1936 Rogue River Hwy, Grants Pass, OR 97527, United States, Grants Pass
Bi-level eatery with an outdoor patio & river views, serving a New American menu in a warm ambiance.
Very nice restaurant on the Roque River in Grants Pass. Lunch and dinner menus are served all day. We dined outside at a table that overlooked the river and watched the water fowl fly by. Nice server too.
"Oh I forgot its your birthday, heres your ice cream".....We just bought our house last year had a baby who just turned 1... with the current inflation I was pleasantly surprised when my boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner, Like he does every year. Its our escape from reality even if for an hour. Years past its always been an amazing meal and service etc. This year not so much. We are super chill and laid back, we dont complain about anything, and I was a waitress for years. But when you pay $150 for a meal for 2, an appetizer and a bottle of champagne, because its your birthday, and get literally the worst service its enough for us to never want to come back.....Our $45+ dollar steak meals were wrong, one super rare, bloody, and the other well done when we asked for medium for both. Potatoes and 5 pieces of asparagus. Like I said we never complain but it just didnt feel right to not mention it on here, we traded plates and ate our meal, enjoying our conversation without being interrupted by anyone of our 4 children, not having to cook or do dishes after... we could care less about our steaks....Got desert which was good... and then our waitress brought the tiny scoop of ice cream with a candle "oh, I forgot its your birthday .. or something...."Never asked us how our meal was, just assumed....And then proceeded to tell us that she was probably going to be busy with the other , bigger table for awhile and that we should probably pay.now... they had already ordered and received their meals... ??? Ok..???....This review was hard for me to write, everyone has "bad days" we are human but when you work at this "higher" end restaurant you fake it to make it.... especially when people are paying $150+ for their meal...just sayinHBD to me 🎈
Well the architecture, location, atmosphere and river views are extraordinary. The menu is not over ambitious, just thoughtful, simple and very well prepared with fresh ingredients. Foie Gras and Duck Confit... really? Is this Provence? No right here in Grants Pass. Expensive? Yes. Ive paid twice the price for half the quality. Everyone should enjoy the dining experience that is Rivers Edge.
Old neighbor’s meeting for lunch. Doors opened promptly at 12 pm right on the Dot. We were seated in the lower section over looking the river. I had there meat loaf meal, came with delicious mashed potatoes with perfectly cook asparagus. The meat was better then my wife’s meat loaf ( we won’t tell her :Appears they seared both sides of my slice that was wrapped in bacon. Definitely coming back and recommend
Dinner was amazing I had the prime rib and it was perfect. My girl had the halibut an it was perfect. The service was amazing. Dessert was on point i will be back......
5☆ across the board. Perfect spot of the river, great views and dinner was absolutely fantastic. Filet mignon was amazing 👏
Exceptional service, food, views, food and drink selection/ taste. I absolutely love this place and is a top 3 favorite in Southern OR!Edit// I forgot too add I went on my birthday and received a free fancy desert, the hospitality was felt!
Such a beautiful patio that was well designed and with the amazing river view. The service was friendly and the meals were exactly what we needed. We both got the prime rib dip that was fresh and fulfilling after hiking!
This is hands down my favorite restaurant. I love sitting on their deck overlooking the water. They had live music that added to the already perfect atmosphere. Oh and their service is excellent and the food is really delicious, too!! :I can’t wait to come back for another lovely night at River’s Edge!!
Delicious food, very serene and beautiful atmosphere, the water flowing was very soothing, great service. Not outrageous price. Will definitely dine there again if we go near Grant Pass. Wish this restaurant can be moved near our home so well dine there more often.
