Riverside Camp and Marina - in Petersburg, United States
WE LOVE THEM! Big shout out to the good people at Riverside! Chickahominy river has always been so special to us. Riverside Camp and Marina is our go-to for cottage and boat rental. We especially enjoy renting a pontoon from them, and they have superb customer service. They are down to earth, friendly, and make every trip wonderful for us.
My family loved our stay at Riverside! The owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. Renting the pontoon was the highlight of our stay. We will definitely return.
Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a few days in one of the cabins, we loved it. The cabins are nice and staff are so sweet and helpful, the pamphlet they give you has local restaurants they recommend and we tried a few and all were great. The view of the lake when you wake up is amazing and also it has plenty of fish to catch from the bank, dock, or using the boat the ramp to go out on the water. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a nice getaway with great people, especially if you love fishing.
This is place is amazing! Ive been here countless times, and everytime I come here I feel at peace. The owners are very homely, caring. They make sure everyone is good and taken care of. The environment is peaceful, the cabins and the boats are very well maintained. This place is to get away from the hustle and bustle. This isnt a 5⭐️ hotel. But it definitely is a 5 🌟 place to go to when you want peace and fun. They have many things in the store, and fun people around you. No animosity. Try this place.
We just camped there for fathers day and it was great. Our kids had a blast swimming in the river and fishing. The weather was amazing. It was one of the best times we had so fast.
We loved our stay at this campground. There are only a few RV spaces, and on the water. It is well kept and clean. They offer full hook ups, and are very convenient. They have a cool little store with a variety of food, snacks, ice cream, fishing equipment and bait, campground swag, and anything you left behind. The owners couldnt have been nicer. They are fairly new owners, and really care about the campground and guests. They even hand delivered my Amazon package with a laptop charger I forgot. 💌 There are many full-timers and permanent sites here, like their own community. They are in the process of changing out the picnic tables, which really, besides super Internet, is my only recommendation. Comes with a fire pit, picnic table, level spaces, and offer wood for sale (which you get quite a bit for the $), and delivered to your site. They also have cute cabins in which you can rent. They are also a marina, and was a little worried about traffic and noise (especially since there was a fishing tournament our Saturday). It is still very quiet!!! We both loved it, and plan to come back with family.
We loved this campground! Its right on the Chickahominy River, and all the sites and cabins have river views, and a gorgeous sunrise we loved watching over the water. The owner was super friendly and helpful, and the campsites have all the amenities you need for a great getaway!
Wish We Had More Time Here!Small but sweet spot on the Chickahominy River. Management went out of their way to tell us about the area and sites to see. Very nice people! Little general store onsite. Water view campsite with full hookups was roomy and peaceful. Fishing off their pier was fun and the sunrise and moonrise over the water were beautiful. We wanted to go kayaking and wished we had another day to spend. Highly recommend it, at least for off-season. It looks like it may be busier in the summer with seasonal campers.
My husband and I rented a boat today. We are very familiar with the chickahominy River, we had a wonderful day. The price was very very good for the boat rental. I cannot wait until we go and rent the cabin and rent a boat and just have to go back to the cabin instead of an hour drive. Thank you to the owners for such great hospitality
A lovely place on the Chickahominy river. Great views! The owners are super nice and accommodating. Amenities include full hookups, a boat ramp, beach, WiFi, laundry, bath house, and clear sky for antenna TV. Highly recommend! It’s a nice quite park close to Williamsburg and West Point. Lots of river (Rivahactivities nearby. The park is clean with lots of grassy areas. I can’t say anything bad about this place, it’s quiet quaint and beautiful!
Called and made last minute reservations on a Friday. The owners were very nice and informative about the area. Campground is family oriented, small, and well kept! The perfect place to stay passing through.
My buddy and I just spent a week in a deluxe cabin. It was perfect for our needs. All the comforts and conveniences of home with a boat launch and the Chickahominy River right there. It made our "eat, fish, sleep" plans easy. We found the cabin furnished and clean and the owners pleasant and helpful. Certainly hope to do it again.
