Ristorante Oliviero 1962 in Florence

Misleading picture on the website& menu. They served me a rock hard, filet mignon. I booked this restaurant for sliced Tuscan steak they portrayed on their website, but it wasn’t on the menu. And they refused to take back the tough. tasteless meat they served me. Don’t go to this place.

My sister and I stayed above this restaurant on our trip to Italy, and this place was recommended to us by our host. The food we ordered was excellent, I had the parpadelle with the boar, and the flavors were absolutely fantastic! Who knew I would fall in love with boar! However, when we were greeted at the door, the server who greeted us was extremely friendly and inviting. Once we were sat though, just barely outside of the kitchen, we had a much less inviting server take care of us. Did not get his name, but he had a very thick Irish accent. He seemed pleasant starting off, but as the night progressed, we got attitude about certain questions. Im assuming because it was "too American" of us to ask. Another large table was sat next to us, which received lots of attention. They were sat after us, but received their food nearly at the same time and we had our empty dishes sitting in front of us for about 20 minutes before A DIFFERENT server cleared them for us... as our server cleared the plates off the 10 top next to us. I understand if he was busy, but to completely neglect us, was uncalled for. We will not be returning. Clearly, this is a place for locals only.

Quite pricy but food quality overall was good and service was good.

Easily the worst meal weve had in Florence, and more pricey than most.Definitely would not come back. Olive garden has better pasta lol 😅

The restaurant was next to our Airbnb and we were in need of good meal while we waited for our check in time to arriveOur waiter Alex was charming, engaging and a lot of funWe sat outside, which was perfectThe panzanela salad was tasteless. We wanted to try it even though Alex suggested that other appetizers were better!The asparagus risotto was absolutely out of this world and is a dish we will remember for a long timeThe lovely bottle of wine was what we needed to relax our spirits while we waited for our Florence adventure to begin(The bathroom needed some attention)

Wonderful food served in a formal setting.Tucked down a small street in Florence you can find delicious food at a reasonable price.The creamy pasta topped with a pile of fresh truffle slices was a lovely treat, and we couldn’t get enough of the tiramisu. The berries on top were fresh and paired well with the smooth dessert. The service was good and overall we had a great time. One thing to note - we made the mistake of ordering a glass of prosecco each (2 people), and later on ordered two more. These 4 glasses ended up being more costly than choosing a bottle.

I could give 4 stars but comparing the price with the service 3 stars is fair enough. The food was pretty good even though the price is a little high but what disappoint us the moat was the quantity of the glass of wine served, it was the smallest I have ever seen in my life ! The service was a little bit cold. Overall I wish we went to another smaller trattoria with more authencity.k

Overall nice experience but for the amount we paid it wasnt really worth it..The actual service was mediocre, the waiter for example threw the cutlery on the table, and another took the balsamic vinegar from our table to give it to another, without even asking. Quite disappointed.On the food. Our starter was tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella and basil; the tomatoes were really average, while for the mozzarella we could genuinely have found a similar quality one in a UK supermarket. Not mind blown as youd expect!Our prima piati was a pasta with truffle - this was mind blowing!! I wish we had more of this, the best dish of the night.For main we had the famous bistecca alla fiorentina. Quite disappointed tbh, as the meat although it was juicy and tasty (and it Looks great!!), again, it wasnt mind blowing in any way, I myself can BBQ a tastier piece of meat on a good day using an average supermarket steak. Given how expensive the bistecca is, I wouldnt try it again!

My husband and I came here for the Chianina steak and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible and the staff were super patient and friendly even though they had a packed restaurant. Already dreaming about going back, don’t miss this!

Beautiful restaurant the food was great and the staff so polite! Not respecting the rare-medium-well but it’s something that’s normal in Florence. (They love raw). We took two fillet and we wanted them medium well for the kids, they were undercooked. The bistecca was wow!!! The only negative, they accepted our reservations for 14:30 but they were closing at 15:10… so anxious for us..

Lorenzo, Francesco & Simone are so nice. Everyone is so lovely and the food are the best so far during my European trip. I had the best negroni and veal here. I would like to give a recommendation to everyone comes to Florence!

Very good dinner in an elevated casual setting. Food ranged from pretty good to very good, with equally good service.My lamb was beautifully cooked and tasty, but both the lamb and yoghurt sauce were a bit bland. The few pasta dishes we had were flavorful and rich but would have been elevated with better textures and a more nuanced sauce. The dessert was excellent - a slightly cakey chocolate “mousse” with walnuts and cherries.Would recommend if you’re looking for something more casual and accessible than the many tasting menus around the city.

