British restaurant with crisp tablecloths, a gin cocktail menu, mezzanine floor and BYO on Mondays.
Went for brunch post Big Half run. Going to be late so phoned ahead and that was totally fine. Staff greeted us warmly and as we were wanting brunch urged us to order asap which we did; grateful for their attentiveness. We both ordered poached eggs and bacon with a side of black pudding. Everything was delicious, couldnt fault it. However we both only got a semi circle of black pudding. This is charged at £2 each. When I queried with the waitress we were told that the portion size. Not close to value for money. Little bit disappointed by this which marred an otherwise great brunch.Recommend but perhaps be wary of additional unless the kitchen increase the portion size.Food fab, staff great and ambiance is nice.
Had breakfast here, which I didn’t know they did, and it was pretty good. They use eggs with really yellow almost orange yolks. I had the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. The bubble and squeak looked really amazing!
Brilliant food - we loved the burrata, kids sausage and mash and steak. Friendly staff although service can be a little slow at times. Very child friendly. Kids eat for free on weekdays.
I really love the atmosphere and the setting of this place. It is really cozy and has a good vibe. The staff and service are very friendly. The major disappointment was the menu. Rivington used to have an amazing burger on the menu which has been removed. When I inquired - I was told that the menu changes regularly (not buying it but ok). It seems bizarre that a restaurant removes one of their most popular dishes on the menu. When I was handed the "Veganuary" special menu I sort of understood why. There used to also be some delicious steaks on the menu which were replaced with a single overpriced ribeye steak option. I went for the roast beef (picturedwhich was delicious. My friends both went for the chicory walnut salad (which had one single walnut in it and had to ask for additional walnuts). Still a viable option I think if you are in the area which is overrun by bog standard pubs or the high street regulars. Are we to expect being ashamed of wanting to order meat at a restaurant in the near future? I hope not.
Visited this place recently and couldnt fault it for anything. Service was great, the place is very cosy! Really good coffee and the food was delicious! The prices are also very reasonable, will definitely be returning!
Food is pretty nice but would expect a bit better for the cost if being honest. For those that like a pie, The pie is not really a pie, more a soup with a pastry lid. Tasty lid though! Parking right next door, free after 6.30pm, very nice atmosphere for a meal.
Really enjoyed our dinner here in the heart of Greenwich. Easy walk from the observatory. Relaxed atmosphere and well prepared British fare served by polite staff. Nice bar area too.
I went for Sunday lunch 2 slices of beef on a small plate with a small portion of sliced carrot with two shavings of turnip. The Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes all 3 of them were nice . I could not cut the beef as the knife was blunt . The staff were dressed scuffy the waitress had shoes which looked like she had run 2 marathons in .and when I told the waiter how blunt the knife was he told me I should have asked for a stake knife . The place is over rated and very over priced for what is on offer we will carry on using the oyster bar and the gypsy moth for Sunday lunch .
Had a great meal here last week, main course and dessert . Had the chilli linguine with basil and pine nuts, adding prawns. So good, highly recommend. And also the plum crumble! Would definitely return, service excellent as well.
Went for brunch and was underwhelmed. Had the Eggs Benedict which was over-poached (hard centrefor our entire table of 10. Price was high considering quality we received. Service was attentive but a bit slow. Could benefit from gluten-free options, which were not available.
Stunning food, service and ambience
Good scallops although a bit light on the amount. Monkfish was well prepared with the coconut rice but not at the level of a typical curry house. Go early before 7 for a discount on drinks.
Excellent fish here-- fresh caught whole lemon sole with capers, small new potatoes; monkfish and prawns in masala sauce over coconut rice. And of course wonderfully crafted gin drinks ( choose from some 270 gins). Many beef dishes as well. Gracious, friendly staff, lovely outdoor patio seating for warm days.
great food and service! was there for few times and Ill definitely be back asap 👌🏻
We had a leisurely lunch and drinks here one weekday afternoon. The restaurant was quiet and service was great. I tried the set menu - ribs, spring vege risotto and crumble. Couldnt fault any of them and loved the real custard!
Went for brunch. Lovely spot. The brunch is reasonably priced - I had the bubble & squeak with eggs + mushroom + toast which was £6.50ish and delicious. Coffee a little pricey at £3.00 for an Americano, but nice staff and a setting. Perfect spot for a bite before Greenwich exploring
We arrived early for our reservation and took a seat at the bar. The friendly barman recommended a G&T from one of the 240+ gins they stock! It was subtle and refreshing and set the tone for our evening. We took our seat and the friendly waiting staff continued the good service. Recognising that my wife was pregnant they knew that some things on the menu werent appropriate. What they did serve was surprisingly fresh and better quality than Id expected. The bread that accompanied our food was equally good. It was a pleasant surprise in a world of chain restaurants to experience quality and unpretentious service. Well definitely be returning.
