaurant before. It left us confused why she asked us in the 1st place. The service from the waitress and waiters could definitely do with some extra training in customer service/care, as I feel it brings down the quality of this restaurant.

We visited Roast for afternoon tea to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We opted for the bottomless prosecco tea, and we were not disappointed. The food was very good, and just the right amount of sandwiches and cakes. Scones were fresh and warm. The Earl Grey tea was very nice - proper tea, not tea bags. The prosecco was very free-flowing for 90 minutes (as advertised), in fact we had to decline the final top-up!The staff were very friendly and we really appreciated the added extra of a little Happy Anniversary tart and chocolate to share. It made the afternoon. It is quite pricey, but we are in London. Only minor negative was that we had to wait over 10 minutes for our table even though we had booked, but it was a busy Saturday afternoon.

Roast has been a well established restaurant in Borough Market for many years but Ive only just been for their breakfast and it did not disappoint.I went for their full English breakfast. The sausages were packed with flavour, the bacon also and it even came with some gorgeous black pudding and bubble and squeak. Portion wise its large and hearty, exactly what you want from an English breakfast. To make the experience even better Roast as a restaurant has great service with even better views out over the nearby historic area. I sat and watched the world go by below me whilst enjoying an amazing meal. Both their breakfast menu and lunch and dinner menu is well worth trying.

On the 13th of April 2022 my son and I discovered that we were both going to be at business meetings in London at the same time. So I asked him if hed like to meet for lunch. Of course... if Dads paying why not?He suggested that we visit Borough Market, which I know well and I anticipated having some street food. We arrived at Borough Market and I was led to the stairway entrance for Roast.Hmm a sit down meal with white linen table settings wasnt what I was expecting. Carried along by his enthusiasm we sat down and ordered a Beef Wellington and a Roast Pork Belly... I think I can honestly say thatIve hardly ever tasted anything so good and beautifully presented.Im 60 years old and allowed to be a little bit grumpy and critical.. my apple sauce was super refined and I would suggest or prefer something where I can recognise the apple and have it cut with a bit of lemon but in the big picture its nothing. "Roast" does what it says on the can.. beautiful Roasts! I cant wait to return! Thanks to the staff and chefs.

Quite a busy restaurant at lunch time and I had the ‘Market Menu’, which, by the way, had to be asked for specifically and not offered at the same time as the à-la-carte menu. My favourite was the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream, which was full of rich favour and not too sweet. The Scotch egg was just average. What came as a disappointment was the pan-fried sea bream, which was over-cooked, and the skin could have been crispier. The service was more perfunctory than service-minded or friendly. Service charge at 12.5% was added but the waitress unsubtly reminded the guests that they had to enter the tips themselves.

We visited Roast Borough Market to take advantage of their 241 set Menu of 2 and 3 courses with unlimited Processco. They also offer an A la Carte Menu. They have an extensive wine list too.The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We enjoyed the 3 course set menu.Although that menu is limited the dishes we ordered were very good. For starters we had the Leek and Potato soup, and the Scotch Eggs. The soup was good but could have done with a bit more flavouring such as Garlic, Ginger, Tumeric or Pepper. The Scotch eggs were however very good. For our main we had the excellent Pork Belly with Mash potatoes and a fairly good Jeu. The Pork Belly was very good with a nice crispy crackling skin and a very moist and tender middle served with a nice but fairly small portion of Mashed Potatoes. The other MN and were the Pan Fried Sea Bream and also the Confit Duck legs. For dessert we enjoyed the excellent Sticky Toffee pudding with Clotted cream as opposed to Ice cream. The Pudding and Sticky Toffee sauce were very good. I think that Ice Cream probably would have been a better match but all in all the dessert was very good.Other desserts included the Rice Pudding. The meal was very good and the unlimited Prosecco was actually unlimited. The Spicy Negroni was also very good and served with dry ice was also quite a spectacle.A special mention for Wilson who served us and was both friendly, entertaining and ensured our glasses were kept constantly topped up.A lovely evening in a very nice and well appointed location. We shall certainly be visiting again.

For a rather upmarket place there were a few big misses in the meal. The starters were nice. And the beef, seabass and pork belly mains were also good (if overpriced in my opinion). The bits which were quite a let down were the chicken, which was super dry and unpleasant to eat, and the roasted potatoes, which had a horribly hard crunch on the outside, the kind of crunch developed when left to stay warm for a long time. For what we paid I believe they can keep making new roasties throughout the day rather than early in the morning! Puddings also took over 30min to arrive... Wouldnt come back unless it was like 30-50% discounted Im afraid. Id like to add that staff were friendly throughout and we liked the venue itself a lot.

Food was amazing, could not fault anything. The two of us couldnt decide which mains to get so we ending up getting three and they all didnt dissappoint. Im so glad they all were their own dishes too rather than just a change of meat. The scallops in particular were delicious and have not had anything similar to that before. The only issue was that the seating were very close to one another though so you could hear everyones conversations. Bit more on the pricey side.

Lovely high-end restaurant. Atmosphere was quaint and quiet, staff pretty friendly. I left my jumper there and staff were already waiting with it by the door when I realised, which was very sweet! The food was astonishing, although a tad expensive at around £50 per person, but it is London! The portion sizes when we went were perfect, in fact we couldnt finish them (we had a beef wellington, a steak, and a starter each). However, when some friends of mine went for a Sunday roast, they said they only got 2 thin slices of beef and were left hungry - I think it just depends what you order. We had a great time though, and it is nice for a special occasion.

Blimey, where do we begin? I’m usually one to give the benefit of the doubt but when you arrive on time and are left to stand (a party of ninedown a hallway because your table isn’t ready for 20 mins; it’s not a good start. The food is great - let’s not get away from that fact and is the reason this wasn’t a 1 star review so my hats off to the kitchen crew. They tried to cram all nine of us onto a table just big enough for 4. After that was solved it took another 35 mins just to get a drinks order in, we’ve had to guide the waiting staff to all of our needs at every step and literally chase them for everything we’ve required. The management is quite frankly poor. They’ve removed their bar area and turned it into dining, that never ends well.It should not take 3 hours to eat - it also meant we’ve missed a paid for booking at our next venue. This was a works Xmas party too.Dissatisfied is an understatement. Whole Night ruined.

Read some great reviews and was really looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the service and the quality of food. The roast potatoes were lovely but the beef wellington, although looked wonderful, was rather tasteless and bland. The Yorkshire pudding was hard and over cooked.Overall disappointed with a meal that cost us just over £90.No engagement from staff or smiling faces which also hindered the experience. However, there were lovely views of Borough market and the restaurant itself was beautiful.

They were very generous and attentive to our glasses. The tea was also very nice quality and a lovely selection - the mint tea was real, fresh mint! The food was beautifully presented and the portions were adequate - the cakes ended up being very filling. It was a very traditional selection. We found the cakes a bit stodgy but thats only a nit-pick. Otherwise it was all good quality and clearly homemade. Came here randomly whilst browsing around borough market. We were given a very nice seating area by the window and it was amazing! Ordered scotch egg as starter and was amazed by the taste here. I ordered beef Wellington as usually it’s quite hard to order that dish for one person. I was a bit disappointed the fact the beef Wellington was cooked medium rather than medium rare. My wife ordered lamb rump and she struggled to cut the meat with normal knife. I had to request for steak knife to cut the meat. The potatoes were nice and fluffy. Although the staff didn’t really ask if we needed any other condiments like ketchup or mayonnaise. I had to request for that. Overall I think the service may need a bit of improvement, guess it was too busy for the amount of orders in the restaurant.
