Ristorante La Locanda di Federico - Southern Comfort Food Restaurant in Bari, Italy
Went for couple dinner here. Old centrum and friendly people works here!
Lovely place with a very pleasant atmosphere, excellent food! I will go back for sure!
Loved the place, would 100% recommend: food was fantastic, the speed and helpfulness of waiters is exceptional, and the atmosphere is very special (not too posh but elegant).
Perfect place to have a nice quality dinner
Fine place with really good food but be prepared to wait 30ish minutes in queue to get a table.Speaking of which,I dont recommend these outside of the covered (pavementpart of the restaurant (2ppl tables).
Food was wonderful and the place as well, waitress were really nice.
I had amazing dinner there. The staff was very polite and kind. Food is very delicious and I was surprised that during dinner time was restaurant quite empty.
Scam! Tourists stay away! For Easter they only had fixed menu at 50€ for 2 people, then they charged us 50€ individually! They took advantage of the purposefully unclear menu and wrote ‘varie’ (means genericon the receipt.Quality of food below average.
Worst food ive ever had in Italy! They served grey sous vide meat which had never touched a pan. It was served with a runny big mac tasting sauce and pickled red onions. No sides were available, so only meat and sauce. The squid was vomiting-promoting and all their pasta dishes were undersalted and in no way true to italian cousine. It seemed like they tried to be a fancy restaurant by serving cashews in their guanciale pasta and three thin slices of cucumber with their squid as the only other element. For two pastas, two mains and a 22£ bottle of wine we paid in total 112 £. I have no idea how they have ever gotten such a good rating by others, maybe by asking their friends and family to rate them. Do yourself a favor and walk in a big circle around La Locanda di Frederico.
Very good pasta and wine
Very nice food, quality is top, a little bit expensive.
Fine food, great serving, central location.
Very average. Both the most expensive and the least special meal during 3 months in Italy. Very disappointed. We followed the local crowd, but clearly this is the fashionable place to eat, not the best one.
Big disappointment.Google Maps said the place will open at 19:00 and I have spoken with somebody before in order to be sure we wouldnt need a reservation to have dinner at this specific hour.Only to be informed very stiffly when we arrived at 19:00 that I have spoken with the lady at the bar and that we could only have some "cutting board food" next to the door because the restaurant will open at 19:30.It was clearly a misunderstanding but to turn down a family with a 3 yo toddler (already hungry and tiredfor just a half an hour its a clear sign that the biggest misunderstanding is on how you choose to treat your customers on a business that should be about hospitality before anything else. Bravo 👏

We visited the restaurant twice during our 2-week stay in Bari. Definite recommendation because of the cosy atmosphere, nice staff, and nice dishes.
the staff is rough and makes confusion, we had a reservation and they messed up between the winery - inalto il calice - and the restaurant; they made us wait for 15 minutes for a table that was free in the first place. We ordered the Crudo - raw sliced fish with cherries: I had to ask for oil to marinate it and bring to a decent balance the external/internal (frozentemperature to be able to eat it. Then, we had to wait 45 minutes (calling the waiter that had no clue about what we had ordered and waiting another 15 minutesfor the main, a slow cooked lamb (coldand orecchiette with octopus ragù (they brought me a sort of warm - not hot -soup of pasta - although its called pasta asciutta for a reason), that I could not finish although I was hungry. At this point a waiter came to ask if everything was fine and we sent the dish back. can I bring you something else? thanks for asking, but its not for you. the manager or owner did not look at me while preparing the bill or said anything. the wine was decent, they had just to put it in a fridge. They can do that.
Delicious food, very polite stuff, despite we did not speak Italian. Cozy atmosphere
Worst place in Bari! The staff kept us at the entry for 20 minutes to get a table that was empty, because he said they have to clean it (only 1 glass on the table). The food was the worst we had in Puglia. AVOID!
Incredibly rude staff. Avoid.
Worst experience in Bari. I recommend to avoid this place if you dont want to ruin your holiday. Go to Buenalleggre, excelent service & food.
Terrible food and service. Expensive.
Was looking forward to a traditionally excellent meal in Bari. But in the week of Ferragosto do not expect anything grand - too many people on holidays at the same time and visiting the same places. The result - you cannot get a table for dinner if your life depended on it, and when you do you have to wait for 30minutes to be seated, 40 minutes to be served, and the food is average at best. This summarizes our experience at La Locanda di Federico. It might not be fair to expect more at the time we went, but I will not even try to visit this restaurant again.