Phenomenal Food. Superb Service. Exquisite Environment. I met a friend here for late lunch on a Tuesday. Claire was our server, she was friendly, conscientious, smart and lovely. The restaurant is very clean. I had a great view of the river and enjoyed watching the geese across the way. I order the beet salad and tempeh sandwich. They were both delicious. The salad is served with lightly candied macadamia nuts that were tasty, the greens were fresh and the beets were perfect! The tempeh Sammie was served with a generous amount of avocado. I enjoyed it immensely. The sweet potato fries were tender and crispy, they seemed baked, not fried, which I liked. I will definitely return. Returned on a Saturday evening, loved the vegan linguini!
Food was excellent. Service was slow! People were friendly! Music was very good. Would have been 5 stars if they had been more promt.
First time having dinner here in Grants Pass. It was most delightful 😊 The atmosphere was nice, we were seated by the window so I could see the water flowing and beautiful flowers all over the back patio. The music was quite lovely 😍 The staff friendly, nice. The food and wine very good 👍 and because it was my birthday I received the most delicious dessert, chocolate, peanut butter and ice cream... oh my 🥰 Pretty spendy for us... but now and then its soo nice to have a special treat 💗 Highly recommended 👌
The River’s Edge setting is ideal. With generous outdoor seating on three levels, all diners have a lovely view of the river and banks beyond. The patios have nice plantings and the seating is comfortable. We were there on a very warm night but still the river air kept us comfortable. But the food is another thing entirely. All made of very standard Restaurant Supply pre-made ingredients, everything tastes exactly as it does anywhere else. Bottled dressings, packaged croutons, pre-made calamari seasoning, bottled chile sauce, etc. So, if getting something familiar and standard is what you are after, you will be very happy here.
My wife had taken me here for my Birthday in April and everything was outstanding. I had the Lamb Shank and it was by far the best Lamb I have ever had along with the Roasted Beet Salad, dessert, everything was Exceptional, so for her Birthday I made reservations and was expecting the same. But NOT even close. We started with a shrimp cocktail which was excellent. We ordered a bottle of wine that cost $220.00 and was the BEST wine we have ever had. We both ordered the Roasted Beet Salad again, but this time only a couple of small pieces of roasted beets in each salad. My wife ordered the Filet, medium rare, which most of it were very chewy, though the flavor was very good, just not the quality of the beef. Her Roasted parsnips were UNDER roasted. I ordered the Lamb Chops, which were EXTREMELY tough and chewy, and lacked that wonderful lamb flavor. They were served over couscous which was TOTALLY flavorless. We informed Misty our waitress who informed a young gentleman who told her to inform the kitchen staff. That was the extent of it. She said she would try the lamb chops after work to determine for her self how they were. We ordered the lime mascarpone cheese cake which was very good. We both ordered coffee, which was ok, but wished they served a higher quality of coffee, not cheap coffee. Over all after spending $415.00 for the two of us with tip we were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the meal. We were there on 07/25/2022.
This is a great restaurant!! The view is amazing youre real close to the rivers edge is the rivers edge as appropriate for the name. The food is on the pricey side but its well worth it, the ambiance is incredible. Young man was playing a guitar the music was wonderful and very a nicely picked songs. Our waiter Devon great! Food was delicious too.
One of the most ridiculously awful experiences Ive EVER had at a restaurant. Made an advance reservation here for our anniversary, requested a water front table. This restaurant is about a 35 minute drive for us from our house, but worth it (we thoughtto try somewhere new and that gets great reviews online and looks to have a beautiful setting. While we were seated outside as requested, our two table options were either next to the bussing station or tucked in the corner with a limited view, so we chose the corner table. By the time a waitress came to take our orders, about 15 minutes later, I already overheard other wait staff telling customers that they were out of several items on the limited menu. Thats fine we figured, were easygoing, our only limitation being that my husband is a vegetarian. We ordered drinks and a salad, and tried to put in our entree orders only to be told that they were out of the only vegetarian entrees on the menu. The waitress said shed check with the kitchen to see what they could come up with and in the meantime would grab our drinks. The response from the kitchen was that the signature vegetarian dish was cold pasta with olive oil, peprocini, olives and carrots served over a bed of lettuce. Maybe that sounds delicious to someone, but to us that sounded like leftover pasta which had likely been a side for something previously and was being poorly repurposed into a lackluster vegetarian offering. Still trying to roll with it, we thought maybe he could just have a salad and I would order an entree- only to learn that they were out of the two items I wanted to order on the menu. We finally gave up and decided to just order drinks and try to find somewhere else to get dinner. Wed now wasted almost an hour and had no food. I expressed to the waitress that this was our anniversary and we were pretty disappointed to have this experience, and that we seemed to have poor luck choosing restaurants for our anniversary celebration. She suggested that if we are good cooks, maybe we try cooking at home. So thats how that went. $32 for two drinks and a wasted hour of our lives. I would NEVER return to this restaurant. Horrendous customer service and clearly ill-prepared for dinner service on a Monday night.