Ask for Rooney, let him order you whatever he suggests and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The food and the wine were immaculate. Great place for a romantic dinner or an intimate dinner with friends.

If you are a visitor. Be careful of the hidden charges. They are not honest about the bill.We ordered a beef that’s 85 euro in the menu and when we ask for the bill it was 135 euro for the same beef. Their excuse was that they cooked extra half kilo of beefs as it’s the only order with beef. What an excuse!Other than that it’s a good restaurant with nice romantic vibe.

Had an amazing fine dinner with my family last night. Every dish was spectacular, I really recommend the tagliolini with fresh truffles. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner took all our orders and run his staff very very well

Amazing food, amazing pasta. Staff were super nice and comforting, they even played the piano for entertainment!!! The wine was top notch, Brunello , chianti riserva… wow. Come here for the time of your life :)

Total disappointment. Fantastic website led us to think we would be going to an authentic Florentine restaurant, but it turned out to be a complete tourist trap instead. Flavorless, overcooked steak, below average pasta, overpriced wine? Check. Check. Check. Not a single Italian in the place.

We arrived to the restaurant and right from the beginning we got amazing service from all of the stuff.The food was just amazing, very fine and very well plated.We will definitely recommend this restaurant.

An excellent introduction to Bistecca alla Fiorentina. The other meals were very good as well. Very pleasant staff who were attentive without being overly pushy. Would absolutely recommend.

Great restaurant, food was high quality, staff was kind and talkative, making the atmosphere all the better. Vibes were perfect in this authentic, classic Italian restaurant, prices are very well calculated and you get s good bang for your buck.

Very disappointed by the quality of the food and the price!I ordered caprese burrata, the tomato was tasteless and the burrata not a burrata but a mozzarella.The second order was octopus with aspergus. The octopus was chewy and not well prepared.The bill was way too high for the quality of the food.Only plus was the location (a tiny Streetand the waiters who were both really nice and professional.

The environment is romantic and lovely. I recommend the lamb, it tastes buonissimo!🥰

This was by far the biggest tourist trap and rip off of the year.Before I begin, I only give this place 2 stars because the service was perfect and the pasta was good.However they have wines that are total rip offs given the years they have.The steak was absolutely HORRIBLE. Chewy, dense, awful piece of meat.48€ for a 18€ value of rosso de montepulciano from 2020. Please do not visit this restaurant if you want good tuscan food.Unless you get the 100€ florentine steak you will empty your wallet for a very very VERY average experience. What a huge disappointment.The only thing you are paying for is excellent service and very attentive staff. I have no complaints about them.

Food and staff are great. Pasta cooked fresh al dente as it should be cooked.

The food was nice enough and the staff were friendly. But it seems like a bit of a tourist trap. 50% more expensive than other restaurants for the same food, and not a single Italian guest was there, all tourists.

I do not understand the good reviews at all! The food did not taste like anything and overcooked pasta in Italy is a shame!! 19€ for Pasta with cream, pepper and cut up „Gambas“… the Gnochi were more like mashed up potatoes (way overcookedwith tomatoes that only tasted okay because they are Italien tomatoes, but other than that dish also did not taste like anything…no secondi for us!

Had the most delicious dinner with my husband. The steak was the best we have ever had, it was cooked to perfection and the potatoes that came with it were fantastic as well! The service that Tim provided was impeccable, including providing recommendations that certainly did not disappoint. I highly recommend anyone check this place out if you are visiting Firenze!

Sono Americana — the food was amazing and the environment was great for a relaxing evening / nice dinner. At the same time, we had so much fun. Luca is the best waiter! He is so welcoming and patient. We will definitely be back.

Lorenzo is a king. Gave us free Limoncello and the food was bae. Our table of ten loved him.

Nice cool air conditioned interior on a hot day. Lovely decor and very good service. Extensive wine selections. Definitely a five star restaurant.

The best bruschetta I’ve ever had - warm, perfectly toasted, soft center, not soggy, and tomatoes to die for!This is one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Our waiter was fantastic, he explained all about Chianti Classico wines and the bottle we chose! He was incredibly kind and attentive and we really appreciated him speaking to us in English. Our meal was also fantastic. The best bruschetta I’ve ever had - warm, perfectly toasted, soft center, not soggy, and tomatoes to die for! The pastas were fantastic and so was our steak. We followed up dinner with tiramisu even though we were too full to eat anything else - it was worth it and delicious! I would come back to Florence to just to eat here again!