Most of the dishes tasted OK, not bad, but nothing special either. Smaller portions compared to other places we have visited in Bari, also rather expensive.
Terrible service and food - avoid - the server was arrogant and the food worse experience ever
Portions are small and taste is average. The place is trying to be special/unique by which it become mediocre at best.Wine is poor: feel very watered down. Not an expert here but unfortunatelly is the poorest wine I had in Bari.It is okay for one meal - but if you have the chance to go somewhere else i urge you to do so
liked the place. there are two tables outside from which you can have a view of the piazza, which is very energetic especially in the weekend after the sunset 🌇. very good pasta, we ate orechiete con octopus (13 eurosand drink a nice white wine.
We arrived quite early for or evening meal, and for almost our entire meal we were the only diners, whilst all the nearby restaurants were nearly packed. The menu was VERY limited - which may explain the lack of popularity.Wed enjoyed our lunch here in September 2020, but this menu had little of appeal. Our starters were OK, but the main courses were a disappointment.I had fish (Branzino, I think), but it wasnt properly cooked. When I asked the waiter if it was intentionally raw in parts, he assured me that it was! (I enjoy Sushi, but NEVER have I been offered, ANYWHERE, part-cooked fish)A disappointment.
The best tiramisu we ever ate! Great Service as well. I cant endorse the negative comments about the waiting time, we thought it was absolutely okay. Recommendation!
Nice people and awesome food :)
Really terrible place, took very long to bring food, waitress was very rude and seem to favour other tables, and when the bill came the prices where wrong adding a couple of euros here and there. Avoid at all cost.
Nothing special, in fact poor quality and no remarkable taste.
Restaurant opens at 20.00. We arrive about 20.45 and there were 3 of 20 or so tables occupied. We were offered a horrible table between the entrance and a fish cooler. We were told every other table was reserved. When we went to leave all of the other tables became available! Hostility from the head waiter was palpable!Overall service was very poor - maybe they just take tourists for granted? Waiter forgot we had a main course and then forgot the vegetables.Food was below average. Around 30% of my wife’s mussels were not open, my prawns were old and frozen. Desserts were bought in.Really not impressed.
Excellent food and service! Delicious food with great quality! Definitely recommended!
Super Service, great food, delicious wine. Thank you for the great night. 😻🤩
Amazing!!!
Great food!
This restaurant uses fresh raw material got in the day for food. Excellent!
A very nice place with fantastically gentle service, we do recommend!
On a great piazza. Food was oke. A little bit to turistic for my tast.
Loved it. In two weeks in Puglia in May of 2018 this may have been my favorite restaurant. Great wine list and a creative menu. In the historic touristy section of a real surprise of high quality. Appetizers can be shared.
Nice atmosphere, good service and exellent food.
Best food I had in the last 5 years
Great regional cuisine.
Very friendly and nice food ;)
Tasting appetizer- 7 plates - very good. The orichiette had great flavor but not al dente- way undercooked and still hard. It needed to cook at least one more minute. Two of us shared the above and it was more than enough.
Really teasty food but price not for everyone.
Really goodservice a bit slow in busy times
Very appetising starters - 7 plates. Would recommend just having them only if you dont want a full blown mega meal.
The location is nice, in the main piazza in old town Bari. However the restaurant experience was not something I want to repeat. Our waitress looked distressed right from the start. She warned us that the kitchen would close soon (it was 2pm, quite a common time to get lunch in Bariand we had to hurry up. The rest of the service followed suit, with our waitress extremely nervous and generally just unpleasant to deal with. The climax was reached when three out of four of our pasta dishes were clearly undercooked (believe me, this was way beyond "al dente" it was almost raw and white to the coreand she tried to educate us about how people eat pasta in Bari. Now, almost everybody at the table was born and raised in Bari and been living here for at least 40 years, and trying to educate us about eating pasta is the biggest insult she could make us all.In the end we managed to get the pasta done again with the apologies of the chef and another waiter served us.Generally the place looked nice, and the dishes looked genuine enough but I have a hard time recalling another place in which I was treated so badly by a waiter.Maybe it was just bad luck but I dont think I will return there in the future.