We stopped here for dinner on a road trip. The outdoor seating is absolutely gorgeous and the food was delicious! The staff were all very friendly. The food is on the pricier side but definitely worth it.
Very busy but still not long wait time. Excellent staff. They do seem to run out of favorite desserts fast.
Nice restaurant with a great view and friendly staff. Was a little disappointed with the food for the price. The steamed clam appetizer was served without the bread. By the time the bread was served, the clams had cooled off. Shrimp was overdone, not once but twice. We ordered a ribeye at medium rare but was served closer to rare and a bit burned on the outside.
Wow! Amazing! We have come to Grants Pass as part of our honeymoon (we have come from England), and Rivers Edge Restaurant went above and beyond to make it a special meal for us! Tahyler G was our server, and she was full of good recommendations, smiles, and made our meal even more special. We were seated outside (a stunning view!and loved every part of our meal. Thank you to the full team at the restaurant - we hope to return in the future....perhaps for an anniversary!
Stunning location!!!! Right on river with lovely white noise of the current swoshing by. Dining outside with cool breezes off the river, tables arranged on 3 levels for maximum shade & privacy. Excellent attentive servers lavished us with attention & genuine smiles & good suggestions. The food was excellent (filet mignon with polenta & roasted asparagus, lamb shank with barley rissotto & cherry tomatoes). The best part: DOGS are welcome (so great if youre traveling & dont want your pet in a hot car, even if it is in the shade. The was a WINNER!!!
I will start by saying that the service was absolutely outstanding and in no way do I want to take away from the amazing the server and staff that worked with us during out dining experience...and we made sure they knew it. However, the food was absolutely sub par. Nowhere near the price they were charging in any way shape or form. I had the filet mignon and I asked for it blue and it came to me Medium Rare. The steak was dry and a bit stringy. The best part of the meal was the barely present sauce on the steak amd even that was only vaguely flavorful. The salad was so-so. My wife had the salmon medium and she said it was very dry and said she should have ordered something else entirely. A friend was there and had contacted me via text asking me ehat my experience was like since henhad spotted me there and didnt want to interrupt. We talked he shared that his food was also very bad and he stated that the best part of his meal was the soup and wished that he had just had a bigger bowl of the soup and skipped the pork. I for one am not returning there.I also found out that the person that jad made the reservation for our party had to argue with the staff for a bit about the reservation since it was made online. Although after 5 minutes of "proving" that the reservation was authentic and not for a different restaurant in a different state (we all had the text confirming the reservation the name, date and address of the restaurantthey finally found us a table. So again, the service is amazing and I dont want to take away from the amazing and hardworking employees there and how hard they worked to serve us nor even the incredible view..But the food was just awful and not worth the $91.00 for my wifes and Is meals and small half salads and 1 ice tea. So please go being aware that may be your experience as well.