Great location in Greenwich to dine! Food was great! Service was awesome and an overall pleasant experience. Would highly recommend, even though a reservation in advance would be best on weekends.Good place to eat for families with children.
I visited Rivington for sunday roast with my girlfriend and we both loved it! The staff were super friendly and attentative. They also have a huge range of Gin from all over the world and a "Gin of the day" which I tried and really liked. I will definitely be back for their G&T happy hour.
The Rivington takes its menu seriously and delivers some of the best flavours in the neighbourhood. It’s the little touches here that elevate the flavour profiles of each plate; adding a hint of fresh mint leaves to mushy peas for example. It also boasts a deftly curated gin selection and the service team is remarkable. Perfect for any occasion.
First time dined here - food, atmosphere and of course the gin menu were all excellent. What makes this place stand out from others is the service. The staff are really attentive. Florian looked after our table and was the best informed waiter we have ever experienced.
Myself and my partner went here for a Valentines meal and it was lovely. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. We shared the potted shrimps to start and then I had the Barnsley Chop and my partner had the Pork Tomahawk. Both were very good. Would go again for a special occasion. Menu on the pricey side but the quality is great.
Lovely place for a Sunday roast. The food was great and portions generous. The waiter was also very lovely and made us feel right at home.It does get busy so recommend booking ahead for the weekends especially. They have plenty of tables inside and some out in the sun too.
Friendly local restaurant with a classy menu and great bar. Sunday roasts and fish n chips are excellent. Not cheap but excellent quality. Just beware if you dont like dogs as they are allowed at the bar with their owners.
We have eaten here on quite a few occasions. Only really at lunch (who gets to go OUT on date nights for DINNER when you have a little one to look after?!;it is usually really nice. The food can sometimes not quite be up to scratch considering the price point - which I dont think is too high when its good!! The burgers here arent great. We often dash all over the menu eating from the grill or the meat. Our little girl loves the childrens menu. Mostly the staff are friendly and helpful.
Dined here on and off for the last 5 years - this restaurant has been consistently excellent. Not much has changed in that time, save for an expansion in the selection of gins - the quality of food and the service have been of a high standard throughout. Worth a look if you are in the area, perhaps call ahead to reserve a table as it can be popular.
Not the most innovative or exciting restaurant in SE10, but undoubtedly the most consistent high performer. Its smart, comfortable and friendly. Ive never had a bad meal in tens of visits. Theres a solid wine list and roughly 400,000 different gins to choose from (if youre a gin chooser).Theres also jazz on occasional Friday nights. Love it!
We went for a meal at the Rivington while visiting London to go to the 02 for the ELO Concert. The staff were very efficient & the meals we ordered were very nice. Drinks are a bit pricy at £9 for a vodka & lemonade though. Welcoming atmosphere good service. Would go again if we are that area, & it was only 90 yards around the corner from the Ibis hotel we stayed at.
Went to the Rivington in Greenwich yesterday to celebrate our granddaughters 1st birthday, with friends and family. From the moment we walked in to leaving we were looked after so well. The service, food and beverages were excellent. Our waiter, Florian, was superb in his advice and service given. Everyone enjoyed the experience and the celebration - and 3 children under 4 were very well behaved - phew! We will return.......
Made a mistake with my meal, but fixed it quickly with no quibble and then discounted 25%.Food is lovely, nothing gourmet, but tasty and filling. Staff are incredibly courteous, especially our server who went out of his way to do everything he could and clear the table to make space.
Poor service. We booked ahead and the service on arrival was no smile, sullen and a bit slow. We arrived around 7:30pm. They waited until we’d ordered everything before eventually telling us there was no sirloin and didn’t take on board that we weren’t happy that a steak place had no steaks. They didn’t suggest alternatives, apologise or seem to care. When we stood up to leave they said nothing and no one even asked what the concern was as we left. Won’t visit again. Recommend you treat with caution. Our experience - and we only wanted a nice evening with good food - was overpriced and arrogant.
Great bar/brasserie in the centre of Greenwich. Not far from the train and attractions. Pleasant traditional fare and good service. Good lunch spot or resting spot when doing the tourist thing in Greenwich. A little quieter than some.
The most lovely meal I had on my trip to London! Great staff, helpful and informative! I am uninitiated when it comes to gin and they had some fantastic insight and I loved all my cocktails! I enjoyed a delicious meal on their beautiful patio! This is the spot to get traditional british food that tastes amazing!
Service was exceptional Daniel the bartender is fabulous. My husband and I were on our honeymoon stopped in for a drink and ended up going back for Sunday roast. The food tastes amazing, but the drinks phenomenal. Daniel made specially crafted cocktails that were splended.
Great atmosphere, the service was very friendly and professional. The only reason Ive marked down is because the steak I order was pretty underwhelming as it was slightly overcooked, the starter and dessert were beautiful. I had a scallop ceviche and raspberry bakewell tart both rather delicious.