My husband and I stayed here! I loved it! Stayed in a basic cabin and it was just enough. Beautiful area with shade and when we werent fishing aitting out on the porch of the cabin was wonderful enjoying just being away. The owner I think her name waa Jennifer 😌 was on it all the time and very helpful! Family owned camp ground, kid able to run around and play, had a few issues but it was handled immediately; which happens! I you want fancy this is not your place but if you want to enjoy nature, fishing and life this is the most fun Ive had!!! We will be going back!!❤❤
Amazing place!Great fishing, super friendly staff and,we totally loved our camping spot.
Just spent a nice couple of days at the campground. The owners were super nice, helpful in many ways and the park was on the river with a great view.
My daughter wanted to go "tent camping" for the 1st time. chickahominy state park was full, so we ended up here. The location of the tent spot was amazing, thats why they got 2 stars. If you set your tent up right, you woke up to the best view. Not much customer service. You have to be a regular if you want any interaction from her.You could tell they lack on up keep. Everything was worn down and/or partly broken. We booked 3 days. On the last night it was going to storm. A tent is not the best place for lighting. Especially with a 7-year-old, she agreed. But then would not refund the 35$, because it was the same day.She glanced at the weather app, "I see only 40% chance"... Whatever attitude. We nicely left a day early before check out anyways.I wont be returning to this place.
Owners were so friendly and helpful! We rented a boat from them and fished all day. It was raining the whole day, but we had a LOT of fun! The boat was perfect because it had a cover which helped :They made me feel at ease. We didnt stay overnight so I cant speak to the cabins, however the people that were camping were very friendly as well. Thank you for a good time!
I want to start by saying the new owners of this campground are some of the nicest people we have met on our travels. That said I have to give an honest review. There are some low trees on the road to the campground we are 13ft 6in and made minor contact with some branches. The campground is beautiful and well kept. We had an issue with the 50amp site, my surge protector showed bad wiring. The owners said they would fix it. We used the 30 amp which checked out ok. The water has a sulfur smell. The owner said it comes and goes. The price was below average for the area at about $43 dollars a nite full hookups. There is a boat ramp and fishing. I hope the owners can get a filtration system to correct the water problem. If so we would definitely stay again. We decided to move to a different campground and they were very professional, apologetic and refunded our money.
We just bought our camper and stayed here for the weekend. It is a lovely place. Quiet with very friendly people. My girls had a lot of fun playing and swimming. We will be back.
Love this place! Right on river great views quiet camp store on the grounds and the owners are great people and always helpful would recommend riverside to anyone
Lovely family owned. Great little spot to camp and head out on the river
I live around here so I always support and love my Local businesses! ❤❤ Love them! Amazing place!
Right on the Chickahominy River. Flat sites. Very nice people running the place. Wifi was mostly great, (it would go out here and there, but not for very long and all I had to do was contact the owners and they’d run out and fix it). There are a few rundown permanent trailers in the park. Regardless, I would stay here again.
Stopped in for snacks and very friendly folks. Want a great relaxing day visit the Chickahominy!
Place has really come around since it got new owners! Hope they keep up the good work...
Great people and nice relaxed campground
Great lil get away. Nice folks, good fishing and great customer service!!!!!
Love it! Great place to get away for a few days and enjoy the water. Staff is absolutely amazing!
Great family running this campground. Loved them xoxox thank yall so much!!!
Peaceful, easy access to ramps & docks (for fishing!!& affordable jon boat rrentals!!
Friendly, laid-back and helpful owners. Our full-hookup site was just steps from the river. We enjoyed sitting on the dock in the evenings. We rented a boat from them as well to explore the river, at a very reasonable rate. Highly recommend!
Great family vacation spot. Upon our late arrival the owners still greeted us kindly. We originally were tent camping but then got rained out and decided to rent a cabin that was available. The owners were very friendly and willing to accommodate all of our needs. Enjoyed fishing and jetsking. Overall the campground was quiet and peaceful and kept clean and grounds maintained well.