Server was TERRIBLE!! I would give a 1 star for the server. When we were seated, no cutlery or napkins, when we ordered drinks, my wife ordered a "top shelf" margarita only to be corrected by our server to refer to our drink menu (that we never receivedthat they could be as high as $125.00. We have just recently moved back from New York City after 15 years there...high priced drinks arent unusual, but most servers always provided us with a cocktail menu. Had we been provided a cocktail menu, we wouldnt have been subjected to the condescending tone of our servers voice. Our appetizers of steamed clams were delicious, however being a table of four, we didnt have individual plates to serve ourselves. My wife had to ask a bus boy for cutlery and small plates for the appetizers as our server was nowhere to be found. My wife ordered a "top shelf" margarita without salt, it comes to the table WITH SALT. When we mentioned that it was ordered without salt, he acted like it was "our fault." Two of the four in our party ordered filet mignon "rare" and it came out like leather. We sent it back and he just blamed the "new chef." 45 minutes later (after the other three in the party had eatenthe new filet shows up. By that time...we had all eaten and shared our meals as we felt it rude for us to eat while she waited to another filet to show up.The food was decent and priced OK, but the server we had was TERRIBLE and should not be working with the public. We were told this was the "BEST STEAKHOUSE" in all of Southern Oregon and it would have been a great experience if we had a good server...not even a fantastic server, just a good one. The least they could have done was to have not charged us for the second filet that came out 45 minutes later, but no. Im sorry to say this restaurant needs to "upgrade" to a better server and we would have had a much better experience. Too bad the server wasnt better as over half of your dining experience determines whether or not one will return.
The food was fantastic The view was great and the staff was perfect. I was there many years ago and I was looking forward to going again my visit didnt disappoint.
Stopped here for a bite to eat whilst heading through town - the terrace out the back overlooks the river and was quite pleasant on a sunny afternoon. We had everything we needed from a service perspective but the levels of congeniality fluctuated.Huge servings, hot and fresh food. I had the tempeh sandwich and my partner got the chicken Caesar wrap. we got a calamari to share.Restrooms were clean and tidy. The other meals on the menu looked delicious - worthwhile going to check out if you are in town.
First time here. Everything was very nice. The view of the Rigue River from the bar area was ok but I wish it was better. I had Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly. A friend of mine had some kind of fish and said it was a little overcooked. Waiter was great. Rivers Edge was very clean and had a great atmosphere.
Food was ok, nothing to warrant 25 dollars for a burger and fries. Our server did her job, but, not very well. The place was clean. Drinks were sad... dont know if they had a bartender or the server threw something together??? Worst Bloody Mary ever! All in all... I wont be going back anytime soon.
Great food, beautiful atmosphere. Thank my brother Sean and Cherie for treating us!
Ridiculously expensive. $45 for a rib eye steak. If you want soup or salad its extra. Service was okay. Server must have had a mouse in his pocket or thought we were toddlers with a lot of "we" and "us". Sat for maybe 10 minutes after meeting server. Another employee noticed us and asked if we had been helped, she then told our server we wouldnt mind seeing him again. Then we made sure to order everything at once. Appetizer came, but wine...had to ask someone to ask our server if we can get it. Scott still plays wonderful music and I always love sitting on the river.Been my favorite restaurant for years. Think Ive been through at least 4 owners. My husband and I went for our anniversary the other night. Most of my favorite meals are no longer on the menu so I got the salmon. It came on a giant bed of edamame that brought absolutely nothing to the dish and I left probably 2/3 of it behind. The menu said it was wasabi-edamame cassoulet but I did not taste anything wasabi-like. Not something Id order again, although the salmon itself tasted good. Husband had lamb shank which was very good. Funny side with his too though - "barley risotto" (try pile of barley, nothing risotto-esque about it). Yes well be back because I love the place but wont be going as often as I used to, or telling my clients how perfectly fabulous it is (used to be).
“Recently came to The River’s Edge for my fiancés birthday with high hopes. Our meals were more than satisfying. Our service however was horrid. This was surprising, we had heard many great comments about the service, unfortunately our server Marin proved these all wrong. She did not bring our meals out in a timely manner and when we asked about it she was more than rude. We have never experienced worse customer service. We will not be returning.”
Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary. I ordered the duck breast and she ordered the pepper crusted filet mignon. Our only complaint is that our meat came out under and over cooked. She ordered her steak rare and it came out more on the medium side. I ordered my duck medium rare and it came out pretty rare. I sent it back, they made it right and even gave me a free dessert. Besides that, everything is always good and we always enjoy coming here. We have been eating a rivers edge for years and will continue to come here, especially for special occasions. If you want a fine dining experience in grants pass, come to rivers edge.
Loved my Oregon rosé 🍷, the live music by Scott Head, the setting right along the river and the blankets when we were cold sitting outside. Also loved the paintings and decor as an ode to fly fishing since my mother is a fly fisherwoman. But the meal itself was definitely more 3 or 4 - than 5 - stars. Also the marionberry & lemon cheesecake left a lot to be desired. Just very plain and flavorless unfortunately.
Food here was incredible! Really unique flavor combinations. The prime rib has a really delicious bone marrow chimichurri, for example instead of the traditional horseradish. The salmon dish and the filet dish also had really amazing flavor combinations. The steamer clams were buttery and delicious! The drinks were also unique and really good. Overall, the food was definitely worth the cost and I will be eating here again.
Our waitress was a gem!! So sweet and attentive. I wish I could remember her name!! The food was prepared well and the view is of course beautiful. Im pretty damn honest when it comes to reviews and a 5 star rating is VERY rare. Bravo you guys. Yall deserve a raise. 👏
Had a reservation to celebrate our friends birthdays, we were supposed to have the room but when we arrived it was taken. We got seated & ordered drinks which some got forgotten. We placed our food order only to finally get our food 2 hours later & 4 of us couldnt even eat our meals; 2 were the chicken 1 was the mojo pork & I had the duck. The sweet potato was spackled to the side of the bowl & I had to spit out the duck on my first bite. My friends birthdays were ruined, Money & time waisted.
We cruised out before the dinner rush and enjoyed a beautiful table outside! Amazing food and I mean AMAZING. Even the things our children ordered from the childs menu were delicious and fancy. Service was great, no glass went un-filled.
The food was excellent. Great flavor for everything ordered and the drinks were absolutely wonderful.
Im just visiting town but this could easily be the best restaurant in town. The ambiance in general was spectacular. The restaurant is right on the river and you can hear the sound of the water hitting the rocks nearby. The view is spectacular and at the right times of the year you can watch the sun setting downstream. The meat was cooked to perfection. They were running a special on lobster tail that was excellent. They had a pork belly appetizer that was a really fun and interesting experience. You wont find it many other places. It was covered in a chocolate hoisin sauce with coleslaw on top and tzatziki sauce. Not what I would consider a normal or average conglomeration of flavors, but it worked extremely well together. And they have an excellent selection of alcohol and mixed drinks, including a decent wine list. Thats a good thing. I dont live here because Id be eating at this restaurant on a regular basis.
Went to Rivers edge for my anniversary dinner with my wife. We had one of the best anniversary dinners weve had in our 19 years of marriage this place is wonderful! Highly recommend!
Who else likes discovering new restaurants?Id heard of @rivers.edge.grants.pass.or in the past but wed never gone for lunch or dinner because honestly it never sounded appealing to us. Well, this last weekend I was invited out to do a menu tasting of their newest seasonal menu coming out in the next couple of weeks and now I cant wait to take the family over for lunch or dinner!First things first. In spring 2021 they got new owners that completely revamped their food and cocktails, starting over with a farm to table mindset. They source their ingredients as local as possible, scratch making every dish, and handcrafting their cocktails. Their wine selection is extensive, supporting lots of wineries as well as offering wines you may not be able to find anywhere else in southern Oregon such as Caymus, Quilceda Creek, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Duckhorn among others! Call ahead and they will cork your wine for you to be ready when you arrive!Secondly, their location is absolutely gorgeous! They are located right on the Rogue River with a beautiful, large outdoor seating area that will be especially stunning in the spring. Their dining room is still in the works to be remodeled but it is nice and cozy with lots of booths and a nice bar with great views of the river also. Its definitely a great spot for date night and special occasions, or even just a casual lunch out. Their whole menu is fantastic, but my five favorite items are pictured.
