River Rock Waterfalls - Tourist attraction in Castries, Saint Lucia
It is considered dangerous, its closed to visitors because of snakes, its not up kept no more, but none the less I made the trip in on my own agnist the advice of the locals.
The road to get there is in terrible condition. The "park" will be seen in and out in 5 minutes, it is muddy, unmaintained, the "falls" are artificial as are the pools - which isnt necessarily a problem - and it looks derelict, theres trash laying around.Asking money for this is quite shameless.
Das war mal gut. Aber jetzt eine ungepflegte Ruine. Lohnt nicht.
Excellent little place to stop! The lady at the bottom of the street said we shouldn’t go up there because it’s dangerous and there’s no security...but being a white American tourist I decided that I’d risk it, haha!A couple minutes up the road, and the people that collect the money came out and I gave them $20 EC for myself and my wife. 2 miles later we parked and less than 5 minutes we were at the falls. Great place! The hours listed seem to be wrong, I’m sure it’s open all the time. The last part of the road would be a little rough for a low 2wd car, but probably make it. Everyone else we saw was friendly.
It was okay.
Beautiful and serene!
Fantastic place. Just for 10ECD you can enter and walk through astonishing, rain forest. At the and of a trail there are charming pond and the waterfall. The owner will treat you with fresh grapefruit, coco fruit and coconuts. Road to the place is a bit rough so offroad car might help a lot, small car will make it too but then one must be extra cautious
We attempted to visit this place yesterday and were told in no un-certain terms that as white westerners we would not be safe if we continued to drive further up the track which leads to the falls. There seems to be a theme here with other places in St Lucia that are not clearly set aside as Tourist areas.
Would have been good in its prime, but unfortunately it has become very unmaintained. When I went j could only drive half way and walked the rest. No attendant at the hut at the entrance but after we were there for 15 - 20 min someone met us at the shelter inside and requested payment. I do not remember the cost now. The phone number written was also disconnected. It is unfortunate the place is not better maintained, could be a nice spot. Otherwise not really worth the treck, St.lucia offers many more accessible and more maintained falls.
Long single lane narrow lonely road, 4WD needed to traverse the terrain, do not suggest going there if the rain is falling. Small waterfall that needs immense cleaning of its surroundings.
We visited the falls in July, 2017. The road/path in grows increasingly less well maintained and in rainy times can be difficult to traverse without 4WD. The path opens out into a grassy parking area with a hut where an attendant collects the fee. There was no attendant during our visit. The rest of the way in is a rugged and wet footpath. There is a rustic hut where you can leave your things while swimming. The pool was murky and man-made. They have created a low wall to trap the water. The falls are more like water running down stair-steps, with actual stairs carved in the rock for climbing. Im giving it low marks for difficult and aesthetics as we have been to several of the other falls and fount them to be far better than this one. It was nice to have it all to ourselves however.
Lovely peaceful place, but make sure you go in a 4x4 and wear good footwear as a terrible road!!!
Beautiful! But not a traditional high waterfall.
lohnt sich nur bedingt, wenn man von der Hitze genug hat...!