Not a place to camp! It looked like I was camping in a junk yard. There were a lot of old trailers that look like they have been for years, the grass hadnt been cut, and there was no real campsite just a grassy area. The so called "campsite" had a lot of tall grass and mud thats all. Definitely not worth the money and a huge disappointment. Stay 1 night and left.Response from owner said I picked a different site but I was told from the man at the counter to pick one spot from the grassy spot. He even walked out with me and showed me the area. He never said anything about a site number. He just said park whatever. As for it being a real campsite it had a fire ring, table, and hookup. As for the gravel pad I didnt see any probably from all the overgrown grass. The site was very unkempt. I dont mean to give a bad review but dont mislead campers into expecting a campsite when you obviously dont have one. You have more of a rv trailer park. You could have explained the "camp" when we spoke on the phone especially after I told you we were coming from over 2 1/2 hours away. Just be honest with people. You said we were away from permanent live-in campers but the fifth wheel right beside us had white plumbing pipe hooked into his sewage. My pictures of the "campsite" would show it all. As for my husband reviewing it; he was a customer too so why wouldnt he review it. Im sorry if it hurts your rating but you definitely dont deserve a 4 rating.
My husband and I stayed in the deluxe cabin and it was super clean and lovely. The cabin is beautiful and the view from the front porch is fantastic. The couple that runs the camp is very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.
Friendly staff and great views of the water. Quiet campsites and cabins. We stayed in the deluxe cabin, clean, comfortable, and great sunrise from the porch overlooking the water.
Not a place to camp. It had a bunch of old campers with people living in them. Our "campsite" was an uncut grassy spot with mud. We stay one night because the owners told my wife they wouldnt refund our first nights deposit. We cancelled the rest of our stay and got out of that place fast. I dont know how they have such a high rating because it is a dump. Dont waste your time and money on this place.
Own a camper down here and totally love it!
Absolutely love the peacefulness, the family-like atmosphere, and of course the river (fishing is great).
Quiet and small but loaded with fun things to do on river. Rent a jon boat or launch your own then stay the night.
Nice and quiet and owner is friendly and has alot of knowledge of the river. Nice big catfish here.
Great place to stay! Tent camped here and it was perfect. The owners were really nice and helpful. The price was great and we were right on the water! The bathroom was a little small but clean and just fine! Very peaceful stay, theres a train that passes through nearby but it wasnt too loud. Would recommend! Also it is pet friendly!
Stayed in our camper for 2 nights, super nice owners, very accommodating and we will definetely return!
Been camping there now going 6 years and enjoy every moment of it.
Mike and Sandy are super nice and always around if you need anything. We had the pleasure of staying in their deluxe cabin (a home away from homefor 3 full days and it was exactly what we needed. The river was right outside our door, the neighbors were nice, and we were very comfortable with air conditioning and real beds. The full kitchen and grill outside gave us the ability to have real food, three times a day instead of eating out or the traditional camping grub. The local Food Lion grocery store was about 20 mins or so away so we were able to get everything we needed to really enjoy out relaxing weekend and when I forgot sugar for the coffee the Riverside Camp convenience store had it on hand. Thank you Mike and Sandy for a great time and we look forward to coming back next year!
A very nice camping experience, with friendly proprietors and service. Camped along the historic Chickahominy River with its breathtaking views. Great boat ramp, rental boats, and swimming area. My go to place for getting my head back on straight.
Ive been around here my whole life ( 32 yrsThe family who owns this place are good people.
My wife and I have been using the facilities at Riverside Camp for over 30 years and we have NEVER had a problem of any kind. Mike and Sandy are two of the best and most friendly hosts a person could ask for. Plujs the Chicahominy River fishing is the Absolute Best in Virginia. Give it a try.
This place is great. We had a blast in 08 and the upgrades look totally AWESOME.Mike and Sandy are great hosts. When we retire in a couple of years, we will be heading back down for some more relaxing on the river.
We have been camping here for the last 10 yrs almost every mothers day week and will continue to do so .Absolutely love it there ! My kids enjoy everything about being right on the river and all the fishing ! We love John and Sandy to pieces .
Have rented a campsite here before. It is a great campground right on the river with a boat ramp, and piers to tie the boats right to. Have never had bad service, it was a great time. I plan on going again later this year
