Riverside celebrates the Autumn Moon Festival annually at the Heritage House on Magnolia Avenue. Its an opportunity to showcase this Victorian home and property.

They operate on donations here, its well worth 5$. I only wish their website was better about providing info about their special events (fancy teas, etc). I cant wait to go again in October for their Victorian funeral wake event.

Loved the tour. Very educational and informative. Its like stepping back in time. Staff and tour guide were very friendly. My kids who are 6 and 12 enjoyed it too! Cute little gift shop and lots of photo ops. Nice garden area to explore.

Riverside has been my home for 20 yrs and I cant believe its my First time visiting Heritage House. So much fun to learn the history while spending time with my loved ones. Everyone was welcoming and a pleasure.

Amazing place to visit, free of charge yet tipping is encouraged to maintain the grounds and the house.Such a lovely experience and a pleasant visit

It was a experience seeing how people lived back then. It is a amazing scenery throughout the area. Gives one pause to think how lucky we are now days from how people had to live.

Took my Granddaughter with me and she loved it as much as I did. The tour guide was amazing, definitely a must see. A lot of great history learned.

The house is a good size, and the tour guide will take you to all of the rooms and show you every nook and cranny of the house. Theyll also give a brief history of the owners, the house itself.

Gorgeous home fell in love with it. Great experience for the kids.

The house is beautiful! Theres so much to take in, cant wait to return. While we were there, the house was decked out in traditional Victorian mourning style and we learned history about those times. Our tour guide was great, he was the older gentleman. Answered all of our questions and more.

I just went there a couple seconds ago and I gotta tell you the history and the thought put into that house is outstanding. It is so beautiful in there I cant describe it you have to see it for yourself.

Highly recommend this place, original pieces from the late 1800s when the house was built. The entry/tour is free but they encourage donations in order to maintain the place. They are so informative and kind, love the furniture and all the artifacts they have in this home.

Hidden Riverside history worth visiting. I will be back for the tour upstairs. Check out the stove with the oven ontop, upper left. I enjoy the ingenuity, thought, and craftsmanship that went into building the house.

This is an absolutely amazing house the staff is incredibly kind and knowledgeable this is a 10 out of 10 for any history buff and on some days they have tea in the back yard and stories its absolutely amazing for anybody looking to find out how California was created

Took my daughter here 4 years ago for a school project it was pretty cool love the garden area during the spring and summer!

always love any visit to this place!! riverside history at its finest!! my daughter loves their ice cream socials, gets a lil packed due to not a lot of space to roam when they have event because everyone in riverside is there, but like i said i always love to visit any chance i get!!

This is such a beautiful Victorian home in Riverside. In June they will have the house open for tours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Whether youve lived in Riverside for years or are just visiting, this is an interesting museum. Volunteers give guided tours throughout this beautiful historic home. You learn some history and see some beautiful architecture and art. The tour takes well over an hour and its all walking and standing so probably not the best for children, unless theyre really into history. There is also no elevator in the home so anyone in a wheelchair or who has trouble walking/for a long time would not be able to get to see the second floor.

Very knowledgeable staff who clearly enjoy their job. Gift shop is great. Stairs are well supported but not suitable for seniors with mobility issues. Definitely recommend this place as place to visit.

SO good for a free museum experience! You walk in and a tour guide in costume greets you immediately and takes you on a private, informative tour. I was expecting to just wander around the place alone, but it was a fully guided 40-or-so-minute tour. Lots of interesting info about the time period, even if youre not super into history. Definitely worth donating a tip at the end.

I have gone to the heritage house twice now and still just as amazing. Love the Victorian era, and the tour guides seem to somewhat dress to fit the whole energy of the place. We need more of that craftsmanship in todays builds, shoe box like home are dull and have no character. $5 is fare minimum asking donations, but it deserves a whole lot more.

This is a jewel. I always like attending the special events and learning something new about the past. Bring the kids! Thank you forcall who keep this going.

The house is amazing, so much detail in the wood work,original furniture, and the Orginal kitchen.

The Riverside Heritage House is beautiful, ornate and well-kept. Our tour guide was super informative (she was a volunteer!). Great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday.

Had a great time at the ice cream social. There were a lot of event and crafts for my little boys. Come early, as soon as it starts because the crowd gets big.

Dont miss the tour in this beautifully preserved 1891 Victorian home. Could not believe I was seeing this home with items of the original owner, and even the kitchen that later owners kept untouched. A real step back in time.

The tour was interesting and well done. My girlfriend and I were just driving around and she spotted the house and so we decided to check it out and it was a pleasant surprise. Great History!!

This is a beautiful Victorian home that Mrs. Bettner built when she moved to Riverside. Now attached to the Riverside Municipal Museum. A must visit place to get a history of a Riverside in the early days of the city.

My oldest sister had her wedding in the Heritage House in the early 1970s when the City first took it over. I think it was the only wedding ever in that house. She had a Rolls Royce and a Packard ride from that House to the Backstreet Restaurant for the Reception. Ill never forget that day.

We have attended several special events here and always enjoy ourselves. The moon festival in September, the Victorian Christmas and the ice cream social have all been delightful experiences. The events are free of charge and family friendly.

A faithful and carefully restored Victorian home built in 1892. Open most weekends of the year. The docents (who dress in period attirelead guided walking tours and they know their stuff! There are occasional special events like an ice cream social and herb garden tours. The outside grounds and 1st floor are wheelchair accessible. Parking is in the back with access via a large iron gate facing Magnolia Ave. A real glimpse into life as it was at the turn of the century. Very young children will likely be uninterested, leave the strollers outside and leave the pets at home. You will get some unique photos come away with a tangible sense for life at the turn of the century Riverside.