Food was great. Waiter was excellent. Young maitre de had a lot of not nice attitude. Highly recommend for all other services and food though. Main menu was great, appetizers were fantastic also
We have lived in the area for over a year and have been wanting to try this restaurant out, So for our 41st wedding anniversary we decided to take our dog Flash out for a good anniversary dinner. He tolerated a few bites of the salad which was delicious and the flowers are edible. Linda and I had the shrimp scampi that was also very delicious, and of course we both shared our dinner with Flash and would you know it, he didn’t have one complaint with he dinner. Happy Dog Happy Life. Well bottom line here is we loved the dog friendly outdoor seating along the river, the service was right on not to much and not to little and very friendly. We can’t wait to go back. If you are ever in Grants Pass this restaurant is the perfect place to eat and to enjoy the river 😎Thank you rivers edge restaurant for having us for dinner.
Very expensive for what we got.The food is also very salty. We got bread and butter while waiting for our food but the bread had a layer of salt and the butter was very salty too. We then got our salmon entree and that too was very salty. Then we got a very high bill, which was very salty on the brain. We dont mind paying prime money on occasion but then also expect prime food.
Rivers Edge is always our go to fancy restaurant for special occasion dinners. The prices perfectly match the quality of the food, and the views and atmosphere are wonderful. I strayed from my usual entree of steak the last time I went and instead got the scallops and they were absolutely delicious! I also had their lavender lemonade and it was also refreshing and great! Its a little spendy for large parties since theres an 18% automatic gratuity added to groups over 7, but thats pretty standard at most restaurants that Ive been to. The staff is always friendly, and we will always go back.
Amazing service. Absolutely loved the food. They were out of a lot of items, but it was a busy Saturday, so understandable. We will definitely be back again!
Phenomenal restaurant right on the Rogue River with friendly staff and seating over looking the river. Gibson was awesome and the best halibut I have ever eaten. Kevin from Motel Del Rogue 1/2 mile up river sent us there.Sisters from Arizona
Awesome location, awesome food! We went for a late lunch and almost had the outside decks overlooking the Rogue River to ourselves. We go every year to stay at the Weasku Inn on a special which includes a gift certificate to the Rivers Edge. The Wasabi Tenderloin appetizer is to die for. I had the Wild Caught Scallops and my husband had the Chilean Sea Bass. Our moans of pleasure would have been embarrassing if there were more people around. This is a really first class restaurant!!
For starters, I wish I could have captioned the fragrance in a frame! The kitchen was in full steam as we walked up to an detailed door upon entry. Indoor and outdoor seating available. With a rush of water that goes itself on the river. Staff was pleasant and punctual. Sarah was a delight to dine with as a server. Food was amazing, pix of everything but,,the main courses lol. Pocture perfect plating though! Scallops are worth raving about! The Oscar steak was savory and the chilean sea bass was a bask of beauty. Little scimp on the rice lol. But no complaints! A must meal here if gazing in grants pass!
We had a great time! We sat out on the patio, near the River. They had heat lamps and blankets available. The menu was limited, but there was still plenty that looked wonderful. The mushroom app was very good...and plentiful. I has the seafood fettuccine, which was very rich, but had great flavor. The chicken cordon bleu was also great. It had a Perfect crunchy coating and the Dijon sauce was fantastic. They had a nice cocktail list and the service was good. Cheers 🍻