Were told that are fully booked for mothers day service, when we said that the bar sits will be good as well got a reply that service will be extremely long and we were better off not staying. Tables that were suppose to have been booked, were free throughout the 2 hours we spent there. Food arrived at a very reasonable time. Were very confused by the hosts attitude. Were slightly suprised by the service charge added for having food at the bar, which is not usually the case even on prior occasions at this place. On the up side - great food as always (best breakfast in greenwich), bar staff are extremely friendly and helpful. All and all would have been perfect as always if not for the attitude of the host / manager.
Lovely staff, delicious and good quality food, warm atmosphere! Such a wide variety of wines and gin ! Love their Sunday roast, but they are very busy, so dont forget to book a table !!! Place where you come back. Kids friendly too! Have private place upstairs so if you want to have a private dinner party, its perfect.
The Rivington is one of the finer establishments in Greenwich. It has a nice bar and atmosphere. The food is very good but expect to pay a premium, it’s pricey. Great selection of cocktails but not that many craft ales / beers. If you’re feeling flush then it’s recommended but if you fancy a relaxed pint then there are plenty of other local pubs that’ll do the trick.
Staff were friendly and the food was tasty. Quite overpriced for what it was though. Id expect to pay that for fine dining. The live music did make it special. Can highly recommend the crab starter and lamb main. The cocktails and drink selection was also brilliant.
Wow its all about the Gin here and quite rightly so! They have over 170 different bottles. Nice trying to test them all :)
Great food. Great staff. Do not forget to try the Tom Collins (gincocktail, the Dressed Cornish Crab and... the most lovely terrace.
Having spent a lovely day in Greenwich, my wife and I decided to stay for some food and drinks. Luckily we heard some smooth sounding jazz spilling out of the Rivington Bar & Grill as we passed, so we went in to investigate and found a lovely restaurant and bar with a very chilled atmosphere. We settled down to enjoy some beer and wine, and having studied the menu decided to eat there too. The staff were excellent, the beer was superb and the food was delicious! Not cheap and cheerful, rather it was great quality and good value. The band playing so smoothly turned out to be quaintly named Pocket Cat and feature five talented young musicians trained at the nearby Trinity Laban college. They clearly have a great future as they provided the perfect backdrop to a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing evening. The band apparently play on the first Friday every month from 9pm, so we will definitely be back for more!
Great service and good variety on the menu.
Great service, well-prepared food.
Definitely worth popping in. I really want to try their breakfast.Popped in for a Sunday night dinner. Id been told by a friend they served him one of his top three steaks of all time, so I had to go. Enter Murphy and his law, they were out of ribeye.I had the devilled kidneys and the rack of lamb, they were both excellent. I have it on good authority the potted shrimp and chicken pie were also decent. So all in all the food was good (but I didnt get the steak...)The gin and tonics were also rather nice, I know its very in at the moment. But they did do a good job nonetheless. It would have been 5* but they forgot one of my gin and tonics, and were out of steak and ice cream. Which is kind of basic...Definitely pop in if you want a cheeky dinner! Its good value and theyre super friendly.Regarding breakfast. They do boiled egg and soldiers, and a whole host of wonderful things. So I definitely need to try it!
This place was fantastic. We showed up without a reservation on a Saturday evening and were seated quickly. The service was timely and all the staff that were at our table were lovely! Our server immediately knew what items had allergens and I had an excellent gluten free meal. The prawn and avocado starter was so good! I cant wait to come back here.
Great service, especially from the bar staff. Cocktails were delicious and Sunday roast was really good. They were however not full but still squeezed us in by the door and this however meant we didnt get as much attention. I will still go back because I liked the atmosphere
Rivington specialise in traditional British dishes brought up to date. Theres a good selection of light bites and snacks as well as a range of starters, main courses etc, so it is possible to enjoy a good meal on a limited budget (though you could easily blow £60-£80 a head if you chose to). I had devilled kidneys on toast followed by fish and chips and both were pretty good. Theres also a nice atmosphere, though service was a little erratic despite the restaurant not being busy. Overall though, a good experience.
Not worth the wait!My wife and I booked to have dinner here last Friday. Upon arrival we were informed it was busier than expected so we might experience a longer wait for our food, no worries - as long as we had a drink we were fine with that.40 minutes later and we STILL hadnt received our G&Ts, let alone ordered our food. During this time we didnt even get an apology from our waiter. Ended up walking out and within 5 minutes went to Davys and had a nice cold G&T on our table and our food order taken. An absolute joke!
We had the dinner at the Greenwich one on Sunday 24/04.No impressions with the food at all, in term of food quality & very poor presentation. For me as one always go out in the Canary Wharf area more often: the food standards in this place is like a pub food rather a restaurant standard. The service in this place is great, very helpful and friendly. The only shame is food quality, as its on a very lovely location.Hardly find a decent real quality of food in centre Cuttysark.I hope this place would get better in near future.