We booked here based on the google reviews being so high and left with mixed feelings. It’s very old school and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling reminiscent of visiting a grandparent’s house as you enter. It’s a real time warp which is reflected in the menu.Skip the starters- they were really not great and overpriced. Soggy meets stale meets bland.Steak is exceptional- honestly truly delicious. Roast potatoes were very good too.Asparagus was very overboiled.Overall the food wasn’t amazing and was very over priced.Service and atmosphere could have been its saving grace but we had quite a weird waiter who was very patronising to us unnecessarily when we asked about wines (we had asked which reds were on the lighter side).Overall I felt we paid too much for a meal we didn’t love. It’s not going to go down in the memory books but was by far the most expensive meal we have had in Italy. If you must go- skip the starters, get the steak, and get the tiramisu.

Food was terrible and expensive. The typical tourist trap. The Famous bistecca Fiorentina here was just the worst piece of meat I ate in 4 continents I have visited. We went there because our hotel recommended. Who still believe hotels make great recommendations? Do your research before traveling, be your own concierge.

Absolutely makes no sense that this place has such a good reviews. The service was really the WORST. We were charged for something that we did not even order, so beware!!! Make sure to double check your bill before you pay. We also felt very uncomfortable by the waiters attitude (very arrogant and pushing to order more food).Besides the service we were upset about, the food was basic. Appetizer was delicious but the steak(what they are known forwasnt cooked evenly...what else to say right...(sigh)I wouldnt waste my time and appetite here if you are traveling in Florence. Go Somewhere else!!!!!- There is no function to reply to the owners reply. Unfortunately, worst dining experience during our stay in Florence at Ristorante Oliviero 1962 for sure.

We loved our experience at Oliviero 1962. It was beautiful and cozy, and we loved the food we had here. The eggplant tournedos were delicious, as were the risotto, steak, zuccottino, and almond biscuits with dessert wine. The chef is super friendly, too!

The food is delicious, the service is exceptional, and the staff (Lucasuper friendly and accommodating! First time in Florence with my mom, they definitely made our trip much better, we had to visit them twice!!!-Marco

Good classic restaurant.The menu is short but there is something for everyone.The famous Bisteca Fiorentina is minimum 1.5kg for a coupe to share. You need to be hungry. 😃 Sadly we could not try it, but there are other meat dishes than can give you a sense of it.

Of the ones that I went in Firenze this was my favorite ever! The crème brûlée 🫠

The staff was very hard working and professional. Atmosphere good. Wine, sides and dessert delicious. I didnt like the Florentine steak but it was my first time trying it and Im not a big steak eater. Quite pricey for the overall experience. Ive had better that cost much less. But I was very happy with the people working there and that made my experience great!

I was here 1 month ago and we had the chance to eat outdoor in a very nice street. Service is super, very attentive and friendly.Food was good, I was only disappointed from the tagliata di manzo that was a bit cold and over the point we asked for.The tiramisu was good if they would have removed all the strawberry sirop… which made it too sweet! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Couldnt decide between the beef and the pasta. Decided to get the beef with cheese and had zero regrets! It was sooooo good. Ordered a bottle of Malbec and it was the best Malbec Ive ever had. I typically hate Malbec but this one was super smooth and easy to drink. Wasnt a fan of the broccoli app, I would recommend something else.

2 negronis to start the evening and warm up the stomach, which went very well… (We ordered 2 morethen the signature tuscan bites, chicken liver on olive oil which I find sublime!! Then the main courses were delicious and mouth-watering. Of course the staff are friendly as usual and the little terrace is very cute

Perfect place for a romantic dinner, especially if you are lucky to get a table in the alley. Very attentive staff. Food was delicious. We’ve got risotto with clams & anchovies and fillet. All this paired with a bottle of house wine was a perfect match. The prices might seem a bit high at the first sight compared with the city average, especially on wine, but it’s absolutely worth it, the wine selection is very rich. Highly recommend Oliviero as part of the Florence night experience.

We had the best service ever, the food was amazing. If you like amazing warm service this is the spot for you guys. The have even a piano, watch out for the amazing waiter that can play the piano ;)

Absolutely perfect place to spend a dinner.. I was looking for a restaurant to have a nice Fiorentina and couldn’t choose the better one! Super nice service, staff, local Tuscany wine with. Nice hidden surprise and cherry on the cake: waiter will play on the piano while enjoying the dinner..I can only to recommend everyone wishing for the best Florence food experience. Personally, putting it on my list to come back again..❤️

The truffle is the best here, and worth getting. The service is great, but overall the other food isn’t great. The cod is overly salted, the steak was thin and flavorless. The wine was great. This is a mixed bag because they were so nice, but the food just wasn’t up to par. Skip this place and try somewhere else.
