Ristorante La Pilotta Roma - Restaurant in Vatican City, Vatican City
Had amazing pasta with salmon and tortellini soup here! Lovely service from the owners, cute patio, and very excellent prices! Perfect lunch spot right outside the Vatican.
Unfortunately the pizza was very disappointing..
Gorgeous restaurant with very tasty food and nice waiters
Kind staff, delicious food in good price ✌🏻
Very good spaghetti carbonara with a side salad of mozzarella and fresh tomatoes lettuce leaves. Washed down with a glass of red and a large beer.
Had a lovely lunch.Mom had pasta, i had risotto. Wonderful. The wine was also great. Will definitely come back!
Cute place, but we asked for sausage and pepperoni pizza. We got ham and red peppers. When we talked to waiter he said in Italian sausage was red pepper. We got Lasagna they used egg noodles and weird cream sauce. Not happy! Asked for ice with water, we got two cubes. Overall the food was awful. Need to go home, Washington to get good pizza
Delicious pasta and pizza, really cheap, so close to the Vatican City. Lovely little place
I love this restaurant more than almost any other in Rome. The owner is amazing, and the pasta is fresh and homemade. Def not a tourist trap, but a legitimately amazing Italian restaurant. They even have Gluten free options!! Not just red sauce either, but the owner will make anything on the menu gluten free, and it’s GOOD. Highly recommend to all visiting Rome to eat here ;)
The Risotto was amazing. Higly recommended ! :Excellent customer service.
Amazing! The spaghetti alla matriciana was great and the raviolis with cognac also!A place that you cannot miss in your trip to Rome :)
My daughters and I had the pleasure of dining here this evening as my one daughter is gluten free. We arrived late and were the only ones in the restaurant. The owner and his wife were fantastic. The food, wine, service and hospitality was some of the best I have had during my stay in Rome. Highly recommend stopping here especially if you are gluten free. Find this place and you wont be disappointed. Grazie per una serata meravigliosa!!!
Amazing food and nice location with a view of the Vatican , surrounded by small souvenirs shops.
One of the best pizzas I have ever ate. With a great view on the Vatican 🇻🇦
Nice place to try it the local food! A lot of options are available.
We were charged €3.5 for tap water in an old reused bottle. The seafood risotto with creamy sauce looks nice in their photo, but it was with a few frozen prawns and long grain rice (not the risotto rice). Lasagna was also terrible like leftover, had no form at all. Not worth for the price. I finished the food just because I was hungry and cold.. I wish I could give it no star.
If you enjoy good food, go elsewhere!!We went for lunch..We got one lasagne, one prawn risotto and a cappuccino. The lasagne was deconstructed, so no layers, (which is why I like lasagnea creamy tomato sauce on some pasta on a plate. No garnish, no little pieces of tomato or onion.. indicating the sauce is bought rather than made. Disappointing, but okay. The risotto used long grain rice, and therefore was not a risotto.Risotto takes skill to make, I cannot do it without great effort and attention. This restaurant skips the care and attention and makes something else;"Boiled long grain rice with those tiny frozen prawns.. Drenched in a canned tomato sauce with butter melted through it"Take a look at my photos of both dishes and compare with the image of risotto the restraunt put up.When I complained about the risotto, I was simply shown the door.Oh, and as others have said.. we were also charged for tap water.
Great gluten free option and very warmly welcomed by the owner. All the food was of an excellent standard and value
Food was decent, but we paid for water that was just tap water put into an old water bottle.
Food was excellent. Proprietor friendly and provided efficient service.
Very cute and comfortable cafe with the extremely friendly staff. Lasagna was delicious and caprese was fantastic. 100% will next time visiting Rome!
Loved this place great gluten free and service was fantastic. Excellent value will return.
Nice italian food. Great place to have Lunch.
When I spent a semester abroad in Rome, my roommate and I happened upon this restaurant by accident one night as it was close to our residence. We ended up eating there at least once a week, sometimes more, for the rest of the semester because the food is THAT GOOD. Get the bruschetta with fresh mozzarella, I promise you will not be disappointed. When my husband and I went back to Rome 6 years later for our honeymoon, we went to this restaurant and it was still the best place I have ever eaten at in Rome. And the owners remembered me! Wonderful food, wonderful service, close to the Vatican, but not usually hounded by tourists. Any time I am in Rome, I go here and it never disappoints!
Just a short distance from St. Peters, we stopped in for lunch between our tours of the two primary Vatican tourist attractions. It was very easy to walk to and from the Vatican, and had great reasonably priced foods. Gluten-free pasta and pizza are supposedly offered, but only pasta was available today. I had the gluten-free Carbonara, while the rest of the family ate pizza. The food was delicious and filling, while being a fantastic break from the crowds only a few blocks away.
