institution in town. unremarkable food, service, presentation, and setting. house sangiovese is a miss, best thing was the dulce, although the chocolat was a bit like Hersheys. The manager was quite kind, but ultimately, there is better food out there for less, in the same location, delivered with the same intimacy, despite the blog hype. short story, find another place

Recommended by my hotel. A more formal old school looking restaurant by very relaxed with outdoor seating which in summer was lovely. Traditional Bologna menu and both dishes I chose were lovely, a slices meats starter and a ragu. Good little wine list with some nice finds.

What a nice restaurant. You really feel the tradition of the place and food. The waiters were top notch, the food great and the price was totally fair.

This restaurant is awful, a total tourist trap. The waiters made us feel bad, they knew nothing about the wine, the pasta was not cooked enough (hard to chew), the « insalata mista » was old greens with brown spots, and it was overall too expensive for a bad quality. Pretty outrageous actually. Do not go.

Top restaurant! An institution in Bologna that keeps the same high quality over the years. I testify this every time I go to Bologna. Best Lasagna I ever had in my life! Top tagliatelle also. It is not a cheap restaurant but the prices are fair for the quality of the food and of the service.

The food was amazing. The tortellini in brudo was a near religious experience, only topped by the frozen custard over berries. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Wonderful old world feel.

A choice of “tradition”, no doubt, but brought on by their own way: old style premises and ambience - which may be fascinating - but coming to the food very big tortellini, which is a big no-no as anyone knows, a quite dry cotoletta, bolliti apparently ok, depressing desserts... plus, rude waiters without any sense of education who interrupt conversations to dive onto the table and ask for orders, or try to grab dishes not yet finished. And furthermore, pretty obviously, expensive prices.It looks like it’s a do or die when you go to Diana, so to me it’s definitely a die.

We felt returning to the 50s: waiters dressed in white, many, many waiters waiting to take orders or just starring at (fewclients, thonet-like chairs and food arranged with peas and purée of potatoes, just filling the plate. The atmosphere seemed to be a gourmet restaurant though with a lot of cold electric light. At the end, nor the peas from the Freezer, nor the never seen real potatoes potato purée (interessting to know the brand?turned out to be gourmet. And the meat bolognese with ham and cheese was salty but boring. Well, Bologna is a city of food, tast a d quality, but not the Diana: Diana is hunting down the wrong way, trying to me more as it is by the dresscode of its waiters and the prices. Never we found more boring food than in this place for this price - not even in germany...

I was first taken here because when my wife was in university (Johns Hopkinshere many years ago, she and her friends would eat here. My first visit, we found the food to be good and the place well run. We return for sentiment and tradition sake, but have noticed the quality is just ok now. They seem to be going through the motions and for what it is, the price is high.

Great service, but highly over priced at 97€.We had 2 starters, 2 meat dishes, 1 plate of fruit, 1 large beer and an espresso. My main at 18€ of thinly sliced cold roast beef with nothing on the side, didn’t warrant the price. I left hungry and highly disappointed.The restaurant also had damp smell to it.

This is a fine typical Bolognese restaurant. So authentic food and very good. Mondays it is closed

I was there some 8 years ago and loved the traditional food. The service even then was a little abrupt and that hasnt changed (despite me trying hard with my basic Italian). We were there for a short lunch, Its ok but you can find a friendlier experience of traditional food else where especially for the prices. Our lasagne was exceptional, but sadly I dont think Id recommend Diana over some other places weve been recommended over the last week.

The One : best traditional handmade food.

A local in Maranello recommended us this restaurant and we werent disappointed. I had a delicious papardelle with porcini and my husband tried the chicken breast with porcini and both dishes were amazing. Service was also good. We had nothing to complain and I would rrally recommend it!

Diana is where I learned what service should look like. We loved everything about it. The service, the food, the dining room - all were as impressive as we had been told. There is much there that I could not eat now but I there was also a great selection on the menu. Make reservations long before you go. The last time I was in Bologna I tried a few days ahead and could not get in.

I was here with my husband for dinner one night. We liked the pasta dish we had but the service was awful. Staff was rude and arrogant. We just ate and went within half an hour.

The location is great, the atmosphere is pleasant, the food is still good, the service is aseptic, the dining manager (spectacled old man waiteris simply ill-mannered, and if youre unlucky enough to be serviced by him, he will ruin your evening, like a rancid cup of coffee.

In the middle the historycal centre. Traditional old scool italian restaurant. The prices are so high. Example the service prize 4.5eur/person.

Me and my husband went there for lunch in a hot summer day. Good typical Bolognese cuisine, but .... The waiters were not polite. I think its because we didnt have formal outfit. They have a strong non written face control. What a pity...

This is a poor restaurant with a really great location in Bologna. I imagine they stay open because of the location and draw tourists in from the street. We saw this one of of those online lists of places to try. Please dont make the mistake we did. My wife and I are chefs and are never the kind to trash a place for one reason, but this place tried to charge us for food we didnt order. Thank goodness there was salt on the table because the lasagna and papparadelle with porcini seemed like they were cooked without salted pasta water and no one tasted the sauces. They then acted like we didnt order enough food when we told them we wanted the check.

Fantastic food ! Traditional Italian style

September 2016- Old reviews of rudeness and Italian only are totally out of date. Very friendly - waiters helpful and spoke many languages. Menu is in Italian but translations and explanations offered freely. Menu is now both traditional Bolognese and modern Italian.Good experience.

Just returned from Bologna and visited this restaurant for my birthday as had been recommended in the city guide. Big mistake the waiters were rude and unwelcoming. The menu was all in Italian and when we asked for some assistance with translation the waiter was unwilling to help and threw on the table a booklet of English translation which did not include many of the items on the menu, then to top it all the food itself was appalling and poorly presented, the worst meal we have ever had in Italy after 20 years of extensive travel. Avoid at all costs there are many other welcoming restaurants close by offering great cuisine at reasonable prices.

Very bad rude waiters...very bad manner of talking and bad way in giving you the dishes infront of you on the table..the food was fantastic...but we will never go there again...good food is not every thing about resturants since good hospitality is very important. ...the worst restaurant in bologna

We popped in here late evening and were met with an incredibly rude waiter who showed us to our seats and promptly told us that if we wanted something to eat we better hurry up because they were shutting in 20mins. We ordered an overpriced starter and a bottle of wine. Beware!! on top of the bill you will also be charged , individually, a €4.50 service charge, an absolute rip-off. We enjoyed our meals in many other venues in Bologna, this was our only sour experience.Terrible FoodTerrible ServiceFar to Pricey. Avoid like the Plague.