The owner was nice and friendly, service was great and the food was absolutely delicious, will definitely come again.
Simple restaurant that offers delicious pasta. Great for a relaxing evening! Staff is very kind. Many options for pasta on the menu.
water is 3.5€. its expensive. and water bottle is not new. i dont know why. and pasta and carbonara is not good taste for Asian. so why do you waste good money on this meal?
This place is a gem in Rome. We stumbled on it walking to the vatican. Outdoor or inside eating, friendly staff, excellent pizza. The best we had in Italy by far.
Very nice, authentic Italian fare just steps from the Vatican. Not fussy or fancy, just good tasting dishes. The puttanesca I had was tasty, made pretty much the same as I would have done in my own kitchen. Being open early for lunch was a plus.
Amazing authentic pasta for a very fair price. Won’t find better this close to the Vatican, service was very friendly. Shocked at how empty this place was at lunchtime, people don’t know what they’re missing!
A friend knew in was visiting the Vatican and recommended this place. It was amazing. The staff was friendly and the food was wonderful. They had an English menu but it wasnt touristy. You will find a lot of locals mixed in with visitors.
Very nice, quiet, cosy place with the homemade kitchen and pleasant service. Very tasty food! Highly recommended!
Lovely quiet place. Very underrated. English speaking service with an English menu. Good portioned sizes. Very friendly staff. Popular with the Vatican natives.
Very wide choice of homemade pasta but they serve them in a cold flat pizza plate (?!). The spaghetti carbonara were very good. They dont do their own desserts, only tiramisu and profiteroles. Our profiteroles were good tho 😊
Great food. The pizza and lasagna we ordered were so good we came back a second time. Price is good for the delicious food they serve.
FAKE Gluten FreeLucky me I tasted the meat with Nima Sensor and it revelead the gluten! The owner (or managerwas not informed at all about celiacs intolerance and the raw materials containg gluten (like tomato pasta, ham etc). For him just using gluten free spagetti was enough! My wife can eat gluten and she ordered a lasagna, but it proved to be some leaking bad tasty souce.
Great family-style restaurant. The food is awesome (homemade pasta and house wine!and the prices very low despite the location right next to the Vatican. Very friendly staff.
Old fashioned quaint place, friendly service and yummy gluten free pasta! The ingredients are fresh and tasty. And the price is reasonable.
We were looking at the menu card outside and Mario, the owner, was patiently waiting till we decided what we wanted to eat (unlike lots of restaurants that trying to get you inside). I didnt expect rucola on my pizza when I ordered vegetarian (mixed vegetables). Im not a fan of rucola, but it was an amazing experience. Great service: he does help you out in English if you cant speak Italian and the price was fair. I would recommend it if youre nearby the Vatican and youre looking for Italian food.
About to have our 3rd meal here in 7 days, the food is great as is the service. Mario the owner is lovely, takes care of his customers, no trying to pull you in off the street. Close to St Peters Square but doesnt charge over the odds. Would definitely recommend.
No-one to aggressively pull you off the street. No silly "Everything you want for €10". Just genuinely wonderful service, friendly owner and happy conversation. Pasta (homemadeis just amazingly delicious. Oh, I wish wed discovered this place on Day 1, instead of our last day in Rome.
Great place to relax and enjoy an amazing meal. Great family owned place that takes care of their customers.
Great spot and very kind owner. The home made pasta is delicious.
Had a lovely lunch after a visit to the Vatican. Mario is gluten free and offers pizza, spaghetti, and penne pasta. I had pesto and he penne - fantastico! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
We eat here 3 times in our 5 days stay, near the Vatican. The host Mario is superfriendly, kids loved him. Food was good, pizzas perfect (thin and crispy - the way we like it). Prices are good, Gluten Free was extra but worth it. 10% servicecost (allmost everywhere in Rome they charge servicecost - like a tip). When we come back in Rome - sure this is where we will eat again.
Excellent food. Meat was great and service very nice. Only a few tabel on the street but very cozy and atmospheric restaurant area inside. Fair priced in view distance of S. Pietro. Had a great time.
This place was so good we ate there twice! Their house white wine was and hopefully continues to be amazeballs. There for our honeymoon and we were looking for a place on the way back from Vatican City I dont remember the dish I ordered the first time but the second time around I tried their special that was featurd in a food magazine...
Lovely evening meal. The food was delicious and the hosts were helpful and friendly. Thank you!
Expensive, but comparable to the area. Accommodates gluten free, but charges extra. Close to the Vatican. The food was good.
